Hello please read

I just got UrbanDictionary today and I love it. But can you add the ability to make your own definition for something? Without having to pay a fee or pay anything and having to make and account.
It should work like this, you press a button and the button would say make a definition or def for short. Then you type in a box that says what it is. Then you write the definition here is an example:
[name:Brody]
[ definition: a great guy] then you would click send. So how would you guys benefit you may ask? Well after each time someone makes a definition they will have to watch an ad then when it’s over you wait for a little bit. So it’s a win win. The people who downloaded UrbanDictionary are happy and impressed. And you people put ads. I hope you read and respond to this and have a great day thank you so much I love your app!!!

Love it but please add DARK mode

I absolutely love UrbanDictionary. It is my go two when I’m texting someone and they use a term or abbreviation that I don’t know or I think is some kind of text slang. OR when I’m talking to someone in person, if i’m feeling bold enough I’ll pull UrbanDictionary out right in front of them. Instead of asking the person, I pull out UD! That goes to show how useful UrbanDictionary is!!

However, all that aside, it’s 2021, can we please have a dark mode that matches the system. At night, I find myself using all dark apps, and the moment I need UD, I’m blinded by the white screen. Please add Dark mode!!

Thank ya :)

UD ftw!

Urban Dictionary is the only dictionary that explains things properly. Because they are written (often) by the people that come up with them, you get to understand the real meaning. The fact that you get “real life” or humorous descriptions of the words, you remember them longer. Kind of like School House Rock.

Urban Dictionary

Urban Dictionary is a cool reference application that allows users to look up slang and non slang terms they are unfamiliar with and serve as a guide for those curious about the meanings of urban terminology. UrbanDictionary does a good job in providing full on definitions instead of just incomplete interpretations. Along with the definition is an example or two of how it is used in a sentence. UrbanDictionary is easy to use with a search field up top of the menu where one can enter words they want the definition for. Users have the option to share terms and their definitions with others. Users can also vote for words they like.

Same wonderful website. Just missing a feature...

I’ve been using UD since I was. Freshman in high school and it’s been consistent in its output and quality through the decade. UrbanDictionary is great for me when I’m away from my laptop (mostly when I don’t want to get off the couch to get my laptop) and want to double check some phrases that caught my attention. The one thing lacking is the ability to submit your own definitions. Maybe I’m not seeing the option/menu but I wish that could be included. Otherwise, just like the website and just as entertaining!

Useful, But Politics Ruined It

It's a good app, and I enjoy using it whenever some random slang or phrase comes up and I want to know the meaning behind it, however; UrbanDictionary is annoyingly politically and religiously biased with the words it features on the front page of UrbanDictionary . Much of the words featured are just Leftist agenda getting pushed down your throat, instead of actually funny words, and it's absolutely asinine. Most recently it's started taking jabs at religion as well, which is something nobody wants to hear about when you're on an app where you expect to have a good laugh. It's really no surprise why most of the featured words have more dislikes than likes.

Too much politics

Urban dictionary is very fun and useful in some measures but they have went out of their way the past while to make the word of the day an anti conservative phrase someone has made up very often and earlier this year it seems to be daily. I am libertarian but it’s annoying to see it be an anti trump anti conservative thing every day. Even an app meant for fun has become political and has become yet another left wing biased media outlet. Stay with the fun words. Maybe throw in an anti trump thing on the word of the day just once a month if it’s popular. Not every third day.

Urban dictionary

I just got UrbanDictionary today I think it’s pretty cool and fun but as I read other reviews I’m starting to doubt UrbanDictionary but so far I’m doing well. I think UrbanDictionary helps you understand the word better because in normal dictionaries they give you long words you just don’t understand but thanks to the urban dictionary I can actually understand the actually teenage version of the word. The reason I’m giving UrbanDictionary a one star is because I just got UrbanDictionary today and I haven’t explored it much so I still don’t know if their are a few down sides to UrbanDictionary . But so far UrbanDictionary is really well and some definitions are really funny I really recommend it.❤️

Thought it would be better…

Honestly, I thought UrbanDictionary would be better than it is.

I’m not finding any place to sign in or out. I’m not finding any way to report hateful definitions. And the version history clearly shows that UrbanDictionary hasn’t been updated for at least a year.

If the developers work on making UrbanDictionary better, and more accessible, I would definitely be willing to update my review, because I do use urban dictionary semi-often.

Dang this app is inappropriate!

