This was unbelievably frustrating. 8 of the words were related to fish, and I had tried every combination I thought. Considering 8 of the words had the same connection, it was a very long process to guess which 4 words fit together.

An answer was: FISH: Char, Shark, Perch, Eel. Another answer: FISH: Tetra, Tang, Skate, Sole.

Fell in love with the NYT game, but one game a day wasn’t enough for me. Off the bat these games were way easier. Lots of repeats. Also a lot of not so great categories and options. The two that finally convinced me to delete ConnectWords are the category “things that stick” containing “glue, tape, gum, and stick” what the heck is a stick and how does it stick? And when I was in an unsolvable game.. the correct answers would not solve the problem so I started selecting all versions of the options in order to press every single option to get through the level.. and none of them worked.

Wow! Way too many horrible ads! This has caused me to no longer play the game. There should also be a hint feature that will get players to continue to try solving the puzzle. Until the ads are removed, I will no longer play or recommend this game!

The reviewers are way too kind giving this 4+ stars. They must have super low expectations.
Bottom line - this needs work to be on par with the NYT version. This is sorely lacking.
Unforgivable - is the no answer when you are stumped. When you have given 50 guesses it’s kind of obvious you don’t know the answer.
Let’s say it was a fail and give the answer.

Fun game but have three complaints, each worth a star. Ad frequency is too high, let me pay to go ad free or reduce number of ads. Absolutely needs a dark mode, don't want to blind myself with a white screen 24/7. And there needs to be some way to skip or bypass a puzzle you're stuck on because a few of the connections are extreme stretches.

Being able to get a hint would be nice, also it would be great if you could buy something to stop the ads. I’m going to have to stop playing because I’m stuck with 2 sets of words that I can’t figure out the relationship. If you get stuck you have to stop playing altogether. That’s a shame.

If you want to play connections, great. But ConnectWords is not the way to do it. It repeats connections and words multiple times while playing, so each set of words doesn’t feel distinct. Since you can get the same connections in a row, you end up remembering those connections more than trying to find new ones. It doesn’t have the same satisfaction and the NYT game, because there isn’t as much challenge between the levels, so there ends up being a disconnect. That said, there are some interesting connections in there, and the game works as intended. So if you want to play more of the NYT game, then this is a fair way to do it, even if there is a drop in quality.

I would give this game a higher rating, but I got stuck on a puzzle. There is no option for hints or to skip. I’m stuck on the same puzzle and can’t even use ConnectWords now. Very annoying.

Most of the puzzles you’re going to see while playing ConnectWords are repetitive and the exact same ones that you played two minutes prior honestly, I’d rather wait to play the daily one from the New York Times then to sit and play the exact same puzzle over and over again

I wish there was more variety of words/ connections- I’m already getting a lot of repeats in less than an hour. Takes so much fun out of it.

Having unlimited guesses is so wonderful!!! Maybe consider adding a hint feature/ button, though?
On the flip side: the game says “next level” but the puzzle difficulty seems sporadic rather than linear/ progressive…could just be my own ignorance on particular subject matter.

It’s visually nice but nothing special. Definitely gets the job done entertainment wise in an aesthetically pleasing-enough way! Playing for the challenge and not the graphics.

I enjoy the daily NY Times game, but found the subscription to be way too much, but I really enjoy this type of game. I’ve just completed 5 levels and they’re waaay too easy. I’m drawn to these kinds of puzzles because they typically encourage critical thinking, creativity and present a challenge.

For whatever reason, I cannot read any of the reviews right now, but I know I can’t be the only person disappointed.

Not difficult enough. That is the reason I like the NYT version. Sure, a lot of them on the NYT are ridiculously hard and I lose, but that’s what makes winning so much more fun. It says on this they get harder as you keep winning, but I just kept noticing repeated word connections and the same level.

I had this game on my device for three days. Most of the games were fun, one was difficult, but I got it. Then there was a game I could not solve. There are no options, no hints or reject this game and get a new one. Nothing but the game dumbly waiting. I deleted ConnectWords .

I enjoy figuring out commonalities among the words. But when I have tried as much as I want to, there’s no way out that I can see except to exit ConnectWords . A “hint” or “give up” option would help, in my opinion. I do like the absence of a limit on the number of tries: I like to keep trying for a while.

It’s great that you have many tries but if you don’t get them after several attempts, you never get the answers which is very frustrating!! I usually get them all but haven’t a few times and it is very frustrating to never get the answers. Not fun to never know!

I like this game because it really makes you think, but there are definitely things that could be improved upon.

One thing that I don’t like is how not all connections are based on words that are related. For example, some connections are names of movies or songs and you need to be familiar with all of them to get the connection. It would be better if all connections were actual words and not titles, names, etc.

