Short version: You can’t transfer audio files larger than 500kb out of AudioMemosSE unless you buy the pro version.

There are several problems with the UI. If you try to transfer a memo larger than 500kb... you just can’t. Unless you pay for the pro version, seemingly. But given how terrible the free version is, I’m not going to chance it.
If you try to email a memo, you get a message telling you to change your email settings to allow sending a memo larger than 500kb. But there is no such setting.
When I tried to send via Messages, the UI just completely fails. Adding a new recipient results in a blank row in the UI and it’s not clear how to proceed from there.
It’s just astonishing that it could be so hard to transfer a file. I literally might have to play the recording from my ipad into the mic of a separate device in order to transfer the file.
This after a half hour searching the web for solutions — I really tried. Totally ridiculous.

I loved AudioMemosSE before. Now, every time I open it and hit record, an add for gaming apps pop up playing music which interrupts the recording. If there’s a way to stop the pop-ups... I’d give it 5 stars. But I’m giving it 2 for now since I can’t use AudioMemosSE the way it’s intended.

AudioMemosSE has been so helpful with storing my songs and other audios.. It very friendly to use.

I lost precious recordings of my mother’s talking about family history before she went into cognitive decline. There’s no warning ahead of time what can happen to recordings in an update. I’m heartbroken.

This new version (4.7.5) fixed the crashing on startup problem for me.

Such an excellent, handy resource when paper and pen are nowhere near.

Works well, but missing one feature that I have not seen in any voice recording app yet: the ability to display a badge icon to show how many recordings there are (ALL recordings, not just ones with a past due reminder or just the unplayed ones).

Here’s a feature request for the developers, one that I have previously seen in only an old, now discontinued app called Note2Self. With Note2Self running, I can bring the phone to my ear, and the phone will vibrate to indicate that it has started recording. When I’m done speaking and move the phone away, it vibrates again to indicate that it has stopped recording. This feature is invaluable when driving.

Another nice feature to have is automatic sending by email. I know that I can use the share sheet, but that is several taps (tap the “i” icon, tap on Mail icon, enter email address, etc.). A feature that automatically sends an email to a preset address as soon as recording has ended would be great.

How can one retrieve old recordings, some fairly important, that were removed by the update.

I had different recording and it all get deleted!

I like AudioMemosSE! Free to use. Yay

Music composer, artist, writer, programmer...I try to be fairly practical when I download an app. I think many try to make sure not to download a lot of garbage and clutter up their resources. I had a memo taker that could record audio, but it felt like it would not be very robust. It covered just a few the basics, but I knew this would be useful before I downloaded it as along as it delivered on it's promises...and it did. Easy to record on the fly, easy to stop and start, easy to name and catalogue. Song idea comes to mind *boom*, record a quick note *boom*, need to record a conversation or memorable moment *boom*, Foley sound for background noise in a composition *boom*. Didn't need feature-loaded blast-o-2000 that would crash on execution, needed Mr. reliable app with more than the basics for dealing with audio and this did the job nicely. If the next version is at a price I'd still get it, but I wouldn't know what more features they could add that I'd really need.

I m giving AudioMemosSE 5 star to make you read what i have to say. I downloaded AudioMemosSE because of good reviews and rate, but now i m sooooooooo angry with AudioMemosSE and developer of AudioMemosSE. AudioMemosSE has a major issue that need to be fixed soon. What really happened was, i was recording, then my professor was not saying any important things, so i stopped and deleted that recording, do you know WAHT HAPPENED????? ALL MY PREVIOUS IMPORTANT RECORDINGS WERE ALSO DELETED :'( . I m deleting AudioMemosSE right now, because i can't take another risk to lose my important stuffs using this stupid app.
I m writing this review to let everyone know that they need to be CAREFUL WHILE DELETING THE RECORDINGS, WHO KNOWS ALL YOUR PREVIOUS RECORDINGS MIGHT BE DELETED ALSO. THIS IS MY WARNING TO EVERYONE....AFTER READING THIS, if you lose ur data then, there is no one to blame but EXCEPT YOU.
I HAVE A HUNCH THAT THE DEVELOPER OF AudioMemosSE WILL DELETE THIS COMMENT VERY SOON....BEST OF LUCK FOR UR FUTURE ENDEAVORS. THERE ARE OTHER THOUSANDS OF recording apps, that has no problem like this. I will use them.

