Prices are ridiculous

I’m currently enjoying a few K-novels on this app that have webtoons out right now. The stories are excellent so far so I can’t complain much about story quality. However with that being said the cost of chapters is ridiculous. It takes 29 coins to read one chapter. Most series range from 200+ chapters. The promotion periods usually only award only 500 coins which is only about 14 chapters of a book. If you’re paying for coins (which I have done) they run out quickly and you still haven’t finished the book. For example it’s $10 for 1000 coins. Which sounds great if the chapters were to only costs 10 coins, but since it costs 29 coins (weird number choice btw) you can only read 34 chapters out of an approx. 200 chapter book. So lets so I get the first 5 chapters free, if I pay $10 for 34 chapters it would cost around $50 for a 200 chapter book. And all of this is just assuming that its a 200 chapter book. Most K-novels easily go over that since in actual publishing its multiple books of a series (like Harry Potter). While 200 chapters seems like a lot, they are typically short reads. A person who has trouble reading could probably finish a chapter in under 5 minutes. Paying 29 coins for a quick read is absurd and charging that much to purchase coins that barely pay for chapters is a scam. Either fix the cost of chapters and coins, or provide wayyyyyyy more promotional coins.

Not binge friendly

YONDER is ok. No major glitches or crashes that I can see. I do have one major problem with YONDER . I like binge reading. Sitting down and reading dozens of chapters in a single sitting is fun to me. this app doesn’t do that. Instead you can unlock 1 chapter a day (for some fics, others require you to pay after the freebies) I also hate spending money on apps. Spending a dollar to temporarily get 3 chapters of a book does not sound like a good deal to me. I have some ideas for how YONDER can change to help people like me while not hurting authors. 1. Let people stack daily unlocks for a single fiction. This way a person can read multiple chapters in one sitting. OR 2. Unlocks don’t expire in the same way they do now. Instead, after the 3 days are up, you have to watch an ad to read the chapter. This way, you can still binge read an entire work and YONDER has a way to get money from people like me who don’t spend money on apps.

Asking to include the illustrations

So, first of all, YONDER seems amazing and I can’t wait for the future of YONDER .

There is one thing I would like to ask for, however. I’m currently reading Remarried Empress and am happy that it got licensed. But since this was the case, I was hoping that they included the illustrations from the Korean novel like on Naver for the full experience. The illustrations are so beautiful, so I was disappointed to find out it wasn’t included.

I know there are very few novels that have illustrations, but for the few that do, it’d be a shame to not include them.

I know it looks iffy but it’s good!

When I first saw it I was hesitant to get it because of how it is advertised, but I love it. I wish they did better with the covers though, some of the books are written webtoons and have a weird cover when there’s already drawings of the series that could be the cover instead, or a simplistic cover would be better. Anyways, I got ahead of several series I enjoy on webtoon because there’s a written version of it on this app, and I feel like the written version has more depth. I didn’t spend any money but I’m ahead on like 4 webtoon series, I just used a daily pass everyday from the point I was on. Plus they give like 500 coins to spend for free once in a while if you subscribe to another book series. Highly recommend! However this app makers if you’re reading this please let us be able to see our past comments as a list like webtoon! Thanks

Good app

So I found YONDER on a Facebook ad and begin reading the book The True Luna. About a week into downloading YONDER I began to notice that I was getting a notification that I had a free pass to continue reading the next chapter BUT I couldn’t ever get the free pass. So fast forward a week later I opened YONDER again and went to read a chapter and bam I was logged out of my app (I never logged myself out) . So I decided maybe I should just delete YONDER and then redownload it so I did. When I redownloaded it I couldn’t find the book I had began to read.
Be careful when you download it because thinking about it once I downloaded YONDER my phone started acting weird I’m not saying it’s YONDER itself but just a thought.
You’re gonna have to pay to read some chapters because apparently the free passes are only available for certain books. If I can’t find the book again I’m going to delete YONDER for good.

