Nanit Sound and Light Reviews

I just got this item and I tried to connect my sound machine about 10 times. Everything is done correctly but NanitSoundandLight keeps saying to troubleshoot. I literally did all the prompts they told me. Restarted my machine, reconnected the WiFi, etc. I’m super annoyed because this is the only sound machine I found that works on battery for a long time and works in a plug with an app. For the price of this I would expect things to actually work.

Similar to another reviewer I am also disappointed that this is a separate app. I’ll likely change my review if there is an option for better integration with the Camera itself.

I’d love to see rules or automations that allow me to have the light or sound dim after X time that the baby is detected to be sleeping. Or by using the camera to determine the lumens of the room and turn off based off that value. Or use the camera to determine color temperature.

Side note why is the Nanit one of the few products I can’t get connected to Home Assistant… this is a big miss for people to help build out the infrastructure and software like the ones I’m suggesting above.

Honestly the quality of the sound machine is outstanding as well as the light settings. However, the volume & brightness controls on NanitSoundandLight are truly awful. It’s incredibly frustrating to have to swipe up and down and hoping it lands on just the right setting to not wake up the baby. This is because it takes a few seconds for NanitSoundandLight to the transmit changes to the device. Also, if your finger slips and you accidentally touch higher up on the volume or light scale, it’ll immediately jump up from whatever setting it was, to the new spot where your finger touched. Meaning your volume could go from 20% to 100% instantly. This is particularly frustrating when you’re sleep deprived at 4 am and you accidentally startle your infant awake. All in all, I wish NanitSoundandLight allowed you to change the setting in which you could adjust your controls gradually. Having more control over this would be beneficial as these are not as easy to use as I think the developers thought they would be.

I like the favorites and the light. The sound is high quality. The light can get very bright and vibrant. I like that it can be used as an audio monitor (this is the main differentiator since it also plays sound). Things I wish could be better: 1) a way to dim the clock numbers since they are VERY bright - there is no way we could have it in our master. 2) improve the audio monitoring which is still in “beta” - occasionally the listening mode will drop out and again this is really the key feature. 3) track the cry alerts like how the camera does - yes, there is a phone notification, but then you cannot see a history of alerts in NanitSoundandLight which is helpful if you have a care giver. 4) implement a way to truly only have Amber or Red light since Blue light is bad for babies sleep pattern. 5) integrate it better with the camera app - having two apps is annoying. I guess you’ve made it so you can switch between the two but when you have a care giver… it’s just one more thing.

Everything about the light itself is great, my only complaint is it constantly disconnects from my wifi with the only solution being to hard reset the device and re-join the network. This is the second Nanit light I have and both do the same thing.

My wi-if is nothing fancy, a basic eero with no advanced settings. The only way I’ve found to pair the light itself is to disable the 5ghz band and this allows the light to work temporarily but then stops a few hours later.

This is extremely frustrating and I hope I’m overlooking a simple setting to resolve this as I want to keep the lights.

I like to use NanitSoundandLight to monitor my baby during the day, since the screen is bigger than on my phone; however I am unable to control the sound and light from the nanit app like I can with he phone, which is incredibly annoying. In fact, as far as I can tell, there is no accessories menu in the iPad version, period. Why is this glaring omission a thing?

My app has a horrible time connecting to the sound machine. Sometimes I can control it, sometimes I can’t. This is very frustrating when I try to turn the light off in the middle of the night and the sound goes off too and wakes up my baby. I have to kill NanitSoundandLight very often for it even to connect. It has gotten worse in the 3 months I have used it.
I like the sound machine I just wish NanitSoundandLight connection was better!

I LOVE this sound machine! I used to have the hatch but then got this one and love it soooo much more! I wish they were in the same app as the camera (reason for loosing a star) but otherwise I love it! Perfect shape and size! My daughter loves all the pretty colors and amazing sounds! Nanit is the best!

It’ll be easier to adjust the light and sound if there is a plus and minus button instead of a scrolling. As well as the number for each level to see the change

Despite this being a separate app I think the experience is mostly pretty good. One ask for the dev team though.. please pull the ticket out of the backlog (assuming product has made one for sure on this) for making the light FADE from its current brightness to the new brightness setting when it changes. It doesn’t feel good for the light to instantly shift, it feels jarring and bad. A 1s or 500ms fade would feel a lot better. Overall though I think y’all did a great job on NanitSoundandLight

I enjoy the sound and light machine for my child. I like the feature of setting up nightly routines. Although, I have trouble with setting multiple back to back. The cry detector doesn’t always work like it should. And I was hoping to use the monitoring sound feature while at work when the baby sitter is over but if your not on WiFi you can’t utilize that feature.

Love the device and app; definitely one of our core baby products. Please consider updating NanitSoundandLight to include a color-changing mode. When our baby is awake and wife and I are sleepy, I manually change the colors on the night light using NanitSoundandLight to keep our baby visually stimulated and not fussy. It would be awesome to be able to have a mode that changes colors.

I haven’t had any connection issues, which is the number one concern I had when buying this product. It emits a very bright light and can be turned very low. NanitSoundandLight is beautifully designed and I love being able to control the light from my phone for late night nursing. I would love to see an Apple Watch app added so that it’s even easier for me at night. Thank you!!

An amazing device. Love all the options. White noise doesn’t really sound right but so many other options. Only flaw is you can’t turn the actual sound on by pushing the button on the device. Must be done by your phone. Not a deal breaker. Would recommend.

I love this thing! NanitSoundandLight is awesome, lots of different colors and settings. My only complaint is that when you turn the light off while the sound is running, it makes the sound skip and kind of shut off for a few seconds. But really not that big a deal.

I absolutely love this! The selection and quality of sounds are amazing. The light quality is top-notch, and my baby LOVED it! He slept through the night for the first time when I used the white noise!

NanitSoundandLight is easy to navigate, and it made set-up very simple!

I was concerned I might have trouble connecting, because I’ve had trouble with other devices at home, but NanitSoundandLight ‘s instructions made set-up pretty straightforward.

We LOVE this product. We use everyday and have taken it everywhere we go. So many different sound options to choose from and love the off white light for middle of the night changes. Super easy to use.
