I like to think of myself as a clever person but the responses I got from some of my guesses just made me more confused. Some have no relation to the word so the game was actively not helping me get the answer. Most of the time I gave up and had to watch an ad to see the answer.

I think it’s a great concept and it caught my attention but it’s too aggravating to play and it just makes you miserable. So stay away as of right now.

This game obviously doesn't know what's close to the word. Like I put thing and it was like 100, put home it was 10. The answer? Family. Like I'm sorry, family isn't a thing, it's people. A thing is an inanimate object.

The next one. I put place, it was like 200. The answer? Video. Again, a video is not a place. It needs to stop ranking the incorrect words that are nowhere near the word as a "close word" when it's not close whatsoever.

This would be a fun game if A) it wasn't completely plastered with third-party ads and pleas to buy their in-game currency, and B) it allowed you to TURN OFF THE HINTS IT GIVES YOU RIGHT OFF THE BAT. Every round it just hands you 4 words within 100 relevancy points on a silver platter, making it extremely easy to guess the word in less than 5 tries.

I don't actually think it's a one-star game — it has a nice UI and minimalistic theme that happens to be completely covered over by desperate monetization. I also have no problem with people making games inspired by Semantle; it's a fantastic genre and I would love to see more of them. I have a problem with desperate cash-grab games that are designed to encourage a gambling habit and are worse in every respect than their source material. I just think everyone rating it highly hasn't heard of Semantle and so don't know what a downgrade this is.

This game may look interesting, but it’s really a cheap, overstuffed, ugly, low quality bore. This game is neither fun nor entertaining. The menu is stuffed with flat buttons like Wordscapes with worse graphics and no nature. The AI works so bad, and will leave you scrambling for minutes trying to find a simple word that doesn’t even make sense. Every a second is another cluttered micro transaction trying to get in your face. The “art” is basically non-existent. This whole game is basically rectangles and words. Every graphic design choice reeks of being made in Unity after three second using the editor for the first name. Don’t download this game, staring at a brick wall for an hour straight would be a better use of your time.

I got an ad when I opened Contexto , after every level, and, on one level, after my fifth guess. The game starts every level with two hints, so no levels took me more than 10 guesses. It was 10-30 seconds of puzzling, followed by 15 seconds of ad. Devs should make money from their games but this is a little ridiculous, especially because this is not an original game. Would recommend you play semantle in your browser instead

Do you think that the words man and home lead to car? Or engineer and scientist lead to computer? Or maybe man and lot lead to teacher?
There are way too many options and all you get is that “oh, this is a bit closer to your target than this other word.” Great, because I when I choose man, that gets me so much closer to car than land. If you enjoy so many mental gymnastics that an olympian would be jealous of all the hoops you’re jumping through, this game is for you.

The relevance of the words is absolutely arbitrary. Guessed the word “room”, which was 23 words away from the right one. Would you have guessed the word after would be “go”? How about after that being “next”? The final word was “night”, right after all the days of the week. Calendar was 4,000 away from the final word. I get you aren’t going to be guessing every word before the final one but my god, at least make it make sense

fun idea and enjoyed it at first, but some of the point values make no sense; the game becomes frustrating. for example, if the word is "car" why does "motorcycle" have a point value in the single digits, but "racecar" (you know, a TYPE of car...) has a value in the triple digits? this game is full of nonsensical relation values like this. makes me curious how they determine it.

also, sometimes a word will work in a level and sometimes it won't. "rent" was a valid word in the "car" level, but in the next one, the game suddenly didn't know that extremely common word and corrected it to "rend"

It’s a fun game and although it’s repetitive, it does keep your brain thinkin. Still, there are ads every 2-3 minutes and even when you wait the 5-10 seconds to skip it, it takes you to the ad page, where you have to wait another 5 seconds to exit out of the mobile game trial, just for it to push a third ad with a 5-second skip timer that is advertising the same application or website. So every 2-3 minutes, there is an ad that’s 20-30 seconds even if you click the Xs as soon as they appear. This makes it annoying. Unless you are to disconnect from the internet and turn airplane mode on, this game’s main source of frustration is how many dumb Chicken Simulator advertisements that pop up.

When you get your daily present, you have the option to double your reward by watching an ad…or so you think! Every time I try to watch the ad to double my reward, I get the following message “ads not available now, try later”! BUT you can’t try again later…you have to click on “no thanks” because if you close that window…you LOSE the reward altogether. Don’t offer me something and then not deliver! I’d rather not be offered than to be duped!! I’m deleting Contexto!!

I have been playing this game for about a week. Then it started acting up. Now I can’t view the box where you enter a word and all the lines below the box show “STUDENT 14” (7 lines in total). It has also changed my level to 11 when I’m at least at level 50. I have closed out of Contexto and restarted my iPad but the problems remain. If these errors are fixed, I will raise my rating.

