I have a problem

Hi at the start of the game when I enter the village after like 5 to 10 minutes from the start the game turn off
I tried to go in low settings and in medium settings and still have the same problem

By

It’s resident evil but needs its bugs fixed

I’m a big time fan of the resident evil franchise and have been for quite some time now and was so excited when I had heard it was coming to iPhone 15, it plays just it would on a console I’ll be it with some rendering sacrifices but plays pretty smooth.. that is until it crashes on you mid game and you have to but up ResidentEvilVillage again, now I’ve checked to see if it’s the graphic settings I’ve choose and even set them to the lowest performance settings and it still crashes on me when playing mid game so please developers if your reading this may you please fix this issue as soon as possible.. I really wanna put it up there as a five star app but can’t due to how the game is behaving after having spent my money on this game

By

It felt like it is basically an emulator version

I couldn’t help but feel disappointed when I tried the Resident Evil Village mobile game. It’s as if they’ve taken an emulator version and slapped it onto mobile devices, resulting in very low-quality graphics. The immersive and visually stunning world of Resident Evil Village from the original console version has been reduced to a pixelated and lackluster experience on mobile.

What baffled me the most was the decision to lock the base game behind in-app purchases. It’s as if the developers are trying to generate more downloads at the cost of the players’ experience. Resident Evil Village deserves better treatment, and this mobile adaptation falls short of capturing the essence and quality of the original.

Play it in winter if you’re cold.

This is guaranteed to turn your phone into the perfect hand warmer. No longer do you need to do something nonsensical like running your hands together. Playing this game for just 30 minutes was enough for my phone to feel like it was ready to self immolate.

The display dimmed after 15 minutes of gameplay with the default settings, which really helped since you already can’t see a dang thing in this game.

Apple maybe should have considered putting a more robust cooling system in the 15 Pro lineup, but, alas, they didn’t.

If you have a controller grip you’ll probably be fine (if you’re cool with 20% an hour battery drain) but overall I would recommend anyone choosing this as their way to play the game.

Played on a 15 Pro Max for 30 minutes, got to the scene where the lady come over the radio asking about survivors.

Don’t know how Apple pulled it off

Total file size with all DLC is about 15GB, amazing. Turned graphics settings to max and played half an hour on iPhone 15 Pro Max and battery dropped from 100 to 95, I was expecting a much faster drain. I don’t know what tricks Apple is using but it is incredible. I have been complaining for years about the lack of console games on mobile and I am so excited to finally have them back.

SUPERB with minor Audio bug in M1 iPad Pro

The game looks phenomenal with High settings in Quality mode on the M1 iPad Pro. The one thing i notice is that the Audio unsyncs in-between Scenes from the characters lips movements. However if you Pause and Unpause it fixes itself…. Maybe is due to the high settings (or not) but it’s definitely a bug right out of the gate.

I am playing on 60fps at 1600p res. Textures no more than 1gb. Bloom and Lens flare off.

By

Color me impressed

The title ran perfectly on my m1 iPad at full specs, taking advantage of virtual memory swap. No slowdowns and full frame rate (I do have a TEC IPad cooler though, so I’m sure that made a difference. That being said the price is fair for the full game, and I look forward to downloading it again when I can afford it and checking the rest of the game out. Amazing work dev team.

By

Amazing!

Game runs great for it being on an iPhone 15 pro max. I used the backbone with it and it worked flawlessly. Default touch controls layout is not ideal but after repositioning my buttons, adjusting opacity/size and changing the aim to toggle instead of hold, it’s a completely viable way to play. Can’t wait for resident evil 4 and death stranding now knowing how well this runs!

By

Amazing

It’s crazy I can play this on my phone. Not only that but it runs and looks great. There are a ton of graphical settings too. Best of all is the price, so cheap even with the dlc. If you have an iphone 15 pro or pro max and like gaming, this is for you. This title shows that mobile is more than capable of AAA games and it can’t be ignored as a “console” any longer.

By

It‘s so fun.

When I played on the computer, I was very satisfied with this game. When I learned that the iPhone 15 could play this game, I bought one directly to play Resident Evil 8. Feeling the great fatherly love from it can be said to be the best work of the Ethan series. It is exciting😵‍💫, scary 😱and scary, and is deeply loved by me, a Chinese player. I'm already looking forward to December's Resident Evil 4🤩🤩🤩

Port of the console version

I’m actually really surprised that this is running natively on the iPhone and now being streamed. It looks so awesome and it’s exactly like the console counterpart! Now I can finally play resident evil when I’m on the go! Super glad that Capcom was able to do this, can’t wait for RE4 Remake to be available on here too!

