I do not agree with the premise that the "unwilling to work" is not applicable.
Check the numbers on how many are on welfare, unemployment or filing for disability. Not too long ago, people would be ashamed of taking charity (especially, forced charity, through higher taxes on others) when they are capable of providing for themselves.
We, as a people, should provide for the truly unable but, those who are able, should provide for themselves and their families. Yes, I understand the spiritual aspect of today's devotion however, do you understand the reality of the laziness of some people, willing to be a drain on society. Work and eat, do not, and don't. I base my opinions on the two years that I and my wife supported one of the ones I speak of, waiting and praying for the day that they provided for themselves. It never arrived. Are we helping or enabling? Teach them to fish.
