I finally found this game after about 7 years. I played this all the time as a kid. I never won a single game but I had too much fun listening to the fantastic soundtrack and watching the weapon effects. I finally won my first game coming back today. I’m glad to see the game is still being worked on. I also just found out this game came out in 2001. Dang, 20 years. Congratulations on keeping the masterpiece alive for 20 years! I can’t see myself getting ready to stop playing anytime soon. Thank you for keeping the updates running so we can play on modern devices. Most old games can’t be played on newer phones. But this one has existed for 20 years yet we can still use it!

The game itself is awesome and plays just like it used to 20 years ago. The AI is pinpoint at anting about mid-level difficulty, so I thought I’d play against real people for a more balanced experience.

Online play is terrible, flat out. There is no time limit to fire, so you never know if they just quit as soon you land a hit (seems pretty common) or if they are aiming. There needs like a 60 or 90 second time out before it just fires the current settings, or forfeits you for inactivity. There’s no need to have every match end on the second rally because the enemy hasn’t done anything for literally 10 minutes. Frustrating, and the online menu navigation isn’t the most clear either.

Please, add a time out or kick for idle activity feature, and then this will be an awesome experience again since the game itself is great.

Mr. Welch did a phenomenal job in creating and maintaining this game, from adding hundreds of weapons, online access, and the modernization of a 2 decade old experience. It’s a very old game that never fails to take you back to the days of Scorched Tanks on Amiga, or bring in a wide range of new, young people (such as myself) to the genre. It’s a very simple game with a vast strategic curve that only grows in size when you (inevitably; let’s be real) decide to purchase one or more of the many witty, humorous, and very thought out, weapon packs available for your choosing. Michael is also fantastic at listening and catering to his community both through the forums and these review sections, alike. Akin to weapon ideas, bug fixes, features, etc. He’s always responded to my emails regarding the game every single time for YEARS. He’s truly devoted and most definitely deserves ALL of your money.

SUGGESTIONS FOR MIKE:

It would be a change to see some different types of terrain (maybe obstacles such as trees, cacti for a new desert terrain possibly?) Just something to add cosmetic and a little more interesting!

More dynamic AI, if this makes sense.

I literally play this game all day. I love turn-based games that have selections. I've played the PC version with all the weapons. Mobile is the best because I can play anywhere. I battle at least ten people a day and practice my winning strategy time after time. My cons: AI never wins, but never misses lol. Its true, second player is always at a disadvantage with their position. The spinner glitch is lame to lose by - please fix. Request: we should be able to create stages/weapon selections. We definitely need chat during play feature. The game play is casual and would be fun to coach friends some tips during play. Please can we have a record of our matches? How about teams i.e. more tanks like 4 player game. Thank you Blitwise!!!!!!!!!

I’ve played this game hundreds of times. I play it at least ten times a day. With that said it’s a great time spender.

The downsides are the AI and the weapons. The AI I’d say after level 3 hits you directly every time. Even if you have perfect aim this leads to problem two: the weapons.

Generally the weapons are fun and silly, but there’s an obvious uneven distribution of power. Sometimes you’re left with on or two truly offensive weapons and the rest are useless defensive weapons. If the balancing was better this game would be near perfect.

Sometimes after the computer goes you are locked into such a terrible position with such terrible weapons it’s almost more fun to restart the game for a more even match.

Regardless, worth the download but just play on a lower setting or with friends.

I have purchased the deluxe version and it I'd definitely worth it this game deserves much more attention. So simple but yet so complex. This game also has allot of potential, like possibly in the deluxe version you could have a way to design new landscapes to battle on that could be allot larger and longer and deeper and maybe modes where you have unlimited jump packs and diggers maybe idk. Just an idea but bigger and deeper would definitely be amazing. And also live action team battles both for online and single player. Just some ideas that hopefully get attention. Either way I love this game and it is the best 👍🏻👍🏻

Long time Pocket Tanks player here. This game got me through high school, playing this game on USB drive in the computer lab. Worth every penny I’ve given it for weapons packs. A simple game. No ads. Absolutely perfect for anyone that wants an offline or online game.

Feedback: I would love to be able to turn on the physics for multiplayer games like I can for local games. Increasing explosion size and force makes the game twice as fun, but I can’t do that with my friends. I’d love an ON/OFF toggle for online games to change settings of it.

Firstly, a massive thank you for your continued support of this game. It’s been among my favorites for many years, and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon!

The singular thing that irks me is the lack of background color options. Black is pretty and classic, but a lot of weapons blend perfectly into this and it can be a bit of a challenge. As I type this, I realize that may be an intentional characteristic of those weapons.

