It’s so bad it’s awesome

It’s really fun to confuse the AI with crazy prompts. It really makes way more interesting pictures than the other AI apps that aim to feed into people’s vanity. I’ve been addicted to coming up with as crazy a combination of words in prompts to see what it comes up with.

TERRIBLE! DOES NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE YOU!

What a rip off! I uploaded 12 pics and followed instructions exactly as they were listed. There was maybe one or two of the pics that resembled me but the rest were not even close. It looked like they just sent me a bunch of random pics of different people. I wish I could get my money back.
Don’t waste your time or money. BeFake does not work well at all!

Have been waiting over a month… still nothing

I downloaded BeFake before thanksgiving and have been waiting for my pictures to be generated since… so far still nothing. I’m sure BeFake sells the pictures to 3rd parties to be used for data collection to some sort

By

Pretty good

I almost feel like the free ones were better than most of my paid ones.

If only they’d fix a few things…it’d be 5

Amazing quality! Easily would have to pay a lot more for similar quality by a human artist..

But then again.. some results produce 5 almost identical results.. a few might look nothing like you, but very rare

And rare also, some are so bad a human artist could not have done worse..

But a really creative tool

Meh

I thought BeFake would be fun but the images it generated included lopsided features, like one eye is way lower than the other or the face is droopy. One of the images is a man even though I specified my gender is female. I uploaded several photos of myself but none of the generated photos really look anything like me. I thought this was the fun app that people keep using to post fun AI photos on Instagram but I think I was mistaken. Waste of $5.

Waste of time

The free pictures were much better than the ones I spent credits on. Most look absolutely nothing like me.

Broken

BEWARE AND AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! THIS IS A SCAM. There are NO PHOTOS GIVEN FOR THE FREE TIER AND PAID TIER GIVES CRAPPY UNUSABLE ONES.

BeFake promised me my results in 2 hours or less. It’s been 3 months and I have received no update except to upgrade to the paid plan — which I know is baloney.

Please fix

It doesn’t work anymore.

Doesn’t work

Updated review: So as of today it’s working, I got the pictures generated from the previous requests and new requests finish quite fast. For this I move my rating from 1 to 3 stars. It would be nice to alter the actual prompts. I don’t know what changed, it could be a version update or it could be something on the backend. Would be nice to be able to swipe through the photos instead of having to click each one.

Previous review: App takes your money and gives you credits. Then, when you spend those credits to generate images those images eventually time out. It prompts me to try again which fails almost instantly. The result? No generated images and no credit refund. Just takes your money and gives you nothing. Very frustrating. Don’t bother with BeFake until major changes have been made by the dev

Buggy application and lacking features

Had a instance where i paid for credits, generated photos and it never showed up but took my credits anyway. Also the AI face looks nothing like me even though i gave it 20 pictures. And heres the kicker, you cant replace your default photo from the first time generation without upgrading to premium. You also can’t delete your photos off the application. GOODBYE PRIVACY. Spent close to 20 dollars on the generate, the weekly premium subscription and additional credits and completely unsatisfied. Also pictures keep saying “generating” unless you close BeFake and reopen it then it will show up. This is a buggy mess and not worth it atm. If they clean up all the bugs, and improve the AI then MAYBE. I wonder how many times they had to feed the AI to get accurate photos of their samples. As it stands BeFake is not worth it, the only thing that works flawlessly is payment.

Hit or miss, mostly miss

Paid twice to retrain the algorithm— it would be best if they gave tips on what kind of pics to add, because in the second one it thought I was a man, and in both it thought I was a different race lol. Out of all the pics I made (a few dozen including the ones that come with a new trained face) only about 3 were genuinely, definitely me. The rest looked like they could maybe be my sister at best.

Still a fun way to experiment with an ai.

One actual piece of feedback for the creator— it generated “explicit” pictures of me multiple time which it doesn’t show you, but it only refunds you 5 points back— but theres no way to use just 5 points, so you might as well not give any money back at all…

Doesn’t work for me.

