The Bible with Nicky and Pippa Reviews

This is my 3rd year following the content in TheBiblewithNickyandPippa. It is a great way to read through the Word with insights and explanations that make it so meaningful. Love it!
Unfortunately very disappointed in the changes made for 2021.
There is no need to show the full Bible texts as so many are using their own Bible for the readings. The previous way - click on the text to open to it was much better. Now there is So much to scroll back and forth through if you have your own Bible or want to read back in the commentary.
Also, previous version used to let you send a particular daily devotional to others, now not able to do this. I think this was a mistake. Being able to send someone one of the daily commentaries was a way to spread the Message to another person who might benefit from it. Plus it made others aware of this wonderful App. Please make this option available again. Thank you for considering these suggestions/requests.

I have used BIOY for some time now & LOVE it but this new update is not visually appealing or easy to follow & doesn’t have options like the old one.
The old version you could see when you finished reading each section so if you had to stop then come back you had an idea of where you were but not the new version. As soon as you open it the check shows up like you’ve completed the whole day. It has no tracking guide for each day.
There’s so much empty space as I scroll I’m not sure if it’s something that hasn’t downloaded or just wasted space
This might be petty but even the color options are gone. It’s only red. And unfortunately red is my least favorite color & seeing that at 5am every morning is not how I love to start my visual day.
BUT with all that being said the content is still incredible with the commentaries. I still HIGHLY recommend TheBiblewithNickyandPippa just wish it had more of the features & tracking of the old version.

I’ve used other one year plans, but this is by far the best. The commentaries are especially helpful in relating unfamiliar and difficult to understand Old Testament passages. One difficulty I’ve experienced is about every 2 or 3 months TheBiblewithNickyandPippa locks up, and the day’s commentaries and scriptures won’t upload. I’ve tried the usual fixes-rebooting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling TheBiblewithNickyandPippa , or just waiting a day or so. None of these fixes work consistently. The new version isn’t any better. On balance, I prefer the old version. If for some reason I stop in the middle of the day’s readings, the old version resumed where I left off rather than starting over. Also, if I use the audio version, it’s sometimes difficult to get it to close.

Great content terrible update. I’ve been reading Bioy for more than five years. I love it and have downloaded TheBiblewithNickyandPippa on everyone who asked me what Bible app I use on my phone. I love Nicky and Pippa’s commentary. It feels like if I known them for years. God blessed them for the work and dedication forever. But this version is not appealing. Too many blank spaces. I’ve got back to previous days to see if something didn’t finish downloading but it was still the same. When an oncoming call comes though you lose your place and of your audio. Where’s my verse for the day ? That’s what keeps me going. Also I shared the verse of the day with my love ones which they look forward to it. They said that’s there turbo to start their day since they can’t read the Bible in the morning. The verse of the day is a extra strength to start your day. Can you at least add the verse of the day back. Thanks

I just got TheBiblewithNickyandPippa because I decided I wanted to try and read the Bible in one year. I did not do much research, I just picked an app. God lead me to TheBiblewithNickyandPippa. It is wonderful. I expected it to give me a few verses to read everyday, but it is so much more. It includes daily scriptures from Psalms/Proverbs, the New Testament, and the Old Testament. It also includes a reading that follows up with the scripture you read. The reading helps break down some of the scripture that might have been hard to understand in that context. It has helped me relate what I have read into my daily life. Then it also includes prayers that you can use as you finish. What a wonderful tool.

The only request I have is a function that would allow highlighting or note taking. This obviously is not imperative, but would be a nice addition.

I have always wanted to read the Bible. I would start in Genesis and eventually fall off my reading and stop. I found that simply reading the Bible on your own, without being led with interpretation is very difficult. My wife was using this application to read the Bible and suggested I give it a try. Not only did I use TheBiblewithNickyandPippa over a years time to complete reading the Bible, I started it again and am part way through my second time. I really value the guidance of Nicky Gumbel to lead me through the Bible and interpreting the passages so I can gain full understanding. May God bless Nicky & Pippa for creating TheBiblewithNickyandPippa so that I could accomplish my desire to read the Bible. It is now part of my life every day.

I have used TheBiblewithNickyandPippa for years. The content and value is fantastic. BUT! I really hate the new interface, and it has impeded my ability to keep up with it. For example, it defaults to today even though I may not have viewed/listened for several days due to my schedule. There used to be a way to know if I had finished the lesson or only got through 1/3 of it by clicking only on the Bible verse I’d finished, then seeing it marked as 1/3 done. I’d know where to pick up from. But now, it marks the whole day done whether I’ve actually finished it or not. So if I mistakenly click on today and then go back to yesterday, it’ll mark both as done. Ugh! I also miss the way each section was shown as a list while listening , and you could forward or backward to a section and see visually where you are while listening (such as being in the middle of the New Testament audio when I had to stop.

