Screen Mirroring is a poor substitute for a native Apple TV app. I shouldn’t need two devices to watch one show. Also, your iOS app stops playing after the first commercial break - you can watch the rest from your iOS device, but the Apple TV never gets to display the rest of the episode. There’s no reason why it should be this bad.

Edit post-response: iOS uses AirPlay to sling the media to my Apple TV, and that's where the first commercial break stops every episode cold. So, your response fixes nothing and helped nothing. Great job.

It would probably be a lot better with a dedicated Apple TV app, but I guess Cartoon Network isn't interested in hitting the accessibility bar that every other major cable network seems able to. Guess that's what they make VLC for, they have an Apple TV app.

Came on here to update my review, only to see that my comment has been removed...again? 🤔 Seems a little fishy [Adult Swim].

My previous comments were not out of line, inappropriate, or wrong for that matter so someone behind the scenes is up to something. Is that because you guys offer and out of date application that has horrid features? An application that will randomly crash on you, then force you to re-watch the ads time after time after logging back on? Or is it because your shows sometimes won’t even upload the video, even while on a 5G source?

And no I don’t want to hear a developers response recommending me to HBO max. Both services you guys provide are so poor in quality it’s not worth the time. Just like how I’m wasting my time making another honest review. I would give adultswim a 0 out of 5 if I could.

When I first downloaded adultswim I logged in and was watching perfectly fine for a day. After that, I got logged out, I think, and when I tried logging back in it didn’t work and still hasn’t. I select my cable provider and enter the email but as soon as I click the sign in button after that, the information just disappears. I don’t get any “error” notification or anything. It doesn’t take me to a separate page, the email and password just disappear from the page. I’ve tried everything from powering off my phone, re-logging in, i deleted adultswim , signed out of everything and signed back in and the same thing happens every time. I’ve had adultswim for a really long time and haven’t been able to use it. I do not know what to do at this point.

Who wants an app to just start playing a random episode the second you open adultswim ? Sometimes I am in a setting were Rick and morty is not appropriate. This design choice makes it annoying to even open adultswim to check on shows or browse. Additionally, adultswim does not let you fill in your login data at random times after you click a provider and will just automatically give access to shows. However if you attempt to play anything it will say you must contact a service provider. The issue is solely on adultswim , as I was never given the option to enter my data. Somehow, after refreshing and much frustration I was able to get it to work on my phone. This glitch occurs across their app on other platforms as well. In the case of my tv and am utterly unable to use adultswim .
Also make sure to slide the slider in the settings so they do not sell your data!

I can’t say much about adultswim because every time I try to watch anything, about once in every 15 times I try to load anything I might get picture of the opening ad. Then go through that maybe another 10 times before it will stop freezing the picture during the ad just to freeze at the start of the video. Very disappointing that it takes over an hour just to watch something that’s less than 30 minutes. Pathetic really. Just now I have spent the past 10 hours trying to watch a single episode on adultswim and couldn’t even make it to the half-way commercials. This is 2019 and your app acts like it was written in the 90’s and never updated. Actually I take that back, in the 90’s even with the slowest dialup speed I could watch a 30 minute episode of something faster than this. Let that sink in guys..... your app is worse than 90’s speed on a 90’s program. Full service 4G on a modern app should never be this bad.

I don’t write reviews often, but adultswim deserves some frustration. When it works, it works just fine, but I’d say over 90% of the time it doesn’t load a single video on my Apple TV. It’ll load the preview video+audio of whatever preview they want to show me, but when I select an actual episode to watch (including whatever they’re showing me the preview of) all I get is a black screen. My Apple TV is not an old model, my software is always up to date, and adultswim barely works. I’m logged into my cable subscription, but I can’t watch anything on here. I’ve seen previous reviews where the reply from the developers/company states something to do with “adapting to network speeds”, but I pull over 100 mbps just fine. Any other streaming service works, this one just won’t.
TLDR: works great barely once in a while. Doesn’t work at all usually.