Just installed this on my iPhone (updated with the latest iOS) and tried uploading my pictures multiple times but kept getting the same error saying that the upload failed. However, after closing out and reopening it a bunch of times it finally “worked.” By “worked” I mean I got to the page following the upload screen which said I was in line and would take about an hour for my model to be ready (or I could refer four friends to BeFake to skip in front of the line). It’s been at least 10 hours and still nothing. Can’t tell if this is just a scam to gather peoples information or if it’s just a bug.

I’m happy to update my rating and review when I see that BeFake works.

Not Bad; Could Use Improvement

The AI is pretty good for what it does. However, some of the selections are a little limited in what they can do.

The Superman and Jon Snow filters are basically just headswaps rather than a truly original AI generated piece of art.

The Male to Female filter works 50% of the time. Since I have a beard it’ll just make my hair longer in some instances, whereas in others it’ll actually do what it says.

A good feature would be the ability to delete some of the generated images we aren’t satisfied with.

Another would be to update the selfies we provided in order to better improve the art we’re getting back. When I first downloaded BeFake I had to find whatever selfies I had at the time.

Now I have some better headshots that would probably produce cooler results, but BeFake won’t allow me to upload any more selfies for the AI to learn from.

Overall not a terrible experience. Could use improvement.

Pretty cool but could use some improvements

This is a pretty cool app to get deep fake photos of yourself and other people. A few suggestions:

1. Ability to delete the generated photos. A lot of these don’t look like me at all and I would want the ability to delete those.

2. Some generated photos are disturbing. There is a photo of me with like 7 fingers and another one that looks like a ghost from a horror movie with a warped mouth. Again, ability to delete those would be awesome.

3. App is buggy a lot of times, where it has trouble loading/fetching the photos for hours.

4. The AI training isn’t the best. My first attempt there was only 1 photo that looks like me and the rest were trash. It may have to do with the selfies I selected but some of them are way off, like showing me as a different race with blond hair and totally different features.

Waste of storage on my phone

BeFake sounds so cool. I would LOVE to say I got to even use it for it’s intended purpose. However after having BeFake for over 24 hours, I uploaded pictures TWICE because it failed, I have never gotten any prompts to generate.

Devs, if your servers are slow, send a push notification. I got one notice within BeFake , but it’s just embarrassing how many times BeFake has disappointed me in such a short time.

If things are slammed for the Thanksgiving holiday, I get it, and I’ll be happy to try again if servers improve in a few days, but for now I am leaving this as 1 star

Results are weirdly close to my actual self

Funny to see some of the images. Some were off by a lot. I think it’s down to the photos I uploaded however. It would be nice to be able to change those and see the results then. Some looked like I had just face tuned my skin texture from a cell phone shot they were so on the nose.

Stay away

Pay for a week @ $4.99 and supposed to receive 600 credits only to receive 400.

On the back end BeFake sends you OTHER USERS photos and not yours. You hit generate and it’s a total crap shoot to see if you will get something that vaguely looks like you, or is just another completely different person.

Again - if you pay for a week they will NOT give you the credits you paid for, they will give you 200 credits less (which would be 6-7 generations). Report this to the Apple Store if you had the same issue.

Fun app

It works. I wanted to get that out of the way. I tried to use it after reading a Reddit post and on Thanksgiving weekend which were a diabolical combination for crashing BeFake developer’s servers. I thought it didn’t work but it was a matter of bad circumstances for BeFake , not BeFake ’s fault. The developer reached out to me and provided a satisfactory explanation. I like it.

Some good results, some hilariously bad

There were definitely a few good results in the photos I got, but man some of them were just atrocious. To be expected with AI of course which is why it’s good that each pack comes with 4 photos. Possibly if there was some better guidance on the photos I submitted my photos would have turned out better, but it’s hard to say.