My husband and I have been Alpha leaders in the US for almost 10 years now. I am constantly recommending TheBiblewithNickyandPippa to our Alpha teams.

I can no longer recommend TheBiblewithNickyandPippa. I can no longer use TheBiblewithNickyandPippa as I’ve always used it. I cannot go back and listen to and read previous entries as I’ve always done. I can no longer search previous days and send encouraging sections to friends and Alpha attendees. I can no longer use TheBiblewithNickyandPippa as a reference. This makes me SOOOO incredibly sad. I’m not sure how I’ll start my day moving forward but it will no longer be with Pippa and Nicky and David.

This update was not an improvement, IMO. It wasn’t broke so why did you have to “fix it”. I really wish I had the old version back as it was MUCH more user friendly and much more of a resource to help others. No, I won’t use the website where I have to page through day after day after day to get to the day I want to reread or copy a section for someone in need.

I have been doing Nicky’s BiOY for years and I loved going back to previous days and previous years, even. Now I cannot see ANY of the previous days/years.

I’m sure a great deal of time was spent on this “update” but it is a HUGE step backwards, again IMO.

What was wrong with the previous version? I miss the listing for each day (commentary, psalm/proverbs and commentary, New Testament and commentary, Old Testament and commentary.)

Help!!! I’m soooooooooo sad. 🙁

I absolutely love everything about TheBiblewithNickyandPippa EXCEPT for the new changes this year. Previous years (I’ve been using TheBiblewithNickyandPippa for four years) I was able to either click on the scripture reference or use my own Bible, but now it’s all in the same one long page which is a nuisance to navigate. Also, red is my least favorite color and we used to be able to pick which color we wanted the interface to be. I like that before, it kept track of where I was in the reading for the day (for example: I read psalms and New Testament but still needed for read the Old Testament passage) so I could go back and finish later on in the day. Hopefully someone from TheBiblewithNickyandPippa creation reads these reviews that so many have already posted and they can make those changes. Thanks!

I have had the Bible in One Year App for many years and love it. I have used it consistently for the past 9 years and rarely has there been a glitch. Up until now I would give TheBiblewithNickyandPippa a 4.5 star rating (maybe update your commentary once in a while?). On Jan. 1, 2021, they changed the format, which I am having a bit of trouble navigating. It isn’t as intuitive to use. In the past, I could look at the reading chart and see if I had skipped over a section (usually the Old Testament as I read the New Testament and the Psalm/Proverb in the am and Old Testament before bed). Cannot do that with the new version. Either you read that day or you don’t. Took me a while to figure out how to get from the chart to the actual reading. Some things work and just don’t need to be changed. Hope the developers realize this and change it back.

Three friends and I use TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and keep one another accountable to read.

I love the readings, although they’re in a weird order—It’s disconcerting to have the Old Testament last — hard to end the reading with some of those writings and it’s an illogical flow.

The audio is excellent! I love being able to change speed settings based on what I need during the day—can slow it down when I’m winding down for sleep!

*However*
If I open a day’s reading and get interrupted, it’s marked off as completed and *the reader can’t change that*, so it’s easy to miss portions.

*Also* (and this is the worst part) *it is impossible to “read ahead” past today’s assigned reading*. If I have a busy time coming up or just am interested, and want to read more, I cannot. In recent months I have wanted on many days to read more than one selection but could not. Life happens. It’s nicer to be ahead than behind . During the past three weeks I was injured and many of my reading days got away from me. I now have a discouraging number to read through to get caught up. But I can never get ahead. TheBiblewithNickyandPippa should open to the location of Today’s selection in the list, but allow the reader to scroll forward and backward to read ahead or catch up if they choose. Please change this. It’s the thing that is a bad problem but it’s an unpleasant interaction to have.

I have used and love BIOY! I am thrilled there are new options for it and know they will bring God glory! But there are some frustrating issues with it that I fear will cause people to go off it. Wish you could just open and it would offer all previous dates and let you go where you want instead of having to choose where to start. I’ve had to delete TheBiblewithNickyandPippa multiple times because it seems to freeze and not let me in on a day and I want to go back and listen to it. Also TheBiblewithNickyandPippa does not seem to want to let you listen to more than one day at a time (you can read but it won’t let you listen). As a classic listener, I was more than happy with the previous version but find the new one unfriendly and hard to work with.

