What we desperately need is a Parlerific

I’ve used this app since it first appeared on Twitterrific Store many years ago. this app has improved dramatically since then. Among the improvements I appreciate the most are the additions to the cosmetic settings which provide the user with several customizable layouts.

I use this app primarily on my iPad Mini in landscape mode (ie - widescreen) rather than portrait mode, and I love that the this app feed conforms itself to widescreen such that it uses all the space from left to right instead of displaying the tweets in phone/tablet mode (ie - a skinny column down the center with large black blank columns on the left and right). I am a reader. I have this app set to display any pics or vids attached to a tweet as a tiny thumbnail off to the right (rather than below the tweet) which I can tap on to instantly expand and contract if I choose to. I find that to be much more pleasing to the eye and a much faster way to scan through my timeline and read quickly. And I really love that Twitterific gives me the ability to change not only the font size but the font type itself.

Now, to the folks who developed Twitterific, please, please produce a version for Parler. Bring all the wonderful things you have built into Twitterific and put them all in a Parlerific app. Please do it.

I couldn't even begin to like this app...

So I literally just downloaded Twitterrific minutes ago. It was feat. in a write up in Twitterrific store. It looked to have nice features, separate from the actual Twitter app, like the ability to edit your tweets, so I said heck why not. I open Twitterrific , login & BOOM! There's a huge ad bar at the top of the screen. So big, it completely covers half if not all of a tweet, depending on length. I can't even appreciate looking at the layout or design, colors or anything else because the ad bar is so distracting. Ugh. I have several apps with ad promo bars but guess what? They're tiny and all at the BOTTOM. I'm so mind boggled, I can't remember if the OG Twitter app has an ad bar. If so, it's barely noticeable. I'm guessing you'd have to pay to remove the ad bar and I don't mind donating to small-time app developers but I don't know about Twitterrific. I also read a couple of reviews and people mentioned how they try to get you to pay to access certain features or abilities. Some paid twice due to tier mix-ups. Is there not a "refresh purchases" button? Sounds like this developer is just plain greedy. Also one thing I immediately noticed is the timeline feed is slow to refresh. If it refreshes at all. I'm still seeing tweets from two days ago...when it should be from a few seconds ago. Smh.

Used to be good, alas

I had used this app for a few years and found it good enough. I even purchased removal of ads back when that was ~$5. Single purchase, mind you.
However, when Twitterrific switched to the subscription model, it started serving me pop ups demanding I subscribe. "You've helped out before, now help us again!" I decline, and before long (a day or two?) the pop up is back. If I recall right they're timed-- you have to wait a few seconds before you're allowed to say no. This is unacceptable. Yes, it's annoying and gets your attention and provokes a response-- mine was to delete Twitterrific and use a different one.

I get that software development isn't cheap. But customers are also not endless wells of money that need harassed until they fork it over either. Now, for all I know this was a special case-- I'd managed to restore purchases so I wasn't seeing any ads, so the pop ups may have been something not many people get. Still, the recurring pop ups are a shady move. I probably would have considered keeping Twitterrific and eventually subscribing were it not for those pop ups! Frankly, I'll avoid anything published by Icon Factory because of it. Those constant pop ups are just no way to treat customers.

Great App, Some Improvements Regarding UI

Twitterrific is excellent for anyone who wants a customizable, in-depth twitter experience. And I recommend paying for the full version and putting a tip in the Tip Jar, to help make Twitterrific even better. The ability to change the cosmetics and tabs bar really make Twitterrific something special. Along with a search bar on the timeline to narrow your feed down to specific words. Twitterrific isn’t perfect though, as the video player doesn’t have a scrubbing bar and is very clunky to use when you pause or want to view the caption of the video. Also the interchangeable tab bar is lacking in options like people who like your tweets or a button for search, which is found in the left menu but needs a spot on the tab bar. The themes of Twitterrific could also have a bit more variety, and I know this isn’t as important as a smooth UI but maybe a few colored themes or even patterns could liven up Twitterrific and make for an even more customizable and fun experience.

