Not counting my steps…

I downloaded this game because I thought it would be a fun way to keep track of my steps, and I love the idea of collecting monsters. I work two jobs and walk about 12,000 steps a day between both of them. I made sure my Health app was up to date and the pedometer was working. It is. But this game only registered 23 steps…. Across 3 working days. I would open my health app and check my steps, then exit out of this game and reboot it. Same thing, only 23 steps were registered. I’m not sure what happened. It was counting my steps before, for maybe about the first 4 hours that I had it… then it just stopped.

Updates but no actual update

I’ve cleared the map and there was a recent update that allows us to access previously untraveled maps. But they require a specific monster that can cross diagonally? That pop-up shows up once and never again. No instructions how to get said monster-I already cleared the whole map and no way to meet “new” monsters so I’m stuck again

Frustrating to use but entertaining

I’m a college student who does a lot of walking, so this game is perfect and also gives me reason as an introvert to get out of the dorm! I love the characters, the designs, and the functions, but I very frequently get frustrated with UI/UX.

For starters, I made the terrible decision of placing my buildings in the base just off the entering screen, thinking I’d be able to change their positions later. This is not the case, and having the screen revert back to the place it enters at every. Time. I. Press. The. Screen. Is very annoying. The ability to change locations of items at the base would be tremendously appreciated.

Generally, the screen reorientating against what I try to have it set up to do is really bothersome.

In the “Monsters” tab, the “auto assign” and “sort:” buttons really cloud the screen. Maybe a little bit smaller that way the user can pay attention to the utility of the tab? And also, I recommend sorting by power level and elements. If it clogs the screen when opening the “sort:” tab, you could try the approach of keeping it simple and a symbol that changes when pressed.

Altogether, I’ve made a lot of critiques, but I do genuinely enjoy the game. I hope to see it improve and I love what I’ve seen so far!

Good, no direction

I checked the reviews literally to see what I’m missing, and turns out super common issue. There is hardly any direction, and when there is it’s just “go do this” maybe with a “go here to do it” with no information on where that is or what is happening

No idea how I unlocked the void island achievement, or how I managed to miss the void walker but that was zero guiding. Still haven’t found anything labeled “void walker”

The jump skill? I’ve been through all my monsters, and cannot figure out any with special skills. Some are “unusually strong” but are lower levels than other monsters and definitely weaker. Hard to tell when they’ll do 100 or 300 damage.

I know we’re trying to get away from spoon feeding games, but a map? A droplet of information?

Definitely fun but buggy

I’ve very much enjoyed playing this game and I really like all the cute little monsters. It’s definitely an encouragement to get up and walk around. However, I’ve reached a point in what I’m assuming the first map (I recently just started) where I’ve unlocked all the space and defeated all the monsters except the final elite guardian whirlspire, and I have no clue what to do. I’m not strong enough and have no way of leveling up as I have no more tiles, and it won’t let me use the chase button even though I’ve already unlocked it (I’m also basically out of fruits). Many of my upgrades have also disappeared at random, especially for the chest, taking all of the resources I spent with it, which is a little annoying. So now I’m at a point in the game where I literally can’t progress and I have no clue what to do.

Good but I can’t go anywhere

I enjoy the game the leveling up walking and challenging monsters, but I’ve cleared all the area I can get to and it won’t really let me do anything else. There’s one square not cleared, it won’t let me clear it, but every time I open the map it says I’ve cleared the area tap to continue.

Fun game

It’s a fun game but I’ve run into the issue where I’ve collected all of the monsters and uncovered all of the land that is connected to each other. I can’t get to the little islands and there are no monsters left to collect or land I have access to that I can uncover (unless there’s a way to get to the islands that I don’t know about)

Good game but

I love this game, but I very much dislike the newest update where fighting is not an option for some monsters. The timing mechanism and step counter does not seem to work right when I close WhereTheyLive , making it so I always fail the chases, flirts, and survives. I would love if I could just fight them like before.

Stuck?

I’ve been playing for awhile and as far as I can tell I’ve unlocked all of the map except for the islands. It says I need a monster that can jump there, but none of the monster descriptions say anything about that. I’ve also finished the chapter quests and maxed out my base, so I’m not sure if I’m just done now?

Simple and relaxing

Fun little motivation to get your steps in, especially if you check in on your game multiple times a day. There is a bit of a learning curve with sorting your monsters, and I wish the farming had more stuff.

Cute but needs expansion

I really love the concept and current gameplay for this game. Using a little digital world to unlock to encourage me to take steps is really fun for me and keeps me coming back to the game.

However, I think I’ve reached the limit of that the game has right now. I’ve unlocked nearly every block and defeated all the monsters. Right now it seems like there is not an additional map
Or world outside of what I’ve unlocked, so until they are able to add more to the game, there just isn’t a lot for me to do. I’d love to see more added to this game!

Good game

So far it seems like a good game. Definitely need a better way to tell how much damage monsters will do. And slightly frustrated with the map. Idk if I’m just being blind but I can’t find a way to get to any of the stuff in the upper right. All the paths I see have water separating them. As far as I can tell I’ve cleared the rest of the map. Hopefully they add more/make it so you can get to the rest soon.

Good but some problems.

I like it for the most part. Really like the new combat system! Much more friendly to use. The monsters are neat, hope there is more variety later on though.

Some issues… It keeps eating my upgrades! It’s eaten 2 stamina upgrades, 2 stone upgrades, and 1 lumber upgrade. The materials are gone and my upgrade are gone. I also notice even though I’ve gotten fruit, sometimes it’s just not in my inventory. :(

Love the mix of gaming and exercising

There’s a small learning curve (re: building, exploring and battling) but the developer seems to be pushing updates every day and is super responsive to feedback! It’s been fun seeing the game evolve

Makes me want to get my steps in so I can play more. Not only is the artwork really good, but so is the gameplay! 🏃🏻‍♂️

Simple but fun!

The game design is very cute and gives me something to look forward to on my walks. Super easy to pick up and figure out. Sadly it looks like I’ve finished all of the available content for now but I’m looking forward to the next update!

I like monsters!

Gives me Pokémon GO vibes and I really like how the monsters talk to you. Didn’t expect to like the explore piece as much as I did, but I was walking all around my room and way more steps passed by and I realized an hour passed. Good if you like games and want more steps in every day!

Cute game, highly engaged devs

Go join their Discord! It’s a cute little game, right now still in early stages, so if you walk a lot every day, you can catch all the creatures on the map. But they’re actively expanding, so I’m expecting more to do soon. Art is great, music is cool, this is all off to a great start.

Getting my steps in!

I enjoyed being able to jump right into the game, versus having to sit through seemingly ten hour tutorial while feeling like I’m reading a novel.

The monsters are too cute! I think being able to choose between chasing the monsters with steps, versus having to avoid those balls of fire is clever. The joystick made moving my character around a little challenging. It almost felt like he was skidding around on ice a bit, so avoiding the fire was a bit stressful.

Being able to build those forts that help increase inventory such as wood, stone etc is cool. And it had me coming back to the game throughout the day

Overall I found myself walking around more and more thanks to this game! Doing 800+ steps for a monster chase felt like nothing! I look forward to feeling healthier while playing this game

I like the game

I enjoy the game, however, I’ve reached a point where there is no where else to go. I don’t know if it is my phone or the game but it seems to have stopped updating the map.

Fun, cute, charming and interesting.

I love this game! It’s so nice earning currency just by walking. Then when I’m sitting I can play the game for 5 minutes and put it down. A unique and cozy way to pass the time. It’s enjoyable but not addicting, which is really nice. I also love the cute style, it reminds me of a game boy advance game.
