Amazing study feature removed with latest update

Hello. I’ve been using your app for years and it’s one of the best study tools available on iOS. I was extremely surprised to see in the latest update released this week that in the interlinear you NO LONGER can see where a Strong’s number is used for the corresponding Hebrew or Greek word you want to study. For instance there are several words used for wisdom in proverbs. I used to could pick a verse, click on the word for wisdom and see all verses where the word was used. That I can still do but it NO LONGER shows in the list of scriptures where the Strong’s word I’m researching was actually used. Sometimes the word wisdom can be used twice in the same verse but 2 different Hebrew words are used. Well I no longer can see which is used for the word I’m currently studying! I just know it’s one of them but I can’t tell which one unless I actually go into that verse and study it separately. This is a major feature loss and I’m shocked this was removed. Please let us see the Strong’s numbers in the list of usage verses again. Thanks!

Update:
Thanks for your response. You can see the Strong’s numbers for all verses using a word AS LONG as you go to interlinear in the KJV version. I wish it was with any translation like before but at least you can still access it. This is still the best bible study app on the store!

Sola Scrriptura • Solus Christus • Soli Deo Gloria

The Word of God is my barometer for life; for spiritual life. The Blue Letter Bible enables me to have His Word available at times I don't have my Bible. It is truly a "user friendly" App. Blue Letter Bible also has a great website. I've been blessed with the opportunity to meet some of the Blue Letter Staff on a couple of occasions and from them, learn much more about BlueLetterBible and about Blue Letter's ministry. It is obviously to make God's Word available to more souls. It is a God honoring ministry • Soli Deo Gloria. BlueLetterBible contains many wonderful features: a) Search; b) Ability to highlight text; c) Background color/text color change; d) Audio read; and e) Scroll feature to name a few. I have found BlueLetterBible 's features to be consistently reliable. The Blue Letter App doesn't contain a lot of extraneous, options (or programs) to distract from the pure Word of God as do some Bible Apps. In essence, The Blue Letter Bible provides one with the opportunity to have The Word in an unclouded format. In a format in which one needn't be concerned with the potentially misleading opinions of man. I love the purity of The Word of God and, with the assistance of The Holy Spirit, drawing nigh Him through His precious Word. When I consider The Blue Letter Bible App, I am made mindful of the monicker "Sola Scriptura"! Thank you Blue Letter Bible for your wonderful App!

Glitches

Often I find in your search engine when looking for a verse by using a word or phrase inconsistent. When the verse won’t appear in my search but the word or words do appear in the verse very frustrating. Also because I really love and use your Cross Reference to get parallel scriptures to further my understanding I’ve found inconsistencies there too. For instance in Revelation 3:10 where Christ is saying He will keep the Church of Philadelphia from the hour of trial that will come upon the whole world to test those who “dwell on the earth”. In your TSk portion, you don’t even reference “dwell on earth” in your categories of search. Notice the long list direct references and even a couple of indirect references as an example: Revelation 6:10,11:10,13:8,14,14:617:8 with direct quotes “who dwell on earth”. Revelation12:10 “inhabitants of the earth’; 13:12 “... and those who dwell in it” are indirect references.

I have used the BLB for the last 15+ years and it was originally recommended to me by the late Chuck Missler and I especially love the # of Bibles available for cross references and the easy to use format of seeing them at a glance. Over the years the above mentioned discrepancies have frustrated me and I thought you could use this feed back to make BLB even better. Thanks for all that you’ve done and will continue to do to make Bible illiteracy a thing of the past.

True to the ancient scriptures best of allll I've downloaded!

This is been an incredible Bible to study out of I've been sitting with my grandfather long distance and this has helped us so much. I would like to say also that this by far is completely perfect in Word for Word chapter by chapter verse by verse perfection they made sure to get it right. And other Bibles I've heard them say the word Jew instead of Israel or the tribe of Judah instead of Israel which is the original translation you have to go back to the beginning translations to understand what the new were Bibles have changed. The new were Bibles have changed if these things against God and against man and they will reap the consequences in heaven. Never deface the Bible it is a beautiful poetic studying theology God bless America where at least I know I'm free a God-given right that we should never let go of this Bible gives it that credibility a human right God given that we are free this Bible helps you to go back-and-forth chapter by chapter verse by verse and reference new and old testament genesis words often referenced in John and Matthew by Jesus it's a beautiful scripture wonderful to share with your family.