Fun stories but SO overpriced

I really enjoy reading some of my favorite webtoons on here, but the chapters are not very long and only one chapter a day for free for every single book is pretty annoying; it’s like they took the immediate daily pass feature from webtoon that is webtoon’s absolute worst feature and applied it to everything so they can make more money. I have spent money on coins and I realized the numbers are just unreasonable; if you bought all the chapters you would be spending over $40-50 to read one novel, which is pretty insanely expensive for a light read; much cheaper to just buy whole novels on other platforms. I will probably have to delete it after finishing my current reads (trying to pace myself with only the free chapters) unless some big changes are made in pricing because I just can’t afford it and it’s frustrating to only get a tiny chunk of the story at once.

Review 1 (before getting a full feel of the app)

Already I am struggling with a couple itty bitty aspects of YONDER . Love the dark background it already comes in though. Can we have an update where you can click on a book to show full description but you can swipe left or right to go the the next book? And an update where you can swipe to exit from where you’re at to go back to the main screen instead of using the back arrow. Also PETITION FOR US TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE OUR USERNAMES PLEASE! And to follow & message each other. And to find readers with similar taste/book reviews as you. Maybe that’s asking for a lot but it’s food for thought. However, I shall give you my second review at a later date when I’ve figured out all the kinks of YONDER . Love y’all! xx

I don’t like that I can’t unlock multiple chapters at the same time

I would like to chose exactly how many chapters to unlock at once. I sometimes try to buy multiple chapters of a series but I usually have to click through the chapters individually to do it. They did change it recently so that you can buy multiple chapters in one click but it’s only if you buy 50 chapters at once but I usually buy a little less than that.
Also the amount of coins needed to unlock chapters is weird. It’s 29 coins per chapter but all the coin packs come is bundles that are divisible by 5 or 10. So no matter which pack you buy, you always seem to fall short and don’t get to buy all the chapters you want.
If those were fixed I’d like it better

I’m a bit confused

So I was reading a novel called “I Obtained a Mythic Item” under Reaper Scans and the most recent chapter was released a while ago. RS said that they would be dropping novels because this app is doing them but it’s been a while and I still can’t find IOMI in this app, so I was wondering if this app was continuing to pick up novel series from the WEBTOONs or if they’re just dropping translations of them entirely. This is also the case with some other novels. YONDER seems good and has a large selection of novels of all types to read but there are still a lot of things I was anticipating of YONDER that were not delivered upon (as of writing this). It would be a personal 5 star if all of the novels that got axed on other TLs would actually be on here, but they’re simply not.

Fake reviews and Webtoon owned

If anyone knows the nightmare of a scam that webtoon is, this is another extension piggybacking off of the Wattpad platform. All of these reviews are fake and sound like a commercial trying to pitch a product. Guess I now know why Wattpad has gone to absolute 🤬over the years if webtoon is involved. Quizilla 2.0 happening right before our eyes - an imminent crash and burn is about to happen to this whole platform if they keep getting greedy and going the way they’re going. How companies think changing a good thing so much is wise is beyond me. I know plenty of platforms that are beloved because they stay true to their beginnings and don’t jerk their customers around every two months. Considering Wattpad’s lovely new ad bar addition that blinds everyone every time they try to read a book, I’d bet this is all tied together to being in more revenue.

The App You’ve Been Waiting for!

I’ve been looking for an app that translated the Korean Webnovels that I’ve been wanting to read. Previously I had to read on other sites that weren’t official translations. This is amazing and has all of the series I’ve been looking forward to reading and more. The content library is huge and I already see so many of my favorites on YONDER. The user interface is very intuitive and makes it incredibly easy to find content. The tags are well done and makes discovering content even easier. This is YONDER I’ve been waiting for and I’m super excited to use it every day!

Opinion about Yonder v.s Wattpad

I’ve had Wattpad downloaded for years and I’ve always adored the variety of books that were available. But I’ve recently come to discover this app. Although I like that this app retains books that seem more edited and professionally written, there aren’t as many options available to choose from unless you’d like to spend money or wait forever to eventually get through the books. On top of that, you get one or two free chapters per day with a book of your choice. The problem? The chapters are only available for three days. It seems super money-hungry and manipulative for someone to purchase a chapter just to be unable to go back and read it at their leisure.