I still like the idea of having an option, but nonetheless, again, a big thank you for years of fun!

Good to see this A+ game still has someone working on it! Bought all the weapon packs because they were so cheap!
I love the battle music and would loooove to see more songs like that in future updates, and also maybe some options to change the color of the background gradient and terrain color perhaps?😀
And while I'm throwing random ideas out, new terrain options like perhaps water or something might be cool, i wanna dig a tunnel and dump a lake on my opponent!

I have been playing this game forever (back to the early days on PC), and have always loved it. I really wish there was a way to pay once (like the deluxe pack) and get all of the weapons. There used to be a way to do this back in the day, but now it is all small packs at $.99 or $3.99. One pack of $15-$20 would be awesome to get all of the expansions.

It’s almost no fun playing single player. Firstly, the terrain generation always gives the bot almost no land elevation, so any stars or other digger weapons just hit the bounds and explode.

Secondly, the difficulty is basically “odds the AI will have perfect aim no matter where you are, or just miss a shot”. You try to move, you get hit. You launch a wall, the AI perfectly aims 2 pixels above it. You finally have the bot dialed in, they use evac.

I’ve had this game downloaded on my phone forever, hoping one day it will get the last push of improvement it needs.

First I love this game me and my friends play it a lot online but when I downloaded this game I spent like 10-15 bucks on it and that’s why I’m saying you guys need to make more free weapons and also one last thing we need more weapons in each game like we choose our weapons great we each get 15 we need more.

This game really brings out the four year old me! Of course that was over fifth teen years ago! But this game is amazing and always had the retro feel to it! It has not changed since 2001. The only things is a chat feature would be much appreciated! I would love to communicate with the other players!
Also a few glitches! I’m pretty sure the players know what I’m talking about.

I used to play the old ms dos Scorched Earth with my brother when we were young. I am so happy to see it again.
I do think there should be an option in multiplayer mode where if you take too many minutes to make a move, your move gets chosen randomly. The time limit could be disabled if both players select time limit off.

Harder to dial in or zero in on opponents than it used to be. My main gripe is that I’m tired of upgrading (purchasing) new weapons packs and getting multiple duplicate weapons in the picking phase before each game. Sometimes I’ll get 3 to 4 of the same weapon. It’s bull crap. I’m paying extra to get to use the different weapons and I get tons of duplicates every game. Should just let you pick them straight up. And for god’s sake integrate a text or chat feature between players.

Overall this game is an absolute blast. My brother and I have been playing it for as long as I can remember, and it’s the first game I always fall back on when I’m bored at work or something. I am genuinely shocked that the dev and team continue to put out new content like the battery pack I just installed. Thank you to BlitzWise for making such a wonderful game

PT is simple, fun and effective if you need a short way to burn some time. I was looking for a game comparable to the PC’s Tank Wars and this is as close as it gets! Hours of fun on multiplayer.

Would be awesome if There’s was some sort of chat or “Good game/thanks” preset chat for online games. Also the ability to select a map style in online play would be frickin awesome too! Keep up the great work dev team.

All time favorite game. It lacks structure just enough to allow for creative outside-the-box strategies. I’ve been playing this forever and still find new ways to use weapons.

One big request: please add a chat function to the online gameplay, even a limited one with preloaded phrases like “nice shot” or “whoops” or “well played” etc…

After the AI gets smarter and starts beating you on the easiest level, you can just start a new game, not replay. Try limiting the types of weapons. Overall, mindless hours of fun at your fingertips. The reason this got a 5-star from me was it doesn’t destroy my battery and there are no ads or constant pop-ups trying to get you to buy freemium crap. Great app to kill time and keep your battery!

I was in middle school when this game came out. In those days, pocket tanks was only for PC and came in either free or paid versions. I never thought the cost of the paid version was justified, so I went with the free option. When I saw PocketTanks on PocketTanks Store it was almost too good to believe. They captured the essence of what this game was about. WELL DONE!

I have been playing this game since the beginning (early 2000s I think) and still love it! I get every weapon pack as they come out and this has been my go to time waster ever since it was ported to cell phones. The only issue I have with it is the weapon search and select could be a little better. Maybe have weapons categorized by packs so you can play particular groups of weapons and be able to change the sorting for selection. Bouncy, lightning, etc.

Other than that keep up the good work!

After you play for a minute taking a couple days to finish one match isn’t the worst thing. It’s an awesome casual game. It’s fun to check and play back opponents even if it’s just once a day. Can also be competitive if you prefer. Stands the test of time. One suggestion: needs a weapon search bar with keywords showing weapons. I’ve all 300+ weapons and it’s becoming a pain to scroll through.
