Fleksy, Why Have You Forsaken Me?

I have used Fleksy for about 4 or 5 years. The minute they added third party keyboards for iOS, I installed it. I’ve built up a massive dictionary and set up a menagerie of custom themes on my… account… which I can no longer sign into...???
What’s good, guys? I wanted to carry that list with me from my Galaxy S7 onto my new iPhone 7, but the login option has been removed. Oh, also, it’s unstable and causes other (relatively stable) apps, such as Discord and Google Chrome, to crash.
I’m honestly heartbroken. I really loved the non-swipe gesture keyboard. I have a very hard time performing fine motor tasks and Fleksy was perfect for me where swipe keyboards fell short. I miss my Fleksy, the Fleksy I grew to love.

MAYDAY!!!

Update: FleksyGIFWebYelpSearch has continued to go downhill. The autocorrect doesn’t seem to speak English anymore. The lag in typing makes it impossible to do anything quickly. It just feels clunky and outdated now. You’ve managed to take what was a great concept and absolutely ruin it, and for what? Nothing major has changed to warrant this decline. There are no major new features. It’s like you had a good thing going, and decided to sabotage it. I used to type with nothing else. Now I would rather type with just about ANYTHING else. I’m sorry, Fleksy. It’s not me, it’s you. I think we should see other people.

———

Sadly, FleksyGIFWebYelpSearch still needs work. It still switches to the default iPhone keyboard at least once a day. It get Fleksy back you have to completely close the keyboard and bring it back up. Sometimes you have to do this several times. It's too bad, too. This is the only keyboard that didn't make one handed typing awkward. Maybe with the next update.

The new "Return Button and Caps Button" look ugly!

Why did you guys change the look of those buttons they're way too thick. They don't look good. Please change these buttons back to the way they were or at least give us the option to change them ourselves. This was my favorite keyboard I even paid for it a long time ago now it's becoming very bad. Also can you add the ability to add and outline to the keyboard to frame the keys and the buttons all together almost as if there's three lines through the keyboard (for the first row, second row and third). Then lines outlining the space bar and buttons please, that'd be great if you gave us more to customize; it'll be 5 stars then for sure.

Edit: still too thick. Give us the ability to change the buttons.

Typing broken

Features under the magnifying glass crash CONSTANTLY, I cannot search for a gif without the keyboard crashing and reverting to the stock apple keyboard. Keyboard also cannot handle typing between other words/backspacing, will skip around and delete words/letters/spaces & combine with other words or glitch and insert a the word your trying to backspace into another word.

Would love to be able to recommend the keyboard because the other features are great, but when a keyboard can't even be a functional keyboard, it really puts a damper on the product.

Much potential but ult v disappointing

I really wanted to love FleksyGIFWebYelpSearch. I have been using it on and off for a few years, have purchased pretty much everything in it, have made my own custom themes, etc. There are some quality of life things it does better than any other keyboard on the market.

However, I would still say it’s fundamentally unusable because of one major bug, which is that you cannot reliably go back and edit what you've already written without FleksyGIFWebYelpSearch freaking out. It'll do things like combine words, mix up letters between neighboring words, suddenly treat backspace like a delete key, delete all of a word except for the last letter when you have it selected and hit backspace, skip letters when you hit backspace, etc. If you do a lot of writing on your phone it's simply too much of a hassle to surpass the stock keyboard even though some of its unique features are killer.

Almost great

I'm in love with this keyboard, which is too bad for me because parts of it are awful. There are things that are great; I love the look and feel of it, doing things with gestures us great, although some of it can be tricky. When in landscape mode all punctuation appears on screen, and there's no reason to be without that. Even in portrait, punctuation is easily available by gesture. That solves a lack that made me seek a third party keyboard. There are little glitches, such as when I click on a word suggestion and then on some punctuation, the punctuation should go back one space to appear right after the word, rather than me having to go back one. Also, words don't appear as suggestions until I start to type. But then what does come often doesn't make any sense, as if predictions aren't based on how language is used. And the autocorrect can be as bad; clumsily enter broccoli and it gives me "bro chilli" which I'm quite certain nobody would ever say. Even things as simple as forgetting to put a space between words is unreliable. All in all, I love it well enough to pay for some cosmetic features. If they just improve a couple aspects I'll come back with five stars.
And now they just updated it! Some things are better: WhatsApp doesn't immediately come up as a suggestion, but I still have to really focus to write broccoli.

