Playing It Wrong

I read a lot of these reviews and they claim “bugs” that occur but really it’s just the players not knowing what to do. Your villagers are starving because you’re not getting enough food and the game is not forgiving enough for you to make mistakes. There is no time bug where going from 2500 food to 600 food because this is an RTS that continues playing and will punish you if you don’t have it set to 0,1/2,1,2 speed (I however don’t recommend setting it to 0 at any time). This game functions perfectly fine for where it originated back in the late 2000s I believe (correct me if I’m wrong). There are your none game breaking bugs such as the dropping of food while being picked up to do something else or the fast breeding by repeatedly dropping your people on each other to skip the “going inside” feature; however, these aren’t game breaking. This is my first full review I’ve ever written on the AppStore and I have to praise this game because it is a time waster like all games, but it encompasses an RTS and the difficulty that came with older generation games. Virtual villager has its faults as it becomes a relic of the past but people have to appreciate the game for what it is and not complain difficult features as “bugs.”

P.S I finished the game after 400 hours or so. (I set my times differently so I’m not sure how long it actually took)

One of the Best Games I've Ever Played!

I love this game! It is amazing! The graphics look like their from the 90's, but it's all good. I actually kind of like that the graphics look like that. It reminds me of my childhood. The best game I've ever played is definitely Minecraft, but this game is a very close second! I've had this game for about a week, and I already deleted all my apps because all I need is this one! But still,I have some complaints. One of my villagers has already died, and he has still not been buried. Another thing is I can't find any other food source than the berry bush. My villagers are starving and I can't find any other food source and I really need you guys to fix this! Please! I like that it continues going on even when you're not playing. I switched from iPad to computer because my iPad had way too many ads and I couldn't focus on anything. Anyways, if you get this game and figure everything out report back to me. Thank you for making this game!

It’s fun, but. . .

This is one of those games where it’s fun at first but slowly just gets boring. Once you have a sustainable food stash and you’re just waiting for your tech points to build up because you have to have them in the 20,000’s it stops being fun. I suggest adding more things to do or even simpler, just make events happen more often. I get on and I drag my people to their jobs and stuff, but then I quickly get bored of sitting there and watching them. I wish I had more options or decisions to make. Like when my guy had a dream and I got to choose which way he went and there were benefits/consequences? That was awesome! It’s just that these things barley ever happen. And it costs so many tech points to make something happen. And tech points are what I’m trying to collect so I can get through the game. I don’t know if you read these or still update the game, but if you do, please make events happen more often! Thank you!

the game is great but your gonna have to pay 99 cents to actually win

update: all my villagers died on easy mode. i paid alot of attention to this game and i got all the best options for islands events but i wasnt able to sustain my population becausethe 3rd tier 100k food tech option is not reachable. You will run out of crops and berries way before you are able to afford the 3rd tier food upgrade. I had 55k tech points before i lost. Unless you pay 99 cents to get the 100k tech points to buy the fishing upgrade you wont be able to beat this game. Overall its still fun but they should have kept the tech upgrades prices the same as the PC version and just charged 99 cents for VirtualVillagers instead of having it free and the more expensive tech upgrades.

OLD REVIEW: used to play this game all the time on my laptop when i was in school. I wish it had updated graphics and scaled to my sceen especially for phones with the notch. overall it looks and plays just as you would remember.

It’s okay

It’s a very fun game! The only thing I have an idea on is the reproducing, maybe we could see them do “it” and maybe the status bars (the little sign under the sick or healthy sign) could read pregnant and minutes until baby born! That would be cool! The other bugs I’m noticing is the names, foods, and population, I harvest 200 and something food and when I take a break to play Sims, I come back to like 40 food! The name bug is the way you can’t pronounce them and repeating, I have two Lily’s and two Akan's in my tribe! And the weirdest bug is I have 6 people and then an hour break later I have 9! And NONE of the women are holding babies or even breeders! That’s just some things to consider

amazing game

i really don’t know why people are complaining. this is an awesome game, has a lot of character, and although graphics aren’t able to be compared to today’s games, i’m sure it was great when it was made. i always have something to do, whether it be reprimanding my people to keep doing their work or having the children pick up stray mushrooms. yes, in the beginning, food runs out quickly. that’s SUPPOSED to happen. you stop struggling once you get to max farming, you usually never have that issue again so long as you have a minimum of three people fishing. it’s a great game, plenty of things to do, and gives you a lot of free will. i wish the population limit was higher, for more of a struggle, but i’m happy with the game and think the developers deserve the praise 🙂.

