Websters1828DictionaryUSA has changed completely. The majority of definitions used to have clear references to scripture, and examples of the words being used in the Bible. I just checked several words, and those references are almost entirely gone. Most telling are the words “sheep” and “shepherd”. Sheep especially used to have a long, and deeply meaningful definition in light of the word’s significance in Christianity. I opened Websters1828DictionaryUSA Store to see if there was an explanation for the change. There isn’t one. What I noticed though is that an app that has reviews from as long ago as 11 years, somehow now has less than 50 reviews. I also noticed the developers labeling a review that pointed out the changes in Websters1828DictionaryUSA as a fake review from another dictionary developer. There is a good possibility this review will also be labeled as fake. There is one way to tell if these critical reviews are fake - check the updated dictionary for yourself. If you are lucky, after a bland definition resembling definitions found in almost every dictionary, there may be a reference to a single verse.
Websters1828DictionaryUSA updated and has now taken out the scripture references....from where the definitions originated. Better get yourself a hard copy of this and a King James Bible too because this is the way it's going.
What I type into the annotations portion doesn’t show up! And I tap on “app support” and it says “website coming soon.” The feature I bought this for is invisible and I can’t resolve it by simple reinstalling. I want my money back please if this can’t be fixed.
I have two stars because I am a fan of the 1828, but Websters1828DictionaryUSA is not working for my iPhone 4. If you fix this problem I would appreciate it since I have paid you five dollars. In my opinion that is a great price for a working product. Please fix this. Thank you.
I was looking up the word LEAVE in Websters1828DictionaryUSA and it was not there. I have the Webster's 1828 Dictionary on my bookshelf so I took it out and looked it up in there. Sure enough it was there in between LEATHERY and LEAVED. I think you need to do an update to include the word LEAVE in your app.
Love this dictionary! As a Christian I love how the 1828 version has definitions to words in the Bible that most modern dictionaries do not. However, I do believe it would be even better if it had a thesaurus to it as well.
First of all: THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE DICTIONARY! It will not have modern words/definitions! You will be disappointed if you want that!
Having said that, I have found this unique dictionary to be incredibly useful, when trying to understand words from a different era. It is insightful how a word can evolve over time and have a different meaning from one time period to another. I don’t like assuming what author’s are trying to say- and interpret their words through MY viewpoint. So when I’m reading American Authors at the turn of the century this dictionary is so enlightening!

Daniel Webster (the author) felt compelled to write a dictionary for Americans and set a standard for how to spell and define words from an American’s point of view. Prior to his dictionary there was quite a bit of confusion for what a standard was for so many words that were spoken/written in America. You can imagine how school teachers, writers, lawyers, judges an so forth had a hard time communicating/educating. For this reason Webster took it upon himself to painstakingly work on a dictionary! Which makes him a very intriguing man to me. As a lot of men from his time- he was not boxed in by just one career or fixated on One speciality- but rather was multifaceted. This dictionary is a direct result of how American English broke from England’s way of spelling and vernacular.
I love this dictionary! I use it to witness to people right alongside with my Holy Bible. People today don't understand how the English language had changed. I point out that Satan has been changing language in order to change the Word of God. I point this out between the NIV vs. the KJV & then have people look at the differences in the definitions of the word "morality." I am very glad this book is still with us today & an app on an iPhone, no less!
This is a remarkable resource. The interface is clean and easy to use.
However, as someone who is vision impaired, it would be very helpful if I could enlarge the font sizes within Websters1828DictionaryUSA or zoom in on the screen.
With that being said, I still highly recommend Websters1828DictionaryUSA.
I often need to look up words during Bible study, and I so appreciate that this dictionary can provide definitions and frequently even examples of how the word is used in scripture. My go to for Bible Study. I share it frequently and would love it a little easier.
Websters1828DictionaryUSA is great for Bible study. Many of the words are given examples in Biblical terms and explanations. Teaching Sunday school I have asked my class to download Websters1828DictionaryUSA for their own Bible study.

I have been looking for a Webster's 1828 Dictionary app for a long time, and I love this one! One problem though: Websters1828DictionaryUSA is wrongly named the "Noel" Webster's Dictionary in 2 places—on the cover image and Websters1828DictionaryUSA title. Please fix as its a bit embarrassing!

Absolutely adore this dictionary. It gives you the definitions of the words as our founding fathers meant them before lawyers came in and mucked it all up.
