CME quizzes

I like that I can read on the go, but I downloaded AmericanFamilyPhysician so I can take the quiz as I go. AmericanFamilyPhysician would be much more widely used if the CME quizzes were available in AmericanFamilyPhysician rather than through the link to the aafp website.

Great content, but could be smoother interface.

Been reading AFP on paper for years but just discovered on line app. Same wonderful journal and have read several months of journals plus taken quizzes on my phone- handy but if I tap or try to enlarge or reduce a table it will often jump back to beginning or completely out. However AAFP Is a great organization and I am confident app will be even better over time

Inconsistent downloads

Despite being on reliable WiFi, the individual issues will not download consistently to allow offline reading. The download percentage will just disappear anywhere from 50-90% completion and one can never tell if the download has finished. Despite an issue appearing to be fully downloaded stating “Read” instead of “Download”, often times I am unable to open it when I am offline. Sure enough, when I reconnect to the internet and try to open the issue, it will start downloading again.

Persistently unreliable

It’s great when it’s working - which is rare. Even when an issue is supposedly downloaded, the next time I open AmericanFamilyPhysician to continue reading, I have to download it again. When trying to access a particular article once downloaded (supposedly), it won’t load right the first time at least half of the time. Downloaded issues should stay downloaded, it they don’t, and navigation is super glitchy.

Great articles, would like to submit CME quiz

AFP is a great journal. Nice to be able to read articles on the go. However the main benefit I see of AmericanFamilyPhysician would be to submit CME quizzes. Why is this functionality not in AmericanFamilyPhysician ?????

A decent first effort, but behind the times...

It may be my lack of imagination, but it is difficult to see wha sort of use case AmericanFamilyPhysician envisions fulfilling. While it allows a sort of idle perusal of the contents of the magazine, a medical journal is typically engaged in more interactively that idle flipping. It is nice to be able to open up a plaintext view of the article devoid fo the formatting, but being unable to export that article to PDF or import it into apps where one can highlight, underline and otherwise annotate severely limits its functionality. To add to that, AmericanFamilyPhysician is achingly slow.

Crashing

Agree with several reviewers. Constantly have problem with app sayin “ no internet connection” of freezing or unable to download edition. Have purged and restarted several times. Impressive what a low priority this seems to be in an otherwise good organization

Awful app, great articles

The journal articles itself are amazing but AmericanFamilyPhysician is awful. Very difficult to get it to download articles to read offline, says it is downloading and stops or supposedly downloads and then when one is offline, spins endlessly and does not open.

Subscription not being recognized

Despite having an active subscription, when I enter my valid email, AmericanFamilyPhysician is not recognizing my subscription, as a result I am not able to use AmericanFamilyPhysician . I hope AAFP can hire quality programmers to overhaul the entire app.

Failed download

Articles appear as downloaded however, articles are not available

Awful

I haven’t experienced the other problems people are reporting because I can’t even log in!

Unable to login

I have an active membership but AmericanFamilyPhysician won’t recognize my login information. Poor performing app

Cannot download

AmericanFamilyPhysician used to be great. Now it doesn’t download to be read offline. PLEASE FIX

Pathetic

Does not load any journals, crashes all the time!

Finally!

I have been waiting for an app since I started residency! I love the AFP that I get and keep most articles I find useful on my iPad. Now I can truly keep all my medical references in a digital format.

Regarding the application itself: it's smooth, clean, downloads fast and is easy to navigate. The links on each page get highlighted briefly when you turn the page, making it easy to locate a website for example. Thoughtful and helpful.

I hope the stability continues with each issue. I've only gotten the 01Feb and mid Jan issue thus far. We will see how it handles the next one.