What happened?

So I've had FleksyGIFWebYelpSearch since it came out and loved it. Customizing options are plentiful. Swiping mechanic is genius I've gotten so used to it. Lovely pre-made themes. Loved it. Unfortunately have had to stop using it. Ever since I got ios11 the keyboard on most occasions doesn't like to open. It's very very delayed and glitchy with showing half of the keyboard to start then flickering between half to full. And sometimes it just doesn't work at all and I get the normal apple keyboard and I have to open and close my keyboard about 3-4 times before it decides to work. I have to stop using it because it's very aggravating. Please fix and I will redownload.

Better, but still needs work

I absolutely love the features of Fleksy. Once you figure out the gestures to control things like autocorrect you will never want to go back to the standard keyboard. Unfortunately, Fleksy was bought out by Pinterest and was completely unusable for about a year. Luckily, it's been brought back to life. I'm happy with the progress they've made, but it's still not something I can imagine anyone using. It's still crashing basically all of the time, and while it's useable up to a point, if I do as much as switch to another app, I tend to have to wait for the keyboard to crash and reload before I can use it again. I haven't gone as far as uninstalling it like I did when it was bought out, but I'm still waiting for the next update. Hopefully by that point it will be stable.

Would be my daily driver if only ...

My main issue with this keyboard is the size discrepancy, this isn’t really a good keyboard for someone that doesn’t have 20/20 vision. The keyboard is either obnoxiously large , or ridiculously small. Theirs no sweet spot, no in between. The Apple keyboard is the perfect size on top and bottom, if flesky could copy Apple keyboards size dynamics or google keyboards size dynamics , this could be a 5 star player - but until then - it’s not. Flesky has had many updates since it’s launch , they’ve added a lot of impractical features , it’s time to think practically, the UI is in need of a change , you know this , work on this and you will easily gain a higher usage for your keyboard!

So much potential, but ruined by some key issues

The biggest of which is the lag. The keyboard just lags so much!!!! This has to be fixed.
Additionally, it would be great if we could get a 3D Touch hard press for a trackpack/ cursor like in the native keyboard. And the trackpad should be able to traverse multiple lines. I think the native keyboard is a great model of that.
Moreover, it would be nice to have to option of enabling haptic feedback, so that the keyboard vibrates with each key press. I think this would be very satisfying with the Taptic Engine.
If these issues could be resolved, I think Fleksy could decisively beat the native keyboard. Fleksy has so much potential, and I really want it to reach it!

Where is this going?

You don't get it. Fleksy is what makes me enjoy my iPhone as a blind user. I would easily pay a 3 digit number for it, because it's that important. It really makes me feel less disabled. Chatting, writing emails, responding to messages, none of that feels like a chore, thanks to Fleksy. Before that, I would systematically think twice prior to starting to write anything, make it as brief as possible, and certainly not enjoy it.
Guys, what is happening? Why are you trying to become everything? I get the concept. I almost designed an operating system commanded by natural language and a keyboard. It's a great central interface.
But is it worth challenging an app that has already executed it's purpose, and brought you some prosperity? At least I hope it did.
I'm worried Fleksy will become inaccessible with time. I wish you could safeguard it's basic predictive keyboard functions. A little fork of what used to be Fleksy.
I hope you will consider it.
You truly are the most important piece of software on my phone...

Pretty good!

Mostly good. I really miss the buttons that move the cursor left or right a space. Especially since this keyboard likes to put the cursor in weird spots and moving the cursor with the spacebar shortcut is a pain.

The biggest frustration is the autocorrect dictionary. It's missing quite a few silly words. Just looking at the first page of words I've had to manually add

Absentmindedly, alluringly, alternated, artless, bob, boulder

In general I wish it weren't quite so aggressive at replacing an in recognized word with something that's clearly complete nonsense. It's also never correctly switched a word like, say, into to onto or vice versa haha. It kinda feels like it should just defer to the typist there. Though maybe that's one of the things it learns how to handle better over time.

