Invasive ads

I realize that ads are necessary to support the developers of this very useful app, but they are very hard to skip - you have to wait for the full ad to load in order to get the skip button. If you’re in the basement of a hospital with poor reception, the ad may never load and you’re stuck with a blank screen! There should be a timer that gets rid of the ad after 10 seconds if it doesn’t load.

Great Ophthalmology App

Best eye app available. Love the testing tools. Great for coding and forums. Love the calculators. A lot of information just sometimes hard to find it. Kudos.

This used to be user friendly.

Not sure what happened. This used to be user friendly. Now I can’t find anything.

EyeHandbook is FANTASTIC!
Sending to my staff to utilize!

Obnoxious ads

Great app marred by advertising pop-ups and overlays that repeat immediately after you skip or close them. I would gladly pay to avoid the nuisance. Pass.

Great for neurologists too

I must say, this may be one of if not the best program I have used on my iPhone. It is very useful. As a neurologist I find it very helpful especially okn tape among other features. I think you would be well served to group together some functions for neuro-opth. Then you could market this to neurologists too. Have a red screen to test for color desaturation for optic neuritis. Also maybe some other functions would be good as well whenever it's updated next. Lastly I would recommend making EyeHandbook less than 10mb if possible. That way more ppl would be willing to try it. The main program could be same size, but maybe pick and choose functions to keep size down. Having to only use wifi is a deterrent in trying an app. Thanks again.

Doesn’t work

Not sure if it’s the new iOS but nothing loads.

Not very useful

Poor reference for eye emergencies.

Not impressed on iPad

I'm an O.D. I got this ap because I thought it would be an easy way to browse all the journals in one place and maybe brush up on some conditions I don't see too often. I guess it's not meant for iPad because you have to magnify from iphone size to fill the screen, which makes the print look faded and blurry. Also it doesn't respond to tilting the iPad for landscape. You can't pinch to zoom or expand, all of which makes it impossible to read a journal article comfortably.
I was hoping for nice images of conditions, but they are not hi res and there's only one pic per disease, and it's not at all comprehensive as far as number of conditions mentioned. I was also hoping for something I could show to a patient in explaining common conditions, but even the description of blepharitis or dry eye is too incomplete to be of any use.
The resolution is even too bad to use the near point cards, and I couldn't get the Ishihara color vision test to show the actual testing cards. It only shows the example plate with the 12 but won't go on to the rest.
I'm giving it two stars only because it might be of use for someone starting to work in the eye care field as a tech or optician wanting to learn just basics.

Awesome!!!

I can not express how great EyeHandbook is! If you are in the field of eye care then this is the most comprehensive program that I have ever seen. They are others but they just don't put it all together like this one. I have used the previous version and i have used the current one with out any problems. If your career is not in the eye care field then I can see how people would not understand what they are looking at or have. This is an app for the professionals not for the lay person. With that in mind I would gladly give EyeHandbook 5 of 5 any day of the week!

Useful pocket app

The recent update fixed the crashing issue and removed the required entry of personal info. The new interface is clean and intuitive. It has a lot of useful information and many areas that could use some filling out or clarification (the risk of summarizing complicated medical illnesses in 1 iphone screen). The bedside testing items have proven useful. Since EyeHandbook has a wide intended audience, they may wish to provide an info icon on screens with some explanations -- for example, the IOL calculation and the vertex distance calculation -- I assume the first formula is SRK and I can guess what the 3 columns on the distance calculations are but titles or background would be helpful. As a free app with steady improvement, it is hard to beat.

Indispensable Tool for an Ophthalmologist!

I am a first year resident in ophthalmology and find this application absolutely essential, especially while on call. While improvements can always be made, I find this application well designed, helpful and very functional. The ability to search is indispensable, especially for someone who is still just trying to learn the complicated terminology of ophthalmology. Every update has continually improved this application and I look forward to future releases. I would willingly pay for this as well...

Wonderful resource

I really love EyeHandbook. I have found the near vision charts, Ishihara color plates, and the fixation pictures invaluable when seeing inpatient or ER consults. This is by far the most comprehensive site for ophthalmologic information. I would love it if those providers who ask for advice provided follow up. I have given my advice on a few patients, and it is always great to hear what worked and what didn't. Highly recommended!

Nice beginning

EyeHandbook certainly has its flaws, but is exponentially more comprehensive than any other eye related app. There are a few typographical errors, but the information is still accurate.

I would like to see improvements in the IOL power calculator. We need more detail, like the patient's target refraction for a given lens power, data for sulcus and AC lenses ,and a choice of equations to use.

Overall, EyeHandbook is great. I hope there are future versions with some refining of information and functionality.

Best App I've Ever Seen

This is the first app I've felt passionate enough about to post a review. This one does everything you could possibly ask for in regards to general eye examination and care. I'm a medical student and already finding EyeHandbook indispensable. I hope you come out with other medical apps as good ad this one. I'd gladly pay high prices for apps like this. Thanks!

Poorly organized app

Here's an example. Try to find info about 3rd nerve palsy. There is no global search function so you have to look under a tab. Try AAO tab. Still can't search, so you try EyeWiki. No luck. Look under Summary Benchmarks. Nope, not there either. OK, back out of AAO tab and try Physician tab. Let's see, how about EHB Manual. No search feature so scroll down. Still not there. Look under categories, just incase you scrolled right past it. Choose Neuro-Ophthalmology. Not listed, sorry. Back out of EHB Manual and try References. Still can't search. Best guess: DX You Can't Miss. Scroll down...I FINALLY FOUND IT.

Lifesaving App

As an ophtho resident EyeHandbook saves both time and energy! With quick references in clinic as well as tests I can perform while on call! Not to mention the media consent so as to send pics from the ED to attendings for immediate feedback for better patient care. The landmark studies section also prepares me better for pimping sessions!

By

Thorough and well organized

Wow! The most complete and best organized reference tool for ophtho. Has pics of hundreds of disease states, path slides, mneumonics, ddx lists, acronyms, and even reviews of portant papers. Flawless execution. The only thing I would add is some sort of flashcard system to test yourself on all the info.

Wonderful app

Keep up the great work! I just downloaded it and haven't had the chance to use it on a patient but there are definitely quite a few helpful things in EyeHandbook. Thank you!

Very helpful overall

I have been using EyeHandbook for three or four years now since its inception and have been very happy with the progress. I am just downloaded ALT/SLT video but was very disappointed in its content. I will be very hesitant before ordering any further videos. I wonder if there is a way to preview the downloaded AAO videos prior to purchasing.

Terrific resource App

Great and very handy source of important information that help in testing and taking care of Ophthalmologic problems!

Ads

Unsure if there is a paid version to remove ads but having them pop up every 2 seconds without exaggeration when trying to use EyeHandbook is infuriating.

Unable to make account

I am new to the field of ophthalmology as an ophthalmic tech but am unable to create an account. I don’t have any NPI or registration number and when I select “Other Ophthalmic Technician” in the “Profession” tab, EyeHandbook does not let me register.

No CPT codes available

EyeHandbook was great for both ICD10 and CPT codes. Unfortunately, with the new update that CPT codes are not available which is a shape because it was the 1ry reason I used EyeHandbook.