I’ve used TheBiblewithNickyandPippa for years and loved how it was set up with the scripture reading, commentary, then a prayer for each section of the scripture readings. I recommended it to friends and family, raving about how practical it made the Bible. The old set up of TheBiblewithNickyandPippa was great with the progress of the day set up. I would often do the Psalms/Proverbs reading in the morning, New Testament in the afternoon, and the Old Testament before bed. With this new update I can’t do that as easily. There’s a lot of scrolling involved. Also, I wanted to start in the middle of the year, picking up where I left before the update. Now every day I get on TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and have to find the last day I read. It’s extremely frustrating and annoying. I hope there will be improvements on the next update because finding another app to do the same thing will be difficult. PLEASE fix this please!!!!

For the second year now my wife and I both listen separately to this wonderful podcast. We are able to talk about it in the evening when we return from work. Each morning and then repeated on the drive home in the evening I really appreciate being able to spend time in the presence of God and have snippets of the Bible explained and brought into the relevance of our daily lives adding context to everything we do. There is no doubt that the words flow through my every action each day giving me a daily goal and bringing joy into my life. It enables one to appreciate the Garden of Eden in which we live here in Florida. Being British we appreciate the style of the commentary.

I have been using BIOY for several years now, but I would at times, skip days and not get caught up, unfortunately.
This year my New Year’s Resolution is to faithfully read my BIOY every single day.
I made it to day #72, and TheBiblewithNickyandPippa stopped posting the new lessons. The lessons do also come to my email, so I really haven’t missed them, but I loved following along in TheBiblewithNickyandPippa , and seeing the check marks on each of those completed lessons. It somehow gives me a sense of fulfillment to see those.

Update: I am so happy to report that my BIOY app has been working perfectly since this post. I am reading each day’s lesson with my morning coffee faithfully.

I absolutely loved the Bible in One Year App that was available LAST year. I do not care for the new version. I liked having each one separate and the opportunity to open either the Bible verses or the commentary. I also loved the circle that showed if you had completed the entire reading for the day. I hope and pray that you hear the feedback from the public and return to the old version. I never had any issues with that one and I finished the entire year! Thank you for all your hard work in putting this together. I know that TheBiblewithNickyandPippa has been a blessing to so many people!

The info about TheBiblewithNickyandPippa says that you can change the version of the plan at any time—between Classic, Express and Youth. I chose classic to start out. But found there is no menu to make any changes. So I decided to delete TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and try it again with a different level. But decided to leave a review before trying it again. I don’t know what will happen if I want to change from a different level. If it still doesn’t work. I’ll leave another review. I have been listening to the content since January 1, 2021 on the You Version Bible app. It most likely is the classic, but all of the commentary is combined into a single devotional. There are advantages to both ways—one single commentary, or intertwined between the scriptures.

Last year I couldn’t finish out the year because TheBiblewithNickyandPippa froze in November. Right when I was almost through the year. Now this year 2021 it froze again today. I lost the day of March 15th. It totally stopped at March 14th. I am devastated. I’ve sent a text to the support team to no avail. I’ve tried to delete TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and start over but I can’t even delete it off my iPhone. I truly love Nicky and Pippa, I’ve told so many people about TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and they love it and are having issues with it as well. I’ll keep trying, I’ve been praying. I’ll leave it in Gods hands now. I will try to look for another app that is similar, it will never compare but I have no choice. God Bless you Nicky and Pippa I’ll miss you.

TheBiblewithNickyandPippa was introduced to me by my pastor’s wife, Cindy Hawks. I love her!! At first I was thinking this was yet just another app that I’d have to try an cram into my already time-crunched day. Not so!!! This has been a game-changer for me. TheBiblewithNickyandPippa is the insightful app I use. When I listen I gain wisdom, knowledge, understanding along with a ever-deepening relationship with the person, Jesus Christ. And the commentary is so educational and encouraging. I’m never disappointed and always inspired to go live out what I learn. I can’t share this enough with everyone I meet. This is not simply informative but transformative. My life keeps changing. Thank you!!!

I'm a little frustrated. Its only day 6 of the new year, and I was excited to use TheBiblewithNickyandPippa to push myself to read the Bible daily-- however since day 3 I've had issues with the present day not loading (my time is sectioned out so to have it already downloadable/just THERE ready to read on TheBiblewithNickyandPippa is essential to me) but now the overall content is not loading at all. Like another user, I deleted TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and reinstalled, tried using data vs secure wifi.. nothing has allowed the content to restore. The website link has no support or contact page, and I'd just like it to be fixed so I can carry on with my commitment. If TheBiblewithNickyandPippa isn't going to be resolved, even having the breakdown of the year (chapters to read per day) as a PDF on the website would be helpful. I can follow along on my own.

