Terribly unbalanced

I’ve used this app as a paying customer for many years and it seems like over time the user experience has grown exponentially worse. I think the tipping point was reached with the “who viewed you” feature. I liked that feature at first, but have come to realize that it has a dark side. The platform doesn’t do well at all with matching people based on their interests or compatible traits, and because of that I’ve realized many users have taken to using blocks as a sort of filter. A typical scenario I keep running into is getting blocked by a user I haven’t even interacted with. I might just be looking at their photos and “poof!” they’re gone. My assumption is that they must have seen me on “who viewed you” and then decided to block me. Well, good riddance, but its still a very disheartening thing that happens constantly.

Aside from those problems, fending off creepers is a constant battle. I’d like to spend more words on my profile talking about my interests and the kinds of friends I’d like to meet (yes, I look for friendships) instead of trying to jam into that very limited space what I am not looking for plus maybe a short visit sentence about me. The character limit is infuriating.

With that said, I think this will be my last month carrying an active subscription. I think I’ll prefer a different platform where people actually talk like decent respectful human beings instead of objectifying everyone as hot or not and blocking them accordingly.

Horrible

I have been using Grindr for several years for what Grindr is used for. Then on the day I decide to purchase a one month membership to get the Xtra features I was banned without notice. I thought it to be a technical glitch so I reached out to the support for them and asked for reasons on the ban and they said all I have todo is appeal the ban. I went a week without word back, and reached out again and again. Then I received a email back that only said that I now have a lifetime ban and that I’m screwed because I purchased it, but better cancel my subscription or they will keep billing me. The only thing they said why I was banned was because of community guidelines. I asked for clarification on what I violated because I had no nudity, no foul language, no in appropriate speech, and as a person I don’t talk bad about other people.
This is a horrible app, if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. And they are no help in trying to rectify the situation. The language that they used in there correspondence with me makes me feel like I am a bad person, and being punished for something that never happened. I have been warned about random people getting banned for no reason then get excommunicated for absolutely no reason. Shame on the company this app, Inc. same on what you do to loyal customers and I hope this prevents you from marking any money off of your next victim. The essential stole from me and now won’t tell me why. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!!!

My account got banned for no reason and Grindr support is nonexistent

I went to a guys place 15 miles away and when I got there he had told me to “kms”, then proceeded to block me. I was obviously shocked so I decided to warn other by putting his user in my about me and warning others about him. The next day I had found out I had been blocked, I was confused and looked it up. There’s apparently no other way to get your account back unless you file an appeal, so I did. The this app support that reviewed my case didn’t care and told me the decision was final. So I just gave up on that account and tried to create a new account but as soon as I was down creating the account, it would say the account was banned. I’ve tried deleting Grindr , restarting my phone, trying different ways to create a new account, you name it I’ve tried it. All to no avail. I proceeded to reach out to this app support team once again but they again told me they couldn’t do anything and pretty much dismissed my problem. I had been getting tired of Grindr for a while but that just did it for me. What got me was how unhelpful the “support” team was, and how they literally didn’t care about what I had to say or anything. This was two weeks ago and I have not found a solution to my problem and a member of the support team even told me they will not respond to any of my further emails.

Please fix your quality control, Grindr devs

The following is not a helpdesk/end-user problem; it is a long-running QC issue that should not have the buck passed on to us consumers to solve. Pros: The only thing Grindr has going for it in terms of positive user experience is that there are so many people using it. 1 star for the ubiquity. Cons: Unfortunately, for me, with my iPhone 12, my phone constantly freezes any time I download and use Grindr. Further, my phone gets extremely hot to the touch, and my battery drains so drastically that I have to charge it any time I’m using Grindr. These behaviors occur only when I have this app running. If I kill Grindr , my phone is fine. When I delete Grindr , my phone is fine. I’ve yet to do an iOS restore as a last-stitch effort, but in this nearly Web 3 era and decades of smart phones, how can this one app crash my phone so badly? I’ll tell you: sometimes I can’t even kill Grindr for minutes; the entire phone becomes unresponsive. Have you read their version update logs? It’s a generic description each time. What are the developers actually fixing with the plethora of versions being released? How about focusing on RAM and CPU usage? Very limited recommendation and I would never pay for it at this point. Minus 4 stars for nearly melting my phone’s internals—I’m guessing it’s the CPU overheating.

