For the amount of money I am forced to pay every year to the German government, I don’t see any value in this piece of crap, outdated app.
AirPlay is a pipe dream; works on some of my devices, not on others. And often drops the signal unless I leave the screen on.
The design is absolutely outdated, looks like an app from 2009, and acts like it too. Shame on Das Erste.
More often than not, videos do not work. This is disappointing. It cannot be so hard to make viewing a video work. Other tv channels manage this quite well.
It just updated DasErste and it crashes all the time. It used to work fine before the update. Sad

Wollte mich mit WM 2014 Informationen aufs Laufende bringen. Die App crasht wiederholt, auch nach Neuinstallation.
Hat früher funktioniert. Funktioniert jetzt gar nicht mehr. Null Sterne.
No problems watching videos, and I like the options for subtitles and audio description. However, DasErste doesn’t allow for easy browsing. The top promoted series takes over and all episodes are presented on the starting page. A mix of the latest videos from different genres would be great (compare to ZDF App, which I think has a better design and overview/browsing features.)
Auf dem neuen Version, unter Videos, gibt es jetzt an jede Kategorie keine Programme Namen, sondern eine einzige Liste von Sendungen. Manchmal will ich herausfinden, welche Programme unter eine bestimmte Kategorie gibt es. Nicht so einfach jetzt. Oct 2, 2016: Still, with 3.0.1 you didn't get that under Videos, Kategorien, it makes sense to split programs by name for easier browsing, as opposed to having a single blanket list.

Auslandsdeutsche understand the value of the ZDF Mediathek app. Finally, Das Erste released theirs. ZDF and Das Erste are the two public broadcasting channels in Germany and the largest producer of original German content. Watched the epic soap Lindenstrasse today with the family. The picture quality is noticeable better than on the old WDR podcasts. With Airplay, it is like watching TV back in Germany. It helps my kids to learn the language and myself to maintain it. And the best, it is free!