Makes Twitter Useable

With all the things that Twitter has done to make itself a hostile environment for 3rd-party apps, it is a monumental feat to make something that is *still* worth using — much less giving money to — rather than just giving up and using the official app.

Sure, there are some small annoyances (all the fault of Twitter, not this app…) but even still this provides the best experience reading my timeline.

First of all, *actual chronological timeline*! Sure twitter added it as a feature lately, but it turns itself off after a while. Ridiculous!

Also no “promoted” tweets, no BS random fake friend likes getting stuffed in your timeline, no trending news junk…

Timeline sync! I can read on my iPad and my phone and it remembers where I left off. I’m one of those crazy people that reads everything in his timeline, this makes it easy.

There are a billion little things that make the interface nice to work with, many of which are “power user” features you have to spend a little time learning, but wow is it worth it. I would kill to have all of iOS have their “swipe to move the cursor” feature. It makes editing tweets much simpler.

In all, if you’re trying this because you’re fed up with Twitter messing with their API, give it a chance, give it some time. It absolutely takes a bit to learn all the neat little things this app can do that add up to making it great, but it’s worth it.

Great App; 1 Oversight

I really enjoy Twitterrific over Twitter’s app. However, this is one major issue—the lack of support for alerts. In Twitters app, tweets from people you have established alerts are collected in one place, which brings to attention those tweets. With this app, no such area or special handling exists. Therefore, you have to hunt for tweets from source(s) you would otherwise be alerted to.

I’d love to see the addition of a tab that collects tweets from alerted sources. IMHO, which that addition, Twitterrific would be amazing.

P.S. Moments after writing this review, Twitter launched a new feature, Fleets. I hope support of Fleets will be addressed soon. I dislike having to switch between this and the Twitter app and would love to make this my sole app for Twitter—especially since I went with the lifetime purchase.

Suddenly...ads!

I’ve been using and telling everyone I know to use this app since April 2014. Even when twitter broke many of the features for third party apps I still was sold because of the unified, chronological timeline with no promoted tweets and an awesome dark mode.

After a week of hyping their new release and showing off screenshots on twitter, the update to 6.0 came out today and I quickly installed it to be greeted with a banner ad inconveniently placed right below the compose a tweet button. The garishly bright colors make dark mode pointless. Oh, and then I was prompted to “finally” get rid of the ads for the low, low price of thirty dollars.

Thirty dollars! That’s just silly. Oh, I can do it on “subscription”, and in either two or three years I’ll have paid more than the lifetime cost.

I wouldn’t be nearly as upset with the update of Icon Factory had either shown screenshots with the ad bar or mentioned before hand that updating would potentially remove any previous no ad features for their longest time customers. Instead they hyped the features and there’s no going back because although they call it an “all new product”, the older one is not available. Clicking on this app 5 in my purchases takes me to the new one.

Boo! I’ll leave three stars because the features are great (edit tweets? Only here), but the new forced update putting ads in for some of their oldest users is a pretty ugly move.

Overly complicated for use on Apple Watch

Before I can use it, I have to “enable push”. On what? The phone? The watch? It doesn’t say. The fact that I had to Google how to make this stupid app work shows that it’s poor design. Good design is intuitive, and this is not.

Also what I found out after Googling it is even more horrific, this company put “push” behind a paywall. Instead of doing normal iOS things like every other app, they are doing their own thing to squeeze every last dime out if you. They don’t have to require their own “push” service, but they do so they can control every aspect of Twitterrific .

EDIT: In response to what the developer said, that’s simply not true. You’re lying to people in order to charge them for something they don’t need. If you can display content on the iPhone app without you "push" then you can do the same on the Apple Watch app. Also you don’t need to run your own database, since you’re just piggybacking off the Twitter database. The ONLY reason you’d "require" these things is to force people to pay a premium to have this app on their watches.

