Too bad zero stars not an option

2024-11-17

The free version is lame so I paid for the auto renewal premium option. It was okay for a year and I let the auto renewal happen. Then, a month later, premium quit working and I could find no way to get EconomistWorldinFigures to recognize that I'd paid my renewal. I sent an email to The Economist asking for help and after a month, still no reply. So, I'm deleting EconomistWorldinFigures and hoping I can figure out how to keep The Economist from charging me next year - which I'm sure they will try to do.

Premium Version Crashes

2024-11-17

Since the free version was quite useless (no data of any importance is available there) I went ahead and paid for the premium version within a few minutes.
I used to be a subscriber to print magazine and The Economist used to send the pocket World in Figures. I loved those little books. I was expecting something like that and 6 bucks would’ve been worth it.
Alas, EconomistWorldinFigures (paid version) doesn’t even come close. It doesn’t have most of the data from the pocket book. It doesn’t give you many advantages that a digital publication could have given.

And,

It crashes!! Very annoying and productivity sapping.

The Economist definitely eroded its brand name by selling this.

¡Disappointing at best!

2024-11-17

I’d have to agree with all of the naysayers. I used to get the print version from the Economist. What in the world are they thinking of, publishing such a rudimentary and incomplete set of numbers and yet failing to address most of the important issues driving those numbers, such as education, religion and the likes.

Better then nothing but only just barely!

Disappointing.

I thought this small app would be part of my subscription to The Economist, but it's not.
It has very little content and costs more than many apps that offer significantly more value. Very disappointing from a respected name like The Economist.

Don’t pay for this—it won’t work

2024-11-17

As a previous reviewer noted, the iPhone app subscription does not work properly and won’t unlock the “premium content” for which you just paid. There are no refunds.

Pretty bad job, especially from economist!!!!

When do you update? Today end Jan 2018 country list like top economies of the world displays 2016 data. Unbelievable! It is claimed that data is updated every 3 months. Really?

I feel cheated

2024-11-17

It seems to have forgotten that I paid for it. It's like the vending machine ate my $7.

Really Bad

2024-11-17

The booklet, hard copy form of World in Figures was great. EconomistWorldinFigures is awkward to use and shallow.

They called me the n word

2024-11-17

N word sad day

Display problem

2024-11-17

The year of data is in the center of screen—meaning the eye must jump from the left to see the data name then to the right of screen to see the amount. Why stick the year in between???

Your fired!

2024-11-17

Why cant the currency be automatically translated to my country (US dollar)? Dont want to have to google translate myself. Wikipedia does better then this waste of money. Lost my trust in the economist

It’s OK, but

2024-11-17

Absolutely needs to be in LANDSCAPE mode for iPad use! Not turning my big iPad Pro with attached keyboard sideways to use it!

Waste of an app

2024-11-17

I don't understand how such large players in the media game could come out with such a garbage app. Poor design. Poor organization. I could have missed it, but also there is no way to enlarge to full screen, so the display area is tiny and you need to keep scrolling all over the place. Yes you can double the viewing area, but that just doubles the font size. The end result, you can only view six or seven lines of a list at a time. Oh, there's a sloppy built in feature, that displays lists in bar graph format if you rotate the screen to landscape mode. The problem is the programmers put the feature in on every list. So, for example, looking at the spaceflight mission list in landscape mode, you see rows of meaningless bar graphs, and the years of missions (eg 1957) appear with commas in them (eg 1,957). I also just tried the public debt info, and no numbers are displayed at all in portrait mode. Very sloppy. The little print book is much better. Very dissapointing. I really wish i could get a refund.

Very cool

2024-11-17

I just hope we're paying for all future ones too. I don't want to have paid $.99 for something I have to buy again next year. For that matter, why can't Economist subscribers get this for free? I get the print edition in thy way...
It needs more stuff, more units, and more updated data. A lot of info is not from 2011, which is a waste. Many things have no unit, so I don't know what many numbers represent. Lastly, it needs more info. For example, how about literacy rates and energy consumption, or pollution in tons?

Magnificent