Played on desktop to start

Then i needed to get more memory - so went to laptop. Not sure if I played on laptop but I remember having to go back & forth to get hints when I got about 3/4 through the game. Now I’m stuck on playing on a very small screened cell ( much rather have a bigger screen (!!) . 1st time tried to load game - loaded fine but it wouldn’t let me play- so I deleted VirtualVillagers . Just put it back in today ( along with the 2nd, 3rd and I will add the 4th at a later date. Have to say- much more fun with a m u c h larger screen!! Still I like the series. Only 1 issue I see so far- I think it’s the 2nd or 3rd game in the series- doesn’t give a way to exit out the game or put it on pause( so game won’t run you out good while you are not playing.

Pointless

It’s actually a bit lame, you’ll like it if you enjoy wasting moments of your life. I liked it at first but the novelty wore off quickly. There are 6 tech’s that can be upgraded 2 times. It takes a bit of time to come up with the tech points to achieve that and what you get for it is virtually nothing. Start the game and your builder starts working on a hut, takes him 3 years to build, the only thing for him to do once he finishes is clear some debris from the beach, after the construction upgrade he can remove some rocks from a blocked stream, then it’s another 100,000 tech points to find out what he’ll do next. There is practically nothing you can do to alter the pace the village grow, no option to build other things at all. It’s a big waste of time. What’s funny is that you can “ purchase “ tech points, I’m sure the people who’ve been stupid enough to do that we’re quite disappointed since it probably bought them almost no additional enjoyment in the game.

Mad

The game was fun, until the food started to run out within a matter of minutes. Both me and my friend noticed multiple bugs with food as a whole. Firstly, the food gets eaten in a matter of seconds, my friend had 700 food before going to bed and woke up to her entire village dead from hunger. I woke up to 50 food and a lot of panic. Secondly, my villagers WILL NOT farm until I am on VirtualVillagers . I will leave my phone for a few minutes, come back, and see the farmers are in the exact same spot, but time has passed. It’s hella annoying but this combo of glitches is horrendous. The villagers walk slow as all hell, and you just sit there and watch ur villagers collect food for about 30-40 minutes before you can leave VirtualVillagers or else you’re village will die. Don’t download this game. It was a good memory, but let it die. I saw a review having the same complaint from FOUR YEARS AGO.. they’ll never fix this bug. Don’t waste your time.

Great game but...

So I got this game a few days ago and I loved it the first time I played it. But as I went on and my population grew, people started dying a lot and my food started to disappear a lot. This would usually happen when I would go a half day without playing the game and I would come back to find almost all my food gone and a good amount of my perfectly healthy before villagers dead. This matter isn’t fair because most people (like myself) aren’t and don’t want to be on their phones 24/7 so some improvements that could be made are making the villagers capable of surviving up to a few days without the user without dying. All I really can say about the food problem is if I leave please only let eat about 100 max. food at a time. Great game but needs some improvements.

Awesome Game! Little annoying Problems

Great game but few problems First for people beginning food goes down fast. But for me that isn’t a problem you just need most villagers at research table to get more search points. Secondly It would be good to see what generation your on and see your family tree. Really good game and for you beginners focus all your points on food. Another problem is In one of the events it says villager finds a book I usually pick yes read, and then to goes somewhere never to be seen again I just don’t get it I don’t see anywhere else except the beach area so I have no idea where they could of gone. It would be awesome if last day of work added Animal hunting and maybe a forest to enter.
Anyway Here’s my review Try to fix stuff last day of work I’m out.

Only Fun For A Day

In the beginning, it's super fun. Maybe that's why they hound you for a review so early on. Very quickly you learn that to do ANYTHING you have to constantly earn higher and higher numbers of tech points to buy levels of skills. If you could earn farming tech points for all your farming, or building tech points for your building (and just have the research table for general tech points that could be assigned anywhere) that would be great, but no. So you end up having 30 people crowded around the research table, with a couple people assigned to the other jobs, just so every couple days you can buy a level in some skill that is required to do the next puzzle. This game is like 10% actually doing new stuff and 90% leaving the village to research. I finished it, but it was so boring by the end. Deleting immediately.