I still prefer it to the default ios keyboard, I think.

(Issue Fixed in latest update) Used to like it before nag screens when launching keyboard

I used to like it before nag screens when launching a keyboard. If I'm launching a keyboard I want to type I don't want to take a tour of your new features. If i want info on the new features I'll read the notes. How annoying to have these repeatedly come up when I'm trying to do something else. I searched and could not find anything in settings to disable. So it's take the tour or be annoyed; I'll pass.

Favorite Keyboard for years!

I should really search my AppStore purchase/download history to see when I first discovered Fleksy… but it’s been many —*very enthused and appreciative*— years! I LOVE this keyboard. Though there are other keyboards I use sporadically and still more I play around with briefly, this is my go-to and favorite. It’s on every device. Even Androids*.

* ( ↑← …speaking of, there seem to be many features unavailable for Apple users that are included in your PlayStore version.
→ What gives? )

Update Fail***working great now! ****

Ok have to be fair... I uninstalled and restarted the phone then reinstalled... Working great back to 5 stars. I will use exclusively for a few weeks to see if spellcheck (just happened again... I type "and then", Fleksy inserts "absinthe") has improved and will post another review.

Honestly lately I've been using the stock keyboard more, the experience keeps improving while typing on Fleksy has continued to get worse. Horrible spell check, random period insertions, bad suggestions on word selection. Too bad this keyboard used to always be my go to.

Rediscovered This

I used Fleksy as my main keyboard several years ago, but had to give it up because of some annoying bugs. I decided to see if it was still around and it and it was. I downloaded it, got I set up and have been happily using it ever since. I don't think you'll find another keyboard with the feature set and customization that Fleksy has. Once you get used to its features (especially fast delete and how it handles punctuation) you'll make it your main keyboard.

Predictions have been added

To start Fleksy is my favorite keyboard for the iPhone and has been for years. No other keyboard beats it in terms of overall fluidity and speed of typing. However since being revived by the new development team, there have been very few feature updates. I understand that these things take time, and that is fine. However now that predictions have been added finally, they feel half baked. Yes they're finally "next word predictions" but they don't currently learn from the user and predict our learned words. We also can't automatically insert the best predicted word like every other AI powered keyboard. Without being able to do this, the predictions just feel only half useful. To me the whole purpose of predictions would be to suggest words that only the specific user of the keyboard routinely types. Otherwise Fleksy is still the same great keyboard as always and this is a reasonable update for some people.

Works but it doesn't sometimes cause of a bug

Plenty ofcustomization but whenever I search for an app (on my home screen) the keyboard bugs out as if it isn't even an option. If I have no other keyboard set up, it won't even be the apple keyboard, there just won't be a keyboard at all

This is why I hate ios cause there is no customization by default, I'm glad apps like this exist, even if the keyboard I just made just poofs, it's not the worst thing ever but it's just kinda annoying to remake

But why doesn't your keyboard work on FleksyGIFWebYelpSearch search menu where it says "siri suggestions"

Makes typing so much easier

This keyboard is so fast and accurate it's crazy. One of the main things I really like about it is the gestures; you simply swipe left to delete a word, swipe right to press space, and swipe up/down after typing a word to quickly switch between autocorrections. Also it's super customizable, you can add a comma button to the the bottom, or you can change the size, or you can get rid of the space bar entirely because of the swipe right gesture. There's tons of theme options, and you can make your own pretty easily if you'd like. Once you get used to everything Fleksy has to offer, typing will become a breeze and you'll constantly be swiping all over the place on other phone keyboards. Hadn't found a keyboard that made me want to switch away from the default, but this might be it.

I love this keyboard. Just one complaint.

Just got back after using this keyboard and I saw it had been updated, and it got me excited because this keyboard was great! Anyway, after getting this back, I was disappointed at how the keyboard just can't keep up with typing. Something about it feels slow, sticky, or tacky. I love the animations don't get me wrong! Im just not sure what it is. I still love it so I'll still use it. Hope this gets addressed.