It has been a goal of mine to do this, but I have never been successful using a book or reading guide. I would start well, but struggled to stick with it. Last year I thought...if only there was an app, it would be so much easier. Nicky and Pippa Gumbel have created a way to make daily Bible reading a habit in my busy life. I love that I can listen to the scripture passages & commentary while I go for a walk. I love the added commentaries that tie the Old and New Testament passages together with a focus on Jesus and what he has done for us. Thank you!!

It’s December 4th and I will finish BiOY at the end of the month. This has been a daily part of my life for a year and I don’t know what I’ll do without it. I think I may just have to do this again. I mostly do the audio every morning on the treadmill. It’s about 25 minutes starting with commentary leading into Proverbs or Psalms then commentary, New Testament, commentary in the New Testament scripture then Old Testament with commentary. A friend told me its best to start TheBiblewithNickyandPippa on 1/1 and I agree. Unless I find something else on a similar format I think I will do the again.

I love TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and use it every day. It takes me through the Bible in one year and gets me engaged in the Word. The commentary is excellent and thought provoking. I use it in conjunction with the Bible app devotion . I copy the Bible app devotion and highlight the devotion and read through the scriptures. Then I reinforce what I have learned by listening to it on TheBiblewithNickyandPippa. I listen in the car, walking, while doing chores. . . The possibilities are endless. Reading and learning the Bible will have effects that last throughout eternity.

I’m about 6 months in to reading the Bible in a year using TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and I’m more than excited! ❤️ TheBiblewithNickyandPippa makes reading the Bible in one year doable, even for someone with a busy schedule. I generally skip the commentary, but it is nice to read if you have the time. I like to read the commentary when the Old Testament reading is hard to understand because there is usually some sort of explanation. I encourage anyone thinking about using TheBiblewithNickyandPippa to go ahead and try it!

I’ve struggled for years to incorporate daily bible reading with my routine. I would start out with my one year bible in hand and before I’d know it my attention had wandered off to daily concerns. I love how TheBiblewithNickyandPippa layers in commentary and short messages with the passages and verses. This helps focus my reading and I find myself meditating on the messages throughout the day, often re-reading later in the day to refresh my memory. I’ve been recommending TheBiblewithNickyandPippa to anyone who’ll listen!!

This is the second year my husband and I have done this devotional We don’t work in the same city and this has been an awesome way to connect ( being able to talk about what we read). We love the commentaries. The year is ending and we have been searching for another bible study but cannot find an alternative that is similar to this- so we are planning on using it again - a third year in a row ( with some in-depth study of certain books). :)

I am a new Christian and have been looking for tools to help me study the Bible. I am so glad I found TheBiblewithNickyandPippa!!! I have a busy job, and have two kids so life is pretty hectic. And I found the audio function particularly useful as I can work and listen to each chapter when I have no time to sit down and read.

Have always found it hard to read the bible every day. TheBiblewithNickyandPippa solves that problem. Listen most days with her with morning coffee. Author has done a great job of curating the selections so they complement each other. Have gotten others to listen including some who have not ever been exposed to the bible.
There are a couple tech problems with app. It does not allow us to mark off days we have listened to on the others device.

I have loved TheBiblewithNickyandPippa for several years now, but I think it was the older version. It worked very well. I loved hearing Nicky and Pippa's voices taking me through the Bible every day and I liked the audio bible readings. However, when I bought a new iPad I was forced to get the newest app, which will not automatically upload the new material each day like it's supposed to. I have to delete TheBiblewithNickyandPippa and install a new one every day.

What a gift TheBiblewithNickyandPippa is. I set a goal to read the bible over the course of the year and this resource was able to help me do it! Really easy to follow, the audio commentary was so clutch some days, and it really made the task that seemed very difficult to be manageable and something I could work into my morning each day. Really can’t think Nicky and his church enough for this. Highly recommended!

I have eye problems so I love listening to the Bible and inspirational commentaries. Being able to download is great for offline listening. The only problem I’ve had is some days the new commentary won’t appear until later in the day or at night. I like to listen in the morning so I’m disappointed when I can’t listen.

I really enjoy my Bible in one year app. I have finished 2019 and would very much like to continue 2020. I finished day 5 but now it will not download day 6. I have restarted iPad, checked my WiFi connection and all is in order. What can I do to continue to get the audio version. My husband and I want to continue having our devotion time every day with Nicky and Pippa. Please help.

I used TheBiblewithNickyandPippa last year and began this year with it. However, it has not allowed me to retrieve the last several days’ messages. I have tried refreshing and reinstalling, but it will not update. I look forward to using it again once the glitch has been repaired.