By

Wow!!

Can’t believe we’re at this point where PC/Console games are on mobile, fully. It plays really great. Has all the settings of its PC counterpart. I’m fully impressed here. Capcom please consider bringing Resident Evil 2 and 3 over. Would love to play them on the go. Kudos to you and your team of Devs! This game plays incredibly well.

By

Needs better touch controls

Fantastic/ unbelievable full console quality port but severely limited by on screen touch controls.

Developers need to look at Alien Isolation and adapt a similar, custom on screen control scheme for RE Village. Hopefully this will get done soon.

By

Welcome to the App Store

I find it hard to believe that Apple did not personally help you get this into ResidentEvilVillage Store, yet this is catastrophically unusable for the dumbest reasons. If you want me to download your massive asset package, then you have to turn off the screen timer. If you think I’m going to tap on the screen every 30 seconds for 45 minutes, then here’s a one-star review for wasting my time.

I hit send, and then it also occurred to me that you ALSO want $60 from me 🤣 jfc

By

Incredible on iPhone

It’s crazy to think you can play a high quality game like this on your phone that is in your pocket! Runs great and super smooth. Love that they let you try it before you pay for the full game

By

WOW

This game runs great on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. A controller is pretty much required, unless you like buttons all over your screen. Never thought I’d see the day where we can play a game like this on an iPhone. That’s crazy.

Also first review.
:D

By

There is no audio

I can’t hear anything from the game. Do I have to use Xbox controller and BT headset?

I am using iPad Pro 12.9

By

This is a mediocre game

Compared with playing this game on a computer, it will be difficult for you to operate it if you play it on a mobile phone. It is difficult for you to aim at monsters because there are too many buttons and the experience is poor.

By

Hot phone, lag city

After 30 minutes on my iPhone 15 Pro Max the game slows to a crawl and has crashed twice - even with settings on recommended. To be fair I do have a case on my phone which probably isn’t helping. I’ll try it again without the case and see if it’s any better.

By

How!?

I have no idea how they got this running so well on an iPad. I tend to care more for visuals than frame rate so I aimed for high res/30fps and man. It plays super well. iPad heats like crazy but still. I’m playing RE Village on an iPad!

Great with an iPad Pro ‘M’ class & Dual Sense Controller via USB-C. Make an M1 iPad Mini!

Having played this on several platforms now. I can definitely say that iOS holds up well to the MacOS AND PC versions. It is responsive when using a Sony Dual Sense via USB-C and the upcoming ‘Gaming Lens’ mount. Sadly the ideal iPad for gaming that would compete well with small AMD gaming consoles like the Steam Deck, would be the iPad Mini, which was notably missing from any 2023 Apple events. With an ‘M’ class processor, 8GB memory & 256GB or 512GB storage, along with 5G connectivity, would make this both a cloud and local gaming “Elephant” to contend with. Otherwise, like the Goldilocks tale, running Resident Evil Village is either too big or too small on what it can be run on, with the iPad Mini being “just right” if it was available.

Also, even the M1 runs hot and you can see the battery drain right before your eyes. I’d say 1-2 hours will be max on a charge. Of course you can run it charging, but then you lose the low latency USB controller connection. You can use a powered USB hub, but than you are left with tangle of cables, and frankly this is suppose to be a “mobile” experience. I guess the good thing is the competition doesn’t fair very well either for battery powered use.

Overall, a smart direction for Apple. Oh and don’t forget ‘Alien Isolation’ also exist, and will run on the iPad Mini 6th generation too.

Honest opinion (15 Pro Max)

Game runs okay 30-60fps i dont think i was able to play at 120 even if the option was available, Graphics it can be change as you please but it will be laggy. On high settings the phone will definitely get hot, the phone will defined need a cooling fan added to the back On medium and low the phone will only get warm Now when it comes to gameplay and controls feel I personally prefer the touch controls over a controller. And here is why with a controller i noticed a lot of input lag which made it difficult to play but with the touch controls i felt much quicker as if i was playing COD mobile, the touch controls can be customized but not fully i was definitely enjoying the game once i found the right combination of settings for myself. This whole new console game coming to iPhone has a HUGE potential i just dont feel like the current iPhones 15 pros dont have the hardware to make the games fully enjoyable and competitive once other games come to the library. PS. I really wish apple would release a controller that you can attach to your phone ( on the sides ) that leaves the back of the phone free to where you can add a cooling fan, a cooling fan is definitely needed. Also i wish apple would give the iphones external monitor option to avoid black bars when connected to a monitor via hdmi or usb c

Almost perfect!