I love that I can watch a ton of content for free without a cable subscription, I don’t even mind the ads since it is free, but I seriously can’t watch through one episode of Rick and Morty on the marathon stream without the need to kill adultswim and restart the stream. Not. One. Episode. The stream is consistently buffering and pausing and sometimes I think it’s my WiFi, but when I disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi, the adult swim app just doesn’t load up for a while, meanwhile my wifi is working fine on my other devices. Again, I love the content, but the only word that goes through my mind when struggling to watch one episode on the stream is “pathetic” which is how I describe the quality of the marathon streams on adultswim

Not a connection problem on my side. Have 600 mbps down and stream EVERYTHING. But adultswim on both Apple TV and iPhone just spins and spins and spins with its cartoony paint load screen. On the TV it shows the grasshopper start screen but then just the load after that. I’ve completely uninstalled from both and reinstalled, no change. Super aggravating.

EDIT: got my iPhone version to work. Had to uninstall, but did NOT let it use my cable provider settings as prompted. Started it as a pleeb no-cable user instead and then MANUALLY signed it, and it worked. Unfortunately can’t say the same for AppleTV version, where I’m never given the choice.

2nd edit: I did, I made sure of that the first time and then I checked again to be sure. It works now obviously because I finally found the spectrum log in info but if I didn’t find that I simply wouldn’t be able to use spectrum on adultswim

Edit: yes I made sure the tv provider was connected beforehand. As I said before the other tv apps connected automatically after I clicked the spectrum icon, but for adult swim it made me log into my spectrum account for some reason, which was a pain because the login info for spectrum is almost never used so I misplaced the account info and had to go on a whole charade to find/fix it. Not like I’m some kind of expert but to make it easier at least on spectrum users please fix this problem and make it smoother. It should automatically log me in after I click the spectrum logo like the other tv apps do, unless there is a specific reason the adult swim app cannot do so. Anyway thanks for actually responding

having to sign in to your cable provider instead of it being automatically done when I click on the spectrum icon is unbelievably annoying and stupid. Literally every other tv app has made it incredibly easy for me, and the one channel I actually watch has me trying to dig up the lost useless account info for my charter account.

Lots of good content, but videos often freeze... audio continues, but the picture fails to advance. I have to restart adultswim and sit through yet another advertisement to continue watching. It would be nice if adultswim would be able to detect like "oh, this dude was just watching this show two minutes ago, I'm a gonna go straight back to the show rather than make him sit through another ad. It's been especially rough tonight... several inexplicable freezes of the audio then back to the commercials. It'd make a lot of sense if those of us who sign in to adultswim with our TV provider if we didn't have to view another ad if we were in the middle of a show and were only away for a very short duration.

Before I explain my issue, I want to start off by saying I love adult swim, and I got into it because of rick and morty! After o found out there was an app, I got really excited. The only issue is, for some reason I can’t log in with my cable provider, and when I tried to report the problem, a screen popped up that read, “You need an email to send an email” implying that I wasn’t logged in. Overall, it’s a great app, but I would love to see this bug fixed.

Edit: To answer your question, when I click sign in it buffers for a split second and then stops loading like I hadn’t touched sign in in the first place. Hope that helps.

It’s a good app, it works, and I appreciate the content that’s available. There’s a lot of Adult Swim content that’s really hard to find. I think my main concern is something like going forwards or backwards, because if I just use the bar I usually end up skipping ahead too far or going back too far.

Also I don’t know if this was updated, but when I tried to rewatch shows, it used to put me near the end, and when I tried to restart them I ended up watching an ad, and then ending up where I was before, and that was really frustrating.

I also don’t understand why some shows are locked, but I think that’s more of an Adult Swim problem rather than adultswim alone.

Fullscreen sizing issue on the new iPhone Xs Max. Landscape fullscreen cuts off too much of the top and bottom to the point you outright won’t see a translated subtitle in landscape mode. Posting this review as a means to get attention to the issue so that it can fit the screens rather than be zoomed and outright cut off large portions. Needing to view episodes while having the phone vertical is killer as

1. The content is too small at this point.
And
2. The rest of the screen below that is taken up by the episodes description.

Once this is fixed I’ll pop adultswim to 4 stars (as I feel it really should be) and only gave it two in the hopes to flag the issues down. I don’t believe in the 1 star reviews because it still works, just not optimally.

Edit; Problem was fixed, the phone itself didn’t have Zoom on in accessibility but adultswim was permanently zoomed. Other apps let you double tap to zoom but this one was stuck on. I gave it a fresh install and the sizing issue is gone. The screen can now be double tapped to zoom in and out. I’m not sure if it’s because adultswim from from my previous phones backup but the fresh install did end up fixing it.

