WATE 6 On Your Side News Reviews

We have three stations for local news. Be sure to skip this one for sure. Open WATE6OnYourSideNews and the first thing your presented with is an ad. Once you clear that and open a category like news, after the very first story you'll find yet another ad. I understand the need to make money but don't litter them throughout the news stories. If you're looking for an app that'll waste your time, this is for you. If you need an app that sends you pointless notifications about the Vols being arrested and not something important like traffic backups on the interstate, this is for you. If you want a power hungry app to drain your battery, this is for you. On a plus note, it deletes pretty quickly. And once removed all of the negatives I mentioned will go away.

Very disappointed in WATE. They’ve covered stories and where most likely pressed for time on running it, failed to confirm facts before running the story. This damages people’s lives, families, and careers. We used to love watching WATE. But now watch another local news station. Because they didn’t run a certain story about some dear friends of ours. Probably because they didn’t want to report false information. Much respect for the integrity of WVLT.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I love getting my news from WATE6OnYourSideNews especially since I can’t watch the news every night at 6 and by 11 I’m in bed. Here lately every time I start reading a story, WATE6OnYourSideNews will freeze and at times it will restart its self. It’s getting old and I’m about to the point of deleting WATE6OnYourSideNews and going with another local news app.

Got family members scattered all through East Tennessee. So living in Florida, I figured WATE was a great way to keep informed on events in the E. Tennessee area. So I downloaded WATE6OnYourSideNews about a year ago. The last update has really messed things up. When you click on a news story. After nearly a paragraph it prompts you to press an icon to continue reading. So it takes you to another page. Then in about a few sentences later another icon pops up with the same message. Once you acknowledge that button the advertisement disappears. I understand advertisements is what keeps WATE6OnYourSideNews free. But, going through all this may not be worth the time.

I get the need for ads to make money, but when there is severe weather and threats of tornados in the area, you should not have to wait for an ad or two before you can view the live weather forecast. Under no circumstances is that appropriate in an emergency situation.

I shouldn’t have to click three times to read a full story, which appears to be the case with the new version. Highly annoying, enough such that I may revisit using the other local news apps.

I enjoy keeping up with local news and would give WATE 5 stars instead of 3 if they would not insert liberal views into the news stories. I want to keep abreast of what’s going on in my area but I don’t wish to have political opinions, whether Right or Left, included. JUST NEWS!!!

To say WATE6OnYourSideNews has problems is a courteous understatement. The notifications that pop up on your lock screen don’t always take you to the story in question, and invariably you’ll have to swipe to dismiss at least one ad (and maybe more) to actually get to the story. The Traffic notifications are the worst. The notification often isn’t long enough to include all of the necessary information enabling you to avoid the area, but if you tap the notification, it doesn’t take you to a longer story, it takes you to a traffic map that is usually so out of date as to be useless, if it even opens on the location involved. Usually, it just opens a screen showing the entire five county area, and YOU have to figure out what part to zoom in on. It’s also obvious that the newsroom is doing cut-and-paste to flesh out stories, and don’t bother to catch grammatical or spelling mistakes, and even sometimes inconsistent factual information. My favorite example is a headline saying the identity of a body found earlier has been released, but the first paragraph of the story says the identification is still being withheld pending notification of relatives, and then the second paragraph goes ahead and names the victim! Do these people even HAVE an editor?

This team are an awsome team they cut up and make hearing the new and weather enjoyable I love all of the WATE team from Bo to Trisha to Trint to Mat and Lorie you guys and gals keep up the awsome job you do love all of you.

I always go to channel 6 to get the latest new. Keep up the good work keeping us informed of what’s going on.

I’ve have been a Channel 6 loyal view since 93. It’s the only news in Knoxville I will watch. Love all the personalities.
I would like to mention something I just watched on the news cast. You team was at the Smokies Stadium filming a wonderful story on the Make A Wish Organization.
As I was watching I noticed that while speaking to the father the fans were standing and the national anthem was being sung.
Please as a Proud American and a mother of a Army soldier and a veteran KPD Officer please ask your team members to pay attention to this and stop the interview till the anthem is finished.

Good to have. First thing I look at in the morning. Lots of push alerts but then the story may not be there for a while Same stories appear over and over

WATE is the only news app I will ever have on my phone. I tried them all, and only WATE keeps up with updates..... also not too many at a time. I hate the updates on the other east TN news app that (seems to me) happen everyday.
Also upset that AT&T Uverse bumped WATE off the air.

The only thing I would like to see you change is to put Matt Hinkin back on the evening time slot. I have watched him for years. He is an icon at the station. And since he has shared his story about his diagnosis of Parkinson’s, he can be a source of hope and encouragement to others. The evening time slot would give him greater exposure to those also dealing with the disease.

Update!!! They fixed WATE6OnYourSideNews !!! One happy camper here now!! Love my Channel 6!!!!! I missed my newsfeed, ain’t gonna lie. 🙌 Five Star now!!! ( I went to check the news this morning but WATE6OnYourSideNews was updating. When I came back later, EACH TIME still no connection. I have turned off my phone to reboot to see if that would help, no.... I have deleted and reinstalled, no...... Alas, good-bye app. )

23 years ago we retired to East Tennessee. Having to learn about new TV stations and people involved in them, I checked all the local ones. I quickly decided Channel 6, WATE was my choice.....for news, for weather, for everything. And they remain so to this day. Earlier this year the cable company was in some sort of money dispute and I was without Channel 6 for right at 2 months. It was like losing my best friend. Channel 6 is my choice as number 1.

I hate the pop up window saying this was brought to me by children’s. I get it. It doesn’t have to be there every. Freaking. Time. I open WATE6OnYourSideNews .

I love WATE6OnYourSideNews & getting all the minute by minute news stories, but I work night shift & the alert prompt sound is rather annoying when you r trying to sleep during the day, However I love all the WATE News/Weather Team & wouldn’t get my local new or weather from any other source. Very accurate & reliable. Love them all.

No other weather man I trust and love to hear weather reports from more than Matt Hinkin, with Ken Weathers with the weather coming in 2nd. For the news, love Lorie Tucker, Kristen, and Bo. Always so professional yet friendly down to earth with a Great Love for East Tennessee. No other channel for news & weather in Knoxville for me.