Game runs extremely smooth and is beautiful on my 11 inch M2 iPad Pro with 8GB of RAM!! I can’t imagine how much better it looks on the 16GB of RAM that the larger iPads have. Love the customization options, love the fact that it doesn’t take me 2-3 days to download like it does on my PS5 and Xbox Series S (I have horrible internet). My only issue is the black bars on my iPad, I wish I could play it at full screen just like the iPhone and just like how genshin allows on the iPad. Much more satisfying and immersive experience. Again, LOVE the customization options! If apple keeps pumping out AAA games and release them day and date with the consoles/pc then I feel no need to run and grab a gaming pc!! Hopefully Dragons Dogma 2 comes & arrives on the release date!

Would love if apple started creating AAA story driven and multiplayer exclusives of their own👀 you know, to prove just how seriously they’re taking gaming now..wishful thinking

Would be Higher

First of let me say, I’m impressed with the current landscape of mobile gaming. Being able to play resident evil on the iPhone is great. However, it comes with its caveats. Personally, the graphics are great and it’s the mobile controls are understandable but a separate controller is definitely needed to play well. To keep this review spoiler free I’ll speak vaguely. The game is very unstable after finishing a certain boss fight level and cut scene with the merchant. It manages to crash almost every and leaves you unable to progress. Even if you manage to get past that scene it’ll randomly crash shortly after. I double even tripled checked to see if it was a Graphical issue but to no avail . I even re did the missions to make sure it wasn’t a case of a bad save file But at last it did not work. I hope they would fix the crashing Quickly as I’m not the only one experiencing this . Considering you’ll just have a unfinished-able game after paying Them .

I don’t think some people are seeing the big picture.

The fact this is on a phone is a milestone in gaming! First, on the main page it recommends to use a controller. I use a backbone and it works and runs perfect. I do not plan on using touch controls. Second, graphics are adjustable and on certain settings can make you stop and look around. The phone for me at the settings I run does not over heat and if I max out the graphics I would expect it too. PCs and consoles have fans and they still get hot and run loud. Why wouldn't a phone with no fans? Yes, there are some glitches and some voice sync issues but nothing game breaking on my end and I am sure there will be updates and fixes. For the first at bat Capcom great job! I will show my support for the hard work that went into this. Already purchased and will be buying RE4.

By

No problems here, pure awesomeness!!!

I adjusted the graphics to hit the sweet spot! I read a couple of reviews saying they don’t have the 120hz option on their phone? I have it so I don’t know what their issue is but I hope they get it resolved. My experience with the actual game is amazing!!! I had only a couple of fps drops but nothing crazy, I play with a backbone controller and it works splendidly! I’m so excited for the potential of more games coming to the mobile market. This is was something that was needed a long time coming to other options than the P2W games that have flooded the markets. One game, one price thank you! This game is absolutely worth it, especially if you have a controller.

Not what was expected

I have played through both ps4 and ps5 versions on all difficulties and achieved 100%. I could only play through to were I was about to see the first view of the village after the beginning car crash, before the game crashed. The game audio doesn’t match up with the characters when they speak. I’m running a new iPhone 15 pro max. And the game struggles to maintain frame rate and stability. Two tests have been done to test both the highest resolution and frames etc. as well as the lowest. Both of which I’ve experienced game crashes and frame rate drops. With the graphics and all being at max. The game visually looks like it’s on a PS3.
Hopefully there’s improvements going forward, and I look forward to seeing how things go for this beautiful game.

It’s RE8.

It’s a great port to mobile. Am I mad that I’m not getting to play this at 8k 240fps? No. I couldn’t do that on my pc anyways. But I am on my 3rd play through on my iPad so far and this game is amazing. Yes it has some bugs but to be able to actually play re8 and not rely on a cloud service I can deal with the bugs. If you’re a resident evil fan I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you get this. For the people complaining about having to buy the game after you download. REALLY? Why is that a problem? I would kill if every game that came out gave me the chance to play it before actually buying it. Stop complaining and get this now.