All the reviews are fake!

Edit!!!!! I have been reporting fake accounts, I talked to one account and they seemed fake but sent a video showing they was “real”. They send their location and their address. and right when I show up I knock and it was an old couple who said no one young lived there and when I got back on Grindr it was a fake account asking for a steam pay account. This account stayed up for 6 days before being taken down!!! Someone needs to be taking the owners of this app to court for this stuff!!
Grindr is FULL of fake accounts, when they are reported NOTHING happens to them! At all. They upload blurry photos they got off google and then they will tag a location asking for gift cards or credit card info, others will say “tired of Grindr go here and enjoy” and there’s about 2 of those messages a day. So aside from the HORRIBLE amount of spam and scammers they OVERRRRR charge for a monthly membership..I’m sorry...$20 a month to see who’s 10+ miles away...? Or $20 a month to see who is a top or bottom..like really...? You can buy a Netflix membership for cheaper then they charge just for a few things. (100% not worth that price.) Grindr is by far one of the worst “dating” or “hookups” app I’ve ever seen. They’re nothing but money hungry and they do not care that their users are being scammed and used.

They finally have fixed the problems

Grindr keeps getting more and more and more and more expensive. They change the price every six months it seems. I had been an off and o. Paid subscriber for years. They just have gotten too expensive. Their pic moderation seems extremely biased and is not consistent. If you aren’t a twink or muscle guy any pic seems to get moderated. I have screen shot over 280 pics where the pic wasn’t moderated and mine was. Either it’s racial or body specific. I talking to an attorney to see what type of class action lawsuit can be filed for it to either have them consistently moderate or shut the site down. Also seems like an abnormal amount of bots are allowed now and an overwhelming amount of underage guys are on the site another filing I’m working on with an attorney. Chances are that this app won’t even respond to this review, but I’d steer away from this site.

“Discreet” is not a Filter

It’s an abuse of privilege. DownLow Bros have used and misused the Queer community for their own creeping, sneaking, lying, cheating ways. This lack of sexual respect for the Queer community is an effect of the poorly maintained & contained boundaries of the legal & illegal porn industry disgusting behaviors. Guys just want to show off their junk & that they like to cross dress on the low.

Rather than being a man that stands by his word the men on these apps (JUST LIKE CRAIGSLIST personal sections) they have no repercussions or consequences for misusing the label of “LGBT friendly dating app” no this is not. It’s an app the cisgender rich white men built so they can creep on the low with each other and no one has to know. Advertising their spaces for glory 🕳🕳🕳🕳🕳 or 🔩 me in my car. No one has respect for themselves or the people they want to spray their juices all over.

I’ve used Grindr all over California. San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, Palm Springs. All of the just DownLow Bros trying to get off “right now.” No talk, just pants down & see you around. 🤮 this app. Discreet is not a filter!!!!!!!! LGBTQIA — no “D” for discreet in our community or “DL” for DownLow. Go to your wife & kids & stop trying to creep with me while you’re supposed to be at work.

