Disappointment

WarhammerAgeofSigmar has been a disappointment for me as I am subscribed to Warhammer + (will not be renewing it when the time comes) and it is telling me I can’t make any list cause I am not I have logged out and back in and still nothing. Not to mention I probably won’t be able to continue to use due to not having access to my opponents warscrolls to make sure I understand there rules just the same. Please let me read rules.

Command Bunker

We definitely need the Command Bunker

Step in the wrong direction

Locking the warscroll cards to the army book makes WarhammerAgeofSigmar nigh unusable, I loved using WarhammerAgeofSigmar during the index releases as i could see my opponent's warscrolls, I did not mind the army rules being locked behind the army book in 3rd edition. The army lists being locked to warhammer plus will make players look to different list building apps. I know games workshop thinks this will make them more money, but most players won't buy army books for armies they don't play, and most players won't subscribe to warhammer plus to unlock the list builder. If gw really wants people to subscribe to warhammer plus, let the subscription unlock all the army books. I know I would pay for that.

Terrible compared to the 40K app

Building an army in this is so overly complicated. Trying to add the Orks I’ve got to see what all I have so far and when I picked stuff to start adding models I can only add the Orks on the boar and can’t see anything else.

Trying to read what things do what has me clicking a tiny arrow for the drop down and instead of it opening it clicks it and takes me to the next page which makes me have to keep swinging back when I’m trying to click to read things.

So far so bad for WarhammerAgeofSigmar. More overly complicating things that don’t need to be.

Worse in every way

They engineered the new app to be worse in every way than the old one AND now it is paid.

Excessive drop down menu design and full of bugs. The search function constantly resets itself so you can’t type into it and it will even allow some illegal lists-which is half the point of this thing.

Downgrade with multiple problems

Compared to the previous app it’s just worse.

The search engine for some reason will prematurely enter your search it you don’t tap for a literal half a second. This makes it more than useless.

No battle bunker which is the only redeemable quality of the 40K one.

Lastly all the abilities and weapon profiles are are hidden behind multiple widgets, which are even more useless for this more streamlined edition.

As a fan of AoS who used the original app for second edition this is clearly the worse one by far please fix it I want it to be useful it has so much potential.

Seems like a reskinned Warhammer 40,000 app

WarhammerAgeofSigmar does not have a Landscape Mode for the iPad.
WarhammerAgeofSigmar does not sync Armies from your iPad to your Phone and vice versa
The warscrolls on WarhammerAgeofSigmar should automatically expand all the drop downs. There are way too many clicks to get through this. Basically having to click and expand, the scroll down, the click to expand the next one, and the those even may have abilities that need to be clicked and expanded as well. Not very user friendly.
WarhammerAgeofSigmar warscrolls are not consistently designed the same as the cards, for example, the move/health/save/control should be in the same design as the faction packs to make things consistent and clear.
Should add a “Command Bunker” option like in the Warhammer 40,000 app
WarhammerAgeofSigmar should walk you through each step for creating your army, especially with regiments.
Would be nice to be able to have an indication on the warscrolls if it would go over your points total for the army before adding them.
There is a swiping problem when going into warscrolls in your army that double swipes back and forth.
There is a bug on the iOS version where if you go into a warscrolls and swipe back, then go into another warscrolls and swipe back, it takes you to the first warscrolls and so on.
It would be nice to have a mode where you could setup a battle and add your army and the enemies army to keep track of points and rounds.

A downgrade in UX and objectively worse than the 40k app

WarhammerAgeofSigmar feels like a lazy theme swap version of the current 40k app, and like it was made by a web developer that doesn’t have any experience with the game itself. The list builder is clunky and the way you add spell lores etc through the bottom of a list is not well executed.

The worst part are the sheer number of expand menus and clicks just to see literally any unit’s abilities. It feels worse than the 40k app’s number of menus but the part that doesn’t make sense is hardly any unit in AoS has anywhere near as many abilities as 40k and thus does not need all abilities minimized upon opening a warscroll. At least give us a settings option to change this.

I think the most frustrating part here for me is the absolute best and most enticing reason to use the 40k version of WarhammerAgeofSigmar was removed here, the command bunker button that gives an army page with all your units’ stats and army rules just a single click away.

