Distance Measure Reviews

I used DistanceMeasure to see if a piece of rail which could be up to 1730 feet long, would fit into a space I was looking at. DistanceMeasure use to tell me that. Now I have to figure out from yards to footage. If I’m wrong, and rail is to long now I have a problem. Before I could trust the measurement from point to point even when it would be close. Making a quick decision is not part of our work process now where before it was very accurate and quick. We are back to wheeling it off with a rolling measuring device. I am not happy as now time is a lot longer and time on the track is very slim.

I used to map out my runs on o e of the gps apps - can't find it, or that feature was removed. Tried to use DistanceMeasure - it doesn't work because DistanceMeasure doesn't follow the roads - it creates a straight line between 2 way points. Not sure what value this since the only mode of transportation that follows a straight line is an airplane.

Really genius to put Google advertising banner on top of the Welcome to Distance Measure ver3.5 banner new update screen, and you can't just skip the welcome screen, you can't stop the advertising screens that keep popping up in front of the X exit button needed to actually use the Distance Measure app. Either fix this or I will delete your app! Advertising should not take over DistanceMeasure screen. One star for you!!

At one time I could mark a starting point and use DistanceMeasure to find a distance, starting at a known point and searching for a point 366’ away. Can’t get DistanceMeasure to do that now?

I just wish I could pay a couple of bucks instead of dealing with the full-length ad taking up so much real estate. Not to mention, the banner showing ads of questionable legitimacy. You have to be careful not to accidentally hit the thing, which I guess is the point. Obviously, it's the dev's right to make money however he/she sees fit. I guess it's my right not to like the way they choose, and in this case, I'm afraid that's what's happened. I'm just a typical ad-hater, and if I use an app more than a few times/year, I always pay for the "pro" version (or whatever they call it) to get rid of the ads. I wish I could have done so here as well.

If you could use a more precise way to mark the different points and not the tip of your finger.

I use DistanceMeasure for a multitude of things but my best use for it has been hunting. Setting up shot locations and already knowing their distance is invaluable.

I use it often to figure distances of parking lots and buildings and just other basic measurements, but it would be great if it allowed you to zoom in further. Especially so you can get more exact point locations to measure from.

DistanceMeasure does what it says it does. Excellent. The one thing I wish it would do is work off-line. Either cache the maps or download them. Even a basic world map would be appreciated. (If there’s a way to do it I haven’t found it.)

I wish DistanceMeasure offered a spherical projection, that is to say, show the Earth as a globe that one can rotate. For me this is a more natural way to look at the Earth.

Really accurate measurements that help me find precise information when hiking and flying. I do wish it had setting that measured statue miles. Thx

If you’re interested in the distance between locations small and far there is no better app.

This is an improvement from the older version. It works well and does the job.
Helps me to Gouge distance of things.

I had to find a tool like this when Google took away the measure feature. DistanceMeasure works great for me. I've only used the distance measurement so far. Put a first waypoint and save, and you have a "pin". Take a screen shot of your map and keep it in your photos. The email feature is nice too. Just what I wanted. Simple and accurate. Nice job!

Update 2017-September. Still going strong on DistanceMeasure. I appreciate that the writer keeps up with it. Tried the airprint feature and it works great in hybrid and map view. Easy to toggle thru map unit changes. There is a pro version to pay and remove adds. See the settings page at the bottom. Thanks!

Update July 2019-still maintained by developer and still great IMO. Satellite photos are high quality as well.

I shoot long range and DistanceMeasure is great to setup targets on land, then I use a rangefinder to verify it has always been very reliable to use, email with questions and receive a quick response and fix on my end. Great app

DistanceMeasure does what it's supposed to do. It's quick and easy. You do need to be connected to the internet while the program calculates, and that's clearly spelled out in the store. $2 for no ads is the right price for me.

While not perfect, DistanceMeasure has proved to be the most useful one I’ve found so far for measuring the acreage of fields. It would be nice to be able to use it without having a cell phone signal, as I often find dead zones in my area and the map will not load.

I want to get better at estimating distances for hunting/shooting and DistanceMeasure is perfect for being able to check my myself against. I'd love the ability to cache maps for offline use and also to have the ability to pay a buck and get rid of the ads. Keep it up though, it's exactly what I was looking for!

When planning a boat trip, one key factor is how far away a potential destination is. With DistanceMeasure you can quickly calculate the distance of any route you are considering. For a multi-day boat trip, you can save a distance measure for each day’s route.

Used in conjunction with a depth chart, to ensure a safe route of adequate depths, I find Distance Measure my go-to tool for trip planning on my iPhone. Easy and accurate!

I've used DistanceMeasure for determining length of both paddleboard tour and hiking distance. DistMeasure gave me a solid idea of the distance I covered. I've also used the area function and found it to be relatively accurate.
