Customer service is the WORST!!!

2024-11-18

UPDATE: After using for nearly a year I finally had it. Endomondo didn’t crash as often, but it started missing my voice cues (miles/heart rate/etc). Sometimes it would miss 2-3. Finally, and probably the most damning, is that once I started trying out other apps I discovered that the this app app was very inaccurate in calculating distance. It was off by 1/4 mile over a 5 mile run. That’s highly unacceptable. Go with Map My Run. It’s the best of the lot for the iWatch.

I started using Endomondo for my iWatch 3 for short runs and it worked fine. Bust as my runs increased in time, I started getting crashes after about 30 minutes. It would suddenly just stop working and I’d finish my run without it being tracked. I contacted customer service and the response was that my issue needed to be kicked up to someone who was more knowledgeable in the tech. That was TWO MONTHS AGO! I’ve tried reaching out to the original contact with no response. I had purchased the year and now I’ve just deleted Endomondo and am using Runkeeper for free and it’s great. Don’t waste your time.

New release broke integration between Apple Watch and phone app

2024-11-18

Loved Endomondo but when they decided to make watch standalone app, you can no longer use the phone app for displaying heart rate or anything on the dashboard from the watch. Support told me this was by design.

Sure - if doing something outdoors makes carrying the phone impractical then it makes sense. But for those who are doing aerobics on older machines like elliptical, Endomondo on the phone seated on the machine is more practical than trying to look at the watch. As someone in tech, you should always cover more use cases vs dropping them. The watch app is ok at best and really not as good as Endomondo that Apple provides. If this app was really trying to create value above what is native with Apple then they would never have dropped the mirroring between watch app and the phone app. I did not renew my annual premium because of this change. Too bad as I really liked how it worked before.

Switching to Runkeeper

2024-11-18

The latest release broke the integration between the Apple Watch and the phone apps. According to their website, this is intended behavior: “It's not possible to use the new app tethered with the iPhone (Therefore it's no longer possible to use the watch app as a viewer for the phone app or vice versa.)” This is what I used the watch app for!!! If you start an activity using the watch, auto-pause and audio no longer work. If you start an activity using the phone, you no longer see a status screen on your watch.

I’ve used this app for years, but it’s gotten worse and worse lately. This is the final straw. I will be switching to Runkeeper - their watch app works exactly the way this app’s used to.

Longtime user

2024-11-18

Since Endomondo update on Apple Watch, I have lost my workout data due to synchronizing issues For some reason, the this app app loses GPS signal within a few minutes of the workout and once I “finish” the workout, it just disappears. I discovered it is going to the a section called “I unsynchronized workouts.” During my last two bike rides, a 45 mile ride lost data/signal about 9 miles in and nothing was tracked and data was saved in Endomondo . Also, on a 50 mile ride, it lost signal within a few minutes of my house and still didn’t track data. What’s interesting the my Activity app within the iPhone shows that something was registering from this app. I had distance, time, and calories burned. But it didn’t show mile Splits and additional data. Interesting that Endomondo is tracking, but not displaying properly. Please fix!!! I would hate to lose over 5 years of workouts tracked. But I considering switching to another app.

Improvements have made it worse

2024-11-18

I appreciate the standalone watch capability, but that has all but ruined the conjunction between watch and phone. I like that the watch can track my pulse and that the phone has the display. When biking, I mount my phone on the handlebars as a speedometer and instant display for all info. I was excited to see that this app finally shows as a workout in the Activity app, however many workouts go unauthorized. There's one that is now 20 hours old, still showing on the watch, that hasn't synched.

You had a 4 star app and by making it better you turned it into a 2 star app.

Not the best

2024-11-18

I was trying Strava and RunKeeper, and now wanted to try this app. I got the free trial of premium and started with a training plan on phone. I’m surprised that Endomondo in watch didn’t automatically start and thereby I lost the heartbeat tracking. Also it’s not showing me the stats while running in watch app (cos it didn’t start when I started the work out). This way I’ve to rely only on phone.

Alternatively I thought I could start the run from watch but it doesn’t give me an option to choose my training plan. So what’s the point of the watch app. I think I’ll take the RunKeeper premium even if it’s 10$ more yearly.

Very good overall, latest update is disappointing

2024-11-18

I have been using this app for about 6 years and have always looked forward to and enjoyed the updates. However, since the latest rounds of updates, changing the watch app to a stand-alone app I am a bit disappointed. Since the update I can no longer control the phone app with the watch app. If you want to see your progress on the watch you now have to start your workout from the watch. I like the concept, but you lose more than you gain. Coaching and progress updates are not available from the watch and I can never tell if I have reach a distance split. Also not all data points are shown in your phone watch after a workout is completed from the watch. Please consider returning watch/app functions once available. Seems the latest version is best suited watches with built in GPS.