Incredibly disappointed in WarhammerAgeofSigmar itself. This review doesn’t even have anything to do with the eventual paywalls of WarhammerAgeofSigmar. This needs work. I have a lot of friends I was hoping to sell on learning this game this edition but they will be instantly turned off to this game with how confusing WarhammerAgeofSigmar is.

They failed again

Why in SIGMARS NAME! Did they not just copy the 40k version of WarhammerAgeofSigmar ?
It's not hard because it's just the same app reskinned for sigmar with some differences (mostly unit building) yet they didn't learn from that app and how terrible it was within the first months and how the BUNKER WAS THE BEST FEATURE! Does WarhammerAgeofSigmar team need someone to hold their hand?

Paywall for everything

With the previous iterations of the apps for Age of Sigmar, we were still able to see warscrolls and points for models, but now EVERYTHING is behind a paywall of some kind. It’s egregious that we can no longer check our opponents warscrolls ourselves or are unable to look at modes to see if we want to start a new army based on warscrolls. Please stop this cash grab and let us have the previous functionality back. The game itself costs so much as it is, now forcing us to buy even more to just have the basics is insane and reprehensible.

Disappointed WH Plus Subscriber

As a WH plus subscriber, I’m super disappointed in WarhammerAgeofSigmar. This was one of the only reasons I was considering keeping my subscription. Now I’m contemplating canceling my subscription due to the over complication of an app that is supposed to provide an easy access to information.

I very much enjoyed the simplicity and ease of navigation with the first App. This is app buries information in a endless tide of drop-down menus and acts as an active barrier to reference unit information in a timely manner.

As a player I don’t want to memorize every WS and want to be able to reference my units, unit abilities, and other information in a timely manner. WarhammerAgeofSigmar obliterates that ability.

Please, PLEASE limit the drop downs and apply the same “one page Warscroll” logic for the cards to WarhammerAgeofSigmar. There’s no reason at all why it should be this bad.

Reward the paying customers with quality and function and you’ll be rewarded with happy subscribers.

Nickel and dime your players to death

When AoS released, you were able to cross-reference your opponent’s list based on WarhammerAgeofSigmar . It was really easy to check what units could do or read a rule without slowing the game down. Now, any information you don’t buy is locked behind a paywall. Yes, even warscrolls. On top of that, you now have to subscribe to make more than one list. GW isn’t hurting for money. They have record profits almost every year, yet they continue to pull these kind of stunts and drive players away.

Find a better list builder that’s free. This ain’t it.

So many taps

WarhammerAgeofSigmar is a far cry compared to the past two apps, GW really drop the ball on this one in my opinion. I should have to access info on a warscroll by pressing 4 tabs to get to that info. Plus with manifestations lore and the warscroll being on two separate tabs that you guessed each have 2 tabs to get the info for the endless spells is a big pain in the butt. Plus there’s a couple other minor things but the tabs is a big issue for me.

An embarrassment to games workshop

I’m dumbfounded at the fact that they had an opportunity to update and fix the problems that The previous app had, but not only did they not do that, but they actually made things worse! You have to meticulously click through each unit and their abilities to toggle down menus in order to read their abilities and stats. None of the stats and abilities are laid out in the same way They are from their books. And just like before, if you want to know details about your army battle traits or battle formations, you can’t find that in your army list. You have to tap over to the reference tab and dig around until you find what you need. Is it that hard to put everything in one place guys? If you’re gonna start asking people to pay for this, you better make some big changes because I for sure am not going to. I’ve been Warhammer plus subscriber since the beginning and it’s ironic that once you start making me have to pay for this, I’ll actually become incentivized to cancel my subscription. Is it a radical thought to Utilize the very thoughtful and laid out information format that you’ve come up with for AOS warscrolls in the books? Theyre color-coded and have handy symbols. Absolutely none of that is brought over to WarhammerAgeofSigmar. It’s painfully obvious an outside company was brought on to make this who had nothing to do with the game developers, and all of the thought that went into the actual book warscrolls and information was ignorantly left behind. do better guys. Just do better.