Edit Your Posted Tweets; No Twitter Ads

I’ve been trying several Twitter apps, and this is the one I’ve chosen. First off it’s ad sponsored free, so you can use all the features and then decide to subscribe. I also like how I can select four different tabs for the content I like to view, such as my favorited tweets, one or more of my Twitter lists, and my replies. These tabs make it much easier to access content I want see.

Twitterriffic also allows for quickly editing a posted tweets. It deletes the tweets, but retains the original text so that you can edit. Twitterrific also color codes your tweet so you can quickly see your tweets and retweets.

The hidden sidebar also allows for quickly accessing saved searches, your Twitter lists, and other parts of your account. Most importantly there are no Twitter ads in Twitterrific. The official Twitter app is showing like one ad every 2-5 tweets. It’s very annoying.

What want in Twitterrific: please show the number replies for a tweet. The video playback is sometimes slow. Create a gesture to quickly favorite a tweet, like double-tap it. It shouldn’t take two taps to favorite a tweet.

The developers should predict how-to videos for Twitterrific . I only see one.

Thanks for Twitterrific. I will be subscribing.

Worth every penny

Love Twitterrific . Better than twitter in so many ways. I use this app every day and would be lost without it. Can’t help but laugh at all the complaints, 5.0 was $3 and out for 7 years!! How can anyone complain that they were forced to pay again, that this isn’t forever or any silly complaint they can come up with?! This is a great app with regular updates, you think these people can work for pennies from 7 years ago?

As I said I use this app every day. No I can’t afford to subscribe to every app either, but being that I do enjoy Twitterrific so much I will gladly give them a measly $10 a year. And if I really can’t afford the $10 then the banner ad is not annoying to me at all. At least it’s not annoying pop up or scrolling ad. I can ignore a banner as easily.

Fantastic app

Probably the best 3rd part twitter app available (compared to others that are free/cost money). I follow a lot of accounts and Twitterrific always shows me the number of tweets I have to read (a lot) every time I open it. I really enjoy the muffle feature because I can muffle all the things I don’t want to read and focus on the stuff that actually matters to me. And even if I choose new words to muffle, Twitterrific automatically filters them out and I can keep scrolling through my feed without interruptions. I also like the streaming feature on WiFi, but that’s been around for awhile. Haven’t had any problems with Twitterrific at all and they’ve always replied promptly to inquiries (like when they were going to update to 280 characters). Keep up the good work! 🦖🦖🐙

Great App, Missing One Thing, Though

this app is an excellent app. As someone who hates the official Twitter iOS client and it’s privacy practices, I’m grateful for this app.
However, it’s missing features that the official Twitter client has such as changing who can reply to your tweets and also the ability to add polls to your tweets and also view them as well as the ability to view who has liked your posts and other notifications aside from mentions, therefore I have docked it a star.
Also, it would be nice to have the option mute a user while still having mentions from them show up in your notifs like the desktop Twitter client.
If the missing features end up getting added to Twitterrific , then I will gladly bump the review up to 5 stars.

Love the app but it’s gotten slow

I’ve been using Twitterrific for years, and over this summer it’s gotten very slow to load. Becomes nearly impossible to view threads or see replies to people’s tweets or manage list memberships (oh, or favoriting and retweeting). Takes a lot of the fun out of browsing Twitter. I also miss being able to bring up the translate option with a long press anywhere on the tweet. Now I have to target just one particular place on the screen. One of the reasons I have used Twitterrific and paid for advanced features was the convenience of translation.

Hope these issues can be fixed soon. Hanging in there!

EDITING to say the speed has improved a lot with the last update.

