So far, so good!

I downloaded DictionaryandThesaurusPro today based on the 4 & 5 star reviews posted. So far, it looks promising. It’s too bad the annoying pop-up asked me to rate and review it even though I have not had nearly enough time to discover all of the features! Hopefully, it won’t prompt me again. Ever. Maybe this was a clever way to get a good review before I’ve had time to form an opinion (NOT!). Anyway😊, after an hour of use, it appears to be a fairly comprehensive dictionary and thesaurus. Personally, I can do without all of the extra bells and whistles but, thankfully, the developers were thoughtful enough to give us customization options in Settings. I really like the offline dictionary feature and I may end up liking certain others when I have had a chance to review them. I subtracted 1 star simply due to the rate/review pop-up appearing as I was in the middle of reading the results of a search and this was only an hour after downloading DictionaryandThesaurusPro . One suggestion: offer a “bundle” price point since there are so many different products in the line. Final thought: IMHO, it’s worth the 4 bucks. 👍

Uncommonly good

I used to work as an editor and have something of a fetish for dictionaries. The two highest compliments I can pay to any dictionary — either electronic or dead tree — are these: (1) I use it multiple times per day, and (2) I find myself browsing for the pure fun of it. (Fellow dictionary lovers will know what I mean.) Farlex's wins on both counts. Comprehensive, compiled from reliable sources (e.g. Webster's, Roget's), quick and simple interface — already these set it apart from many others. In addition, it provides accurate etymologies, a generous thesaurus, a fine assortment of dictionaries in other languages, and surprisingly good translations. The offline mode is particularly welcome. I haven't explored its many other features, but these are enough to set it apart. Not only is this the best dictionary app I've ever tried, it's one of the most useful reference apps of any kind. Full marks!

THE MAGIC MARKER

I absolutely love this Dictionary! It not only has singular word definitions, but also various phrases! I also appreciate that it offers ideas for words in which you may not quite be sure of the correct spelling. And then there are all of the various related Dictionaries that are offered to compliment the main one!
I love the choices in the many styles of the word such as the Thesaurus, old and the new, and the opposite of the word, it’s absolutely perfect for me as I write a lot of poetry. And the option to choose the settings for your home page just tops it off by offering so many ways to increase one’s vocabulary and keep your score! How marvelous for those like myself who love learning new words and expand my knowledge!
Thank you again for such a fantastic set of Dictionaries to have at my fingertips.

Great App!

This is the dest app wen it comes to testing ur vocabulary overall! Sign up and allow it to give you daily informant. The best part about this is that it will test your intelligence, the longer you don’t respond the more elementary the worlds become to the point where you feel like “oh my God “I know I know this word. why is this for me and then insult 2 my talent, but it says you’re not engage so why should I expect you that I have gained or more probably or less? A point where you have no control anymore and that’s the most amazing part of it. It actually tells you how smart of a person you are by holding onto information you already have and then being willing to build on it. Can’t want that more!

Fantastic reference tool which is accessible with VoiceOver

This is one of the most awesome dictionary apps out there, and does wonders especially if you’re online and have Internet access. It is also accessible with VoiceOver, Apple’s screen reader for the visually impaired. However, I can’t figure out how to use the audio pronunciation feature with VoiceOver. Furthermore, DictionaryandThesaurusPro has a couple of unlabeled buttons at the bottom of the application window. I also suggest that DictionaryandThesaurusPro be updated in a way that it can use the latest revisions made to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English language. Currently DictionaryandThesaurusPro uses a slightly older revision of AHD 5. I wholeheartedly recommend DictionaryandThesaurusPro to anyone who has a vested interest in English.

Extremely useful, high-quality tool

Don't waste money on any related App: The Free Dictionary by Farlex excels in quality, content, & efficiency of use! I frequently use DictionaryandThesaurusPro, namely the Thesaurus, while composing important documents involving research. Personally, compositions are initially composed via pen & paper, versus electronic means. Such structured format allows an increasingly thought-driven process. DictionaryandThesaurusPro is truly a purposeful tool. Others have been sampled, yet EACH has been deleted. Trust me: This is the only one you need! Dependably so, The Free Dictionary proves to be a useful tool upon each attempt!

👎🏼Went from 5 to zero😩

Used to LOVE this Dictionary and I am a true reference type nerd. I rely on Thesauri to select precise meanings as well as expand my vocabulary. Well, I guess Farley won’t be such a reliable resource for that anymore.

The lay-out looks entirely different than it used to. It’s quite underwhelming. It used to have a robust offering of different parts of speech: definition, antonyms, synonyms, thesaurus, legal, medical, etc. And, if that wasn’t enough, there was even the option of clicking on alternative versions for similar information. How great is that for folks who can’t get enough detail?

Now it has a paltry definition and a few entries for thesaurus. I mean, what’s the point? To think I paid for this “pro” version! What’s the point? I see this as an IT company that got lazy. At least I’ll conserve space by deleting DictionaryandThesaurusPro .