As bad as the 40k app somehow

Stick with the free alternatives, as this would be an embarrassing paid app. Still no way to import a list, everything is double nested within infuriating little menus, no way to copy lists or organize them in any way, and a million rules scattered across a billion separate nested sections. GW products living up to their sterling reputation 🙄

I hear you like drop down menus

So I put a drop down, in a drop down, of a drop down.

Nice to see the points, and the army builder is ok, but I pity the person who tries to play the game with this mess of an app: every war scroll is buried in menus till it’s unreadable.

The old app was so much better. I will stop using this the second one of the 3rd party apps is updated.

I feel bad for the programmers honestly, shame on the design team.

Good app but please read!

WarhammerAgeofSigmar functions really well but is plagued bye greedy monitization! For starters they will be making it unusable offline causing various issues through no fault of your own using a method to verify if you subscribed. Subscription is a fee to use multiple armies and even if you subscribe you can’t use any army unless you buy their individual battletome. Which will cause issues with cheating because if you don’t acquire your opponents tome you can’t see if they are following the rules. Which will be very problematic.

Double Paywall

Do not buy the battletomes! GW has double paywalled the rules for their already ridiculously pricey game. WarhammerAgeofSigmar seems fine, but if I have to pay for an app subscription and then pay $50 for the battletome of each of my armies (which is be outdated in about a month), then I will just cancel my subscription and find the rules for free on better apps. GW would sell more miniatures and have more players if they didn’t price gouge the rules to their games.

Awful paywalls

Locking warscrolls behind paywalls is a massive mistake. I’ve had issues where my opponent doesn’t fully understand their warscroll, especially with the new edition, and since I could read it I could make sure the rules were followed. Now I’m expected to not only buy the battletome for my own army but for every other army that comes out!? And I’m a Warhammer+ subscriber! Considering cancelling Warhammer+ because WarhammerAgeofSigmar is now useless

Drop down after drop down!!!

1 million dropouts for no reason at all the last app was perfect. Now your new stupid color chart system supposed to be new player friendly, now new players at memorize your stupid color chart before they can use this annoying app. so they know what abilities go off and what phase instead of just putting “in the charge phase.”

Anti-consumer paywalls

This game app is a tool for playing games competitively and with friends. When a faction gets its Battletome, the warscrolls (unit rules) are now placed behind a paywall. We players need to be able to reference our opponent’s unit rules for a positive play experience. Removing historically available warscroll information makes navigating the game an unpleasant and frustrating experience. Please, for the sake of your loyal customers, make all faction’s warscrolls free to view.

Not worth your time. Use 3rd party apps

Not worth time or money. Interface is clunky and is often hard to navigate. Finding the core rules you need when you run into a problem is difficult. To make it worse it’s now hidden behind a paywall, you cannot see content you do not own. You can no longer check if your opponent is playing the rules properly

So many clicks

Doing anything in WarhammerAgeofSigmar requires a significant amount of clicks. It’s 6 click to just view a warscroll, which is a basic piece of information I would want to be able to quickly reference.

Everything is presented as embedded lists, which are annoying to navigate and difficult to find relevant information unless you know where it is already.

Disappointed

Been playing Age of Sigmar since launch and the one thing that has been consistent is the warscrolls were always free for consumer use. The extra stuff being behind getting a book was fine and I could even understand it.

Now it just seems like GW is just trying to waste everyone’s time and kill their own game.

Bad move GW and its one that will hurt you in the long run.

Trash

EA… I mean GW at it again, we went from a fairly easy to use army creation system and app that allowed for fun versatile lists with a supportive app that allowed you to view units abilities, infection, related information nearly free to this trash 40K knock off, we inevitably we will be required to subscribe to Warhammer plus to make more than one list on this complicated convoluted mess of an app. If I wasn’t clear it’s trash, god willing this actually gets read by a dev. for WarhammerAgeofSigmar your a dirty sell out and this is an abomination it what WarhammerAgeofSigmar was. Thanks

Same poor design from the 40K app

Games workshop still struggles to develop apps that are easy to use. There are too many drop-downs. It takes 4 taps to navigate to see what an ability does on my unit in an army list. Re-enforcing a unit takes an extra tap than the previous app. WarhammerAgeofSigmar is slower to load and the new layout is not as clean as the previous app. Why change a design that works to one that everyone hated when 10th 40K was released?