To be honest

App works well to network. Except glitches can really kill an opportunity. Lost messages sometimes make the other person believe you are not interested- and vice versa. When a regular text comes in on iPhone- Grindr gets weird. I decline the text- but Grindr goes offline- and photos and msgs I have sent prior to message notification are lost. Sometimes when I block soneone/ Grindr gets frozen- I have to turn iPhone off to restart after a long wait- usually 5 minutes. If guys are going to rely on Grindr- it needs to work correctly. Pics and messages need to be sent and received. Otherwise- someone may become offended that you have not responded to their message- and block you. When I send error reports- when I get a notification- what happens? Do you use this ? Or is it a waste of my time.? Until grinder gets kinks worked out- guys will use several apps at once- and not trust Grindr. Also- location goes haywire on occasion. Someone who it says is close by- can be in reality be a thousand miles away. I use Grindr a lot. And wish you had customer service reps available when problems arise. Jg Un

More ads than app

Everything was actually great for once, Grindr worked well, the relentless ads stopped, no issues, then they updated and messed it all up… again. Now Grindr crashes and you have to reload it to make it work again losing messages in the process, updating profiles doesn’t work, there’s an ad for every single function that you want to do on Grindr , and an two ads for everything you don’t as well, and you have to hit the back arrow THREE TIMES after sending a message to get back to profiles. Oh and the moderators continue to subjectively reject the same types of photos for me that they will approve for others. But they swear there’s no problem with discrimination and won’t clarify specifics on why photos are rejected because that process is “confidential” and hide behind very vague photo guidelines. 🙄 The only reason it’s got high ratings is they ask you in Grindr if you’re enjoying it and if so it takes you to the reviews if not it doesn’t. Shady, unethical, annoying, illegal, and tiresome. And bot moderator don’t tell me to reach out for assistance because I have and have gotten no where. F-

GOOD JOB FOR WHAT?!

this app and Jack’d are ANALOGOUS for what?Might as well be one app.
Only thing different is the target audience (this app: privilege/ Jack’d: Minority),
allowing screenshots within chat (this app: Yes/ Jack’d: No)
though in my opinion i think screenshots should be disabled within the whole app itself, but if not at least the profile search page to see who’s nearby out of respect of others’ privacy that they claim they want,
sending pics and videos (Jack’d: yes/ this app: only pics but videos gotta be sent live)
and i get the live video from this app but wen i wanna feel lazy i just wanna send the video i already got that’s been working just fine to confirm that I’m legit because this black don’t crack,
navigational location dropping (Jack’d: yes/ this app: No)
and this app drops the location but you would have to type it out unless you have the world map memorized,
and maybe the subscription but that’s sad in itself should jus be one price in my opinion, but we got profit feens.
Other than that everything is cool i mean there’s probably other things i haven’t covered but there are other issues not pertaining to the apps but individuals themselves that may need time to look at a reflection of themselves to reevaluate and I'm still learning this myself. Just gotta take it a day at a time and use your time wisely.

Dangerous

I’ve had someone use my photos for about a year and each time I reported them and reached out to support the profile would take days to be taken down. That profile also unknowingly harassed some of my direct reports from work which made for a very awkward conversation - something I never thought I’d have to deal with as a manager. Additionally, they actually offer zero support in terms of preventing this type of behavior. I ended up hopping off Grindr hoping they’d get bored but they persisted.

There is no verified status (tinder has), and no internal system that tracks similar photos being uploaded by other users. It’s actually quite funny that when you post a photo you have a period of waiting where it needs to be approved. Why aren’t people caught at this stage for using someone else’s photos? At a bare minimum if you’re charging that much for ultimate - you need to include some safety features. Ideally, incorporate safety for all users.

App works as intended, but is extremely unsafe to use. There is nothing stopping someone from creating a fake profile using your photos and ruining your reputation.

Trash app

Got suspended for no reason, no email and no text to my phone number telling me what I was in violation of. It appears that if a certain number of profiles who don’t like you or are jealous of your profile, the ones you want nothing to with because your 18 and there in their 40s they can report it for no reason and this app blocks that account including your cellular number. It makes it so you can’t make a new account which is odd on why they need our number it’s not like it’s uses it for two step verification I think it’s a violation of privacy. I wanted to continue to talk to decent people that aren’t this app Karen’s or lurking pedophiles, which seems to be an important issue on this platform that this app fails to fix. This will be my last time using this app and if this review doesn’t get through to you all you have to ask yourself what is this app hiding that they don’t want others to see or know. I was bullied to the point others reported my profile for no reason because I wasn’t interested in them. An got victimized by them and this app. I’m waiting for a generic developers response!