Like it a lot more than expected

So I’ve read a couple books on here already and I love it! I genuinely can’t find anything wrong with YONDER, except that the free passes expire really fast. Maybe that’s just me, though. As someone that loves both Wattpad and Webtoon, it’s nice to be able to read both on the same app. I’ve been wanting to read one of my favorite comics on Webtoon, Sixth Sense Kiss, as a book and I can finally do that because it’s on this app! I totally recommend YONDER, especially if you want to read paid Wattpad books for less amount of money and time!

Read!!!! YONDER!!!!

I am going to do good news first then bad news
Good is that they have amazing books and you can get so attached to them and you can read more than one book at a time theirs no ads because some reading apps have ads. The bad thing is that they don’t have many ways to get coins faster and when you run out I takes some time to get them back with out paying but I understand that they want you to pay so that’s ok. I really love this app I don’t care about the bad though so if you read this review then go for it and download YONDER . 😘

Almost but not quite

Compared to other reading apps; I love YONDER for the genre of books it has. I found a book I loved on the first click compared to the endless searching and previewing on other apps. BUT what YONDER lacks that other apps HAVE is a real book feel and dictionary. There is no page count or "page flip" transition from one page to another, You can't hold down a word to look the definition up 'in app,'(iPhone) or even to copy/paste it to google at the least. I like the comment feature that's one thing other apps dont have but YONDER would be much better if it had that natural book feeling and a way to look up words.

My new favorite app!!

During the pandemic, this app’s partner app Webtoons was the only thing that got me through it. Despite not reading manga before reading Webtoons I grew to love it: the art form, the stories, and the passion that the artists had for what they were doing. I still love it and now with this app I have a new way to see and read the stories that I enjoy. In fact I almost like this app more? Before manga I was a reader first and foremost and so now it’s like coming back to my roots. 13/10 stars would definitely download both apps in a heartbeat!! Download this, you won’t regret it!!!

Needs an audio option

I really enjoy YONDER, but the only thing that can make better is to enable an audio option. Such as allow apps like speechify to read the novels for you since many of us are unable to continuously read due to work.

Please do not use this product

TLDR: a predatory pricing scheme to make pyramid schemes blush, do not use.

I decided to try YONDER because a web novel I am a fan of was brought into the platform. After a lot of complaints in the fandom I figured I should try it. I’ll note I also am a Webtoon user and this is the same parent company.

Bluntly: this is more predatory than Webtoon and that’s saying something. All in app purchases are in multiples of 100, but chapter unlocks are 29 coins. This means that unless you spend ungodly amounts of money, you’re always going to have leftover coins. Immediately you’ve induced sunk cost fallacy on any user, encouraging them to buy more. A friend ran the calculations and some series are overall more expensive than it would be to get a single paperback copy. Or even hardback.

YONDER is not worth the amount of time it takes to download it. I would love to say “use this and support the author of the series I love” but as is I cannot say that in good faith.

Exciting App for Fiction Fans!

With app-based reading becoming more and more popular, I’m really starting to enjoy having so many exciting options. From comics (WEBTOON) to longer prose (this app) there is a super vast amount of content to check out. Maybe too much (in a good way).

Either way, great way to get back into reading if you’ve found yourself wanting something easy to hop into

An app we all needed since forever

Literally have been reading fanfics and stories online since forever and my 100+ ao3 and RR tabs saved haunt me in my dreams. Glad to have online stories easily accessible on an app so I can ready it whenever and organized neatly just like Webtoons. Will def be reading more thanks to YONDER!

Pricing problems

I don’t think having to pay $50 or more to finish a book is a good value. I’m sad because I really liked the book I was reading, but that’s more expensive than a hardback novel. The book I was reading had 189 chapters at between 29-34 coins each. I’m on chapter 55 (already bought and used 1000 coins), if I continue I’ll have to pay about 4500 more coins, at $10 per 1k coins. That’s crazy…

By

Wish I could keep the coins

When I first downloaded YONDER it was during an event and I earned lots of coins but they all expired. Seeing me to YONDER I did not know that this would happen, I wanted to save the coins for another book in the future. A little disappointed by that but I do love the work that’s on YONDER . And surprisingly, there are quite a bit of WebToons that have novels!

