Speakaboos - Kids Reading App Reviews

My kids have been using Speakaboos for a couple of years now. I love it and am now using it in my kindergarten class as well. My one and only complaint is about 1-2 times per week Speakaboos logs out and they lose their downloaded stories. They use their iPads in the car and this app is one of the main apps they turn to. When they lose their stories that means I need to spend the following evening sitting with both of their iPads going through all their favorite stories so they can have it the following day. It’s tedious. A) the problem of the random logging out needs to be fixed or B) it would be nice if parents had the option of going through a checklist of which stories (or all) to download instead of having to listen/watch each one or C) upon logging in, it should automatically download the stories they’ve watched or have selected as favorites

First, I had to keep logging in every time. So even if Speakaboos was good, it would be frustrating that the kid cannot use it without parental help every time it gets closed out. Second, there is nothing worth $8/month on Speakaboos. Third, they make it impossible to cancel so I’ve been charged $8 for an app with less to offer than many free apps I have that are actually educational. It seems like a scam not to be able to cancel within Speakaboos so they hope people can’t figure out how to cancel before they get charged at least once. There are instructions about canceling within Speakaboos Store (never heard of doing that before) and those instructions don’t match up with anything actually in Speakaboos Store. I’ve emailed to have it canceled and am still waiting for a response.

It's got great stories, artwork is always good and the voices are usually fairly famous ones that step in to make a story. I really do like this as an educational tool, so I remain happy I bought it over ahead ago. Big problem for me is not being able to use this on any other device but the iPad I bought it on, so I have to pull mine out every time we use this thing.

My kids loved it the first year we got it. I tried to delete app, because they no longer used it and it is $8/month. Even though I deleted app they still charged me! The kids decided they wanted to use it again so I tried to log on and it said my ‘trial period had ended.’ There is no phone number and no customer service agent because they are a ‘small company.’ I emailed to cancel and I am waiting for a response. It has been an additional year that I have paid $8/month and I can’t even use it. Rip off

I really love Speakaboos and, my 3 year old daughter loves it! The stories are amazing and, interactive. The only problem there is with Speakaboos, I that after I download some stories & when I'm not connected to the internet, they get deleted on their own??:( I'm not always at the house & she likes to listen to stories wherever. There is no wi-fi everywhere we go, I download her favorite stories & as soon as we are out of wi-fi range, they get deleted. Does anyone else have this issue? It's frustrating because my daughter really likes Speakaboos & it keeps her entertained. She gets upset when we go somewhere where there is no wi-fi & all the stories I downloaded gets deleted.:(
Please fix this problem ASAP.

We love Speakaboos and my kids both remain interested in it after using it for two years. I would give it 5 stars if it weren’t for the login issues. Every single time we shut the iPad, Speakaboos logs us out and we lose all of the downloaded stories. It is negatively impacting our user experience!

I signed up for the year subscription with a free month trial. I canceled after a week and I was still charged for a year and it says I can still have access for a year. What happened to the free trial? It’s not a free trial if they charge you for a year and won’t end it during the free trial.

My daughter loves Speakaboos, but it crashes after two or three songs. I have to constantly close Speakaboos then re-open it. I would really appreciate this issue being addressed by the creators.

I haven’t made an extended of Speakaboos for 2019 because my child mo longer use Speakaboos.
I require stop to automatic extend purchasing and refund payment of this year.

Can’t even get anything new, same old thing over and over , years after years

I never subscribe yet I am charged $8 every month I deleted the application months ago and it’s not listed in my iCloud apps to unsubscribe from this is bull

My son loves Speakaboos, but we have to login every time we use it. We have Speakaboos on our phone and iPad. I paid for the entire year and I'm regretting it somewhat for that reason. I went as far as emailing and calling their customer service about a month ago and never got a response which is disappointing. I was hoping an update would fix this. We have ABC Mouse and we never have this problem having to login every time we use it. I would recommend ABC Mouse over this app; it's more educational, more personalized and it has just as many stories.

I stumbled across this app looking for an App to share with my grand kids (3 and 5). It didn't take long before I found this app and promptly ended my search. Wow wow wow. All the classic stories (and some new!) but framed with great animation and music. Plus, all the customizable features make it so that my 3 year old and 5 year old can read the same story and have a unique, personalized experience. This is the perfect app for teaching a child to fall in love with reading in this new, tablet-centric world. All the best features of a classic children's story blended with all the benefits (entertainment, data tracking) of the new world order of education technology! I approve.

I am a book lover and always imagined my kids would be too. When my son was born I couldn't wait to share the experience of reading with him. Thing is my husband and his family are obsessed with electronics and where you would find my shelves full of books, theirs are full of tech gadgets. After two years of trying to compromise and/or not force the topic I finally found a workable compromise! It's not exactly as I imagined it but my son still sits in my lap as we read, sing and play together using this app. And without realizing it, this app is also encouraging my 30 year old husband to read more. :) LOVE IT!!!

What a wonderful app. I've already subscribed and it's getting lots of use in our household. It's not really an app, more a world of stories and books. Such attention to detail on each story, from the art to the sound and animation. The kids got hooked immediately.

And this app has clearly done a lot of work to create a thought through product for early readers. Very impressive. This isn't just a toy to distract, it's a real learning environment.

Well done! We're looking forward to lots more reading with this app. It's such a relief to have one place I feel safe going knowing there's lots of great books.
