Great concept but falls short

I had played with the free version before buying the unlocked version. I was having difficulty getting the drawing tools to function properly but contributed my problems to inexperience and the free version. The Apps finger method of drawing is amazing, so I took the chance and purchased it for $11. Unfortunately, the Apps ability to save your work is flawed and its command tools plagued with inconsistencies. I spend roughly 6 hours learning from poorly design tutorials and a simple online manual. I kept thinking there must be more information somewhere, so I kept looking, but sadly no. If it's not on the manual it can't do it. For example, making a circle, easy right? Now try and resize it, sorry can't do that. Looked online and played for hours trying to resize a circle. No example and no mention of doing so anywhere. Ok, so it can't edit a circle, I can live with that, but it would have been nice to know before I spent so much time. Sometimes CADTouch has a mind of its own, using commands you don't have selected and you can't turn them off. But the one thing that I can't work around is the loss of drawing information. One moment my drawing is there and the next it's a clean slate. Several times I closed CADTouch only to find my drawing wiped clean when reopened. CADTouch has great potential once the bugs are fixed.

Really nice!!!

After searching high and low for an iOS CAD app that would actually provide usable functionality, the ability to create and store drawings locally and not break the bank with monthly access fees, I stumbled upon CAD Touch 5. What a nice implementation this is. I imported AutoCAD drawings I created as far back as the early 80's and everything came in perfectly and are fully editable! Creating drawings from scratch is a breeze, as well. I am still running on an iPad 2 with iOS 8.1.1 and was shocked at how well it performs.

I still haven't mastered getting text and dimensions to scale evenly, but will figure it out. It would be great if they would add the ability to do fillets and chamfers by selecting the intersecting entities and entering a radius or chamfer distance. Also, it doesn't seem to be able to execute a "trim" when attempting to trim a line or circle at tangent points. One other future feature that may prove helpful would be to allow the setting of a drawing scale.

All in all, I highly recommend CADTouch for those wanting a "functional", cost effective mobile CAD app. Nice job!

Terrible drafting program

This is an absolute terrible program. It is not user friendly and the tutorials are impossible to understand. You would have to be an architect to understand most of the language used in the tutorials, and I believe any architect worth half what their degree cost would never waste their time on a garbage program like this one. Again, useless program due to tutorials impossible to understand. They might as well have written the tutorials in Latin or some other dead language.
I would give anyone thinking about buying this program 2 bits of advise... First, any review giving this program more than 1 star was most likely written by someone who developed it. Second, take your money outside to your back yard, douse it in lighter fluid, light it on fire, watch it burn down to ash, take the ash and mix it with salt then rub it in your own eyes. It will be a better use of the money than buying this useless program.

Nice, but missing features

I have been using this software for a few days now. Frankly, for an iPad interface its pretty nice. But a couple of things make it a little annoying to use.

For example, lets say you are creating a floor plan. It would be great to have a basic square wall template that you can pull in and move the corners to match the room size you are working with. The software has issues with you picking some vertices to move and zooming out to give the move vector. It loses the selected vertices during the zoom.

There are other similar selection issues with the tool.

Great start, still clunky

The idea of CADTouch is great. Overall it is user friendly. The downside is it's still clunky and is missing some key features (I.e segment arc splice). The scaling feature is horrible; there is no way to scale an imported drawing by 10%,50% etc... Also CADTouch almost forces you to exit and then re-enter as the selected tools freeze from time to time.

Over all it's a great concept, but needs an update with more features and polished interface.

How about a pro's review?

I love CADTouch. I am a registered Autodesk AutoCAD Professional. I am listed on the Autodesk website under the 2015 certified Professionals. CADTouch is excellent for on the go drawing. I am giving it a 5 star rating based on price and function. The 3D rendering tool is nice to have for viewing objects. Anyone who can't understand the tutorials needs to finish elementary school before using CADTouch. It is an excellent tool. Thank you guys. This is well worth the money!!!!!!!

Limited capabilities. Some bugs found.

CADTouch is very limited and contains some bugs. Some features may be interesting, but I understand we can't have a Mercedes for the price of a bicycle.
When the "Move" function is selected, the system should just move the object, but instead, sometimes, a bug is triggered, and it just keeps copying, no matter which "Move" or "Copy" selection is activated.
Sometimes, when copying an object, the previous one, which was a continuous line object, changes to a dashed line, and remains like that until we go to the line types menu and switch back to a continuous line.
There are some other minor bugs.

Looks good, functions ok.

This is a simple app to use, until you try to input line lengths. I have played around with entering 9'9 1/4" into the line length input screen. The bar disappears as soon as I hit the / button. This creates a line of 9' 91", or 16' 7/12". I played with CADTouch for a few frustrating hours to input the measurements I need for an already built room. I'm trying to get the wall layout done so I can draw out custom shelves for the room. Everything functions like it should, except for the length input function in imperial units.

Excellent cad app!

Have used autocad for years and have tried several iPad cad oriented apps but none have the performance that this one does. Handles dwg drawings with ease.....and can create new dwg which most others don't have the tools to work with....great depth. Will modify circle sizes, work dimension down to 1/16", arc tool can sized, shaped, and even straightened. It takes digging to find the application of some tools but works great. Take the time and try the demo.

Good, but short of great

I have found CADTouch to be one of the easier to learn and use, but several functions fall short of expectation. The trim function is limited at best and can only be used between lines. Arcs cannot be drawn and trimmed for example.

Pro version (required to save drawings) is reasonably priced, but given the opportunity, not sure I would buy it again.

Useful and flexible

I have used this product to create Tiny Home designs and details for a project I plan to build. While the program doesn't have all the features of a full blown CAD program you can't argue with what you get for the money. Fast, refresh and simple controls. Good deal!

Great!

This is just the program I was looking for. I only wish it would dimension in inches only. I build custom cabinetry and iches are my standard. I am re doing this because the first time I did the review I forgot to make it five stars and it is definitely a five star program. Sorry for the mistake on my last review

Game is too hard

I couldn't make itpast the stove rotation level, on tutorial mode. Read, re read, googled, tried it all. Rotate you Damon stove!. Seriously though, this might be the kind of app that is only useful if you have been a veteran user of$10,000 software in a professional capacity. I really expected to make it past the tutorial.

Works well on DWG files

I like this program. Probably A four or five star for a basic cad program. Seems to be very efficient with DWG files. I upgraded in order to import my files.
11$$ is a little high at this point, but I don't mind contributing to a good start app for editing simple 2d graphics on the go.

Not sure just yet

I want to like CADTouch but I'm finding it difficult figuring out basic commands such as moving a poly line rectangle object that I've drawn.