Don't Pay for a buggy app

I've never paid for a dating app before. A couple months ago, I decided to give a few a try. While most of them have been great, paid this app is actually worse than the free version. You consistently have to force close Grindr for some of the extra features to work (the recently viewed tab for instance). The paid version has a message search feature. This has never, ever worked. In fact, it's crashed Grindr every time I've ever tried to use it. I don't bother anymore. I recently opened Grindr and found that the interface had reverted to the free version, as if I had cancelled my subscription (I hadn't). This is the second time this has happened.

The worst part? I've opened tickets about most of these issues. They've never fixed any of them after multiple app updates. They just tell you to force close Grindr , or delete and re-download it. Anyway, I'll be cancelling my subscription soon, and I wouldn't recommend the paid version to others. You're just paying for a buggy app where the free version is much more stable.

Can’t get into account

3 days now I have restarted my phone and iPad I have downloaded again same window enter number then I get to many attempts. Customer service reported and they are now not even responding. I cannot enter email address for account it’s the same window when reinstall it every time. I don’t have another number to enter. I can’t get Grindr to do anything other than enter your number. I have done everything that’s on the web to fix this I have reported is over and over. Customer service doesn’t read the issues I’m having they want me to do things that I can’t do because it’s the Sam screen over and over. What is the fix what do we do about this. I have requested a phone number to talk to a live person and can not get one. I have done everything again now 3 days

ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY

this app does not protect its community. They DO NOT uphold their own community guidelines and the photo moderators are a joke. A profile has been reported over ten times for a prominently displayed unobstructed view of an erect penis as its public profile photo. It is clearly pornographic in nature and explicitly banned in the community guidelines. And yet the photo moderators keep letting the user post it. In app reports result in zero action. Emails to the this app help desk get stock responses claiming the issue has been rectified without addressing the fact they keep letting this happen. They take the photo down then let the user post it up right away. Complaints to this app go unanswered. What is the point in allowing users to indicate they do not want to receive unsolicited nude photos while simultaneously subjecting them to the same images?!? DO YOUR JOB AND PROTECT THE COMMUNITY. Now cue a stock response from Grindr developers not actually addressing the complaint….

UPDATE: Developer Response…. Did you even read the complaint? If you will not address the actual complaint why even pretend to respond?

One of the Most Fun and Safe apps to meet Guys!

Yes my partner and I been using this dating/friend making app for years now and I can only say is that if your responsible smart and very clear with your intentions you no doubt have a great time or simply end the conversation way before meeting that other guy. I’ve also noticed many guys complain about getting thrown off Grindr site or simply black listed. And then they ask WHY? 🤷‍♂️😵😭 if your being a bully, or a straight up stocker then people will complain about you and
Make sure they show them the conversation record word by word etc. so be nice present and after getting to know one another well exchange numbers meet up in a public location etc. we’re all adults here at the end of the Day so let’s act like it and have fun with that new friend. 😉

People using my photos AGAIN

It’s happened a few time on this site to where it was brought to my attention that a user was using my photos. Im not even on this site and I haven’t been for years. They do nothing for verification and those using my photos were harassing other users. This is troubling especially in contrast to the work that I do. In the past I have come to realize that, If you use Grindr, expect to meet those with fake profiles and those that solicit money for sex. Next time I will have to take legal action against Grindr for defamation if they continue to allow the use of my copyrighted photos. Such apps should not be allowed on Grindr Store. On all personal sites, no one should be allowed to troll with no photo, no info, or at least with out verification. If these sites used verification, it will end fake users and identity theft. Discretion defeats the purpose on this site and catering to those of discretion causes way more problems then the disallowing of it. It’s a personals site, stop allowing those that hide and watch Grindr soar.