Great product. Cons: Has a few occasional pop up reminders for paid version but not bad. One if the recordings, the first, is always hidden by the bottom ad so you can't play that one back. Record button isn't the stop recording button which I keep missing. It only pauses it which is cumbersome. Pros: Sound quality is excellent. Simple format. I use it daily for quick reminders that I play back at the end of the day. It's free!

I noticed tonight that every recording I've made today—recordings which should have been over an hour long—were between ten and thirteen seconds long. Thinking there had to be a mistake, I listened to them. All of them had been cut short after less than half a minute.

After some testing, I noticed the following: I'd start recording and lock the phone. On unlocking, AudioMemos would still give the appearance of recording—Pause button and volume level indicator are displayed—but the recording length number had frozen after a few seconds. This happened numerous times. The period of time at which it stopped recording varied, but it was almost always under twenty seconds.

Yesterday, AudioMemos worked fine. Today, following an automatic update, it doesn't. I lost a lot of things I wanted to record today. This is a serious bug, and, as far as I'm concerned, makes AudioMemosSE unusable. I'll be using another app until this is fixed.

AudioMemos Free is my app of choice for immediately getting an idea or song melody from my head to my phone. It's fast and easy to make a simple recording, and that's important when I don't want to lose the thought. No fiddling around with naming or anything else—just hit one button and you're recording.

The paid version makes AudioMemosSE just about perfect with the added sharing, emailing large file sizes, Dropbox filing, etc. but, for a super fast way to get it down before it's gone—this works well.

The best Free voice recording app. Can adjust the audio quality right off the bat, other free ones don't have that, and AudioMemosSE is clean and simple to navigate. I'm using it to make quick audio notes when I come up with a new guitar piece I wanna remember. Also, I have plugged in a cheap microphone from my old gateway computer which captures the audio better than just my iPad first gen. One downside, when i turn up the volume in AudioMemosSE settings it sounds like crap, but still no big deal. Love this easy app : )

As promised, I said I would re-rate AudioMemosSE after I installed AudioMemosSE update. As some of you may have read, I was dissatisfied with the previous update, but was 100% happy with the version I used two versions ago... Well, I am happy to report that so far the latest update of AudioMemosSE is working PERFECTLY!

Hats off the the developer for working out the nuances and delivering a top notch app!

As far as I am concerned, I fully endorse AudioMemosSE once again!

I was searching for an app like this for months with no luck. My instructor talks fast so it's easy to lose track when taking notes. Downloaded this mid lecture and crossed my fingers as I couldn't listen to the quality till I got home. I had the lowest quality setting and it worked great although I will try a higher quality setting to see if it helps some of muffles. I'm using the ipad3 with the built in mic at the moment so I'm sure an external mic would sound amaZing! Thanks for AudioMemosSE!

For me, this has always been a five stars app. Quality and user interaction is great. The only thing is that I tried to transfer some of my recorded stuff today and I got an error message that said something about a bug in ios 5 that doesn't allow a connection to be established. I'm glad I was notified and told they were working on it already. I just hope the update comes out soon, because I really need those files.

I'm in Grad School and I was using this but it constantly just stops recording for no reason, which is problematic if you're taking notes for hours and you don't notice that it just decided to stop or don't have time to constantly check; so it's unreliable. It does have decent quality if you're looking for something cheap to use temporarily. The ads it has will randomly play audio out loud, which is problematic on it's own. And while it does have the ability to amplify and normalize audio, it usually ends up sounding like Charlie Brown's teacher. I'd recommend something else, but if you're desparate or are willing to work with it, it's not the worst you could do.