Amazing game, but...

I kind of don't like how the game keeps going, especially at night, because I can't check on my villagers when I'm sleeping for 8 hours, and the same thing with school, or visiting a friend's house. If you could add a pause button, or pause the game when it turns, like, 8 PM, that'd be great! :) Also, I've noticed this food bug where my food disappears when I'm not on the game? Anyway, this is still such an amazing game, and I absolutely love it! But if you could fix a few things, that would make the game even better than amazing.

Still fun!

I’ve been playing this game since before it was available for iPhones. It can be a little slow paced compared to other new games but I still find myself coming back to it like an old comfortable friend. It’s a good game when you just want to relax and chill out. It’s been a long while since the last virtual villagers game came out and I hope the developers will consider either updating some of the existing versions to add more items or create another virtual villagers game. I believe a new one would be VV6.

Love it!

I love this game. It’s simple, but it takes time. Something I am working on is getting all of my villagers to max in all skills so when one doesn’t have anything to do I can just send them to do something else without having to put them on the task a few times before they start. It also gives me something to do while waiting for my tech points to pile up. As for the food I like to keep 2-3 of my villagers constantly on farming so I have a constant supply of food. It helps while I’m offline because the field keeps producing food.

Insulting people with autism

On this game it popped up an unusual child that doesn’t like normal childhood thing that unusual and trouble and don’t know what to do with him.
This popped up on my game. I know exactly what this is insinuating. This is VERY offensive to me and the autistic community. Being a parent of a child with autism I picked up on this instantly. How dare you. You are part of the problem!! You are poisoning the mind of people to make them think people who are different are “troubled and unusual” and “they don’t know what to do with them”. I will continue to post about this until someone reaches out to me. This is utterly ridiculous for you to think this was any type of appropriate. People who are different are NOT “unusual and troubled”. Just shocked at the amount of disrespect.

Love it!

Wow this game is simple and easy to operate; I love it. The only thing I wish that they would include is a “what am I supposed to do list“ more of how do I do what I’m supposed to do. LOL
There are several tests to complete and while they sound simple figuring out how to do it is the challenging part; however, when you think about it, if you were one of the villagers living there it would be complicated to try to figure out how to do some of the task required. So that is why I say it is a great game regardless!

Glitching?

1. I would like to say to all those complaining of not having enough food sources- you have to get tech points from research then use them to upgrade farming. After that you can grow a garden if you have uncovered your well.

2. My game has restarted on its own 4-5 times. The first time I thought I did it by accident, until I purposely restarted it once and saw you have to hit a second button to make sure you want to start over. Every time after that I KNOW I did not restart. This is in the matter of 2 days. Would LOVE to play and give 5 stars, but can’t do that when I’m getting kicked back after minimal game play each time. I’m bummed.

Love, but food bug

I had a LOT of food, approximately 2500, and after an hour there was 640 left... Help please! Otherwise I absolutely love. But all my villagers will die bc there is no food no matter how much i leave them with. This game is completely free and the only virtual villagers game where you can have as many villagers as you'd like for free. Great game.
TIP: Buy upgraded food farm from nature, or else all your villagers will die bc the berry bush does not provide enough and takes forever to grow again.
TIP: To turn the large hut into a school, have a master scientist and drag them over it. The children will then be born with knowledge.

Okay so someone wrote to turn the clock ahead an hour and go back to the game:
My field was ready and a nursing mother had finished, but my food went down 500. BUT, unblocking the stream, which I was at 5%, is now at 43%. Depends what ur looking for, I guess

Perfect! Except...

I really love this game. I played it on my PC all the time. It was my "must have" game. The only problem I'm noticing is with my food. I will have a lot of food, maybe around 200 and I'll leave my phone sit and it'll turn black, or I'll open my messages to send a message, and when I get back to the game, I'll have anywhere from 50-0 food left. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I do go from 100 food to none in about 20 seconds and I'm not exaggerating. I never see my villagers eat at will, and this problem has caused, I believe, four almost five villagers to die. I don't have any 'of age' women to reproduce so if this is a bug, I really need this fixed to help my village strive! This is the only reason I'm giving it four stars because this has happened for a few days. For the first three days I've had VirtualVillagers on my phone, this hasn't happened and it never happened on my PC so, please fix if it is a bug! I'm not entirely sure but I'm just making sure! Thanks!