Bad verification cannot get account back

I signed up for this app under the unlimited membership and mistyped my email address. Since this app does phone verification and also does not send a welcome email, instead of verifying email address and then phone, I was never aware of my mistake. Now I am locked out of my account and I have sent them my photo I’d and my profile pictures and they are not able to restore my account to me after 3 support tickets. I will be talking to the attorney general. I sent in my pictures and my drivers license and they say I can’t have my account unless I know the email address. Why can’t you use the phone that I verified it with. If you can’t give me my account with my own pictures then what hope is there. I called the company and left a detailed message. The system is flawed for sure. It needs to verify your email and your phone instead of just phone. If you sign up make sure you type in and screenshot it what email address you used otherwise if you lose it you are likely screwed.

Wasted potential

I’ve been using Grindr for a year and it has worked in getting dates its just very hard like because i have to sift through all the people who are hundreds of miles away just to find one thats close to me like the ratio of not far to way too far has to be like 1:15 that’s terrible and there’s no way to stop it because unlike every other dating app this app doesn’t have a distance limit you can set, and the dumbest thing that always experience when using Grindr is when I use explore and use my location or a place 20 minutes away profiles show up but most if not all end up being hundreds of miles away, this is so frustrating and really infuriating because such a big problem can be fixed with such a simple solution just add a distance filter to the plethora of other ones that are there and Grindr would probably be better than every other dating app, but I know that this app is never gonna fix this issue so honestly it’s just a waste of time ninety percent of the time.

Total waste of time.

First of all. You get constant pop up adds; when your app refreshes you get bombarded with them. You’ll also find majority of the profiles are Ads as well or “fake profiles”. Or you’ll find people “in your area” who will want you to send them money to “meet” and they are in Guam or Africa. I have also found lots of women on Grindr that identify as men. And I have found lost of people in the Columbus Ohio area using the same pictures both in and out of profiles. I must disclose I get paid to download and review applications and provide my honest opinion. This application. I find to be a complete and total waste of time; as a “basic member” or a “premium member” you get the same constant ads; pop ups as well as the same user profiles showing in your feed. I would say easily 75% of the profiles are indeed fake profiles. I would strongly recommend using a different application. Regardless of you’re looking for friends; dating or a one night stand there are definitely better apps available to you without the head ache of fake profiles; pop up advertisements, ad bots and con artists. I also caught on very quickly that this app does NOTHING to stop the fake profiles. And users can have more than one profile. With my complimentary free premium membership (90 days) i managed to secure 3 stalkers on Grindr ; of which had 15-20 profiles each and would send me multiple messages a day. I would honestly give Grindr ZERO stars if it were optional.

App is (still) garbage

Update: app is still terrible. Traded one set of problems and bugs for another. Messages show up late. Sometimes minutes after logging in, sometimes not until restarting Grindr . Can’t see who’s actually online from your messages unless you click on their profile. Opening messages often shows the question mark on images but you can see them if you click. Profile photos and text not load. Really just a bunch of awful bugs that make the experience of using Grindr pretty bad. All that for $25 a month? 🤮

Really glad I paid for a year of xtra. Wish I would’ve saved my money. Shame on you this app. Grindr is terrible. Profiles won’t load, photos won’t load, can’t block people, can’t reply to messages. Messages don’t appear until force quitting Grindr . Messages say a user is offline, then when i check their profile, they are online. Get “connecting” over and over and the spinning wheel of death. Contacted support - they are “known issues”

Seems like when your app doesn’t do anything it’s supposed to, it’s kind of a bigger problem and you may want to fix it soon-ish. This has been going on for weeks. It’s fine if you have a free app. It’s not fine when you have lots of paying customers. You owe people a refund for the crappy experience we’re paying for.

How the mighty have fallen.