Handheld Gaming Evolution

So far I am about 6 hours into this game on my 15PM and I must say this has blown me away. The experience of playing this game on my phone reminds me of the first time I played my Switch. A full blow Triple A experience on a small convenient device I carry around everyday. Don’t be fool you definitely need a controller but thats fine since I would much rather play with a controller.

I recommend this game to anyone to buy and try. This really makes me hope that capcom and other companies start bringing more games over to the iOS platform. I would love to see Monster Hunter, Dragons Dogma, and SF 6 on here.

Love Touch Controls as Disabled Gamer

I have a C4 Spinal Cord Injury and can’t move my fingers. As a result I can’t use a controller even the mediocre Xbox adaptive controller. Don’t get rid of the touch controls. I say this because I see people putting 1 star for the touch controls but what they don’t seem to understand is that touch controls gives disabled people like me who loves resident evil the ability to play like everyone else. Overall great game. I’m loving it but you do need to fix the bugs because the dialogue doesn’t match the scene.

By

Dear developers

Dear developers the game is amazing and runs amazingly good on both the M2 ipad and on the 15 pro max. Graphics amazing, my only concern is the buttons layout, its just terrible, there is not words to describe how awful it is, it takes all the screen even though I resized, two much stuff going on.

The only way to enjoy the game is with an xbox or ps controller because your touch controller is awful.

So for me now playing on the go is impossible with that terrible idea of yours. Please do something about it. Design touch controllers for mobile so we can enjoy the game on the go. I don’t wanna be on the bus or on the train playing with a controller. Is not ideal. For now you are only getting one star. When you guys fix the touch controllers. Definitely give 5

By

Needs optimizing

I have the 15 pro on Verizon not sure if carrier is relevant. I also have 256gb storage I’m sure that’s relevant. I tried playing this with my ps5 controller and the controls are so delayed in comparison to the ps5 version. Of course the ps5 is a console so I expect there to be a difference but this is suppose to be fully optimized for the 15 pro/max models and if it’s not optimized for my 15 pro that’s not great. I also played it with just the touch screen, I can’t imagine that’s the best way to play it but again it’s not the best. And I played on default graphical settings and mid range and high end and still experienced the same issues.

By

Incredible PC level port

When I heard games such as RE Villiage, RE4 remake and Death STranding were coming to mobile devices like the iPad and IPhone 15 pro I was incredulous. But since downloading it on my M2 IPad Pro I have been blown away. This is RE8, the full feature release with no compromises.

In addition, the graphical settings to tailor the experience to what you want are amazing and up to par with anything you’d find in a PC release.

The only thing is I would recommend a controller, as playing a game like this with touch screen is atrocious.

By

A good game but I prefer to play on other platforms

It runs pretty stable 60fps I would say. But if you want higher quality then it starts to get a bit sluggish, still very enjoyable though. I tried the demo on iPhone 15 pro max but ended up getting a steam version because I find this game really fun! If you like mobile experience, this iOS version is completely fine. The fact that it now runs modern AAA games is amazing! Really looking forward to RE4 and death stranding now!

By

I respect the effort but…

While I applaud CAPCOM for bringing this to the iPhone and iPads, there’s still a lot of issues. First, there is no full screen mode when using the iPad Pro extended desktop. Next, the controller only display’s information for X-Box controllers. This is really a no go if you’re using a PS5 or Nintendo controller. At times the game feels sluggish even with the settings turned down. The camera is hard to turn and aim due to choppy issues in frame rate.

Now issues for players who purchased this on the Mac App Store. Resident Evil Village is not a universal app. Meaning not only do you have to purchase it again, the save data from iOS and iPad OS will not work with the MacOS. And achievements in Game Center are tracked separately.

By

Amazing!

I cannot believe this game is running natively on a mobile device, after running my game for 30 minutes, 900p , medium settings, metal FX Quality, I had a stable and enjoyable gameplay! Looks amazing!!!!! I can’t wait for the future gaming on mobile. Assassins creed has my eye but this game ran beautiful for a mobile game. After 30 minutes my phone went to 46c , no overheating dimming or anything, and I dropped 12% battery. And I’m in a humid room that’s hot. Amazing.