By

I love this app, but …

Honestly, I do love YONDER. The stories are amazing, engaging and there’s an endless selection of things to read. The only problem is it’s super duper expensive. Not only is the amount you’re paying for coins expensive but then the amount of coins per chapter is ridiculous. 29?!?? The lowest I’ve found is 27 but for real this is insane.

Excellent

This is a really well-designed website. The translations are generally excellent for the most part- I think I have only come across one that was iffy. The opportunity to read these great novels is priceless.

PROS: I love the interface, and the customizing ability is also seamless. I also love that we can go back and forth reading the WebNovel and the webtoon from both the this app and Webtoon apps. It’s a wonderful way to read for fans of Korean webtoon/WebNovels.

CONS: I hate how we can only download on chapter at a time. If we can purchase 100 chapters all at once, shouldn’t we be able to download them at the time of purchase for offline reading? The same issue with the Webtoon app as well. Also, we need a +19 version as well. I want to read translated webnovels from other authors, including BL. Please make that happen for us! There is no platform to read all my favorite BL novels like Willful Negligence, or Walk on Water, or Moscareto stories, etc.

That’s my only suggestion so far, but I will update as I go. Thank you for these excellent platforms and the opportunity to read translated novels!

It’s alright

I enjoy a lot of the stories and how some of them are on WEBTOON. this app also has a decent variety of stories that are of better quality than WattPad.
My main issues are:
*Coin purchases are weird. To unlock a chapter ahead of time is 29 coins but when you buy coins it’s not in increments of 29 so you end up with an odd amount of coins and it becomes a cycle.
*There seems to be a lot more stories that are 18+ than not. Authors really need to work on some variety and not use whole chapters for that.

Not even a heads up

A couple a stories I was in the middle of reading suddenly, and without warning, stopped doing Daily Unlock. I'm not in a position to spend frivolously, so even considering buying coins to read hundreds of chapters between a few stories just isn't even an option. Never mind that I'd need to spend literal hundreds of dollars to be able to finish the two stories I'm trying to read. Promo coins gained by subscribing to stories or reading chapters from stories expire too quickly. And the odd number of coins to unlock each chapter just... doesn't make sense to me. If I earn 200 coins during an event, unlocking chapters is 29 coins. That leaves me only able to unlock 6 chapters with 26 leftover coins I can't use that will eventually just disappear. Had there been a notice of some kind that Daily Unlock would not be available for certain stories starting on whatever date, it would've felt less like a rug was pulled out from under me. I was told of a daily wheel that you can spin to get coins, but as of writing this it is not a feature available to me. Overall, I'm very frustrated and disappointed.

Paywalls

I downloaded this app to read the webnovel version of webtoons I’ve been reading. I started hitting paywalls in the middle of a series, and am unable to finish at all with daily passes and am unwilling to pay hundreds of dollars in order to finish. And the paywalls kick in at really strange episode numbers: in “My In-Laws are Obsessed With Me,” it hit at episode 46, “Marry my Husband” hits at 51, and “I’m the Queen in this Life” hits at episode 246. The first two series mentioned are finished, whereas the third is ongoing with daily release. I could understand if they wanted the paywall to kick in 100 episodes before the current one, but it’s really random to end where it is. “Remarried Empress” has 337 chapters and I didn’t hit a paywall at all. There should be better regulation or signage about if there’s a paywall and when it occurs, and then also a time period where it will become free for daily pass users.

Over the money grab

I have used YONDER since they started and loved that a lot of the Weston’s I read I can get way more detail and story line on. I specifically pick stories that are free daily pass since I am will to spend $5 here and there if I get bought up in a chapter but not $100+ to read a book. But they have slowly turned off the free daily unlock pass on all of the 6 stories I had been reading but 1, and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time on that one as well.
It really makes me angry that I put all that time into reading the stories and will never be able to finish them because they changed it all with no notice, I just go on one day and have to spend money.
Steer clear from YONDER , it will get you hooked on a free story and then pull the rug out from under you and tell you that you only have to spend $50 to finish your free stories since you read the first half for free.