The game itself is interesting and challenging but the sheer number of ads is infuriating. You get an ad every 30 seconds or so even if you haven’t finished the current puzzle. Each ad takes 20 to 30 seconds to complete which means you spend a lot more time watching ads than playing the game. There were a couple of times I couldn’t find a way out of the ad and had to quit the game. I know the creators make more money force feeding ads rather than allowing people to buy their way out of the ads but maybe an option of paying $3 for 10 hours of ad free gameplay might be a compromise. With the current strategy it took me less than 10 minutes to delete the game.

latest update says crash was fixed. Nope. Crashes constantly, after less than 1 minute of play. What a pain. Yes- I have the latest version of everything.

UPDATE: The crashing is fixed. Kind of wish I had the problem back, because the “problem” was that Contexto crashed instead of playing ads. Now I get the frequent ad interruptions. Yippee.

That aside, a few improvements in UI could be made, like swipe or speak to text. It would also be nice to see the number ranking of an already-guessed word. It is highlighted, but you have to hunt. Some rankings don’t make sense, like friend and friendship can be far apart. And some tenses or plurals are wrong or odd. Try entering “rent” and see what happens, as one example. I like the concept, but plenty of room for refinements.

I really enjoy the game itself, however there are so many ads it becomes almost unplayable. I’m aware you can pay to remove the ads, however you shouldn’t have to pay $2.99 just for Contexto to work. I have to turn my phone on airplane mode any time i want to play just so I don’t get an ad every other word. Extremely extremely frustrating.

Honestly, I would really enjoy this game if it weren’t for the ridiculous amount of lengthy ads.
I understand you want me to pay for them to be removed but I can’t even play long enough to gain a connection to the game.
Each minute that passes waiting for every single ad to stop reminds me that I have better things to do with my time.

This game has way way way to many ads. You close out of Contexto to answer a text you get an ad when you get back on every single time. This is pointless to download if you don’t pay money to remove ads. It’s just as after ad after ad, barely get to play the game to busy clicking out of ads. Wouldn’t be a bad game if there weren’t so many god dam ads.

It’s not a great game in that most people(myself included) expect to have the rules/mechanics of a game given to them when they start it. But there is a little bit of fun to be had for a lot of the reasons people don’t like this game. The associations between words don’t make a whole ton of sense intuitively, so the fun I’ve been able to have is in trying to figure out/predict what the games sense of logic/association is. Definitely not fun in the traditional sense, more just frustrating in an oddly interesting way

The game was fun and very challenging however…..I understand you need ads to keep the game free but when they interrupt in the middle of play it’s not worth it. It ruins your train for thought. I deleted the second an ad interrupted my guessing. I’d accept the ads at the end of each round but not the way it is now.

I like the idea of this game but it has a few aspects that could be improved to make it an overall better experience.
One small one could be to show the relevant point value of a word you’ve already guessed when you type it in again. I appreciate the notification that I’ve already guessed that word, but if I’ve guessed 200+ words I’ve probably forgotten how relevant that individual word is, and could do with a reminder.
A much more difficult to add improvement would be to consolidate synonyms. I’ve noticed there are a lot of words that mean the exact same thing, but have very different point values. “App” and “application” for instance, on one puzzle “application” was green and had a point value of less than 100, while “app” had a point value in the 4000’s. They mean the same thing. I know this gets tricky when it comes to homonyms, but I think that can be navigated by having separate entries for the different meanings of common homonyms, like “app (appetizer)” and “app (application)”. Going that route would allow players to clarify which meaning they intended whenever they type a homonym, so if they type “app” they could get a popup asking which of the different meanings they want to submit. Or, they could just immediately receive the point values for each of the meanings. Again, it would be a tedious improvement to implement, but it would be extremely useful and would help the game feel less arbitrary

I don’t have much to say. Honestly, the game is amazing because it gives you the option to have an ad. But unlike other games, they don’t force you to watch ads. In conclusion, this game is very great.

Ad’s are a part of life so I won’t complain about it, but for $2.99 to have them gone forever, super easy choice. Don’t mind putting that on my credit card for the month haha.

Very happy with how stable the actual app is. Not glitchy, and not always giving pop ups for buying more IGC. Gifts every few levels is also very pleasant!

All in all, 5 stars without ads! With ads, still probably at least 4.5.

this app is fun and good. The words are intuitive, you have to think outside the box sometimes, and it challenges you turn around your approach to what you know.

There was a recent update and the blue color on the words when you are at higher accuracy changed color to a weird murky green and idk why it bothers me so much😭😭
Besides that i love this game

This is the most interesting idea for a game in a long time. A groundbreaking use of AI. This is going to be the foundation for a completely new genre of games. I can see how people could nitpick the algorithm. For me, though, figuring out the details of the underlying model is the most fun part of gaming. One idea for anew feature would be a multiplayer option where you could create your own list of words that others can guess. (Implemented similar to a game like “Orbit” on Contexto Store.)