I also don’t like how a lot of the connections are repeated from level to level. I’ve only been playing for a couple of weeks and I’ve already seen the same connections repeated multiple times.

One more thing that is a minor complaint but could be better is the lack of sounds, colors, and animations. The layout is extremely plain and boring.

I’ll happily increase my rating if these things get better.

Love the game hate the ads. I play the game one quarter of the time and the other 3/4 is watching ads. I would buy it to block all ads.

Now I have had a Google ad pop up in the bottom and it won’t go away. There is no option but open or report the ad. The game won’t return. I have already had to remove ConnectWords, wait some days, and then download again. Not user friendly.

This game would be great if it actually moved up in terms of difficulty it goes up and down, sometimes easy sometimes difficult. I really wish all these games would give a choice to pay for no ads a reasonable amount of money of course but a choice!

Would like the option stay on one certain level versus going up each time.

This is a fun game but I have 2 problems

1. This is really small but there is no dark mode. So I can’t play this game in the dark.

2. This is a little bigger but if you can’t figure out the correct answer, it wouldn’t give the correct answer. So after trying a puzzle for a god while, I don’t know what stumped me.

The ads between games are RIDICULOUSLY LONG and they are the same boring ads I’ve seen on every game out there, over and over and over and over and over………….. If a 20 second ad I’ve seen 10,000 times hasn’t lured me, how in the world does some money idiot think that making the ads LONGER and EXACTLY THE SAME AS ALWAYS is going to make a difference. It’s stupid when ConnectWords has more ad time than game time.
I DO LIKE THE GAME! I like being able to have unlimited attempts until i finally get that “Well duh!” moment. Please don’t change that.

I really enjoy the challenge of this game, but I only started playing it 3 days ago, and it is already repeating sets.
It takes away a lot of the fun and challenge when you immediately recognize sets you have previously identified.
There are endless possibilities of word sets for this game…no need for repeats so early on.

The only reason I use this is because the better version is unavailable to me for some reason. I think there should be less adds but there is a way to get around that by turning off your internet and data; but others than that it is pretty worth it to download

I really enjoy the game but I would appreciate the ability to get a hint/ clue. Essential, if your stuck … that’s it no more playing unless you play box trials which then makes the point of finding the actual reason for connections. This game helps build cognitive abilities and that is part of the value of play other than fun, but with no options for hints it is game over for life.

I enjoy this game with two exceptions. One it would be nice if you got a hint like, "three are correct " and secondly if there were levels that you could play with friends including posting on social media. I have no idea how many I have successfully completed and if any of my friends play this game.

Enjoy the challenges this game brings! When I get stuck with 8 blocks that seem to have absolutely nothing in common I just leave the game and come back later until somehow I get the correct combination! LOL! Very rewarding!

Wish had more options when stuck

Nice enough game, but if you get stuck and absolutely cannot solve it, there does not seem to be a method of stopping and seeing the results. In fact after two days, I’m convinced that the puzzle is in error. The only thing I can do at this point is delete ConnectWords and then reload it.

I love the New York Times connections, and being able to play whenever I want feels great. But the NYT connections have a few more advantages over this game.
1. “One away” In the NYT connections, when you are one option off from a correct group, it has a little pop up saying “one away” if you add this to your game, maybe through the settings, it could make it much easier and more fun.
2. Difficulty. The NYT connections are infamously difficult. So by turning something on in the settings, it would give you harder puzzles.
Solid game, just a tad unpolished.

I love this game! It stimulates my mind. Some categories are a wee bit “out there” and very hard to actually combine but it’s great when you figure them out. After playing this game my mind seems to be sharper and gets me motivated to tackle tough jobs at work! Keep coming up with those “brain teaser” categories! It’s a fun mind game!

I love your game. It makes you think outside the box. My only change would be to make the letters bigger as sometimes they are very hard to read.

Would be perfect without ads

Just wish there was an easy way to get answers to puzzles from earlier days. There must be one but because older puzzles have no dates we have no realistic way of finding them to GET the answers and just have to stop playing….

An ad after each round (sometimes not even that often!) and that’s about it. Beautiful. Perfect. How it should be. The only thing I’d change would be adding a hint feature but honestly not a big deal either way. Great app!

I really enjoy this game. I can usually figure out two rounds, then I sit and scratch my head for the next two!

I love playing this game when I’m bored at home or on a long car ride or a trip soo good 10/10 would highly recommend 💗

Great workout for language centers of the brain. Some matches are immediately apparent while some challenge memory, logic and general knowledge.

This really makes you think. Can’t resist a multi dimensional game.

Why can’t we get rid of the adds ??
They are so annoying.

A new way of thinking about the many way single words can be associated.

This is a really fun game to play because it challenges you makes you really think and I think it helps your brain work
