Changed my life - then stopped working

I've used the Habit List app for almost ten years (!), and it's been truly lifechanging for me. I love the thoughtful simplicity of HabitList and have recommended it to countless people.

Alas, at some point in January, HabitList stopped loading on my phone. When I hit the icon, it starts to open, but then nothing happens.

It’s been amazing to see how quickly my longstanding habits of nearly a decade have fallen apart without this simple accountability structure. I tried reaching out to customer support via email (twice) but never heard back. I’m devastated that this powerful tool I depended on so much has let me down.

Hard to tell

I downloaded HabitList for free hoping to try it out and see if it works well before I bought the full version. However the free version only lets you have 3 goals. Three goals isn’t helpful at all. Pen and paper would be more useful. It’s hard to tell if I’ll bother keeping this or trying something else because I can’t figure out if I’ll like it or not with only 3 goals. It would be nice if they at least have a trial period for the full version (say a week) to properly try it out. I’m not going to spend money on the full version and then it turns out I don’t like app.

It works, but not well

It works fine, but it’s not worth $5 and is pretty useless unless you pay to unlock “premium” features.

You can only add 3 habits for free. If that’s all you need you should be fine, but I needed more. There’s also no way to change your overview (see habits by the week/month), set tasks for specific days (i.e the 23rd of each month), or set more than one reminder per task. This makes it kinda hard to plan ahead or stay organized.

I have 6 habits to keep track of, and it feels like things are slipping through the cracks already. There’s definitely better apps that provide these features for free and many more for the same price or less.

Excellent app! Just one issue

This is a great and elegant little app, and one of the only I’ve found that allows you to track habits due every X number of days. It also allows you to add counters to individual habits, so you can tally your progress towards completing a habit for that day. (So you can see you’ve taken 2/3 of your walks for the day before checking off your Walk habit, for example.)

My only complaint is that it is very easy to miss the small buttons for checking off a habit or (especially) changing its counter, and then you accidentally open up the calendar for that habit instead. This calendar is the function I use the least often, and yet I often accidentally open it, especially when trying to tap the small counter buttons. I would prefer it if the calendar were opened by a long press, or if the other buttons were made bigger, to avoid this sometimes frustrating issue. HabitList would easily be five stars for me if that were changed.

Great! Some small improvements opportunities

Been using HabitList for years and I love it! Only minor complaint is that I wish I could: - archive habit instead of having to delete them - skip a habit for X days to preempt a vacation or something. Also in the most recent version, my habits that are every X days is showing green when it should be gray and vice-versa. (e.g every 5-7 days, it shows green on day 4 and gray on day 6.) Overall it’s a stellar app and well worth the premium fee. Also really appreciate it’s not a subscription! Thanks for a great experience. 💜

Love it but for $5 it could be a little better

This is the best habit tracker I’ve found so far, but I was surprised fo see that HabitList kept prompting me to upgrade to premium for $5. I upgraded, but now HabitList still keeps prompting me to upgrade every time I add a new habit and the “restore purchase” button doesn’t do any good.

I really love the design and the simplicity of HabitList - I think this is its biggest draw and it’s very well done in my opinion. I like the subtle animations and that there’s not a bunch of buttons everywhere with unnecessary settings.

One suggestion I have is to make more options for the frequency of the habit or possibly even a customizable frequency. I have a few habits I do every other week, for example, but I can’t load them into HabitList .

In short, this is a great app that could use just a few minor tweaks. I’m excited to see where the developers take it in the new year!

Not bad...🙂

I have a few suggestions though...
First off I am all about staying on task and this is why I like HabitList so much. The only problem I have, is that I’m not rich, so I can’t get premium ... So, I just wanted to ask if the people who aren’t getting premium like me, are going to be able to at least have 5 habits instead of 3... because only having 3 is kinda lame... Also (I don’t really care if you add this to premium) can you make it so you can change the sound of the notifications? I feel like people would enjoy that. Anyway, hope you all read this; it is a really good and simple app that could use my advice and be the best app ever!!😉

Great app, minor bug

Great app to track daily habits. It’s helped me stay centered and focused on self-care during crazy times and normal times but especially during the global pandemic! It does still remind you when the reminder time for a habit comes even if you’ve already marked it complete - that’s the only issue. It shouldn’t do this per HabitList prompts when you’re setting up a habit. Love HabitList overall!

Perfect app, just what I was looking for!

I downloaded about 10 apps, they were full of questions about how are you feeling, what are your goals, how do you sleep... They analyze you and give you a program to follow.

I just need a reminder system so I don't forget to do my favorite things like knitting on a regular basis.

HabitList is perfect for me!

Set goals, achieve them

Everyone who knows how to be successful knows the importance of writing your goals down. It is much easier to achieve and hold yourself accountable for things that can be held and my generation is always holding their phones! Therefore what better way to achieve your goals then through Habit List! Easy, accessible, environmentally friendly...it’s this generations post it on the mirror! 😁

Dead simple but effective habit tracker.