Well I do like the cheating

Time ago I contributed for this app and everything was ok and is supposed you were going to have updates in future and all. Now I opened a couple times this week and the last week and I note the developer did something to force you again to buy subscriptions you already paid. This last times I used I didn’t have ad bars nothing all well, because I paid it time ago. But suddenly I noted today a corruption in my app like a crash after update, then I opened again and I noted the developer made the trick to force you to pay again for a new system of registration. I tried to click on restore purchases and of course is a new system and what I paid time ago was a lie. The developer from time to time change app to force you pay again. Don’t believe what it says Twitterrific about there is a purchase for life. Is a lie, in one year or two you will be assaulted again. This is dishonest.

So I have a question

Since I installed this , I also chose the bluebird donation tier because I wanted to give at least something . Anyway I reinstalled this so I could give the Apple watch thing a try also , and it has not worked in the past 3 weeks . It always gives me some sort of error . So I deleted Twitterrific and installed again. The "tip" thing is back , and there is no restore option (dunno if that's even possible with an IAP)

Anyway I had to track down my history and see which tier I chose, and pick that again to avoid being double charged . Just today , after installing the most recent update , the tip thing is back yet again . So again I will choose my level . Is this going to keep coming back every update ? Oh and btw the Apple watch thing still doesn't work . I have a Series 3 non LTE version and it's still tossing me connection errors . Any idea why ?

Dissapointed

I wish I could give you guys less than 1 stars, you betrayed the years I had been supporting you guys, I originally bought Twitterrific for the price of 1.99 before even the the tip jar existed!!! And when it was introduced I even donated since I always loved this flawless app, but you guys sure didn’t last long enough to destroy that trust by changing Twitterrific and making it just a money dumpster, lol 30$ for lifetime or even a 9.99$ annually or I could care less how much you ask for Twitterrific now, the thing is that you guys downgraded me to nothing and asked for more when I already gave all. Your competition a.k.a tweetbot has been loyal with it’s price and the features the offer have been the same since your own existence. So sad and disappointed, you killed Twitterrific and you killed a loyal customer, the worst part is that the message is going to be ignored and will go unnoticed

Dangerous to update

I paid for Twitterific years ago, and was mostly happy with it (except for its bookmark handling with poor connectivity, about which their support was particularly oblivious). But I upgraded Twitterrific recently, which was an irrevocable mistake—even though I paid for an ad-free version, I now have to subscribe or pay an extra $30 to get back what I paid for.
So before you ever upgrade Twitterific again, make sure you have also bought iMazing for your Mac, and have made a copy of the last safe version of Twitterific. Doing this after you update is too late, even if you have the safe version on another device. (I happen to have a really ancient version, this app 5.13.4.ipa, on my Mac, which I’ll try.)

Great App! A Little Slow

I have the one-time, paid version and I appreciate Twitterrific allows that option rather than forcing me to subscribe as I’m not able to commit financially to yet another subscription.

My only complaint is that Twitterrific seems to be very slow when opening the Replies/Thread view when loading the replies or thread items. Incidentally, search results populate at an extremely slow speed if at all which is really annoying. I end up waiting so long that I just usually close my search and use the native Twitter app to do it. If these speed issues were fixed this would be a total 5-star experience.

By

Finally !!!

So I have literally tried All Available twitter apps including the native app and expensive Tweetbot 4 but my final choice is this app. It has features from both native twitter app and Tweetbot which makes it perfect for me the way I like. You do have to pay $4.99 optional if you want to unlock push notifications and “Today” view. And that’s one complaint I do have. I shouldn’t have to pay to view who liked my tweets and how many were retweeted etc. I was surprised how nice the alert is on Apple Watch. Profile picture with full twitter handle and all emojis etc. not a one liner alert like most other apps. I hope the updates keep coming.

Great! Just missing minor things

I gotta say! It’s so worth it to pay the extra cost for no ads, love the customizability, the only thing I miss about the stock twitter app is the push notifications for specific accounts, I would love to see when a certain account tweets or RT right away, but it’s fine, I just move the to my list and have it on the bottom bar and will read their tweets when I have the time. There also would be an added benefit to 3ds touch across the system and not just with pictures or videos, I’d like to peek and pop into the whole tweet and such, but Overall would recommend!