I have been using Grindr for years since it first appeared. In the past couple of years or so their quality and service has declined drastically to the point that I foresee the end of Grindr. Which honestly it needs to happen already because Grindr is full of garbage and the people who run it are useless, if there even people. I think when the Chinese bought this they not only ruined Grindr but tarnished the image of the gay community. Using Grindr is a nightmare. Way to much advertising, fake profiles, prostitution, people who are mentally deranged, drug dealing and usage, and I even reported minors being sold in human trafficking, simply disgusting. A cauldron of low life degenerates. Not only that there randomly banning thousands of profiles for no reason. Some claim spamming, funny how they throw at you every moment some bulls$#t product you don’t want or need. When Grindr crashes I’m going to celebrate. From now on I’m going to strictly meet people in person. Burn this app burn!

Update:
I love how they “try” to have customer service by responding to people’s reviews. If they actually fixed their issues they would have long ago resolved them. Just scroll down and you’ll see their generic responses to ex this app users., if they cared they would change things simple as that. this app your a joke.

Bad Outweighs Good..By Far

Update: it’s still the same, but now it’s kind of funny.

I’ve never taken the time to review an app, but having been using this one since its inception it seems apt to give my 2 cents: the inconsistencies, lax monitoring and outright biased moderation of profile images, profile content and underage members is outrageous. I’ve personally had it at this point, sick of half my messages not getting through and half messages sent to me showing up on notifications but when I open up Grindr ... nada. On this particular day, though, I’m really, really, really incensed by the discriminatory, inconsistent and offensively undeniable practices relating to profile pictures. I’ve always experienced very, very strict vetting to the extent of images not violating any guidelines rejected; furthermore in the past few days it’s come to my attention that there seems to be an abundance of guys out there that get a free pass and are exempt of certain regulations... without going into detail, it’s very frustrating to submit the same image over and over cropping just a bit more even though there’s nothing to crop as per the guidelines... long story short picture rejected 6 times so far, and they do reserve the right to crop at their discretion yet no... This is bullsh*t. Anyway, I’ll be back to continue this tirade.

Few bugs, and some spamming here and there, but still the best app out there.

Was never a perfect app, but still better than every other m4m app out there, with Scruff being a close second favorite of mine. It just seems like there are always more guys close by who are looking to strictly hook up and that's all I really want from an app like this. If you aren't subscribed to this app xtra, then you can't expect a great experience with Grindr. Simple as that. I had a free week subscription of xtra a couple months ago and I loved it. Considering purchasing a month subscription to give it another go. Maybe it's just my location, but on this app there always seems to be guys looking within a few thousand feet from me. Other apps it seems like the closest guys to me are always the same ones and no one is within like 4 miles from me. And being into older guys in particular, I've managed to come in contact with a lot of married guys on the DL in my town that I've known for years and have hooked up with a few of them. Nothing hotter than that to me!

So many ads.....

I understand the need for advertising. However, the number of ads I am forced to watch is asinine, considering the content I receive.
It’s really not rocket science. this app is a gay dating app for men. I should be able to find single men. I should have the ability to only see single, not married, not exclusive, not in an open relationship, cis-men. I don’t seek out people in relationships in real life. Why would I want to online?
I’m all for inclusion. Women are great. My mom and sisters and many friends are women, but I am not trying to date a woman or a man who looks like a woman. I should have the ability to see only people who don’t have vaginas, never had a vagina, and isn’t dressed like someone who does have a vagina.
Bots, spam.....whatever you want to call it...... I would estimate that at least half of the messages or “taps” I receive are not from a real person. It’s really quite bothersome. A cute guy taps. I say hi. The bot thanks me for responding, then says he isn’t getting my messages and that I should text him, then sends some phone number. When I mark it as spam and try to block, I can’t because I’ve used up all my blocks just trying to see a single cis-man who isn’t wearing a dress.

Pros and Cons

this app is an extremely app to use and is usually pretty accurate as far a location and quick with updating profiles. There are several concerns. There are many setting limitations and privacy concerns. Grindr allows spammers and bots to breach often. Accounts are set up with emails rather than phone numbers. This allows spammers, bots and people that harass people to create new profiles very easily. This would stop with registration required by phone numbers as most people only have one phone number. The service support is rather awful. There is no way to contact service support directly. Service support would rather you place an idea for other members to vote on. This is a very poor practice. Other apps make it very easy to contact a service support members and they will email you directly and on a personal level rather than a can response. The service rendered by this app is that equal to an app that is free rather than the ridiculous high charges this app charges annually.

