Disappointing and has unacceptable bugs
2022-05-23
by Uke-ho
Would give 0 stars if possible. There is no way on iPad to control playback speed. There are so many videos to watch developers need to be able to easily increase playback speed if desired. Tried downloading video hoping this would allow access to speed control. Still no controls for speed and worse yet there is a bug where you are not able to delete the downloaded video so it will take up large amount of space on device forever. These are basic things and it is unbelievable Apple developers created AppleDeveloper and that these basic things don’t work. Very disappointed. Please at least provide a way to delete a downloaded video. Running iOS 12.3.1 on iPad Pro. Desktop version seems to have speed control but didn’t really want to watch the videos on Mac. Prefer to watch on iPad.
This App ruined my phone
2022-06-24
by PLAYDONTI
It seems like a good app too bad I couldn’t use it because my phone start acting up when I tried to open AppleDeveloper . It’s been turning on and off, I force restart it and still wasn’t enough had to restart settings and delete AppleDeveloper to work again. Now I’m scared if I download it will happen the same thing.
UPDATE: My phone is still turning on and off. I am extremely mad that a single app destroyed my phone omg. Who is going to be responsible fr this?
Video speed controls lacking!!
2022-07-25
by UcipianBeast
You neither let us import downloaded videos to video player apps nor has implemented percisioned (by 10 percent) video playback controls. I need to watch the videos with 70 to 200 percent faster speed but I can’t through AppleDeveloper and have resort back to watching it on my MacBook (on Chrome which lets me do so by an extension). Why?! Really why can’t you understand such a fundamental feature?!?!
Rename it Developer Crash
2022-08-26
by Dale.eshelman
Update.... I’ll be damned. Two months later and still crash not fixed.
Because that is all it does on iPhone XS Max iOS 12.4. Can’t upgrade phone because Apple famously employed its new feature - eliminate compatibility with older Mac OS devices. On the plus side I bought a refurbished 2019 which is my $3500 bookend because I can’t even migrate data from older Mac to the new bookend iMac because migration assistant, or rather Apple, has decided they need to reset all administrative passwords and promote ALL limited users to ADMINISTRATORS rather than my password server!!!! CONGRATULATIONS APPLE for enticing me to buy into a lockdown worse than CA and NY combined since September 2020. Now it is December 2020 and don’t expect Apple to end lockdown any time soon.
The new 2018 version of this WWDC app is about useless on my iPad. It violates many of Apple’s own human interface rules! First, none of the session titles are visible (they are cut off). Second, they now use that silly (unprofessional looking) horizontal scroll where there is full bleed on the right margin. It makes it harder for the user to feel they have situational awareness of what is on the screen. Third, it is cluttered now with glyphs — we have spent 3000 years advancing from hieroglyphics — they are nice to have in small doses, but not a screen full of dozens of them. We could go on, but the overall user experience is a huge step backward last year’s app. Now, I’ve lost a great library app for all the videos through WWDC 2017. The programming idiosyncrasies of AppleDeveloper programming libraries are shining through in a most unpleasant way. Wow, did not expect this for the flagship app.
A nightmare to enroll
2022-10-28
by Ethaye
Scanned my ID and got a message asking me to contact support team. Did so but only got kicked around a few times and was asked to upload photos of my ID to a site *twice*. Then they told me they to had to escalate this case to the operation team and they could not provide an estimation on when it will be reviewed. After a couple days I asked them to contact this so called operation team for an update and was only told there’s no way to obtain an update unless the operation contact the support back. Now I’m just here sitting and waiting forever, which is a completely unacceptable customer experience
Latest update crashes on launch
2022-11-29
by StevoGTA
Seriously? This is *the* app from *Apple* where you learn how to *make apps* and it crashes on launch?
Even when it does work, it likes to take you back to the initial view when you launch, forgetting you were several screen in and way down the list watching videos. AppleDeveloper does not “delight the users” like all apps are supposed to.
Like others have said, the 2018 version may look sexy but the 2017 version was so much more usable!
Weird accessibility bugs
2022-12-30
by Paintperson
AppleDeveloper is weird. The state of the favorite button isn’t announced normally by VoiceOver. Article headings can’t be focused with explore by touch. The adjustable page indicator doesn’t respond to VoiceOver”s adjust value. Scroll position jumps all over the place when reading articles with VoiceOver. I wish this set a better example of accessibility.
wont send my information when trying to enroll in the developer program

