Chromatic Vision Simulator Reviews

My 9 year old son is color blind & we struggle to understand what he sees. I was optimistic this would help, but he said this alters the colors in a different way than he actually sees. Didn’t work for us.

This is a fabulous app. We used this to help us understand our autistic CVD son's perspective. We mistakenly didn't share our location upon opening today and ChromaticVisionSimulator shut down. We can't get it back. It's loaded but not activating. We are so sad.....we tried to delete and download again. That didn't work. We are heartbroken to have lost this valuable tool. There is nothing better. This tool is amazing. We are so grateful for the limited time we had it and deeply saddened that we lost it for merely touching a wrong space on a tiny screen.

I am viler blond and it does not look like what I see

I love how ChromaticVisionSimulator enables seeing the world from the perspective of different color blind deficiencies. However, it would be great if there were "settings" and maybe more explanation of the different types of color blindness (I had to look up the terms used elsewhere). Initially I did not allow access to my photos, but when I changed my mind I couldn't adjust the settings. I deleted and reloaded ChromaticVisionSimulator , and still cannot access my photos. ChromaticVisionSimulator is still usable in "real time" but I can't save a snapshot.

It just doesn't seem as realistic as I was hoping

I checked out several color-blind related apps and so far this is the best! My father and young son are both color blind, and this gives me an idea of what their world looks like.

It's really interesting to see what the world looks like to colorblind people. But could you add a way to import videos instead of just photos?

ChromaticVisionSimulator will crash on reopening unless you go to settings and give ChromaticVisionSimulator access to the camera and photo albums. It is not unusable, but it did take a bit to figure this out. ChromaticVisionSimulator is extremely useful, but this bug = 4 / 5 stars. No update since 2013... Seems like updates are unlikely.

My grandpa is color blind. Has been for about 70 years now. We all worked together to get him color vision glasses. We figured out he cannot see red or green. The whole world looked so shockingly brown and olive almost like a black and white movie with surprising splashes of blue or yellow.

We used this to decorate the room, choose our outfits, the cupcakes and even a bright red and green rose. He is VERY stoic and even his wife almost never saw him cry but he did. His comment was “You mean you guys see this ALL the time!? I never knew it was so beautiful.”

Use this to understand your family/friends. Then please go get them color vision glasses because it is a beautiful gift that means more than you can imagine. Grandpa is now relearning what colors are called what. ChromaticVisionSimulator was a great creations thank you.

Around 8% of men are blind and less than 1% of women. I heard some people at my school were color blind. I wondered what it looked like as them and thought how cool it would be to have a color blind camera. This is exactly what I was looking for!! I am glad it has all three types of color-blindness available.
Definitely recommend! Try it on some colored pencils. It is amazing!

I think that you did not permit use of a “Camera" to the application.
Even if you do not permit use of a location, ChromaticVisionSimulator operates satisfactorily. It only changes whether or not a location information is embedded in saved image when you push the save button.
However, if use of a camera is not permitted, ChromaticVisionSimulator does not operate.
Please permit “Camera" by turning ON a switch at “Settings" - “Privacy” - “Camera” - "Chromatic Vision Simulator.”

This is the best app ever. It makes being color blind so much easier. I spent my whole life trying to explain to others what I see, when I don't know what everyone else sees. Now when I say "It looks blue to me" I can say see. Instead of the question "what's it like to be colorblind"? Now I get wow that must be difficult for you. Thanks for the great app.

I'm a UX designer, and I love using ChromaticVisionSimulator to help me understand whether or not color blind folks will be able to understand an interface. So simple to use!

This helps me shop for my color-blind son, so I can pick out clothes, books, and toys that he'll like. I've painted his room, decorated birthday cakes, and even shown his teachers what he sees. It's incredible, thank you!

I use ChromaticVisionSimulator extensively when making presentations for large audiences at work, and live event signage. It has been an invaluable tool to show the sales and marketing departments so they can create content viewable by everyone.

We only recently found out that our son (1 yr) has 1/2 chance of being colorblind. Using ChromaticVisionSimulator we identified items that if he were to be colorblind he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Turns out he isn’t. Way earlier than doctors could tell (~5 yr). Saved us 4 years of anxiety.

If your color blind and want others to see what you see, this is ChromaticVisionSimulator you want to use! Ever since I was a child, I’ve always suspected I was color blind. No one believed me because I can successfully guess the colors about 90% of the time. This wasn’t confirmed until I was 21.

Now that I have ChromaticVisionSimulator, I’ve used it with my wife, kids, friends and co-workers. Just recently, after taking an Ishihara Color Dot Test, I used ChromaticVisionSimulator to show the tester how I see the dots. Absolutely wonderful app!
