Tome has only been available about 6 hours so I’ll update the review if it gets better but as it stands it appears they launched before they were ready. First I tried to log in as instructed in the email they sent the night before and was unable to. I had to email them to get that fixed. The first time I logged in it showed me that I had hundreds of followers because I had linked my TikTok account before the TikTok ban and before Tome went live. That was supposed to help Tome “replace TikTok” when we all thought it was going to disappear. After a few minutes on the this app app however, all of my followers disappeared. Now I only have 2. I emailed them but no response yet. Their help desk takes you to a chat group that is the online equivalent of everyone screaming into a void. Tome could have potential, but right now, it’s a dud.

Tome has been advertised in groups on fb and TikTok’s for weeks. excitement was underway. I preordered it and everything anticipating a good book app for my book loving self, and I’m unable to even create an account? My phone number and email both were submitted numerous times and after “success” was shown I get a pop up saying they were unable to log me in, that I needed to contact support. So I deleted Tome , redownloaded it MULTIPLE times, just to have the same thing pop up AFTER I verified both my number and email. Disappointed to say the least.

Tome is so promising and it seems so fun. But it needs a lot of work.

1. Creating an account is a hassle
While it has a friendly interface, it’s nearly impossible to create an account at the first try. I was able to create one after my 11th try which is not ideal.

2. You can customize your profile!! Not really
The customizing tools are bugged. You can set up a background, but as soon as you close Tome it’s gone. You can’t even set up your bio.

3. Tome is glitching
I get it’s a new app, it launched an hour ago (congrats!) so glitches are expected. I wanted to point out that the TL is not functional. You can’t see who you follow or who’s following you. You get a new badge/achievement and the next minute it’s gone.

I have high hopes and expectations for Tome. I’ll update this review eventually. Again, congrats on the launching 💖

Considering they just launched I think this is a great starting point! Moving forward I think it would be helpful to have a “tour” of Tome to help newcomers navigate how Tome works. I also think it would be really cool if they expanded the ways to interact within Tome , although maybe it just needs more time/people for those things to evolve.

Loving Tome ! A few things I think would enhance user experience are the ability to reorganize our collections on the profile and the ability to have spaces to create paragraphs or lists in our posts. For example, a list of 5 recommendations for someone who wants to get into fantasy. Like this:

1. book name by author
2. book name by author
3. etc etc etc

Ever since hearing about this social app designed for book lovers, I have had ZERO desire or need to touch another social platform. The simplicity of the feed, the ease of sharing reviews, the speed of adding to that neverending TBR… this app is an incredible app and community designed just with bookish folk in mind and I love it! I was lucky enough to get into beta testing this app before it released and got to see it through so many phases of development before launch. The developers put their heart and whimsical souls into Tome and it’s incredible!

I love Tome . It’s a beautiful design and I love the TomeGnome but I’m more of a goblin and the light hurts. My first thought of Tome was “this is something I’ll be using” and I am famous for uninstalling apps I don’t like. I don’t really leave reviews but I just think that if we had dark mode, Tome would be complete. That’s just my opinion. Keep up the great work this app devs ❤️

Think of books meets tumblr/myspace. You can post book reviews, books you want to read, tell people about your day through posts, add music playlists and so much more. The list goes on ai think Tome is heading in the right direction for book lovers & building communities! Highly recommend it!

I’ve been beta testing Tome and I have to say, the interface is really straightforward and the vibe is fun! It’s been so long since I’ve felt this motivated to read! Other users have shared recommendations and reviews for books I’ve never heard of. While it’s intended to focus on fantasy and its sub genres, it is not limited to just that.

I am really liking this app so far. It’s easy to navigate and set up. I like the options to add Gifs and books to my posts. I do have trouble finding specific books, but Tome is still new, so that could be why.
I would love to see an option to edit published posts in future updates.

Tome is so cozy and cute!! I love that I can make my profile background a gif. Really brings my page to life!

There are some bugs (if I write too much, the page doesn’t scroll or expand to let me see what I’m writing; when I add hashtags, I can only see the first one I addedd), but otherwise, Tome is great so far!! Can’t wait to explore more!

My title tells you everything to start with. I learned about Tome before I left the clock app. I signed up so when it would release, I would be automatically there. I've been navigating it since its release. I finally feel like I have a home amongst people that I'm not gonna get judged by. I don't send any gatekeeping. It feels like a place where a real bibliophile can be happy. So happy to have a nook in the reading world again.

I’m giving Tome five stars. I was lucky enough to test the beta version and I find that it is addictive in the best way. There is definite room for improvement, but the developers are taking a suggestions and bug reports in consideration. They have a wonderful open communication with app users. And I believe this will become a favorite app for many people.

Love love love that we have an app for books now! With that being said an edit button needs to be added because on a few posts I accidentally added to the wrong “collection” on my feed and I had to delete and repost. Also need to be able to add some hashtags to posts that have already been posted

I was able to get in for beta testing in Tome, and it has been a lovely experience. It is so fun to be able to customize profiles and collections and also to just have a fun new way to connect with book besties! I think there is a lot of room for new features and improvements, but for a brand new app, it is so wonderful and awesome. I can’t wait to keep seeing how Tome evolves.

I love Tome already! It’s so nice to have a place to just talk about books and connect with other readers! 😊 Only suggestion I have is being able to customize the order of our collection on our profiles because I would like some of my lists to show up first instead of it being in the order in which you added them. So excited to see what Tome becomes!!

I honestly appreciate Tome so much. I don’t have anyone to talk about my books with and Tome brings so many book worms together. Tome helped me find more books to read, appreciate fanart, and form friendships. Love this community and I’m excited to see where Tome goes next! It is in its early stage but bare with it! It definitely can use some more features like private saves, more profile customizations, group communities, etc. Thank you this app!

Tome just launched today but they have already done so much to make it as smooth a start as possible, with so many cool features. Remember personalizing your MySpace page back in the day? This will give you those memories, and you can talk about all your favorite books. Very happy.
