nice app

seems like MemphisChessClub hasnt really been updated since ipad 1. same issues exist and same mistakes. the solver has not worked on many problems since Ipad 1, and now in the ipad air 2 era the same issue exist. You are given a puzzle, you cant find the answer so you decide to ask the solver for the solution, only to have the solver tell it cant be solved. so you waste time solving a puzzle with out a solution. Not just a few puzzles but many puzzles. Also many are wrong. also many puzzles will say mate in something but if you enter it into a chess engine the mate is in a different number. They need to stop selling MemphisChessClub which has had the same problems since ipad 1 until its corrected and they should check their puzzles with a chess engine that is legit.

2stars only because it’s free!

Abrupt quits are frequent, and the solver can’t produce hints or solutions for any of the mate-in-7 problems. So it’s good for all the problems up to mate in 6, which is good enough practice. It’s entirely possible that more powerful iPhones will support MemphisChessClub completely, so if you have an 8 or higher give it a try!

Great little program, but...

I found all the problems entertaining. I found a number of alternate and quicker solutions to a few problems, but two of the problems had no solutions or were presented improperly (for instance black to play, instead of white to play)

Great

I'm a pretty good player but on a leisure level. I begin to find these challenging at mate in 4 and then of course progressively harder. I'm sure some are wrong Etc like pointed out by a seemingly very thorough reviewer but for me it all makes sense. The layout is the same as the "Champions" app also recommended. I also recommend Puzzle Hero.
Have fun

Fantastic but delay or lack of delay gives away correct move

Wonderful but if you make the correct move, opponents piece moves right away. If you make an incorrect move, there’s a decent delay indicating you made the wrong move. A good solution would just be random delays added to correct moves.

Most realistic chess puzzle app

These are not “artificial puzzles “ but taken from real games. You can buy a book of puzzles from real games, but this beats them all!

Money well spent

The limitations on moves will force you to see new possibilities on the board. It's true that these mates can be solved with more moves, but learning to creatively work yourself out of dire situations is priceless

Entertaining and you get better

It's a fun game to play and it massively improves your situational awareness and playing. When I started I could barely see the "2 moves ahead" mates and now I'm at 4.

Love it!

I'm trying to get better at chess and these puzzles are great exercises. The options that are given in MemphisChessClub also helps tremendously. World champs is better though, it's more challenging.

Good checkmate puzzles

Good interface, plenty of puzzles...some options are vague though and some puzzles have been proven unsolvable with modern computers. Still, overall this is a good way to practice mating patterns on the go.

Really love this app

I have their other app 'Champs'. Both are really great. You gain an appreciation for what checkmate really means--and the importance of forcing you opponent into vulnerable positions. I'm assuming MemphisChessClub is best for beginner/intermediate players, but masters may enjoy the fact that your speed is timed.

Thanks for making this!

Great!

I do a lot of tactics training on various websites and one specific app. These tactics are superior without question! The other tactics are usually computer generated. If you look at those other tactical puzzles you'll realize that you are being trained on tactics that you will almost never use because the average player who needs a tactic trainer to move up the class D and C levels won't be playing opponents who put themselves in such positions. Kudos to the Memphis CC for all the work it took to record, compile, and produce the material so this book and app could be created! :-) Keep 'em coming!!

Great practice in thinking ahead

I especially like the problems where you have to find the checkmate in three or four moves ahead. It gives me much needed practice in visualizing what the board will look like depending on which decision I make

Excellent!

I like these much better than 'composed' problems, as these are based on actual games. There are some, however, which, after I've given up, the iPhone is unable to solve and displays a message to that effect, and when I play through the text solution, the problem makes no sense - lots of unforced moves and plenty of ways to avoid mate within the given number of moves. Other than that, this, together with the other set of puzzles from MCC, is great. I'm up to about 60% success with mate in six, which seemed impossible when I started. Many hours of enjoyment, highly recommended!

Great

Good

Lots of fun

MemphisChessClub is a lot of fun!

A must have app for everyone who is interested in Chess

It's fun, it's knowledge, it's learning,

Great value!

The amount of value in MemphisChessClub is quite high. I do like the verisimilitude of the positions.

Good practice

These nice little challenges help me improve my game. A good mixture for me of easy and hard chess puzzles.

Love it!!

Since I have been playing , I've noticed that my reaction and recognition skills have greatly increased. Highly recommend!