I wish GW would make apps for their other games like Legion Imperialus or Horus Heresy but it seems like independent indie developers with no monetization do a better job of making software than a company with 4.5 billion in market cap.

Okay, but needs quality of life updates

WarhammerAgeofSigmar itself is okay, but it requires so many taps to get between relevant information that it’s easier to just use other resources. It needs to be much easier to swap between warscrolls at a minimum, and would be nice if it displayed all the spells/prayers/manifestations/rampages etc available to your list in one space to make it easier and quicker to find.

Hey let’s take something that works and make it worse

Too many drops downs, no “command bunker”, no way to save favorite rules for a quick reference. The 40K app worked pretty well, just had to copy it and of course that all got buggered. You had one job, copy/paste, change the colors to make it bright🤣

So much clicking

Why format it this way just have the warscroll up when you click on a unit why do I have to click then click and click then click and click. Also there is a glitch where the search function doesn’t let me click on it.
App is definitely over complicated I wouldn’t pay a dime for this.

Another Edition, Another Mediocre App

I’ll keep it simple:

-The heading for abilities cuts off with no way to view the rest of it, which is very important in 4th Ed as it tells you when you can use the ability and how often
-Far too many taps to view any actually useful information, every time, everywhere

Would have been better if it wasn’t going to be gated

Title, what’s the point if they are going to slowly close off your lists unless you pay them more?

dropdown

dropdown dropdown dropdown dropdown dropdown dropdown dropdown …. Oh yeah that’s what that ability does.

But seriously I wouldn’t be as critical if WarhammerAgeofSigmar this replaced wasn’t excellent. But come on guys. Hit button -> receive warscroll. How hard was that.

Will update score if it improves.

Feel like a downgrade

Every action take additional menus and steps to preform. Something that could be a simple click now requires you to open multiple screens and open needless drop-down boxes. This will take longer for using as a quick reference. Feels cumbersome.

It works I guess

The new app does allow you to build lists and read the rules...in a format that is way worse than the 3e version.

Why is every ability collapsed after they specifically condensed the number of abilities? Playing out of WarhammerAgeofSigmar will be a nightmare

Promising, but bad formatting

A promising app, but a lot of wasted screen real estate. Huge headers, tiny descriptions, all the important information obscured. I like that fields are collapsable, so that you can focus on what your interested in, but the over-large category headers make it impossible to have all the information on the screen. There’s no reason for a header to be twice the size of the information it contains, to the extent that trying to see even four categories pushes some of the information off the bottom of the screen.

Start everything auto expanded

It takes far too many taps to view anything. Just make every warscroll screen start with every element expanded.

Step in the right direction

When I first saw photos of what the new app would look like, I did notice it was basically copying the UI aspects of the 40K app. That is not a bad thing to me, but what makes me confused is the lack of a “command bunker” type addition to WarhammerAgeofSigmar’s own list builder. I do hope that if it is separate teams that developed the apps, they would communicate and share how they did it for 40K so AoS can have their own “command bunker” style addition. I just have hope that this is a step in the right direction but that it should not stop here.

In addition, the ability to see legend warscrolls is amazing, I do wish the 40K app had the recent legends data sheets in there. I don’t expect these to remain forever, probably just for a year, but I still think it is a good addition.

Good start

Just like with the 40K app, this is a good place to start from. Couple QoL tweaks like reducing the number of clicks to get places, will improve the experience greatly. Weirdly aggressive 1-star reviews already, but who’s surprised by that?

All in all, not bad at all, just needs some tweaking as the edition unfolds

Great App!

I really like the new format for the AoS 4th Edition App, however, I wish like the 40K App they would provide a button to see everything at once with your army including your Army rules, Warscrolls, Enhancements, etc. If that was fixed it’d be in my opinion perfect!

Wake up honey, new Sigmar app dropped

It has some UI lag, but dependencies sure that will be fixed quickly. If you like the modern 40K app, you will like this one. Basically the same thing. Army builder is good. Rules ref is dope.

Solid design and UX

It’s hard to keep all of this information organized and accessible. This makes the mess that was bookkeeping simple and elegant. I actually understand how to build a list.

As far as areas for improvement, I would like features for iPad like multitasking and landscape mode.
