4.8 out of 5
Cannot even begin

No import OPML function (so I can't migrate to PodomaticPodcastPlayer) and in the course of trying to find one I discovered that every help button causes an error that closes pit the in-app browser. No help to be had I guess.

I don't know who these people are leaving rave reviews but they don't seem like listeners. I tried this out for the Patreon integration but I couldn't bring my list, nor could I find the shows on it when I searched manually. Who are these mega successful satisfied casters in reviews?

First Impressions

Very ridged in controls and function. Can’t create personal feed on the fly, can’t add entire blacklists to playlists, difficult search that will auto-start any episode touched without an option to see what the episode is about or add it to a playlist, limited to only podcasts on their network, does allow for downloads, but not long term (according to other reviews.). Doesn’t have large buttons for listening in the car. Crops the Podcast image during playback. Every option seems to be buried in menus.

On the plus side, they do allow for episode comments. They have a feed/feature and the ability to (with determination) see a history of what’s been played. PodomaticPodcastPlayer looks polished and has clean lines.

Very beginner grade and doesn’t seem to be taking the profession seriously. Can’t recommend to friends and clients.

Great Content, Horrendously Bad App

Excellent content, however PodomaticPodcastPlayer is almost unusable - it crashes constantly, the few updates rolled out over the years change nothing, and many features simply don't - and never have - worked properly. And simply trying to share a link to an episode - weather they themselves have PodomaticPodcastPlayer installed, or try to listen to it through the Podomatic website, do not work. Major fail - and not a one-time fail, like iPhone 4's 'antenna-gate' but instead a chronic, long-term fail.

Bait and Switch

This vendor makes its hosted podcasts available through normal RSS feeds but if you try to this to those episodes after you subscribed you are told you can’t listen to them. You have to go to their website. Because I really wanted to give this podcast a try (Classic Poetry Outloud) I took the bait and downloaded PodomaticPodcastPlayer . In a real middle finger to users you must register to hear the podcast. Then the podcast app is at best second rate compared to something like PodCruncher. Key defect, it won’t automatically skip ahead to next episode. All-in-all this comes off as a scam.

Not User Friendly For Listening On iPads

I subscribed to a podcast I found. I listened to all of the episodes and then when I tried to pull them up again, there were no episodes listed. I have spent an endless amount of time trying to find them so I could listen to them again. They only show up in my History file, which is extremely hard to locate as well. Once I did find that, it has my entire history and not just the podcast I subscribed to so I cannot just push play and listen to a couple episodes in a row.

This is not a user friendly app. It is very frustrating to try and navigate with the minimal options it offers to locate what you are looking for. It might work well if you are producing a podcast, but for listening it is terrible. Don’t waste your time with it unless they make some major changes to it.

Frustrating!

Yes it has a pretty look, with the circle and such. But a few features - and the lack of them - make this a very frustrating App to use.

Settings seem to act on a single episode at a time; can't say set playback speed at the global OR podcast level - have to start playing each episode first THEN set the speed. Plus there's no 1.25 option - 1.5 and up only.

Ditto for downloading for offline listening (this one is important to me).

The circular scrolling method - while visually clever - is awkward and imprecise. And the jump 15 seconds forward and back icons are quite small - this and the difficult scrolling make car use challenging.

Updated to remove a star: my favorite podcast doesn't load. I was listening to an episode, it stalled and never resumed. I tried restarting PodomaticPodcastPlayer , restarting the phone, resetting the phone, deleting PodomaticPodcastPlayer . I can FIND the podcast with a an episode count, but on opening no episodes are listed.

I'm done. Deleting now.

Plays fine but forget saving for later

PodomaticPodcastPlayer offers the option to make available offline, and shows download progress of podcasts. However, after a day or two, the download is gone and must be downloaded again. I would like to listen to some while driving where phone signal is weak, and cannot listen to podcasts that were downloaded multiple times. They vaporized after a day or two, even when PodomaticPodcastPlayer was not closed between the download and attempting to play. Frustrating!

Plays well

I recently found out out about podomatic and I love it. But when I download podcasts that I want to listen to offline I can't listen to them so then I close PodomaticPodcastPlayer and open it again. But when I do that the ones I downloaded are no longer there. I also can't view my playlists. No matter what, it says that I need to check my connection. If these problems get fixed I'll change my rating.