All I wanted was a nice dictionary app but the second I opened UrbanDictionary for the first time on the home page there was a message cursing Donald Trup out! Now I’m not a trump fan but when you want to look out the word “Nonplused” you don’t need a age 15 and up political rant! And then when I typed the the letter P guess what the first thing popped up! 🙄 well hope you don’t make the same dumb mistake of GETTING THIS DUMB “DICTIONARY” APP!!! And I apologize for all the yelling but that was very annoying! Good thing my 7 year old brother didn’t want to look up a word 😑🙄

Not working since 14.0

Great app, and nobody cares about the snowflake Republican spammers with their 1-star votes and who always find some reason to feel offended and persecuted (NOBODY needs to find a “safe space” more than the perpetually wounded conservative feelings in their App Store reviews—how ironic). But ever since iOS 14.0, UrbanDictionary has stopped working. It’s a splash screen that never loads. Please fix and I’ll revise my rating back to 5 stars.

A sad day in the world of Urban Speak

Urban Dictionary use to be fantastic, entertaining, and also useful. However, now it has been overflowed with useless phrases that nobody even knows or uses because literally anybody can put their own slang term in there. It’s all stupid now. All of the good and funny phrases are buried beneath the garbage, and the heap of useless nothingness from the deep stupidity of the minds of individuals, thinking their dumb phrase is important. It’s a system that must be changed, for the betterment of the world, and this great nation.

God Bless

😍😍😍

It's sooo good!! Whenever I'm on tinder and a fine female requests a certain type of man - I can always count on Urban Dictionary to help me know exactly how much I can't satisfy her request (frat daddy). ❤️😍 But I just keep on reading and realize I don't need a girlfriend when I've got you Urban Dictionary / Aaron Peckham. Also it's made with Expo so that's pretty dope 🔥

Was Great-But Now Crashes Often

I’ve had this for years now and have loved it! BUT-it now seems to be crashing quite often. (iPhone 7 Plus) Would love to give it 5 Stars until this problem started occurring. Hopefully, this problem will be addressed in the very near future. When it is I’ll either update this review, or write another and give UrbanDictionary 5 stars.
Many thanks!!

Screen format issue

Love UrbanDictionary !
Using iphone12 mini the search bars at the too become an issue to press since they extend past the notch, kinda annoying. Takes multiple taps to hit back or activate search field

👍🏼2 thumbs tf up👍🏼

It’s really accurate. Any word that u hear somebody say, and u have no clue wut it means, u can just type it and it’ll find the perfect meaning for it. It’s not like any dictionary app u find, because it not only defines large words, but it defines slang as well. I recommend it!🤞🏼🤞🏼❤️❤️

Used to be amusing

I used to find UrbanDictionary amusing, even quite useful at times but as of lately not so much. Ever since I started receiving the word of the day notification it’s constantly some liberal anti-Trump definition or example. I’m certainly not offended but I just don’t find it amusing any longer especially during a world wide crisis like we’re ALL going through right now. Not to mention I’m certain that during certain past administrations UrbanDictionary wouldn’t be used in this manner. Deleted UrbanDictionary .

Used to be helpful

I used to find this site and app to be helpful. There's new slang developing daily and I'm getting older. I just permanently deleted UrbanDictionary . The majority of new words/terms added to Urban Dictionary are propaganda or misinformation. It's sad to think that so many people have nothing better to do than spread hate. Apparently it's not limited to social media and is spilling over into a dictionary for slang. Find better use of your time people!

Memes

I am not of the computer generation. I can’t keep up with the latest email txt words. This is a wonderful insight into what you (of gen X and above) think and understand. Love this. Interesting to read about the many definitions of what meme means.

Does not work anymore

What’s what with UrbanDictionary.I upgraded my iPhone to the new operating system, and this won’t work anymore. I deleted UrbanDictionary and reloaded it again. It still doesn’t work. It says it won’t connect to the Internet flashing on the screen, and UrbanDictionary and never opens up.

Easy to use, pretty bug-free, Apple Watch app?

UrbanDictionary is easy to use, handy at times, and pretty bug-free. Trust me, it comes in handy for certain situations!
Now, I’d like to see some basic Apple Watch functionality. I wouldn’t expect the full experience right off the bat, but, some basic browsing/reading from the watch would be nice. I don’t expect this review to gain enough traction to change anything, but hey, maybe I’m wrong, and this will see attention from the dev team.

Every time I click on UrbanDictionary to use, it just automatically blacks out and turns off. Please fix this so that i can use it again.

Dear urban dictionary

I recently came across an entry on autism that said we know nothing about it. Well I sir or Mam do have autism and can tell you we know a whole lot about autism. Also there is no report button. Some entries also are very racially, socially, and mentally insensitive. You are the lowest ranking app in terms of definitions. I won’t be using your app unless you improve your app and make some serious changes.
