I definitely understand what they’re trying to do here, and I know a lot of people are going to use this app once and then never open it again. That’s almost what I was about to do, I’m sure. For this reason, they put all of the information behind a pay wall. It essentially makes the “free” download of this app useless.
That said, I’m an avid water drinker. I travel a lot for work and really only drink water — maybe the occasional coffee or tea — and I’m constantly trying to find good, delicious, refreshing water to drink everywhere. So, I’d pay $5/mo but I’m not going to do that if there isn’t an opportunity for me to try the app. Pay $5 for the first month but then offer the second month free, I don’t know the answer exactly. But, for a seemingly basic app like this, and I’m sure a lot of work went into the information so the design is a bit of a second priority, you’d think there would be some kind of incentive.
Other apps like Flighty, TV Forecast, and others that I use cost significantly less with just as much data going into it with a better design.
This feedback is for the developer. I’d recommend considering some of the above.

First, there is no way to use it without paying for subscription, at least they give you 3 days trial. Second, the search is slow or broken. It might take 10 minutes for your photo request to process. Main problem is that this app just going to scare you. A lot of safe ingredients will be market as harmful just because there some rumors, if 10 research articles claim the ingredient is safe and 1 claims it’s bad - this ingredient will be scored as bad. The app is biased for brands. I compare results to Yuka - same thing overall but many responses contradict each other. Yuka might save product is good and this app might say it’s bad and vice versa. There is no trust. But hey, your brand might pay for this app to get good core I guess. So, what the point of this app?

It’s honestly so sad to get in on this app when it was a free service being used to help people find healthier sources of water. Now it’s a paid subscription service and has a lot of different ratings of other products. Really though I wish you kept it free to help folks out and if money really is an issue, I’m sure people would be fine with seeing an ad, or having banner ads in there. I know it’s not very *aesthetic*, though it would allow people to choose healthier products and provide ads for the healthier options as well.
I cannot in good faith leave a positive review until something changes.
Shame to see this happen but I understand the reasoning.
