Both my partner and I started tracking with snocru on our Apple Watches the other day. Both of our watches showed the full days’ stats (# of runs, total distance, etc.), but after ending tracking and syncing to our phones, our days were truncated with no error or explanation. My data ended after about 3 runs; my partners’ partway through the first. So SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking showed a much shorter day, and absolutely no data after the truncation point. But the watch had clearly tracked and counted the full day. I cannot recommend an app that silently loses the data it is intended to capture.

This is a cool app, but at $5 a month every month during the summer when you are not skiing, it is way too expensive. I optimistically paid for the annual pass, which is a better deal if SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking serves your needs, hoping to get a bunch of people to download and use SNOCRU . The real challenge is to get enough friends to turn it on and use it, even inviting my singles race club (50 members) to use it I did not get enough (4 did) on SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking to get the expected community benefit. After evangelizing SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking for 2 years, I will not talk it up this next season. I love the idea, and SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking is pretty cool, but the business model is a fail for me at the monthly billed price (if more skiers used it or the monthly billing price was equal to the annual up front price it might work). FB and other community apps get that “offer free apps and sell users data”, is the only way to get critical mass. When I Open SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking at Vail and only see 5 users in the week after Christmas the idea that people will pay $5/month for a glorified Epic app is not sustainable. Cross mountain value is limited. Don’t waste your cash here as most of your friends might keep SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking over the summer. If they see the $5/month charge they I’ll stop payment and possibly delete it. And when you ask them to use it again next year they will laugh.
Good luck and happy shredding.

Current snocru is disappointing: far too many popups and distractions, so that simply tracking your ski route is compromised. Getting app to track for an entire day is problematic since route tracking can get paused during popups and other interruptions
Well used snocru for 4 days and only once did it give me a full day. It either stopped prematurely or deleted when I didn’t upgrade.
Will look for an alternative and would gladly pay as long as it is not snocru!

This is a good tracking app. I tried the free version for several weeks before updating to the paid subscription. It has some issues CONS 1) used to look up resorts and track resorts based on location. Since I upgraded to the paid version it won’t even search for a resort and find it if I type it in. Much less recommend the location to check into based on my current location. 2)It’s really easy to accidentally close SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking if you try to open another app and it will stop tracking. Also if you pause tracking its too easy to accidentally end the tracking all together. No warning asking “Are you sure you want to end the track” 3) No summary stats of total resorts skied, total days skied, total vert, etc. just each individual track. 4) The cru setup to track your group is wonky and difficult to use. Every person has to set it up then join the crew, it seems buggy sometimes doesn’t show folks nice idea but it’s much better as a single tracker than for group communication. 5)can’t add resorts or check in dates after the fact so the bug not allowing you to find a resort and track with the resort doesn’t allow you to get any of the data corrected in the future. If it’s not working your just hosed.
PROS: 1)it’s good at basic tracking and it’s easier on battery life than some others. 2) I paired it with the ski Utah app to get summary annual stats - but should not have had too. It should have been part of SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking.

My 4 friends and i tried to use this to sync during a ski trip. The user interface is inconsistent and unintuitive, and we struggled to friend eachother, whoch should have been easy. SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking seemed to track our movements, but it failed to show me where my friends were, or what routes/times they completed, so to keep track we all used google maps location sharing instead. My friend and i were together all day, and SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking showed him completing 22 runs and me completing 10. What’s up with that?
I thought the resort map overlay was cool. I could really use it the way i wanted because, again, the user interface is pretty difficult to understand.

Three of us tried to use SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking and the account formation is screwed up and won’t recognize our accounts. We were able to use SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking and track runs, but SNOCRU says we still don’t have accounts, which means we can’t add each other to our CRU. Extremely frustrating. I set up an account twice using my phone number and a third time using my email address. All three times it said I created an account, but if I log out and try and log in or recover a password it doesn’t recognize my email or phone number. Yet when I create a new account, my previous tracked run is still there.

This would be a fantastic app. I’ve used it to track groups that I take on ski trips. However, it’s not worth the amount of annoying ads, upgrade prompts, or the year-long $5 per month charge for only a couple of trips per year. This seems like a poor business plan for an app that is only relevant for a few months out of the year. I’m looking elsewhere.

Overall, this is a well designed app, however if it is tracking you are after, there are much better options that are more accurate.
What sets SnowCRU apart is its DayCRU function. I run group ski tours and the leaderboard functionality offered by DayCRU is unique to SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking, however using it is very difficult. You have to set up the DayCRU, which is easy, but then you need to invite the people yourself. If they made it where people can search for the DayCRU and join themselves, while allowing the creator to approve members instead of having to invite them, it would be much more user friendly. I hope they make this change in the future, otherwise it is an average ski tracker.

I am having the exact same problem as Ash471 on Dec 9. I created accounts for my husband and son and I cannot add them to a Cru or Daycru. I’ve tried adding the the other two people on each device and it makes no difference which device I use. It also keeps saying to create an account on my husbands phone even though it accepts and shows the information each time I recreate the account
Also on my phone SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking says update available, but when it takes me to
SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking Store there is no update, just the open button

I can never remember to start and stop the tracker. Why can’t it automatically start when you get to a known lift and terminate when you are a specified distance from the resort. At very least, let me edit the track so my ride home doesn’t screw up my statistics!
I upped my review to 3 stars because the developer responded, but I’d give it 4 or 5 if I could edit my track to eliminate my ride home messing with statistics! I hear I can possibly start it using Siri proximity triggers!

I have had nothing but issues with data tracking and transfer data since using SnoCru (paid version) on Apple Watch. After reading cpcowart’s review, I noticed I wasn’t the only one experiencing these issues. Using the watchOS app, I realized my data would be lost after receiving Apple fitness notifications. I’ve reached out to SnoCru regarding this issue in the past, but have seen no changes in performance.

There's a lot to like about Snocru especially the tracking feature, which is my favorite. The stats were always good, but now the accuracy is even better. SnoCru is visually beautiful and easy to use...tracking my info, checking where my cru is on mt, maps, altitude. Love the conversational writing style. Always been my go to ski app & and always will be. Off to ski now!

I love SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking! It’s the best of them all - it’s easy to use, especially outdoors, and unlike many of the others, it won’t lose your data. I love tracking my vertical each day, tracking speed and staying in touch with my friends, wherever they are! It’s changed my skiing experience!

If you like skiing and snowboarding, SnoCru is the one app you need for everything on the mountain. I use SNOCRUSkiingSnowTracking for tracking my runs, vertical, and speed. In addition, it’s great to find/track my friends on the mountains. Plus, my friends and I always use the leader board to see who’s the king/queen of the mountain!