App doesn’t work well

I’m new to PodomaticPodcastPlayer . I followed a couple of podcasts. I downloaded or “made available offline” several episodes of each. When you are on a given show’s page and viewing its lists of episodes, there is an indicator that you have at least started to listen to a particular episode but there is no distinction between the episodes you have already downloaded and those you haven’t (but have not yet started to listen to). Also, on one of the podcasts I followed, when you go to its list of episodes under “Offline Episodes” none of the episodes have its title and short description. That field is blank. You can still click on it and it will play for you, but even on that page as it’s playing, the info is blank. On the other podcast I followed, the episodes I downloaded show up on its offline episodes page but I don’t believe they actually downloaded as they won’t play at all. It just spins and spins when you try to listen. Unfortunately, this was a very poor start when trying out this new app to me. I will likely just go back to relying on Apple Podcasts for my offline listening. Disappointed.

Doesn't work as advertised...

PodomaticPodcastPlayer is OK for listening but some of the functions that are supposed to be there such as off-line listening do not work I have hit the offline numerous times downloaded or at least thought I did podcast and come back later and there be nothing in the offline listening. Neither would the downloads that I thought were downloaded actually on the device my iPhone 8+ so it’s OK for listening but not for planning out and storing podcast at least in my opinion.

Offline capability needs work

The offline capability is an important feature as I download and listen while I'm flying.
If you download a podcast, don't close PodomaticPodcastPlayer or it'll disappear.
If you've downloaded it more than a day or two.. gone.
There seems to be no memory capability where the podcast goes. So make sure you download right before you need it and don't do anything otherwise you'll lose it.

Password expires too fast / please allow Apple login!

Automatic login expiration makes me hate PodomaticPodcastPlayer . I don’t keep my login info on the road, so most of the time when I want to use PodomaticPodcastPlayer , I open it, it tells me my login has expired, and I can’t use it. It would be a whole lot easier if I could use my Apple login, which I know by heart. Apps have the capability of doing this now. And relax the expiration time period. PLEASE?

Fluidity

My suggestion would be to create a more fluid transition between uploading and editing your podcast. The first few times were really simple and then something fell apart and I was unable to upload the audio files unless I published even though I was not ready to release it. I love the sound quality and the simplicity of it all. Also is there anyway to combine both platforms into one podcast app for an easier user experience and interface? Thank you guys for responding to my questions so quickly each time I reach out to you! You're the best!

Buggy but still worthwhile

The basic functionality is working but some bugs exist. For example the function Report a Bug doesn’t work. Also saving a podcast for later listening results in the podcast being deleted at some stage (no persistence). But in any case it’s a recommendable app as it does in fact serve you the podcasts.

Great App to Keep Up W/Your Fav Podcasts

PodomaticPodcastPlayer is pretty easy to use once you familiarize yourself with it. I have only found difficulty in playing podcasts that I have listened to all the way through once. It took a while for me to realize that I needed to tap the “All Episodes” tab to find podcasts that I’d already begin to listen to. Even if I inadvertently tap an episode and it only plays for a second or two, it goes from “Unplayed Episodes” to “All Episodes.” Aside from that it’s a pretty good app. There is even a comment section where I have been able to communicate with the broadcasters. It’s also great to be able to download your favorite podcast episodes.

The Caving Podcast

Every episode is so enjoyable for me because Matt Pelsor really helps his listeners get to know the folks he interviews. The PodOmatic Podcast Player is totally easy to use after multiple updates through several years through 2 iPhones I have used.

Offline Podcasts Disappear

PodomaticPodcastPlayer is a good app. Set up very well, in fact. But there is an inconvenience, a downfall or flaw I have encountered. I can save a podcast to the “Offline Playlist” and watch it at that moment, but later on somehow it’s not there available anymore. This causes me to have to save it to my offline playlist again. Before this last update, I didn’t have to do that. Please change this. Thank you!

DJ Bolt's Podcast

PodOmatic and DJ Bolt's Podcast have given me assistance to help me recover from depression. Thanks. That was several years ago and it’s so nice to be living my best life still listening to my best DJ and my favorite all time jam House music like it was meant to be back in Chicago with my friend Fred was in those streets kicking up his heels to the beats a house music.

Excellent App for Podcast Lovers and Pocasters

I love the latest update! In addition to the already user friendly interface, with this update they have added a feature that allows you to download episodes while you are searching the rest of PodomaticPodcastPlayer for other new episodes. As a listener I appreciate this option. As a podcaster I love that they have now integrated the patreon support feature into PodomaticPodcastPlayer so listener can easily choose to support podcasts.

Thankful for Podomatic

These guys have jumstarted our podcast and made it easy to access iTunes podcast and many other platforms with their easy to access website to their loyal customer service. Thanks again guys!
