I use CommanderCompass on flights, all you need to do is window seat. Keep the WiFi ON, with aero plane mode ON. It takes few minutes to lock in to the GPS satellite, and gets map data from the flight WIFI.. worked good on my iPhone 6,.. iPhone 7 has some weak GPS receiver, takes few extra minutes to lock in to gps satellites.

Thank you for this beautiful program when the program is updated because the old maps I live in Iraq is very old and landmarks I hope you reply

Another good one

„North“ as shown in CommanderCompass is about 40 degrees off to where it really is. Calibration does not change anything. This is completely worthless and potentially dangerous if you have to rely on it.

Glade I Get The real Deal

....now if I could only remove the "standard" compass from my 3GS which is now just wasting prime menu space. I've also dumped all of the "Find Your Car" apps I've tried because they are chicken feed compared to this. CommanderCompass was also very useful when I was away traveling to mark locations not easily described by street addresses (for my conventional car GPS).
Apps like these are what makes the 3GS so much more than just a phone.

Pretty app, and seems to be stable on a 4S, but I'm giving it only 3 stars for the cheezy rip-off marketing: Better to get Spyglass by the same developer, unless you're stuck as a fighter pilot wanabee. Although CC's screen shots look like your looking through the camera, You're Not (it's pretend night vision green). Spyglass is exactly the same, except more features and more practical: it works like a theodolite, a sighting compass with elevation and GPS coordinates included, and you can take a picture of it. (Wanted features of Spyglass, bought Commander Compass by mistake, then bought Spyglass, which is essentially a major upgrade to CC, for the same price. CC should be the 99 cent lite version.) There's also Theodolite, similar but different, by another developer.

CommanderCompass is absolutely fantasfabulous!!! I just drove from Phoenix/Globe area, a 6-7 hour drive, starting off at 9.30 pm and got to Albuquerque at about 4 am, with stops. I had CommanderCompass on, next to me and it was totally rad, looking at the range finder and looking at how it showed to road and tne details. Just fantastic!! I keep using CommanderCompass all the time....it's also very entertaining, I love looking at the compass as we drive. And I love the color of it. Deborah Anne

App is great in function for why I purchased it but suggesting I need to include a review so that updates continue is a little sketchy. I expect necessary updates and product support for my purchase whether the product generates the desired margin of profit or not. I'm a customer already and I don't appreciate being asked for my endorsement for free in a screen built into CommanderCompass .

The combination of compass and reasonably recent satellite mapping is a great tool for our line of work. Great for coordinating perimeters and getting a quick overhead peep at a location you have to deal with. Also very good for rural work and search and rescue. Very good tool to help make sure you make it home at the end of shift. The only downside is the overlay writing which could better stand out and contrast against the background than it is and makes it a little hard to read sometimes.

Awesome app once you really start to figure out how to use it. I use it mostly for hunting and it is great for that. But, if you are going to get the paid version get spyglass which is the same app with more functionality like a camera that is cool for pics in the field of features you want to remember and a range finder as well as augmented reality if you need that for anything.

This is even better than the "Lensatic" compass they had us navigate with during the survival training at Stead AFB. If you added a couple of "clip on" sights it would approach perfection as a navigation instrument. Of course, the iPad is too large to fit in any pocket of a flight suit so you couldn't have it with you after bailing out of your plane.

I have the overlay set clear with red lettering; looks Fantastic. I really appreciate the GPS tracker and the zooming function. CommanderCompass has made MiPhone a part of Mi. While exploring on Mi motorcycle I have it fixed to Mi wrist, so I can get a glimpse of all possible back roads. Truly Mi favourite app. All of those that rate this lower than Five Stars: Operator Error! Thanks!