Banned for no reason. Overwhelmed with ads.

My account was randomly banned...as has happened to thousands of other people...for no reason. I emailed back and forth with support and they assured me that I violated their rules but refused to tell me how. At first I was kinda mad because I felt like they were doing me wrong but honestly, Grindr has become absolute garbage anyway. Every couple of minutes you get slammed with ads trying to get you to upgrade to their pay service or buy some other app. Between that, people trying to get me to give them money for various favors or random people trying to sell me drugs CONSTANTLY, I’m done with Grindr.

Funny note, though. After my account was suspended, this app sent me a link to read the community guidelines and there’s a whole section about spamming users and advertising other sites or apps and how it’s strictly forbidden. The HILARIOUS part of it is that you can’t use Grindr for 30 seconds without them throwing ads in your face or making you watch some ridiculous promotion for their overpriced premium service.

this app IS A JOKE and the people that run it know that. It’s a shame that so many users feel the need to put up with their nonsense. You can miss me with that crap!

Overrun by ads

this app has gone way downhill and the latest new “Unlimited” membership updates only make it worse.
The worst problem Grindr has now, BY FAR, is that the ads on it are out of control. We are used to seeing ads, we know it’s a part of the trade using free apps - but these things are obnoxious to a new level. Sometimes it seems like every other time you click a profile you have to watch at least 5 seconds of a full screen pop-ad before you can do anything else. It’s so annoying, I’m tempted to download an ad blocked onto my phone.
Next, are some of the new features. “Viewed me”, in particular, is off-putting. Why is this app now showing people when we view them? Not cool!! Did you just check out your ex boyfriend’s new shirtless torso picture? Well, now he can see that he made you look. Got a crazy ex roommate you’re keeping tabs on? He too can see that you looked. It’s not cool.
Literally the ONLY thing Grindr has going for it anymore is that it is well known. But considering how far downhill it has gone, between bots, ads, and annoying new features, I think it’s about time to search for greener pastures. Thank you, next.

Goodish

This I think is the best hook up app for gay men, it has some bugs and honestly is pretty decent sometimes.
The problems come when 1 the taps are useless, guys refuse to use it and when you get taps most of them are bots trying to scam, and this is a big problem in Grindr , the amount of scammer there are like, bots, “porn stars” passing by, “sugar daddies” that want to give you a crazy allowance in exchange of your bank info and other personal data, is just ridiculous, and if you don’t pay extra you have to deal with it cause limited blocking.

That’s another thing, 20 bucks for extra and 40 for unlimited, are you nuts? That’s waaaaay too overpriced for unlocking a few options that are not really worth it, I had xtra for a month, and tried unlimited for a day, now both are the exact same thing, why is unlimited so expensive? Cause I can see who looked at my profile that day? And the icon change to gray? Tf? Xtra is expensive too, to unlock a few filters that won’t change anything really, the most useful thing is be able to filter tops and bottoms and see who is online at the moment, that’s it, the price shouldn’t be that high.

Banned Arbitrarily

I was banned because it was claimed that I engaged in spam activities and/or tried to obtain personal information from people. I would never engage in these activities. What made it weirder was that this app refused to give me specifics about these claims. A google search shows that being banned from this app arbitrarily is a problem. Thankfully, I hadn’t paid for one of their exorbitant subscription services before being banned for really no reason. The only thing I can think was that I was hacked or I was maliciously reported by someone I ignored (maybe even more than once) or something I had messaged to someone (can’t think of what that could be) was taken out of context or erroneously flagged. Anyhow, the customer service person I messaged with was absolutely of no help and was as vague as the ban itself. What makes all of this even more frustrating is that it’s common to see spam accounts, behaviors, and profiles that blatantly violate the terms of service on this app. Anyhow, thankfully I hadn’t paid for any of their services before being banned for something I didn’t do. Also, all of this prompted me to research this app, and there are privacy concerns with Grindr . I’d give it zero stars if I could do so.