keeps saying connection error every time I scan my drivers license, when my internet is working perfectly fine, i even tried switching to data and the problem is still there
AppleDeveloper in and of itself works well and has the nice intuitive design that you would expect from Apple.
But why in the world would you remove videos? Among others, the main one I’m frustrated with is video 416 (Understanding Swift Performance) from WWDC2016 was removed! Why? This is such an important video that teaches so many things about how values and references work. Yet it is removed? Why not just add a note that the video is no longer recommended instead of flat out removing it?
Speed controls
2023-04-02
by Oldmicah
AppleDeveloper is not bad but the interface is interface is is very cluttered and there is no way to speed up the video. Of the two, I’d forgive the interface issues if I could speed through the video at 1.5 or 2x’s, slowing down for the sections that are new and unfamiliar.
Right now I’m watching the videos in WebPlayer off the developer site and marking them as viewed in the WWDC app, in the hope that someday the dawn will break, the birds will sing, and most significantly of all, AppleDeveloper will allow me to speed up video.
Better and better but still has bugs/missing things
2023-05-04
by Janant98
The new speed control is great. I enable subtitles when watching videos though, and on my iPad if I pause the video, close AppleDeveloper , and reopen it, the subtitles are gone and don’t come back even when turning subtitles off and back on again.
It would also be great if AppleDeveloper could properly restore the application state, since it tends to get jettisoned in the background quite easily.
Crashes constantly on iOS 12.4
2023-06-04
by Segadude
Crashes constantly on iOS 12.4. It crashed and kept crashing upon starting. I had to reinstall AppleDeveloper to get it working again and it crashes all the time while using it. I don’t have the option to upgrade to iOS 13.
Maybe reverse how Schedule was done
2023-07-06
by Kgaidis
I liked the last year Schedule better. This one is a bit weird / confusing to use. Other felt more natural. I want to keep switching between Sessions and Starred Sessions but then I have to scroll back and forth
Apple seems to have fixed the brief issue with content not loading. This is a pretty good app and it serves as an easy way to view WWDC videos on the go.
Great information for developers

Amazing app. Only one thing missing for me: can you please add an option to remove an item form 'continue watching' list?
Great app

I use it mostly to watch the Apple Events from every year and mostly about other information too! 🙂
Lost favorites with update
2023-11-09
by IIRick
Seems that they removed all WWDC videos from 2015. Cannot search to find any of them. And more importantly, lost my previously favorited 2015 session videos. Why would an app ever delete user data?
Update: while some of the 2015 videos are now back, some are still missing. For example, Protocol Oriented Design. What gives?
Update: 2015 videos have returned as so did all my favorites in the last update.
Better Every Year
2023-12-11
by Greenisus
The WWDC app gets better every year. It’s awesome that I can start a video on my iPhone, and finish it later on my iPad or Apple TV. It’s also nice that I can mark a session as watched if I happen to have attended it in person.
One thing I wish would change, though, is the Favorites view. WWDC19 just ended, and I favorited all the sessions I want to watch, but when I go to Favorites, I have to scroll past all my favorites from 2016, 2017, and 2018. I don’t want to lose those favorites, but it would be nice to be able to see only my 2019 favorites.
This iPhone has iOS 12 and had it downloaded before this and still works fine (thanks apple!!!!)
Upset

by Little Dream World
I usually very love everything from Apple, but now I will change my mind, because I am so upset every time everything after the new IOS update, there a lot of the apps and information are gone, also not working properly as same as before, the Apple development is making changes a lot, will not recommend people to buy apple products anymore
Missing Video Filters
2024-12-17
by Vortec4800
Still missing in 2019. Previously it was possible to view videos with a filter, so you could see favorited videos that haven’t been watched from a specific year, for example. This made it very easy to see what videos you still have to watch, but now it’s either not possible or I can’t find it in the UI, which I suppose is just as bad. The rest of AppleDeveloper seems good so I think it was just missed.
Update loses video
2024-12-17
by Lpr2012
The update looks fine, but again orphans all the downloaded video. It’s still taking up a ton of space, but almost none of them show as downloaded or available to play in the UI. It requires deleting and re-installing AppleDeveloper , and then re-downloading all the video again. Just really sloppy.
Session Times
2024-12-17
by Ieee
Anyone who is going to be there & not currently in California time zone would appreciate appreciate option to see the session times in California time instead of having to translate them in their head.
For those outside of your time zone it is very annoying!!!
WOW! Apple’s own app doesn’t support iOS 13 Dark Mode!
2024-12-17
by ALQ-131
That’s surprising! Apple finally gives us Dark Mode and their own apps don’t even support it. Somebody isn’t giving AppleDeveloper the attention it needs.
Video Speed Controls Please
2024-12-17
by Tez12335
I would like to be able to watch session videos at greater than 1x speed. Unfortunately the WWDC app doesn’t support that.
Would like to see an option to speed up videos
2024-12-17
by ILikeTau
There’s a lot of videos to watch. I’d like to see the option to speed them up so I don’t have to sit through all of them.
Bug report
2024-12-17
by R. Lyu
While watching the video and then go back home screen, and there is a floating window and then go back to WWDC app main screen, then tap the floating window back to the full screen and then AppleDeveloper will go black.
Easy to use (mostly)
2024-12-17
by Jerdoh
Overall AppleDeveloper is fairly easy to use and helpful for allowing us to access the WWDC content. In response to an earlier review about not being able to delete downloaded videos, this is one area that could use some interface/usage help. Instead of the regular swipe left for a delete option (swiping left just lets you favorite a video or remove the favorite status), you have to visit the video and hold down on the “Downloaded” link to receive a delete option. This mechanic is slightly less intuitive than expected.