Life changer

BLB was my first virtual bible and I was so excited when I got it because I could take my bible any where I wanted to go, but also God had a plan for me to change someone’s life with it. BLB really is a life changer. My friend and her parents were not Christians and her parents were actually against it too. One day when I was in 5th grade (or fourth I don’t remember) we were at home after school and I explained that I was a Christian and I explained what my life goals were as a Christian; she was automatically hooked and she was like “Hey, I want to be a Christian too.” After a year or so she wanted a bible like I had and so I suggested BLB and invited her to church. Sadly, her parents were, and are against it, so of course they said no. I was really disappointed and kind of frustrated because if your child wants to believe the truth then you should let them believe the truth. But after studying BLB and reading bible verses, she is now a truly wonderful believer. Please keep spreading the word of God and His love, and keep inspiring people to learn about you. And if you are wanting to become a Christian I will pray for you and I strongly suggest BLB.

Six stars, best Bible study tool ever

I don’t usually write reviews for apps but this is the one exception. I use this Bible app almost every time I study my Bible. BlueLetterBible has everything—concordances, loads of really great and well-written commentaries, and not to mention the cross-reference feature where you can read two translations side-by-side. I recommend this Bible app to all of my Christian friends now. The commentaries have helped me to better understand difficult passages of the Bible, and the interlinear concordance has helped me so much when I want to study scripture more in depth. The strong’s definition is great, but the other dictionary-like detailed definitions that come with it are even better. I wish I could rate this more than five stars. And the fact that it is completely free testifies to the greatness of BlueLetterBible , that the maker of BlueLetterBible was more concerned about people freely studying the Bible and having the study tools they needed rather than making a profit. I can say without hesitation that the makers of the Blue Letter Bible are truly, in unironically doing the Lord’s work.

It is like having my full desktop Bible study software all in 1 place on my phone.

My iPhone X no longer supported the good Mantis Bible software I had been using to simply find in the KJV the meanings of the original Hebrew and Greek. I was forced to change. This is a great example of good is the enemy of great, because this software is great.

It is like having my full desktop Bible study software all in 1 place on my phone. It is fast, intuitive, and very thorough. The fact that it is shareware is surprising giving the abundance of features and so far flawless execution. If not free I probably wouldn’t have tried it. I’m so happy I found this and will now gladly contribute to support it.
If you are a Bible student this makes your studying, mobile, quick and effective. Fact check in real time messages your listening to and on the road be confident with any inspirational last minute changes you want to add to improve your own outlines.
This is an unpaid review from a user who has spent about a week exploring its sundry functions.

Seemed almost unusable

Updated review:
Thanks. I was able to turn off all gestures (apparently the simple tap to reach additional information on an individual verse can’t be disabled, so that may be a problem, but less frequent by itself). I changed my rating from one star to four stars. Thanks again.

Original review:
Sorry, but I was trying to stick it out with BlueLetterBible at least until I finished the Bible in a year. But it has just gotten beyond frustrating: Seemingly a dozen different accidental touches or swipes (sometimes when attempting to do something else) cause the page to disappear and (usually) go to the preceding chapter (sometimes a “search” page or something else). If I don’t happen to remember exactly which verse I was on, I have to search through or reread the chapter from the beginning because when I get back to that chapter it always opens at verse 1 automatically, even if I happened to be on verse 47 or whatever when my page disappeared. I don’t want to be angry when I read God’s word—and other Bible apps don’t irritate me so much. I just can’t use this one anymore.

FINALLY! The app I’ve been searching for!

I have been searching for a bible or an app that easily lets me dig deeper into not only every verse, but every Hebrew/Greek word and phrase. Two taps and I have it broken down for me so that I can gain greater context. That’s the feature I’ve been using most but there are so many more features. I am still getting used to BlueLetterBible but I have to say I love it more than the YouVersion app for studying scripture. YouVersion is good for devotionals and has more versions/translations, but BlueLetterBible has the main translations used in America and more study tools. It also opens MUCH faster than YouVersion and does not lag the way YouVersion does. While I have the physical books, I can often get distracted and off track when trying to pull from multiple texts. I like that I can tap twice and get what I was looking for, then go right back into what I was reading without having to clean up and put away multiple texts.

BLB Feedback

BLB app is very easy to use and navigate. Finding a book or verse is very easy using the search button. Unlike Kindle, BLB understands the Bible organization. Most books can be abbreviated with the first three letters in the search bar (e.g. Psa 3 for the third book of Psalms). The left and right arrows at the top right side of the screen make it very easy to scroll across adjacent books. BLB also supports audio playback which I find very useful when driving or exercising (navigation to the audio app could use some improvement). The nicest feature of BLB is the ability to change from one version of a Bible to another while maintaining the location (index) of your current reading. If you read something you don’t follow in NIV, just change to NLT to get a more English translation. It does require you to be online for many of the Bible versions so I don’t know if this would work on the plane yet...
Great app. I highly recommend it.