I love adultswim for watching my favorite adult swim content! Recently when trying to cast shows to watch, I can start an episode but after a few minutes it will just stop playing. Adult Swim is still connected to chromecast, but the actual video is stopped. Restarting the video takes it back to the beginning, only for it to happen over again a few mintues later. I only noticed this with the most recent update... not sure if this is a know issue or not. For more detail, it’s occurring with watching Jo Jo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind casted the an external chromecast device (not built in to the TV). Hopefully it can be resolved soon!

I love adultswim adult swim is the only channel I watch on tv but I hate that I can't watch all the episodes of my favorite show (can someone explain why adultswim doesn’t have all the episodes of some shows) and something weird happened when I was watching a newer show called Primal I was watching it on my phone about 2 days ago(I didn’t finish the episode) and then got back on to finish watching it but when I went to finish it it wasn’t there it was gone there was only episodes 2-5. Is it a glitch on my phone or did the developers take the episode down. But I still love adultswim

adultswim offers a really great pool of shows, most of them are full seasons too which is really nice. Almost all of the Adult Swim programming you’d expect is present, even shows that are brand new like Primal. Also having all of Samurai Jack is a huge plus. I think they should add some more of their old syndicated shows like Mission Hill, Clerks, or the Oblongs if they still have the rights for those. My main issue with adultswim is the casting, it’s really annoying. Every time I use it adultswim loads for a really long time before failing. It doesn’t pause the episode so while I was trying to figure out the issue it kept playing ads while I retried the casting. This may just be an issue my Tv has so I won’t lower the rating too far, but it really annoyed me after trying to get it to work for over 30 minutes with no results.

I happened to find out about this application while watching adult swim on television. I tried the Roku application but could not get it to work with the built-in voice guidance on the set. I would hope that maybe this will improve in a future update. I also am a voiceover user on Apple iOS and would like to see the voice over improvements on this as well as possibly an Apple TV version of the application. I hope that you will take these and other suggestions from users like myself. Otherwise, great application and keep up the good work.

adultswim has tons of great shows that I love. Adult Swim’s library is by far the best out of every channel’s. My only complaint is that some of my Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes say that I haven’t watched them despite the fact that I did, but that’s fine. I also appreciate having both the East and West Coast feeds because it works for us East Coasters that don’t wake up as early. Overall, an absolutely fantastic app that all Adult Swim fans should download.

The menu home screen is in portrait. Only the video plays in horizontal view. Make the menu landscape as well and it’ll be 5 stars. You can follow twitch’s implementation of landscape. Or YouTube’s. On my iPhone 11 (while using airplay on my Samsung TV) adultswim will regularly stop and I’ll have to press play again to keep the video going. Weird thing is, it usually resumes 3-5 minutes BACK from where it last was causing me to have to rewatch some material to catch up. Sometimes it’ll correct itself tho, causing me to miss a portion of the show. But I still give it 5 stars because free adult swim.

Update: The only aspect of adultswim I use is Marathons but I just discovered recently it happens on the phone itself as well. Airplay doesn’t seem to be the trigger as I initially thought. Also, it happens whether on WiFi (200mbs) or regular cellular internet.

So, I made a review a lil while ago about how after the commercials the show would come back sound only with a black screen. Well, I don’t have that prob anymore, but now that I updated adultswim , I can’t make it full screen. The tab does nothing when pushed nor does it go full screen when I turn my phone sideways. Super annoying!! I’ve been an adult swim fan since it first started on tv... but adultswim has given me nothing but trouble since the day I downloaded it. I tried deleting adultswim n downloading it again, but nothing changed. I admit, I’m not the most tech savvy person alive to say the least. But I do know how to touch an option on the screen, and it’s not working. Please help?!!

I’ve tried to airplay mirror adultswim to my Apple TV to watch the new season of FLCL, but every time it hits the mid-episode ad, it starts the episode over again after the ads play. Even when I try to just move the playhead to where we are, it plays at least two minutes of ads and then start the episode over. If I back out and try to hit “resume”, it still plays a bunch of ads and then starts the episode over. All I want to do is watch an entire episode of something, and adultswim seems to make it impossible. Super disappointed in adultswim and AS still including ads even when logged in with a cable subscription. If the episode could play uninterrupted, I doubt this would keep happening.

