Official MN State Fair App Reviews

OfficialMNStateFairApp is absolutely dreadful. I don't know why the state fair had to mess with what used to be a good app. The 2024 version "daily schedule" lists only a few shows, and it appears to be shows that paid to be on OfficialMNStateFairApp . I wanted to look for horse shows, so I entered into the search box "horse." Nothing. I entered into the search part "Warner" (for the Warner Coliseum where the horse shows are.) Nothing. I looked for the August 26 "mental health day at the fair." Nothing. I even entered "mental," still nothing. Then the search feature stalls. As far as I can tell none of the DNR presentations are on OfficialMNStateFairApp . Every time I click on it a certain section and go back to the main screen, the main screen reset itself to August 22, even if I'm going to the fair on August 26. I'm going to delete it because it's worse than having no app at all. I even tried to email the fair using their email "contact us" button nothing but circles going round and round. Pathetic
OfficialMNStateFairApp is a just a reskinned version of the website with arguably an even worse UI. MN on a stick actually improves the experience of the state fair.
I’m just opened and I’m already disappointed. On the previous shortcut I was able to favorite what I wanted to explore and then use my map for my favorites specifically. OfficialMNStateFairApp doesn’t have that feature and honestly seems pointless without it.
It would be nice to be able to open the map and filter down to the food, vendors, events, exhibits that you’ve favorited, to map out a route. Thats the feature I used most on the old app.
I came across MN on a Stick app via Reddit a bit ago and prefer that app over this one. The MN on a Stick app is far more intuitive and much easier to follow. You can even favorite all your places on the map and locate them all at once!
The options for food at the fair can be overwhelming - what’s nearby, what’s good, where’s that place I heard about on the news, etc. OfficialMNStateFairApp doesn’t really help - you can look at and favorite new foods or food vendors (in their separate sections - why?), but they don’t cross-link at all. So you favorite the Afro Poppers…and then realize that you need to go to the food finder and maybe favorite Afro Deli.
Then you go to the map and hope that you can filter by your favorites - wouldn’t it be great just to see a map with the food and events you’re interested in? But no. The map can’t even accurately show vendors that are close to each other, ridiculous considering the density of food options. You have to search for “Que Viet” for example, to see it’s pin under “Spaghetti Eddies.” What’s the point of a map for an event like this where you have to already know what you’re looking for?
Just go get the Mn on a stick app. You’ll be happier.
Not sure what OfficialMNStateFairApp is intended to provide. Can’t even get the ticket purchase to work. Had to go to the web site and use that, which appears to be the same as OfficialMNStateFairApp , to purchase tickets. Failed 4 times on OfficialMNStateFairApp .
OfficialMNStateFairApp is absolutely useless! I don’t know why someone thought it would be better to change it from the previous version. So glad I kept the old one!! Fix it, because people want to be able to use it!!
I’m not finding the 2024 app as user friendly as ones in the past. The map is useless as a gray screen covers the map and will not go away. I always chose my favorite eats and activities and they would appear on the map so I could plan my route.
OfficialMNStateFairApp is an inconsistent mess without any clear usable purpose. Interested in the new drinks this year at the Fair? There a button for that which takes you to an article which lists all of the new drinks. Can you save them? No. Can you view where they are on a map? No. Can you easily make a list of what you want to eat, drink, see and more and then easily access it in a list, schedule or map format? No. This was designed by the lowest bidder who did not invest in creating a quality experience.
The one feature I used on the web version is missing on this new app - you can’t filter by favorites on the map to plan your route! I hope OfficialMNStateFairApp developers are able to update this in time for the fair, otherwise I will have to move everything over to the regular maps app.
What is the point of having the map and favorites if favorites isn’t an option for the map?! Major oversite. I’ll end up using the Fair Eats app map instead.
Missing the ability to have all my favorites on the map to plan my day. Sharing my favorites with my family. This makes my day at the fair worse and I’m more likely to give up and leave sooner. Also, at least let people select so they can make a list of the food they want. Care more about the dishes than the locations.
Glad I came here because I learned about OfficialMNStateFairApp “MN on a Stick” now this a game changer.
Need to have the option to add favorites and be able to filter just those locations on the map like the old browser Home Screen add.
Please add Favorites filter to Map. Please add Favorite flag to New Foods category. Both of these are necessary for route planning.
I always used the save from web map that allowed me to save my favorites and view those and only those on the map so I didn’t miss anything! There isn’t a filter favorite option on OfficialMNStateFairApp and I absolutely hate it. What is the point if I can plan my route based on what I want?!!!!
Make this better give me a filter favorites option.
It's astonishing that OfficialMNStateFairApp doesn't allow filtering by favorites. It's like this was never tested by anyone before release.
Love this improvement to the previous editions, so user friendly and nice to have info in one place.
OfficialMNStateFairApp is insane!
The UI/UX of OfficialMNStateFairApp is so flawless, all the information regarding the MN State Fair at your fingertips!
Before going, I can plan my whole day! And even better, with options like Favorites, I can compartmentalize my interests and see if I need more than one day.
I could continue but I think you get it…
Thank you Fox 9 for sharing OfficialMNStateFairApp!
Michael.
SO helpful! Use it!
People who were complaining at the beginning of the month, need to come back now and see that there’s been updates and changes. The daily schedule is chock full (when others said it was pretty bleak), and there’s a lot of awesome lists. You can star things you want to do, and when you click on a restaurant or food booth, it’ll show you where it is! I wish I could go to the Fair this year.
