No “how to” instruction and this is advanced music reading

This is the sister app to the blue outlined one. The blue is beginner and this red one is advanced. They should really be labeled as such. The blue one is excellent, includes instructions and appropriate feedback. This red one has lots of levels that I can assume are helpful for advanced music reading - but there is no instruction anywhere in PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic .
Nope!

Thought PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic was going to help me learn to read music! No instructions at all! And you have to hit random keys and that makes a sound. Does nothing to help you figure out what the notes mean.

It only tells you the notes and doesn’t show you how to play them. Don’t waste your money.
Not Enjoyable, but educational.

It was very hard to read. I prefer the blue-colored app basically because it doesn’t stress me out. I do not like it. But, I learnt from PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic too.
Background: I am a total piano/music reading n00b at age 55. PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic is fun, frustrating, and very helpful, all at the same time.
Some sort of explanation of the different games, levels, etc. would be VERY welcome. For example, why do I get a frownie face with 87% accuracy one time, and a smiley the next time? And what order should I try the games in, or should I rotate?
If you are starting from scratch as I did, make sure you know (or can figure out) the locations of the notes (letters vs. keys) on the piano before attempting PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic...start with the easier app by the same folks, and/or have a cheat sheet handy. (You can get an excellent, large, printable free chart of the notes & piano keys at dummies dot com.)
I highly recommend PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic; it is a bargain, and, most importantly, it will help you learn to read music. With some instructions, it would be just about perfect.
App is good

But sometimes notes is not sound clear, and first melody when app start is playing without main sound off or not. If I don't like to hear voice, it's not good. Also a good solution no just choice notes, but play simple melody (and play this melody before start training) for children's more interesting to go follow melody.
Piano after 20 years

I’m returning to piano after a long hiatus. I was an intermediate level player, but after 20 years I’ve forgotten many ledger notes. This is a great way to resurrect and reinforce note identification!

I have never given a review before. This is not because I don't have any apps. I have more than enough. But this application for beginning to intermediate music students is excellent. I only gave 4 stars because I have not had the opportunity to even begin to use all of the different levels. This is truly a five star application. The only thing I hope they add is training modules for the different chords . People more familiar than myself know what I mean when talking about the "wheel of chords". It would be great if they had the different inversions e.g. C major...CEG-EGC-GCE. The truth of the matter is that PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic may have it already but I do not think they do. If not it is a really easy fix and if enough people request I am sure they will. At that point PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic would be an all in one. Just like they advertise over time PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic accomplishes automatic recognition of key rather than memorization and it goes about this in a manner that is fun, challenging and more interesting than old school. I could go on and on but enough said I love PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic.
Better than expected

Just paid 99 cents for PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic. Initially I thought I'd be wasting it but to my surprise it has a nice format for learning. I eventually want to be able to read sheet music so I can start to learn an instrument . Also, as stupid as it may sound , I sometimes need a goal like an end point or score to achieve in order to stay focused when learning something as dry as sheet music. The game format helps me stay attached but unlike other games I'm benefitting from this particular attachment.
A great app for me, everything I wanted in practicing the notes.

I took piano lessons when in 4th grade, learned the meaning of the notation and played some basic songs like "lightly row". Moved on from piano lessons but kept up my love affair with the keyboard preferring to play by ear and becoming so good that most of my adult jobs have involved this skill. Knowing that not everyone can play by ear, but everyone can learn to read, I thought it time to bear down and get fluent in reading music. I was thrilled to find and more thrilled to begin using this perfect app. Learning as a game is always best. In two days I am well on my way to marrying my skill in piano with the notes that have huddled in the wings waiting to become part of my skill set. Thank for this simple and powerful app!!
Enjoy it

I checked about 6 apps (actually paid a fee) before I found what I needed. I am improving my music reading skills very rapidly. Many apps will only have you relate the notes with their name which is not very helpful for playing on an instrument. Totally worth .99 and even more. Please continue developing to include tunes, instructions, and note guides for those who are not familiar with them at all and need a hand starting.
So far so good

I wanted to brush up on my music theory and this is a great place to start!
Extremely helpful with practicing sight reading. It’s perfect for anyone who wants some extra practice with reading notes.
Best app ever for learning to read notes

I have hundreds (thousands?) of apps and this by far is the the best piano related app that I have found for learning to read notes. I especially like the timer mode. The levels get more difficult, additng new key signatures and accidentals. Thanks so much for PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic- I am coming along in my note reading much faster now that I am using this one..
Please update the app for real piano

This piano notes app is wonderful. Its just what I was looking for. Is there any chance that you update PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic to do the next? I put the ipad on the real piano, the note pops in the ipad screen and then i have to play the note in the piano, your app listen the played note with the embeded microphone of the ipad and then PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic rate if you played the right or the wrong note... Can you do this? Hope yes... Congrats sorry for my english
A great start!

“Piano Notes!” shows you about an octave and a half of keyboard at a time. Sometimes treble clef and sometimes bass clef. It progresses into accidentals and key signatures. The keyboard gives you a “middle c” reference. When you see a note on the staff, you must press the correct key – not just the correct name, but also in the correct octave. It does more. Very clear. Graphics look good on iPad and iPhone. I bought this to help my granddaughter. My experience: professional (reading) musician for over 40 years.

I am an adult learning to play the piano. PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic is a tremendous aid in learning the corresponding note-key relationship. The instant feedback is like having a personal tutor. Success in fluency comes from acquiring both speed and accuracy, and PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic helps the student achieve both. A minor quirk... I would, however, like a little more explanation or clarification on the menu controls (what do the "switch", "recycle" and "clock" represent?).
For years I've struggled with my sight reading and I always thought I had little musical aptitude, but since getting this program a few days ago, I've been astounded at how much easier music reading is. I've spent so much time trying to memorize which notes correspond to each line, to very little effect, but the simple interface and straightforward approach of this program has really helped me learn to read music. I generally spend five minutes with the program a few times throughout the day, and that kind of short but frequent repetition makes a huge difference. I wish I'd had something like this when I started playing music in middle school band!
Loving it!

I'm finally, after 62 years, getting to learn piano and to read music. This little app is way easier for me to use than paper in learning to read music/memorize notes locations, especially because I don't have the piano with me when traveling and I don't need to bring anything along except my phone.
I am figuring out as I learn the notes that the way to get happy faces is not just to get 100% - PianoNotesLearnToReadMusic seems to know how long it takes me to figure out each note. So speed seems to be rewarded, which makes me want to practice more (so the more I do it I'm truly learning to know the notes rather than having to calculate each one as in Every Good Boy...) I am loving having this always with me.
