I’ve been playing this game for some time and enjoy the controls and the puzzles. I have bought several packs of puzzles at different difficulty levels and until recently enjoyed them very much.

The problem is the ads, which have always displayed above the puzzle board (even after I’ve paid for puzzle packs, which is disappointing). In the last few weeks, those banners seem to be flashy enough to be distracting while I play; unfortunately that isn’t the worst problem. The ads I now have to wait for a close button to appear on them every time I open Sudoku aren’t the worst problem either, though they are mighty annoying indeed. The most appalling are the ads that interrupt gameplay mid-game, full-screen, and make you close them before continuing to play. This, in an app I’m paying to play? That’s galling. It’s behavior I might expect from a free app of much lesser quality.

Bottom line: this is a good game made unplayable by intrusive ads that ruin gameplay. I’d recommend avoiding; even though these are the best controls for this app on the iPhone that I have found, lesser version of the game her also much less annoying.

This game is a nice challenge, and yet simple enough to share and teach my eight year old. It features the ability to note and eliminate possible solutions in each square. I like that I am able to turn off the sounds and enjoy the game silently, and also to challenge my own best time. However, only the first 100 boards are free. They give you three levels of difficulty on the free boards, and they are satisfyingly challenging; but there are two higher difficulty levels on the paid boards that I’m not going to pay to get. Also, ads seemed to suddenly get much worse after the last iPhone update, including one that keeps interrupting my game and superimposing itself repeatedly over my board. I can’t figure out if Sudoku is the issue, or the update, but I suspect it’s the update.

First of all the puzzles on the numbers and one box more or less. The numbers are crowded to one side corner that there is no distribution across the puzzle. This makes every puzzle almost Identical. The interface is good. It's just the puzzles that stink. ••• Three years later I change my review to 5-Star. The puzzles are much more sophisticated at the higher levels and the interface remains excellent. I recommend it as the best I have seen.

I used to love Sudoku. It plays music that I really enjoy and has nice graphics. I have two MAJOR ISSUES with Sudoku which COMPLETELY RUIN IT!! First the ads now constantly interrupt you WHILE YOURE PLAYING!!

They literally pop up and take over the screen in the middle of trying to play and you have to wait and click out of it. THEY SPAM YOU!! It literally just had 6 IN A ROW! And as I click out of the ads another one just keeps popping up!! I finally just had to close Sudoku and look for a new one!!It’s worse than a pirate website!! UNBELIEVABLE.

Secondly it doesn’t reset anything when you restart or replay a game, it keeps the time and errors from previous games. That’s completely stupid. If you restart a game it should restart the stats! They have RUINED Sudoku!

One of the more difficult ones to play on. Let me write my own notes but automatically delete a number from the column/row/9x9 section when I make the number so. I don't see why the only option is to either write all your notes for you or do nothing at all. Taking out the number is just tedious, not hard or anything. I've found that little bit of assist really nice in this app apps. Too bad this one doesn't have it.

And now with some update you can’t even choose your difficulty level. Look, I’ve been playing this app since I was in grade school; I do not need to start on easy and work my way up to expert thank you very bloody much.

Trash app.

I love this game. It starts you off on the easiest level then gradually builds in intensity all the way up to insane, 100 games in a pack. And it's only .99 to buy the next pack. I limit myself to one new game per day, but I look forward to playing it every day. What's great is that if I want I can go back and replay the games over and over again. Great entertainment!! Thank you so much for such an enjoyable game!!!

You probably already know how great a game this app is. This is the best electronic version I have found. Having the separate keyboard for candidates makes Sudoku work very well (I've got to have my candidates). The puzzles still aren't as hard as the newspaper on a Friday, but having the timer and scoring allows you to compete against yourself.

The game itself used to be great. I’ve purchased many of the packs, but now all of a sudden there are ads popping up all over the place, which is distracting and ridiculous. If I wanted to see ads I’d play free games. Tonight I had ten minutes to play, but before I could even get to the game I had to sit through an ad that forces you to interact with the ad and complete the steps to get to the end the advertisement, THEN the tab to close out the game was so small it took me to Sudoku Store every time I tried to exit. I tried about twenty times. Basically Sudoku is now garbage.

Outstanding game, beautiful presentation. I love the graphics, the sound, the music. The tools are logical, simple, and intuitive.
The one negative i have is the presence of the timer and the record keeping of best time. It misses the whole point of the game. The graphics, sound, and music promote an atmoshpere of peace and opening the mind. In contrast, the timer inserts an urgency that is completely inconsistent with the rest of the presentation.
Otherwise, i love it, and ignore the timer.

This game of this app is really the most fun of them all!! They have levels to challenge your potential & the new pack of 100 games that you choose to buy are extremely price effective. That is what keeps me coming back to this particular game. I love this game! Thank you!

Worked on 14.4.2, does not work on 14.6 ... needs to be updated by developer!

Meanwhile ... the wife and I love this version of the game. We’ve purchased many of the extra levels, and are constantly trying to beat each other’s scores. The colors are good for late night wind-down, too.

Optime make some great software, but this one seems to try to capitalise a little too much, forcing users to pay for pre-created games when it could generate them infinitely. I would be happy to play all the set levels, by earning 'credits', however that part is broken, leaving me with no other choice than to pay - which seems oddly convenient... Fix that please!? - currently I tap on the bar at the top and it just makes a tap noise, nothing else happens!

Of all the this app games I've tried, this one is the best! It's the easiest on the eyes, it's simple to operate, it's functionality was clearly well thought out by those who designed and wrote the software, and I have zero frustrations when playing it.

Recent changes to the ads have ruined a once great app. Controls, functions, puzzles are fantastic. Even the expansion packs are priced right. The problem is that recently the ads, which for some time have been at the top of the screen where the pics in the preview here show the word “this app”, have started to flash consistently and have become a real distraction. Concentrating is near impossible with ads constantly flashing above the board.

Completely ruined a great app. Time to move on....

I spend thirty minutes commuting and spend a lot of time working on this app. This program is by far the most enjoyable to use. Having both pencil and pen keyboards on screen saves lots of time. Optime is to be applauded for creating this program.

A decent setup and fairly easy to play. I wish the autocheck feature would warn you to a bad number all the time and not just on doubles. And i extremely dislike that hint numbers don't autoerase when that number is used elsewhere.
All in all
It is okay. Not the best but far from the worse.

Plenty of puzzles at your difficulty level. Each 100 puzzles cost real money or you can add credits to earn puzzles. Don't mind paying the reasonable amount for these to support more games.

I’ve had Sudoku for over a year & the more updates they do, the worse it seems to get. The ads are now pausing the game & making you watch their videos now. It even opens up Sudoku Store for me to download it when I didn’t even select anything. It’ll open up safari too. Rather annoying. Was hoping it would get fixed in the past couple updates, but no such luck yet.

Thank God iOS now alerts you when an app pastes from your clipboard without being triggered by the user. This is highly suspicious and could be phishing for data from apps like password managers. If this is unintentional, please update Sudoku to stop auto-pasting as soon as Sudoku is brought to foreground. I encourage anyone reading this review to similarly petition the dev to do this and downgrade the review score until they do.

Loved this game for about 5 years. Past tense - loved. Now I can’t even open Sudoku because ads at startup wont go away. Tried closing them and they just freeze. App is 100% useless since it won’t launch past ads. It’s a shame the developers are so greedy!

Apple needs to control these garbage apps covered with low quality ad integration. It’s really making Apple look cheap when they approve garbage versions of apps.