Come on Grindr

One of the best apps for the LGBTQ community however the features, the price and, and the monthly fee amounts are a little bit ridiculous. The rate of robot profiles and scammers are a little bit ridiculous and I feel like they should be under a bit more control. Minors are running rampant as well. I think the verification for an account should a bit more strict! Like entering and license or state id number. That way more real people are verified and using the apps. It’s one of my most used apps even though A lot of it is just spent a huffing and puffing over the features. The unlimited subscription price for $40 a month is outrageous and the $8 a month xtra price would be reasonable for the unlimited features. I feel like for the premium features it should be $8 and for the features of xtra it should be 2 to 5 dollars a month. I feel like more people would buy into it in more subscribers would use it. I would certainly consider it at the price then where is now. this app works well and better than other apps but for the extra features that are free on those one, this app should be a bit more reasonable.

Uncooperative

I’ve been using Grindr for a while now, if I’m being honest I haven’t had problems with Grindr at all, I would totally give it a high rating, the only issue that has been occurring as of late is the fact the my account was banned for “spammy activity” all because I was talking to multiple people in a short amount of time. I’ve been asking whether or not this was permanent or if the this app support representative that I was talking with would cooperate to unban my account, all he said was that he “reviewed” my account and considered it spam and was gonna make sure that my account stayed banned. Like I said, no problems up until this point so I decided to create another account because I wasn’t gonna deal with that, now that account was banned within the few hours of its creation and it’s been two days since I’ve written a report about it not being spam or whatever they say this time and I haven’t gotten any response, I just want to talk with people and the representative I talked with took that from me, and that’s what angered me and led me hear to write a review, I’m hoping now that someone will read this with any advice to give.

Not sure

I feel like this app is the easiest & most convenient of the dating apps. Adam4Adam is decent, has been around for a while, can have much more detailed info; but sometimes has a weird crowd. Sometimes attracts the users on their home computer, who don’t own a smart phone… not saying smart phone owners can’t be shady. Honestly, one of the main complaints I have as of late, with this app, Is that using voice text within Grindr seems to work a little differently than if you were using it anywhere else… As in texting, Safari, Chrome, etc. The words are horribly incorrect the majority of the time. Like 80%. lol. I don’t know if it’s a different software they use or what, but so much editing has to be done if I use voice text. I don’t always want to type if I’m chatting with someone. Also Grindr is incredibly slow moving and loading during “peak” times. Even if it’s on and I’m not using it, it heats up my phone so much. Sometimes it’s so slow, and the voice/autocorrect is so pathetic, I give up. But I still use it...

Super biased app

Too bad apple doesn’t let you give zero stars. Grindr definitely has its fair share of problems..and I normally try to ignore most of them, but I’ve noticed that whoever is in charge of approving profile pictures is completely biased on who can post what. Some guys get away with posting practically naked photos or pictures of straight up boners, and yet I get rejected for a shirtless picture? Mind you, there are TONS of guys with shirtless pictures on Grindr..but it seems like you only get approved if the person approving your picture FEELS like it. I understand having to have some kind of moderation in what can be posted, but it becomes incredibly frustrating watching others being allowed to do things that you’re not. It may sound strange that I’d completely delete an app because of something like this..but users should feel welcomed using an app...so until Grindr finds a different way to be fair to ALL of its users and actually does something to fix these problems, not just saying their gonna do something about it or pretending they care about your concerns, I’ll find something else to use.

Months ago my Grindr app crashed on my iPhone. When I go to open it, it closes and takes me to my Home Screen. I installed it on my iPad and it’s been fine for months. Yesterday I opened my iPad and touched the app and it reset my Ipad and now will not open at all. I have emailed for months but they are still working on it. I guess this is a blessing in disguise.
