WKRG Weather Reviews

The new version of the WKRG weather app is horrendous. It is so awful in fact, that I might dare say it is a crime against humanity. I have never found myself leaving reviews on apps, but the chasm between what WKRGWeather is in terms of quality now, versus what it was for the years that I used it prior, is vast. The new version is clunky. The new version crashes. The new radar is clunky. There’s too much going on. The simplicity of swiping through my few options was sufficient for me and I reckon for many others based on these reviews. The new map is way too bright. Defeats the purpose of the Doppler pickups contrasting the map. I suggest asking Alan Sealls what he thinks you should do.

The update has left WKRGWeather completely useless!! The radar map is horrible! The time goes too fast to be able to tell anything when looking at the radar. It’s blurry to the point you can’t see it well!! Please go back to the old version!!!!! (Miss Alan Seales)

Hate the new version. Deleted it. Why didn't you leave it alone? It deserves 0 stars but I had to pick one. Plus on WKRGWeather, the icons that show locations are too big. Just a dot would be sufficient

New app is lacking the best features of the old one. The radar is basic like other apps that I avoided, there’s no dark mode for radar, and it isn’t as sharp or clear as before. WKRGWeather is also way too slow to load. Big misstep in switching app developers.

I don’t generally leave reviews of apps. I am doing this with hope that WKRG will recognize the less than user friendly update for their weather app and correct it. I hate to say I liked the old app because I do think it needed updating but this is terrible.

This used to be my go to weather app...not since the horrible update a couple of months ago. It’s terrible and completely unhelpful. I always used to use WKRGWeather for weather checking before using TWC. Deleting your app as soon as I submit this review.

Once again someone felt that they had to fix what wasn’t broken. This used to be a great app, after the redesign it’s terrible and load times are horrible. Strongly recommend using a different weather app as this is now slow, hard to navigate and way to busy.

Do not like the new app. Radar doesn’t show my exact location like the old one. And no hourly forecast. Used the old app all the time. Will go back to the weather channel if changes are not made. Why did you mess up what worked?

Horrible! Why would you change it from a well functioning and easy to navigate app to this!?
I understand wanting a new look to WKRGWeather but you sacrificed the entire interface and usability. In return we get a crap app with pictures of the weather team. Not to mention I’m hammered with constant adds now.

The updated version of WKRGWeather is not as good as the old version. It loads faster but there are less radar features, no hourly forecast, and way too much information. Most of the time WKRGWeather is choppy at best. If I wanted the news instead of the weather, I would’ve installed the WKRG News app instead of the weather app. I’m uninstalling and moving on.

I used to love WKRGWeather, especially the radar feature.
The new update did not improve much of anything. Upon opening WKRGWeather , there are so many things to look at, it hard to focus. It’s “too busy”.
The old radar used to have a feature that would run the radar into the future. The new one supposedly does too, but I can’t get it to work. I may be deleting WKRGWeather.
They should have left it alone.

If i wanted to see everything else going on I would go on the website. The weather app is for weather only. The new layout is crap

I have been using the old app at least a doz times a day for 6 years. I cannot understand this one at all. As far as I am concerned it is useless. Fancy is not better. Please bring back the old & simple!!!!
I’ve been using it at least a dz. times a day since you changed to this new one. I still don't like it. It says 4&up. Guess I’m too old. Deleted & reinstalled. If that don’t help I will switch to 15’s.

Unfortunately old version was much better and easier to use

The old one gave me instant radar with exactly what I needed at that moment of weather. Could between weather app and news app.. I don’t need or want all of the extra fluff. Absolutely do not like update.

Don’t care for this updated version. I can’t get notifications and I have double checked in settings to make sure they’re on.

If I wanted to see what happened it the last twenty to thirty minutes I could just stare at the clouds. The radar loop is very very uninformative. I often can tell which way a storm is moving between direction and development.
FYI Alan Seals is great.

The old app, while looking outdated worked very well, I especially liked the heavy rain and lightning strike notifications. This recent update brings a much needed new look on WKRGWeather , but I feel like the radar is less useful with not showing the cones for tornados, etc. As well as I cannot get the notifications for lightning and heavy rain to work, which I really liked previously, especially how it would read out the information, but this may be user error.

Appears they changed new new system in last 4-6 months. New one terrible in that info is choppy and sporadic. Bring back old one.

Previous app was much easier to navigate and find what you were after. App is loading much faster though. The old one wouldn’t load on my phone half of the time.

You’ve ruined a very good app

Liked older version, when you open app & you see the map! If you wanted more detailed info. then you could go to that specific link to get it. Do NOT like the new "home page"

Hi, I've downloaded WKRGWeather. for the Ipod , it's real "buggie" , after I start it up , it just pops up for 10 sec. and the program shuts down :(
Hope they can fix this and I'm wondering if I'm the only one who's having this problem.
Program looks pretty cool .

Intrusive ads now carry loud sound making the almost unusable.

I really like WKRGWeather except for a couple of problems. First, the location always defaults to Mobile, but I live in Pensacola. No matter how many times I delete Mobile and set my location to Pensacola or to "Current location", Mobile keeps coming back as my default location and I find it very annoying. I don't care about weather alerts for Mobile. Secondly, during the recent approach of Isaac, the warnings repeated over and over and over again! It was annoying. The radar works great and is the main reason I like WKRGWeather. The iPad version is excellent.

This radar is ok but, it lacks the good stuff that is found on most weather apps.

I do not care for mapbox. It is misleading and does not act right. I want my old map back. I love this before the new map.

WKRGWeather needs to be designed for Plus model phones (top bar where clock is located is bigger than normal). The ad on top is very annoying. Would be nice to allow you to purchase a remove ads option.

Better than Weather Channel! More accurate and so easy to use. A MUST for Mobile, Al residents and visitors who want to know how to dress for the day! Our weather changes so fast! There are also alerts that are very true to your exact location: "lightning within one mile of you!" Smart app.

Ever since I updated your weather app I haven't been able to open it! Will there be a fix for this? I really liked it!

I used WKRGWeather coming back to Mobile from Columbia, MS. Did a perfect job on my iPod and Verizon hotspot. Very accurate and easy to use.

So far, it looks helpful. I love knowing the weather and I love all of the choices in maps. thanks!