By

Huge download keeps failing

When you 1st launch the game it notifies you that a > 7 gb transfer is necessary to play. Its states not to quit the game or power off your phone. Problem is your iPhone by default auto-locks after 30 seconds as the game is not programmed to prevent this. Then we you unlock your screen and return to ResidentEvilVillage its has a network error. Restarting the download is not possible. I have tried this 3 different times now and increased auto lock time to 5 minutes. I wanted to support this game given its one of the 1st of its kind. However it really shows that Capcom is new to iPhone app development. Not ready for prime time.

By

Amazing just need optimization

Played the game for a few hours, you need to buy a controller for the best possible experience.

Overall the game runs smooth with some stutter time to time. Some in game cinema have the audio a few seconds off, I had to pause the game for the audio to sync.

I rate the game a 4 stars at its current state, but once the game is optimized I will easily bump it up to 5 stars. It’s amazing to be able to play AAA game on an iPhone, I am excited to see more games.

Triple A Gaming Before US

One: I’m livid with the complaints after my best experience with this game that I’ve had from the Series S and Steam Deck. Do all of you own Series X, PS5, and gaming rigs? So far as I’m concerned, the critics can be ignored with prejudice.
Two: Triple A gaming is now present and alive in the Apple ecosystem: Genshin Impact, Divinity Original Sin 2, Formerly Fortnite, Civilization VI, and Resident Evil Village.
Three: This will help spur the upcoming gaming development now being advertised at present: Resident Evil 4 remake, Warframe, and so many more are coming, let’s not beat the major development company bringing much needed development to our platform while they bring something that was overdue from their competition, including one that abandoned us when they didn’t like the cut that Apple took out which is the same as the cuts that Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, and others take out.
Four: Honestly, I’m inspired to see if I can make an honest go at this, seeing as I can now truly see what the platform is capable of.

Best game I ever Played

Beautiful graphics I don’t know what everyone is complaining about. You just gotta go through the game and enjoy it in the beginning you have to let everything download. Make sure you put your phone next to your Wi-Fi router for faster download. This is the best game I have ever played, and if you don’t like the game, don’t download it but don’t get upset on how the game works. This game is legendary. Congratulations to the creators.

By

Visually stunning! Controller is basically a requirement

I was impressed by how the game allows for all the graphical options you would get on a pc. Runs well on my iPhone 15 Pro, and I can tell that it will run even better as machines get faster and faster.
The only thing is… you basically have to have a controller to player because the touch screen controls are terrible. I know this is a direct port, but they could have done a better job with making the controls more tailored for mobile.
That aside, the game is fantastic!

Easy Performance Fix

For those experiencing slowdowns on A17 Pro devices, the solution is to disable MetalFX upscaling and instead use interlaced scaling and a 1.1 resolution render.

First, and most important, this will mostly eliminate the seemingly random drops to 15-20fps that happens as you traverse around the game world. This is likely because MetalFX is heavily taxing the CPU, which causes the CPU to choke when loading new data as you walk around, resulting in large frame drops.

Second, the game looks much sharper, though there is a little bit of aliasing and pixelation when moving about. Furthermore, with interlaced rendering, the HDR seems to look much better. MetalFX causes the black levels to appear more gray and washed out.

There are still some minor frame drops on my iPhone 15 Pro but it’s largely 30fps with nice image quality and manageable thermal levels.

By

Incredible

I’m amazed at what I’m seeing. I get great performance with lighting settings maxed. I turned metal fx off and graphics and textures between medium or high .5. Get a constant 30fps and the experience with a controller is wonderful. Yes there are haptics that seem similar to ps4. There’s an insane amount of settings, it’s like playing the pc version. I run the game at 720 and find that with metal fx off and the other settings that the experience is very similar to console. It feel’s somewhere between ps4 and ps5 but at 30 fps.

You can hit higher fps but at significant loss to quality. I think the trade off is definitely worth it and having played this game in psvr2 I think that iPhone 15 pro would be a solid way to experience it the first time. That oled and hdr goes a long way.

Amazing iOS port. Impressive Triple A gaming on your iPhone

Honestly this port blew me away. I had my doubts. But they were soon put to rest. Not only does this version include PC options (graphic presets and basically every other customization feature one could ask for outside of mouse and keyboard) but also support for HDMI to usb-c connection for a more traditional play thru make this an excellent return to form for not only Apple taking their gaming division seriously but also Capcom for leading the way on supporting such games. Looking forward to Resident Evil 4: Remake!
