This may be a great app BUT, I’ll never know because you have to start with the free one month trial before anything. We all know how that goes. If you fail to cancel then BAM! $10 bucks a month until you cancel. I suspected that would happen but I thought I’d take a chance because the “in-app purchases” menu in the App Store showed an option for “3rd grade lifetime for $9.99”. Not that I was gonna do that but I wanted to actually see if it was in fact an option. Maybe it is, but like I said, you gotta do the free trial to get anywhere in this app. I stopped buying apps a long time ago when things moved to subscriptions. This was a stab just to see if anybody was still allowing one time purchases. As suspected it was a classic bait and switch. I guess they’re happy though because they at least got my email and age now so they can sell my info and continue to bombard me with spam long after I’ve deleted the app as soon as I’m done writing this review.

Heads up, this is a “free trial that goes into auto payment” after a week. You have to make an effort to “cancel” within 24 hours of the renewal automatically beginning in order to not be charged. That’s a very recuse and small window with a purpose most parents will forget and they make their money no matter of you intended on keeping the ap or not. I want to help my kid learn and practice their math, not add yet another thing into my calendar to watch and “catch” in time to not incur fees. Ain’t no one got time for that. Deleted before even beginning the “free trial” and wanted to give other parents a heads up. If you want something free, really free, this is not for you. Keep searching.

This is a review of the service, not the app itself. Splash Math’s “free trial” and “cancel anytime” is untrue. If you don’t cancel 24-hours *prior* to the end of the trial period, they will charge you $60 for a year’s subscription. And “cancel anytime” actually means you can cancel your RENEWAL, but not the year’s subscription you just paid for. If you email them, they tell you that they cannot authorize a refund through Apple/iTunes and to contact Apple directly. Apple won’t refund either. It’s just splash maths way of passing the buck. Disappointed in the customer service, and in myself for not reading all of the teeny tiny fine print. No more Splash Math products for me.