Used now for years and love this App

The flexibility in this gem of an app is hands down the best out there. I have used BlueLetterBible for several yrs. I’ll estimate 5? I once tried to find another to compare and by far this out does them.

I bookmark, highlight, add notes and refer back often. I also use this as a tool for marking resource references on a project I have been working on for several yrs. in relation to my professional work. Being able to add notes and follow up later is great.

The only thing I wish it had (why it has 4 stars) (if it does I’ve never found a way) is to save all my bookmarks and highlights w notes on all my devices at the same time. So if for example I’m on my iPhone and mark something, It would be really (logical) nice that once back on my iPad I’d be able to find the same marks/notes etc. I’ve found that not to be the case.

My iPad mini , iPad 10” pro and iPad 12”Pro along w my phone all have different notes and high lights. It can be very offsetting to deal with. This is unusual to see these days. Most apps work on all your devices together.

The way I’ve found to work around this is by copying and pasting into my word doc app which does save my file from whatever device I’m using and can pull the same file up and copy paste when later using a different device picking up where I left off. However to have it automatically keep my stuff would be a LOT more user friendly! If it shared I’d give it 5 stars. The rest is great.

Great Bible app, but currently affects Quickview in Mail app

I have been using BLB for a very long time, and I love BlueLetterBible . The search, the resources, the copy/paste, navigation, the ease of use and access to multiple languages. But after the new iOS update, I noticed that PDF attachments in the Mail app wont open in quick view, but rather I had to download and open them in some other app to view them. They were considered BLB PDF files somehow, both on my iPad and iphone. I tried looking in settings, but found nothing related to the issue. I tried deleting BlueLetterBible and it solved the issue in Mail. So I reinstalled it, but the bug reappeared. Deleting BlueLetterBible fixed it every time on each device, re-installing it brought the issue back. Until I can find a way to fix it, I’m currently leaving it uninstalled, because I use mail and am dealing with documents daily. As soon as it’s fixed, I’ll have it back on, because I really am unhappy about having to go without the BLB app. 😩

BLB

I really like BlueLetterBible for its ease of use and functionality. The search option is great but I would like to see an option to search for verses where you don’t know the exact phrasing. Also, currently BlueLetterBible is inconsistent in taking me to exactly the verse I input in the search bar, it will take me to the book and chapter but not always to the exact verse like it use to but i can live with that. One other thing that I don’t like about BlueLetterBible is that it doesn’t open to where I left off reading but to John 3:16. That’s a great verse but I’d rather BlueLetterBible open to where I was studying the last time so I have consistency in my daily bible devotion. I do love the ability to tap on a verse and go right to the study aids though. I’ve not found this in any other bible app and is very convenient. Overall this is my favorite bible app. I look forward to the addition of more translations though.

Like everything...except search

Before I began using BLB I used Olive Tree. I wanted the BLB because of the ability to interchange the different translations easily. I attend a church where different leaders/Pastors use different translations. There is one feature I like on Olive tree a little better is the search feature. When I search a specific word, then look it up and then come back to search for more on the same word, my list of references were still there. However BLB doesn’t seem to save my search results leaving me having to re-type the search word and pull up the list again. It would be nice if BLB retained what I was searching so I can flip from viewing the verse to the search menu easily. I hope that makes sense. I enjoy BlueLetterBible for everything else. I wish there was an easier highlighting method as well. When I press on a verse to highlight...a long menu of multiple features comes up and that can be distracting in the middle of a sermon.

Great app!! Only missing one thing!

Love BlueLetterBible!! Favorite things about this bible app are the many customizable highlighting options. You can have many colors and can create your own. You can even transfer your highlights if you use BlueLetterBible on another device! I can also view and print the various highlighted categories..so if I want to view or print all the scriptures I highlighted yellow I can do that! Also I like the auto scroll feature for if I’m on the elliptical or great for treadmill or just if you’re too tired or lazy to scroll! I like the various theme selections, as well as the font size selection.. and the new feature where you can highlight or copy multiple verses at the same time..also the fact that I can listen to the Bible on audio now is awesome! The ONLY complaint I have is that there are not enough bible translations!!! I would like to have the message and the passion translations for example 😀It would be 5 stars if it weren’t for that! GREAT app!! 💫