Was great. Now it’s just okay.

2024-11-18

However it is still the best available for tracking my workouts. I hate subscriptions. I bought my house. I bought my car. I bought my phone and I bought my computer and other tools. Renting and subscribing wastes money.

I had purchased an upgrade when I started using Endomondo years ago. It is no longer available. I understand the developers need to make a buck but I can do more with a gps app, a spreadsheet, and a stop watch than I can with this app. At one time it allowed users limited access to basic stats and you could export them to Excel for more analysis. Not anymore. It seems like every update takes away more functionality.

Poor Audio Coach Quality with iOS 12 (iPhone)

2024-11-18

I did a software update on my iPhone 7 for iOS 12 last night and was disappointed on my run today to have my this app Audio Coach voice be a robotic male that I can barely hear or understand. He even says words incorrectly (pronounces resume like something you submit for a job instead of continuing my workout). I am convinced the audio in Endomondo has a problem with iOS 12.

Please find a fix soon! Or I will have to change to a different workout app. The audio Coach is one of my favorite features and has helped me through multiple half marathon races!!! I have been with this app for about 5 years.

Seems to be getting worse

2024-11-18

I have used this app for approximately 6 years now and just recently this app and Iwatch have stopped syncing correctly with one another. All my workouts prior to 2019 have been erased from my activity. Just today I ran for 1 hour and my iwatch activity says I ran for 50 minutes. Calories burned for Iwatch activity says 704 but this app says 594. My average is around 875. Something isn’t working properly. Possibly this app or Iwatch activity.

I have contacted customer support for both and both blame each other. I’m guessing it’s probably time to move onto another app.

Good app — if the GPS tracker works

2024-11-18

I like Endomondo. I’ve been using it for over a year to track my various fitness activities. I really like how it’s all in one, tracking a lot of activities in just one app.

Unfortunately, I have decided to delete it. Why? The GPS tracker has become increasingly flaky. My bike ride today is a perfect example. Mostly sunny day, few clouds – and it would not interface with the GPS in my iPhone. Kept saying that GPS was unavailable. I tried restarting Endomondo , I tried restarting my phone. Nothing worked. So I essentially lost the record of my ride.

If it was just once in a while, I could live with it. But that problem is becoming more frequent. It’s to the point where I don’t know if my run or ride will be tracked at all or if it start out tracking and drop GPS signal midway.

I might add that my other GPS-enabled apps do not share this issue. So, goodbye, this app and my year’s worth of workout activity.

I Love Endomondo, HOWEVER...

2024-11-18

Update: apparently, I couldn’t find the contact button or I was looking in the wrong place, so my bad.. I never did find the answer to my question, but still love Endomondo . You guys lose a star because you can’t seem to fix the low power mode that premium members enjoy. Battery drains fast now. Please fix!

I use this app all the time, and usually love, love love it! HOWEVER, contacting customer support is nearly impossible! Please, customer support, reach out to me! Hopefully, you can find my info and send me an email or something, because I have absolutely no idea how to contact you guys. I have an issue with the challenges my friends and I create to help motivate us, and it’s very frustrating when a challenge doesn’t sync to show the correct winner.

OS update causes issues

2024-11-18

Since updating to iOS 11 on my phone and WatchOS 4 on my watch, I frequently get a message on the watch indicating unable to connect to the iPhone. Not always, but more often than not. I always have the phone with me and it is typically within 24 inches of the watch. Endomondo worked flawlessly before the OS updates.

Updated 10/23: Loaded new update today in hopes the watch display issue was resolved- it wasn’t. App does not display on watch at all now. Just get message that it cannot connect with the watch.

Almost Perfect

2024-11-18

I love the this app app. Would be 5 stars if it had better integration with the the Activity app on the iPhone, ie. post workouts to the Activity app. The other thing hold me back from rating it 5 stars is that Endomondo is not able to run as a stand alone on the Apple Watch.

As for the other features and interface of Endomondo , that are definitely 5 star worthy. I love the range of activities on Endomondo as well as the post workout stats!! Even with the fore mentioned negatives, I would highly recommend this app to anyone!!!

Something changed with last update

2024-11-18

I’ve been using Endomondo for years and I think it is great. I primarily use it to record distance and time on my walks. However, recently when I have set the exercise to walking (as I do every morning) it changes to another sport during the course of my walk. Just this morning it switched to basketball. And it has is also switched to other sports that I do not even participate in.

I am with the previous reviewer. There is something off in the update.
