This is a great helpful app but the one problem i've run into is that the button for audio pronunciation can be pressed multiple times to no avail. It’s hard to learn essential terms used in any conversation when you don’t know how to say the words.

Common people! Really? Giving 1 star? I don't usually rate apps but I wanted to protect this one. Yes it is not perfect, but it is very simple and it works well, it finds practically every word I throw at it and does good job. I use it in conjunction with other dictionaries to just better understanding of the sense of the word. I never used voice feature, I don't need it, all I need is English-Russian dictionary and that what it is.

This is probably one of the more useful free Eng-Rus dictionary out there (or inexpensive if you purchase add-ons). It does have its bugs, however, and the interface can sometimes be cumbersome to work with. A few translations are not entirely correct, so it requires previous Russian knowledge to distinguish.

Despite paying to specifically remove ads, I still receive ads for the developer's other apps. Also, every few days RussianDictionary reverts back to the free version and blasts me with 3rd party ads. It's easy enough to restore my purchases, but that's not something I should have to do on a regular basis. The developer is unable to fix this issue, so I've since started using Abbyy Lingvo. Expensive, but entirely worth it for serious Russian language students/enthusiasts.

The free version is useful, however, I upgraded for the pronunciation so that I could hear what the word of the day sounds like in Russian. Unfortunately, the pronunciation is in English. I contacted the developer and, in spite of letting them know that I was connected to the Internet and the pronunciation worked in the words but not the Word of the Day, I have found no fix for this. As a result, I hesitated on upgrading to the full version. As a free app, it will help you find what you are looking for, but it's not much different than other apps out there.

The offline capabilities of RussianDictionary make it indispensable for me when I am sitting in a booth without internet, interpreting. It's so easy to use that I can continue interpreting even while looking up a term. The translations do require someone with good knowledge of the language, though, to choose the correct term. Nevertheless, it's an excellent app and all the other translators are now installing it.

If you know some Russian and just need a large store of words, this is for you. If you want something for beginners, choose another program for beginners. For something more advanced with pronunciation & more detailed info either pay for it or use the internet. Highly recommended for its size, breadth & depth.

There are so many English words that are completely made up. What in earth is a "dog bee?" I thought maybe this is some obscure British or Australian slang, but the Internet shows nothing. Other stuff just looks knotty like "a bad quarter of an hour" or "a back view of things." Don't even get me started on the Russian. It looks like someone just stole a freelang dictionary and tried to upgrade it a bit. Seriously, even google translate would serve you better than this. If you can't speak EITHER language, don't make a translation dictionary!

I'm using this to supplement my college language courses, and it's a great way to expand one's developing vocabulary. I didn't give four or more stars because sometimes, the English word (for which the Russian translation is to be guessed in the multiple-choice area) is obscure and antiquated, if not completely unheard of. Also, sometimes there is no Cyrillic spelling offered for a Russian word...probably bugs, but kind of annoying nonetheless.

I have been using RussianDictionary for about two weeks now and I think it is very good for upper intermediate level. Certain advanced level vocabulary however is missing but I hove the developers are working on that.

This dictionary performs quite well; I haven't found a word that it doesn't have! I also love that you can use it without the use of internet. There are flashcards and a good phrase book. This dictionary is as good as my Oxford!

After having used some 20 various Russian apps, I would rate this one at number one or two.
Specially since there aren't too many intermediate and advanced Russian apps out there.
Great product

It auto populates words so if I don't know how to spell something I hear in a movie, I can usually find it.

The only real problems that I have with it are ...

1) You can't activate the audio feature for individual words listed as secondary alternatives

2) RussianDictionary itself is very slow to load up

This is a good dictionary. I liked the dictionary when you could access English definitions for English words. I find the word of the day is impractical. The dictionary would be even better if there were phrases using the specified word. But it is easy to use.

Almost useless for non-speakers. Words are often not practical. You have to pay to hear the Russian word pronounced. All you get is a written Cyrillic equivalent of the English word. Might be helpful to someone who has studied Russian for a couple of years. Not useful to the casual beginner looking for an easy introduction.

RussianDictionary is good but could but better. When RussianDictionary opens the word of the day should automatically appear. Also, I shouldn't have to type in a word to get the rest of the alphabet. Yet, it does provide any word I need so kudos to that.

It is an excellent learning program to have in the iPod touch, it's very helpful and you can communicate with Russian speaking very easy

This is a wonderful app. I enjoy using it everyday and getting the word of the day sent to me. I do wish there were more words...
