I’m a creative director who began as a graphic designer with over 20 years of experience. I have more subscriptions than I can count to all sorts of design, 3D scan/modeling, AR, photo/video editing and AI apps. I am an expert in almost every adobe application and I stay up to date on the latest releases and updates from multiple developers because the only way to be good at my job is to know know what’s out there, what’s possible and how quickly can something get done while maintaining a pre determined quality standard. AND this is my first review I’ve ever written. I say all this to hopefully establish some credibility when reading my review. Doly is grossly overpriced. It works in credits or a subscription that comes with credits but that’s a laugh when you do the math. Here’s the breakdown: 1 Credit = 1 scan which then becomes 1 video You are given 1 Credit at sign up for free Want more credits? Well… 3 Credits = $39.99 5 Credits = $59.99 But wait what about the subscription? If you subscribe you save a whopping $10 at the monthly rate which is: Sub one month - 5 Credits = $49.99 Or pay for a year up front for $379.00 and still only get 5 credits a month… well can you export? yes for one credit… Polycam is the leader in this space, they did it first and offer this exact feature as apart of their monthly subscription and you can do 100 other crazy things with your scan as well. You get 99 scans a month for only $24.99. Exporting is obviously included and you get it in any resolution and in any format you want. Doly is a joke and the UI looks like it’s for 5 year olds because they are targeting the people who think 3D scanning/animation is up there with rocket science and brain surgery but might run an Etsy shop or sell things online a lot and so the “it’s so easy look at the soft corners and happy vibe and big colorful buttons” kind theme is meant to make you think you’ve got this and won’t question the price. Polycam is just as easy it’s the same process, very easy and you don’t have to feel like a grownup drinking a monster energy when you use it. So guys I’m sorry to just go off on you like this but come on.. times are hard enough we don’t need this, nobody does. Get competitive or get lost when the literal endless competitors you have out there just decide to add this function to their already far cheaper subscription models.

It wants a password which one I can not create one as it refuses my iCloud address confusing. It does not like me

I couldn’t figure out how to get past the instructions which is a feature that might need to be modified but the results are pretty amazing. Looking forward to testing it out with various products.

Conceptually, this app is extremely innovative and paves the way for small businesses to further their accessibility to higher quality forms of content creation on a budget. Leveraging the latest in 3D and AI technology, this app really is a great way to show off certain products, buts it’s imperative to pay attention to the guides and understand, fundamentally, how it works.

this app uses advanced forms of 3d scanning to create a digital replica of your product. All things equal, these 3d scanning techniques, all of them, are never going to be perfectly, 100% accurate and realistic, so it’s imperative that you understand this point. On the flip side, all things equal, the cost to a small business owner to leverage and learn this app is significantly less than the cost of a professional animator who would charge, easily $500 + for the work this app produces.

this app is a great app conceptually and in execution. If you’re experiencing trouble, you’re likely using it wrong.

Nice app
Very interesting app, it makes you "scan" your product by taking photos on different angles and can then generate professionnal-looking videos. My first scan was not great but the second one was much better! Scanning takes a bit of time but the experience is nice

Doly is super impressive. This is the first time I see this capability in any app. I was able to make a cool video for my product in 1hr and choose from a variety of templates. The processing time is a bit long for now I feel, I wish it could be faster!

It’s actually pretty amazing what Doly can do. And they are constantly making adjustments, improvements, new templates. Very happy with Doly. I assume anyone who does a poor rating is because they aren’t smart enough to follow their directions.

I am so impressed with Doly. It takes a very complex task (scanning an object) and walks you through it step by step in a way that makes it simple. And the final results look great!