While it is nice that there are free streaming options, even when connected through a cable provider adultswim will refuse to play locked episodes. This “failed to play” message is apparently due to the video needing Flash to run... despite the non-blocked episodes working without it? Of course this is impossible on Apple products meaning you HAVE to cast if you want it to work. I find this crazy considering Flash is obviously not needed for episodes to run, and the portability is the only reason I use adultswim over the website in the first place. Totally ruined adultswim for me. EDIT: No my provider is in fact partnered with Turner Broadcasting so that obviously isn’t the case. Things like this could inspire people to pirate, so just a heads up.

All I want to do is watch Rick and Morty. But it takes like 45 minutes to get through a 22-minute episode, because adultswim freezes, or stops the video but continues playing audio, or just does not work at all, and I have to keep quitting and coming back to get a couple more minutes of show, but it wants to keep serving ads every time. (And those always manage to play, for some reason.) Garbage. But somehow I can just go to the AS website in a browser and stream from there. So plainly my connectivity is not the problem. And I have to wait until next year until I can watch it on a streaming service that actually works? Adult Swim should fire all their developers and start over.

The only reason there is 2 stars is because of the content. I love the shows!
It should really be 1 star because adultswim doesn’t work worth a crap! How can you launch an update that screws up so much? Ever heard of DEbugging? Before the newest update, it took several tries to get the video into landscape mode. I’d have to exit then enter and exit and enter over and over until adultswim finally recognized that I’m holding my phone differently. The full screen button doesn’t work either. Now, landscape mode doesn’t work at all, so I get to watch shows on 1/3 size screen until these guys figure this BS out. Seriously, don’t download until it’s fixed!

Let me start by saying I love adult swim. I’ve had adultswim on my phone a while now but really digging into it as of late.

At first it was cool, I’m streaming the marathon of Rick and Morty, but after the 2nd day during my commute the video would not show, only audio and a black screen.

I assumed naturally it was my network because T-Mobile is trash almost everywhere but when I got home and connected to WiFi it was still funky.

I started poking around adultswim cause I know there are options to play audio only, ensured that wasn’t my problem. Restarted my phone and network setting just in case and still no luck.

The last thing running through my brain is that I’m in the Apple beta software program and wondering if there is some conflict there? My phone auto updates so that could be it but I’m not taking myself out of the beta program to watch adultswim .

I feel like it should still work across like the rest of the apps in my phone.

I went into adultswim and it kept saying there was a problem, I am connected to WiFi but I still couldn’t get to the first page. If you can fix that it would be great I’m super excited to use adultswim .

Edit: the problem is still there, I’m going to describe the scene. It’s white except for the [as] in the middle and a red bar at the bottom saying that there is a problem, and there is a retry button where it tries to reload for half a second then stays the same. I have reset my phone several times and I have the latest iPhone updates, I am also connected to a strong WiFi signal.

Just got adultswim, and I’m looking forward to using it. But I had planned to watch things on my 12.9 inch iPad Pro. However, adultswim is primarily based in portrait mode. Even though I have discovered I can watch some shows in landscape mode, it takes quite a bit of finagling with an unwieldy 12.9 inch iPad to do so.

It seems more logical that the entire app should be designed for both landscape and portrait mode, especially with regard to iPads. I am not sure why adultswim does not offer landscape mode but I hope that is on the horizon as otherwise it makes watching on an iPad and navigating adultswim difficult.

Chatting on an iPad on adultswim is also not possible in my usage since chat is in portrait mode only.

I wish there were more complete seasons available since I like to start from the beginning. Otherwise I am excited for adultswim! Thank you.

Edit: Thanks for turning off that blinding splash screen. As to my original review, there are still few if any ways to adjust issues with your cable provider, so if you’re stuck with the swirling startup screen, that’s why. Otherwise it’s become pretty solid app. A couple of bits: iPad version only plays content in landscape, interface is a little confusing (are checked episodes watched or greyed out episodes?). And I still don’t get why select episodes/seasons are missing from some shows (ahem... torrent), but there is still a ton of good quality content here.

Ive been an Adult Swim fan since day 1, and adultswim only makes it even easier to get my daily fix whenever I have down time. As a creative myself, i have nothing but respect for all of the many writers, the animators, and creators of all these funny, bizarre, sometimes educational, and often philosophical shows. I cant get enough. More! More! More! And btw....if you have any pull at all over at the Rick and Morty camp, please tell em to get with the new episodes already! ...I think Im going through withdrawal already. Thanks! Peace!
