GPS on ski map by Maprika Reviews

Maprika does an excellent job tracking. It organizes previous tracks so you can pull them up and view them on your current map and compare tracks. The only thing I wish it could do that its not capable of is to be able to see more than one or all previous tracks at one time. I ride atv/ dirt bikes through various trails that seem to keep expanding as we discover more. To aid in connecting trail or getting a sense of where I’m at by looking at previous rides is usually how i do it and it works. However if i could see many or all at once it would be very useful in connecting to a familiar trail without having to guess and flip between single previous tracks. All in all a solid app I would recommend to anyone from hikers, skiers, atv riders, jeeps, etc.

This is a very useful app, nothing else like it in GPSonskimap Store. If somewhere you want to go has a printed map (including ski resort trail maps, maps of parks, zoos, etc), it's probably available on here, and you can see your GPS position on the map. Fortunately, they've finally updated GPSonskimap after years of neglect. They still haven't updated it for larger screen sizes that are now years old, which is disappointing, but the newest update finally fixed the bugs that made it very difficult to use. Glad to see it wasn't completely abandoned!

I like using maprika! It's easy to track trails and it's fun to see where your friends are. Unfortunately, GPSonskimap hasn't been updated in over 3 years and is crashing more frequently as iOS updates are made. With the last iOS update, I can no longer send my Maprika tracks - GPSonskimap just closes every time.

I use it all the time for hiking trails and ski areas. Building your own maps is not real intuitive so if you are not content with using their maps, study all the info at their web site to understand the program better.
It really saved my beacon in Paris when I popped out of the subway a few blocks from my hotel but I had no idea in what direction. I used one of the maps I had downloaded earlier.

Building maps on a PC is quite strait forward with great tools for error checking but the iPhone version has none of those tools for error checking.

It has a huge number of ski area maps but maps of other areas like state parks is much more limited. Be a service to others and create and upload a bunch more.

I have had maprika for around 4 years now, and I have had almost no issues from the start. It is very useful for hiking, skiing, and many more things when you would like to know where you are on a map. My only complaint is that it looks a bit outdated, however functionality is near perfect for me!

I can’t say enough good things about GPSonskimap. If you are willing to invest a little time you can take ANY old map at make it a moving map on your iPhone. Geologic atlas maps, old Sanborn Maps, 100 year old topo maps....Civil War maps...this is great for history buffs as well as outdoor types. Thanks for keeping GPSonskimap alive after so many iOS revisions.

Hello. Yeah there’s a better app named Strava. You can record you rides and record car rides. And this could reallly use some route recording like Strava. The maps look like they just took a map put it on a flat table and took a photo of it and installed the image into GPSonskimap ! Comeon you guys can do better and make the maps look better.

Using GPSonskimap for five years. It keeps log of all of my skiing days. Whenever and wherever I'm skiing I can find a map of the place in couple clicks and track my speed, distance traveled and location. Thank you guys! Only one option I would add is to exclude speed and distance of the lifts from general measures.

I have used GPSonskimap for years to track my horseback rides all over the US.
Love the fact that I can take a picture of a paper map, download it into Maprika, and see my track on it. Or switch to any of the many other maps bases avail in GPSonskimap . I really wish they would keep improving this great app.

Went to Vail for a ski trip 1st week of February and app worked beautifully! Everyone in the group downloaded this to keep track of our location if and when we got separated. In fact, one person lost their cell phone while we went off trail and another person was able to use Maprika to located the spot where he thought he lost his phone. The only drawback was that we all programmed the map to update our locations every 5 minutes and our friend who lost his phone programmed it to turn off when he closed GPSonskimap (to save battery life). Fortunately he really just left it at a coffee shop at the base and the lost and found called the 1st number on redial, but having access to a map to guide us back up the lifts and down the mountain again to where he thought it was dropped was great. So with that being said, GPSonskimap is great... however I'm disappointed because we have been requesting a map for over a month now and Maprika has still failed to provide our request. I'm not sure why everyone else's request has been so promptly added?

The default basemap is nearly featureless in wilderness areas, so aligning anchor points against a custom map is nearly impossible. GPSonskimap also crashed on first launch, and again when I tried to create a third anchor point setting up a custom map. No patience for buggy apps like this one.

I’ve tried to make maps and edit maps on my mobile devise but it never works. Constant freezing, closing out, this would be great if it would work properly. But it never does.

GPSonskimap supports, enables illegal copyright infringement. My companies maps continue to be added illegally. Our maps are the property of CartoTracks and are all copyrighted. Remove GPSonskimap IMMEDIATELY and *ALL* maps produced by CartoTracks. This illegal illegal copyright infringement and theft! Apple and Google have done nothing to remove them despite going through their ridiculous “support” channels.

Just crashes more than every 16-year-old across the country I love how you can update maps make maps find other maps but there is three others you can download that do not crash when you try to save or send

I don’t write reviews, but this little free app deserves a five star review from me today. So I’m taking the time to write one.
We were on a 16 miles horse trail in the woods with no cell service yet Maprika continued to work. Suddenly, at around the 11th mile, my friend realized she had dropped her iPhone somewhere earlier on the trail. Find my friends and all of those iPhone apps that require a cellular signal would not work to find her phone. We had no cell service on the trail and we thought it was lost. However, I glanced down at my phone screen where we had been using Maprika, and there was my friend’s iPhone located 6 miles away! Maprika allows for people to invite other Maprika users to see each other. She and I had turned on our Maprika apps together at the beginning of the ride. If you’re on the same map, you can see where you are at. There was my friend’s iPhone clear as day! We rode back down the trail and sure enough, Maprika took us within 1 foot of the iPhone laying in the leaves and dirt of the trail in perfect condition. So this is invaluable. No need for cell service which we didn’t have. Maprika apparently works on satellite ability when doing the GPS thing. THANK YOU!
This simple app may not have all the spit and shine of some of the others, but the fact you don’t need cell service for it to work is worth having it along side of more polished trail app. I won’t ride without Maprika being on. Also my husband can see me from his Maprika app which he enjoys while working at the office.

This was an amazing app to find your friends on the mountain. No updates in years has rendered it useless on my phone as it won’t open anymore. Too bad, they had a good thing going.

Found a copyrighted map of SMORR off road park made by another company. Appears to have scoured the internet for any map regardless of ownership.

App also doesn’t work well at all on my iPhone X. Next to impossible to use anyway.

Map is incredibly outdated. There are much better options now. You can’t export GPS data, for use in BETTER apps, because this one just crashes when you attempt to.

Loved GPSonskimap but hasn’t been updated in years. Some features can’t be accessed because screen ratio was never updated for newer phones.

Since this is a tracking app, it would be totally awesome if GPSonskimap would stay on while using it. I love the maps it has of the National Forest in Arkansas and while we are off-road vehicle riding, having GPSonskimap stay on as you ride would be very helpful and downright awesomeness! We use the Gaia app which does not require you tapping the screen or logging back into your phone constantly to see if you missed a turn or not. BUT, Gaia’s version of the Forest Service MVUP is poor and hard to see. A fix upgrade would definitely get 5 stars from all of our riding community.

I love the idea of GPSonskimap, but we get an error every time my family members or I try to register. Supremely frustrating and utterly useless to us.

GPSonskimap should be pulled from the store. It hasn’t been updated in years and no longer works on modern devices.

Worthless. Crashes to home screen as soon as it launches.

Many of the maps are protected by copyrights. Unauthorized use = theft