Takes you to the next level in context

Languages don’t always perfectly translate. For instance English has one word for love but Greek has several. So when Jesus is asking Peter do you love me, BlueLetterBible can tell you whether Jesus and Peter are talking about brotherly love or Agape love etc., and what those words mean.
I have learned to take a passage and define each word in the concordance in its original language. I can get exhaustive definitions on a particular word to help better understand the intent of the writer. In the past I used that giant book The Strongs Exhaustive Concordance but BlueLetterBible makes it quick and easy and you can travel with it.
It has taught me that no version/translation is perfect in its interpretation. When you compare a scripture in several versions that seem to not be in agreement, BlueLetterBible can help you decide which one is closer to the intent of the writer.
I could give several examples of scriptures that are widely quoted but perhaps not understood due to the research that is available in BlueLetterBible.
Look up Psalm 8:4-5 for a good example.
You can also easily see in what other scriptures a particular word is used in the Bible to help better define it, especially applying the rule of the first use (the way it was used the first time should be the way we use it throughout).

Great for study

There are many options to read the Bible, but sometimes you really find you need to study the word of God to understand the message. BLB provides an immediate access to various commentaries, actual word for word translation of the original language of the text, and a comparison of multiple translations to help understand what our Lord wanted us to know in reading each part.

Without digging deeper and studying some scripture, we miss out n a lot of what is being relayed to us. Our language and everyday vernacular today is so different from that of the writers and we t no to skip over things that are not familiar, but with the context of the meaning from the culture in which it was written, we can finally get the full message and understand.

Thanks so much for putting this application together. I try to use it every morning for my study.

For Serious Bible Students

I do a lot of detailed Bible study where I'm constantly in the Greek, it's grammar, and in the Hebrew, and this is where Blue Letter Bible (BLB) is key! Even with my other costly Bible/lexicon programs, I use Blue Letter Bible 99.5% of the time. Everything I need is right there at my fingertips and easy access: The Greek, Hebrew, grammar, lexicons, concordance, cross reference, Bible dictionaries, commentaries, different English versions, multiple language comparisons, devotional readings everything! Like I said, I have expensive Bible Greek/Hebrew lexicon programs on my computer. However, I use BLB 99% of the time for almost everything, because its right there, and the lexicons go into the proper In-depth detail on vocabulary, grammar, and language structure that I need for my study.. Anyone who are serious students of the Word of God, and enjoys Detailed Bible Study should get BLB, I highly recommend it.....

Praise The Lord, great app!

This is how a real Christian app should be! Free, easy to use, so many useful tools, no strings attached. So many websites and apps that are Christian require payments, sometimes big ones just to see the content! Not cool when you're broke and just trying to get some Holy Ghost fuel. Great for studying into Gods word, and coming to a concluding in your heart what God really meant on certain words/phrases, before they were ever changed. I've been looking for bibles different than NIV, as I don't believe and get frustrated with at least half of the changes to it, and word replacements/alterations to make it "modern friendly" there is a point when that goes too far. I'm broke, and I'd donate to BlueLetterBible if needed. I recommend BlueLetterBible for die-hard, true(non judgemental) Christian's, who believe in the true Jesus Christ, who died and rose again 👍

Great app

It’s very helpful to have the word of God, not only hidden in our hearts, but to also have it available to share with others as the Spirit leads. There are some places where the Bible might distract, but the iphone app does not.
The doctors office is one of those places.. Please pray for my doctor (God knows who he is). My doctor is listening and learning through the use of BlueLetterBible, and of course through the work and make ministry of the Holy Spirit. Imagine a man who must inform his patient that they may only have weeks or days to live, but in the same moment also be able to convey hope as the apostle Paul did when it appeared that all hope was taken away upon the treacherous sea. Yes! We will all die someday or the vessel containing our soul will be lost, but be of good cheer, our souls will live eternally through the cross of Jesus Christ...

Studying blessings

It has been such a joy to read and study through this site. The love and accuracy of many that are part of the this site sharing their interpretation on the Bible verses are so gifted and blessed I thank God for any of them from Spurge to David Guzic and all others dedicating their lives to bring an understanding that I believe is revealed to them as an instrument to make our views of our Lord Jesus as the Word to come to us to facilitating an spiritual growth, blessing each one of us with an easier and particular or broader view still limited to His words which I believe we are limited to comprehend the extent of His message but enough until we meet Him in heaven as I believe as humans and sinners we can only grasp what our hearts ca hear as He spoke to Paul “ my grace is sufficient to you”. Can we really understand the beauty and full meaning of Grace? Is immeasurable. May God continue to bless all that are part of Blue Letter Bible and some other similar sites dedicating their lives to share Jesus with us and may all be humble and may them be open to the Holy Spirit to is guide them with a pure heart. Love you all. Thank you Jesus for blessing this site and make an instrument to share with us to share with others your love for us. In Christ Jesus.