Terrible paywall

This is the first and most likely last time I’ll ever write a review. I’ve never written one in the AppStore because I’ve never been this outraged by a company before in my life. You’re telling me to unlock 1 chapter it costs 29 coins which you can buy 1000 for 10$. So you can only unlock around 30 chapters with that and usually that would be pretty reasonable, except for the part that most Korean web novels that are on this site are a 2 minute per chapter read. Before this app was introduced into the game everything was fine, fan translations were doing well, authors books were being published overseas, and they still made money. There’s other companies like WuxiaWorld that have much better translations and paywalls. This company was just solely created to generate revenue without actually caring about their readers nor authors. Terrible app, terrible paywall, atleast try to listen to your reviews.

WAS enjoying

So when I first began to read the stories on YONDER, it was a great experience. Awesome books, anticipating chapter releases and recommendations. I like to scrolling banner that shows new interests and had a weekly pass option for various books, but now everything I enjoyed about YONDER has changed. There is no longer a pass option on Wednesdays. The books I am reading have lost the option for a new free chapter each day. Several of the translated titles are riddled with errors to the point some parts are not able to be understood at all! There also used to be a prize wheel that could be spun every day for free tokens and such which was the first thing that I noticed disappearing.
I understand that there are no ads in YONDER, but if all of the free options are being taken away because of that, I’d much rather see banner ads and ads at the end of chapters than have to deal with not reading the books I enjoy! Please do something to make this a more enjoyable experience like it was before. I don’t have the funds to buy coins, and I’m almost certain that these books are not in regular libraries. They seem to be self published and it is irritating to deal with that fact. Even the main WEBTOON app has options to get free coins so titles can be read for free. What makes this one so different where that isn’t an option?? I’m seriously irritated by all of the hassles and blocks that have recently come into play with this. I want to know why.

Writing Commentary

This is a good app and I like the stories. There are a couple things that bother me though. The first is that you only have three days to read an unlocked chapter if you don’t use coins. It’s easy to lose the flow of the story if the particular one you’re reading has shorter chapters. I’d feel better if they stayed unlocked for a couple more days. It would really help if I could go back a little further to reorient myself to the story. There’s also an issue with leaving comments. I keep getting told my comment has restricted words but I can’t for the life of me figure out which words they are. I’d understand if I was using foul language but it’s just a normal comment like this one I’m writing now. I’ve even tried taking out words one by one to figure out the problem but no dice. I’m starting to think it’s a glitch.
However, I really like reading the stories that correspond to Webtoon. It’s like I’m getting extra behind the scenes content and there’s so much more context! It’s incredibly fun. I love The Remarried Empress and Like Wind on a Dry Branch the most. I highly recommend those.

Bait an Switch

There are several options to reading a book on this app. Because these authors are not published or have an editor that checks their writings before they get put on this site, I’m not willing to pay $.29 a chapter for these books. Some of these books have hundreds of chapters, so I look for the books with the free daily unlock. What really irks me is that halfway through a book they’ll take away the free daily unlock and you’re left to have to purchase the rest of the chapters. The old bait and switch This could end up costing you up to $50 or more to read the end of a book that is not edited, has grammatical errors, and typos throughout. I’m not willing to pay that.
Radish is a much better deal when it comes to these kinds of books. Once your chapter is unlocked, after usually only an hour not a full day, they stay unlocked. this app feels like a soap opera, where you get a snippet of the story each day and most times you forget what you’ve read in the beginning of the story. The library on this app is not near as extensive either.
After getting the Bait and Switch for the fourth time on this app, I’m probably going to pack it in. I’ll wait till the stories are completed and purchase the last 2 to 3 chapters so I can see how it ended and then I’ll delete YONDER . It’s just not worth the frustration or the money!!!