I like HabitList because it has flexibility. You can easily go back and edit past days, modify settings of habits, etc.

Tbh I’ve been looking into other apps mostly to get some extra features like widgets or an Apple Watch version, but haven’t found anything that works as well as habit list. Straightforward and let’s me do everything I need (except have features like widgets).

Great for forming/tracking new habits

I don't often rate apps, but this is a really great one. It has helped me add several new habits into my daily and weekly life, things I don't want to clutter my task manager with (i.e. Take pill, floss etc.) the interface is simple and intuitive and it lets you track your "unbroken chain" and how many days/month you have done something. It's really great, thank you!

A MUST-HAVE!

This is one of my favorite apps on my phone! I tend to be a rather disorganized person, and I have been diagnosed with adult ADHD. HabitList keeps me on track! I use it for everything from good habits like flossing daily, to working out, to giving the dogs medicine. The periods you can choose from are especially great: daily, certain days of the week, non-specific days ("do three times a week") and even multiple times the same day. It is absolutely a life-saver for all the things to remember in my day-to-day life.

Simple, Uncluttered, Beautiful

I tried a few other apps for tracking habits but came back to Habit List. The clear design doesn’t distract or encourage procrastination. It doesn’t get in the way or call attention to itself. You open HabitList and what's been done and what’s left to finish is right there. Less is more. AND support is excellent. I’ve sent questions twice over the past year and both times got a specific answer within hours.

Hits the sweet spot of habit trackers

I’ve tried many different apps. This one hits the sweet spot. All the great features. Not a pricey subscription model (so far).

Where it really shines is in how customizable the frequency of habit is. Most only let you pick specific days of the week. This one lets you pick “every number of days”. Others have the feature, but are costly. I don’t mind paying good money for an app, I’m just tired of getting dinged $2, $3, or $4.99 a month. It’s not just the money, but it’s also having to track accounts on my debit card.

Simplicity and task customizability are key

HabitList helps me remember what my morning and evening routines are. I love that the interface is simple and clean. No distractions. The simple checklist format helps me get to the point and get things done. I also like that it is so easy to customize the name of the task/habit — there was another app I tried that made it take like 5 steps to edit the pre-set task name, and even then you had to pick an icon for the task, etc etc. No thanks! This gets the job done much more intuitively and efficiently. The job being — me knowing what I have to do and effectively executing it. Just have to give a note of thanks for HabitList because it’s helping me so much and I love it.

I keep coming back to this app

The beauty of HabitList is in it’s simplicity. I too have used HabitList for many years and I don’t think I’ve ever written a review. I tried something else ( flashier widget) for a while, but it ended up being too complicated. A simple checklist where you swipe it and have a choice of completing it, skipping or excusing yourself for some reason from your habit is just great and it gives you great feedback on how you’re doing over time. It’d be nice to have a widget and a watch app and syncing to your iPad and all the rest of that stuff and I would pay for it if it was offered but I’m very happy with this.

Really good - simple, with a nice interface

I like this one a lot. Adding goals and checking the stats is very simple. There aren't dozens of formatting and detail choices or suggestions to add lots of information. There are no ads, and the developer doesn’t monitor or share your info. You pay once up front and that's it. The interface is well-designed, easy-to-read and "friendly." It can provide some bells and whistles if you want them, but I find HabitList works for me by keeping things simple. It's a bit like having a small piece of paper in your pocket where you just tick things off, and the tasks not yet completed move up to the top of today's list. I had a small question for the developers and the response was great. Definitely recommend.

Best Habit Tracker 💕💕 and I've tried most if not all

Oh my god, I've finally found the one after so many trials and purchases of similar apps. Let me start by saying HabitList has a superb support team, had an issue and had it resolved within 30 min!

Pros:
* Constant improvements and great support team
* Very flexible: I can have habits behave however I want, 4x a day every day, 5x a day at least 4 days of the week, once every 2 weeks, it goes on and on. I love this so much, none of the other apps I've tried had these types of options.
* Very intuitive: visuals are beautiful, simple, and clean. List of habits are shown in a way to encourage productivity, if you've done the habit the required number of times already, the habit doesnt populate on the active list of habits so your to-do list is shorter. Everything is very straightforward and user friendly.
* Calendar function: the calendar shows actual days habit was accomplished, which is nice to have and keep track of.
* Great features: able to "skip" a habit without impacting a streak.

Suggestions:
* More color options, only white and black is okay but would love to customize.
* A widget?
* More stats! I love numbers and statistics, anything more beyond % completed by week and month would be awesome.

I love HabitList so much! Thank you and keep the innovations coming!!

I will never stop using this app

I absolutely love HabitList, it really helps me stay organized and hold myself accountable to my habits and daily to-dos. It’s so easy to use and a pleasant design. super customizable to however you need to use it. honestly, if you don’t like HabitList, you don’t deserve it anyways. Already recommended it to 2 friends who also love it too 🥺 good job guys