A few glitches

When you upgrade, it looks like an entirely different app, judging by the second icon created on the screen. That’s new in my experience. The pro version has a golden + sign in the upper right corner. I deleted the other app, or icon, not really sure why you’d want the free icon to be on your screen after you paid for the pro version. Somehow I needed to turn off my content blocker to accomplish this task. I would like to update this review to 5 stars, hopefully those issues will be addressed in an update. I really like DictionaryandThesaurusPro , but those things are a little bizarre to me.

Outstanding application

I have used the Farlex Free Dictionary for years. It is not only enjoyable, but of great assistance when researching the definition or synonym of a word. I love that you can also hear it pronounced correctly in its American usage or in the way the British speak it.
I enjoy the games, and also the word of the day, various articles regarding historical events that occurred in the present day.
I actually use this dictionary every day and did upgrade to pro for delving into the dictionaries of many languages.

I love this app, only use it, & daily!!

I love DictionaryandThesaurusPro because it's very broad and engaging. It really helps with learning the words. I love the point system also. It keeps me engaged. DictionaryandThesaurusPro has helped me greatly. I’ve been using this it first came out years ago. I think I remember paying for a premium version (around $5.99) because I no longer have ads.

I highly recommend it. It has become very fave. It sits on my home screen and I’ve deleted all other dictionaries app, yup!! This one is enough.

If it were a book, the pages would be worn!

I’ve developed a genuine mental affection for DictionaryandThesaurusPro because I refer to it most days multiple times. From it I clarify the meaning of words that I’m reading or want to write, the correct pronunciation for speaking, and the usage as a part of speech. DictionaryandThesaurusPro keeps me sharp and continually learning. I enjoy the word of the day and the other interesting postings. Actually, I believe this is my most used app, at least on par with checking the weather and transportation maps/times/and routes.

My Go-To-First Dictionary

The title says it all. For whatever reason that I need to consult a dictionary, whether writing a paper, needing to hear the word pronounced, working on my book, curious about a term, checking my spelling on a word, spell check or Siri doesn't understand, to even having a few minutes to relax and play word games, check the quote of the day or learn new words and their usage, this dictionary is my "Go-To-First" choice! Hands down the best dictionary on the web. Plus it's fun to use. \0/ Thumbs up...the best!

Way beyond the expected!

DictionaryandThesaurusPro is an amazing dictionary, comprehensive, thorough, and well organized. Plus it is so much more! It also includes translations into other languages, a thesaurus, medical and legal dictionaries, acronyms, and access to other resources such as Wikipedia. It adds fun ways to learn and play with language for those who like that. sort of thing—you can even organize your personal home page for this. I have tried other dictionary apps and nothing else comes close!

Love It!

I keep several dictionary apps because they all have different ideas on the best and shortest ways to describe a word and I’m usually wanting for more detail. DictionaryandThesaurusPro seems to have a more detailed description word description with its use along with synonyms. DictionaryandThesaurusPro is laid out logically and nearly removes my need for other dictionaries. However, I think I’ll keep my Latin, medical and law dictionaries for their unique and specialized information.

Favorite dictionary, etc, but...

Every time I change phones or buy a tablet or get a new PC, I have to spend another 3.99 for access to the pro version. The ads are annoying, so I choke and buy. The offline is very nice, so I choke and buy. Having multiple dictionaries with one app is the cat's meow, so I choke and buy, etc. Must be the way TFD makes (more) $ or £, whatever, it's worth the 4 bucks, but it is becoming really annoying, plus finding TFD to complain is a hassle, if one can find it at all. I did once, years ago, so I suspect they made it harder. Grrrrr

Super fun to learn new words and interesting facts

I love DictionaryandThesaurusPro. I am constantly trying to expand my vocabulary for business, & personal reasons. With the alert "word of the day" I can't help but make it a daily habit. Plus the other info is sorta like a fun "mind break"during my day when my days can be painfully intense. It is a reward after completing a task. Try it- you won't like it...you will love it if you like learning.

Offline mode - online mode

I use this on the job on my iPad Pro. Overall very good except for one thing. I frequently am in and out of wi-fi in meetings where I use DictionaryandThesaurusPro. Unfortunately, DictionaryandThesaurusPro does not automatically switch between the two conditions requiring the user to tap into the settings, which is cumbersome. Also, the offline mode has a different visual interface that is harder to grasp. It seems the offline mode has fewer entries as well but that may just be my perception.

Well-spent $4

This is the first app I have ever purchased from DictionaryandThesaurusPro Store and I definitely made the right choice
Definitely on this more than social media plus I learn a lot just browsing through the search results while any word I hear that I don’t know the meaning of straight to DictionaryandThesaurusPro is got my back plus the scratch😉
Kudos to the developers

Extraordinary/Extraordinaire!

I use this marvelous app mainly as a French/English dictionary or as simply a French dictionary, and it's very rarely that I need to check any other since this one draws on all definitions from several centuries past up to the present. Today, with the addition of do-it-yourself FLASHCARDS, it has become an unbelievably useful learning tool for when I'm reading French. Bravo et merci mille fois, les amis!
