I have also had the same issue with OmniTranslator like the previous review showing that OmniTranslator can look me up using my Apple ID and get my first and last name. I would have no issue but since I then deleted OmniTranslator it shouldnβt be still showing that they continue to have access to looking me up by Apple ID. This is a little unsettling and makes me wonder why no one can remove this. If the developer gave a hoot he would respond to this but nothing.

Even after deleting OmniTranslator, an entry for it remains in Settings > iCloud > Look Me Up By Email. There is no way to remove it. Apple support couldnβt remove it, either. The text there reads, βApps that have requested permissions to look you up by your Apple ID will appear here. People who look you up will see your first and last name.β You donβt have to turn this feature on, but why have it at all? Seems like a danger to privacy.

It used to be better

I find it annoying to look at now.
Deleting it and searching for a replacement.

At first it was ok. Then it starts to glitch. I reopened OmniTranslator hoping it would work but no. If you do get OmniTranslator though don't do Spanish to English or English to Spanish. OmniTranslator made me mad... π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘

I downloaded this AP while traveling in Italy, so was quite excited to begin using it. Unfortunately, the first 3 words I tried did not translate and they were pretty common words. It merely had the same word in both the Italian and the English portion of the screen. I did finally get a few words to work, but it is very hit or miss.
The second problem is that after translating a word, the keyboard does not reappear so that you can enter another word - even if you hit clear. You have to go back to the target language screen, select the language again and return to the input screen so that the keyboard appears again.
But what the heck, it's free, and maybe the updates will improve the program. Just don't expect to rely on it.

Yes, OmniTranslator is simplistic. It has limited languages, and the free version has no voice-related content. But Iβve used it often over the years for quick translation of phrases or words. Will it help with travel or speaking to natives? Only on a basic level. But itβs helpful on a casual basis, and thatβs all I need so far.

This was a simulated emergency, but it did show the wide array of situations where an iphone is invaluable. During a drill featuring a simulated airplane crash we encountered a "victim" who spoke only Swedish. That left a bunch of good 'ole boys from west Texas wondering just what the h%$# to do. I had downloaded OmniTranslator only days before, and was able to use it by asking yes/no questions to provide appropriate and needed medical care to this young man. After the drill, the "victim" confirmed that the translations were "excellent". I am sure that many of my brothers have already downloaded OmniTranslator after its value was so dramatically demonstrated. P.S. how 'bout adding swahili (sp?) We have a new batch of African immigrants, and human translators are difficult to locate.

Dont listen to anyone who gives less then 4 stars.....
OmniTranslator is seriously amazing....
I go down to mexico often and i dont know jack spanish sooo when i go down to a restourant i type in let me get the check or wtv i want to say and i dont even have to read it to them i just show it and the guy knows what i want lol...
Another thing... this developer is a serious guy, i mean i am telling you i asked for him to add Bulgarian and it took him less then 2 weeks and boom its right here.
How amazing is that ?
I will deffinetly buy one of his other apps because he is a great guy. also this program should be rated 4 or more stars because you cant get anything better for free!!!!
if i could rate this 10 stars i would

I find it hard to believe it is free. I had a friend fluent in reading and writing Hebrew test it. I wrote in English "I want to go swimming at the beach next week, and then to to dinner at your Aunt's house", translated it to Hebrew and covered up the English translation with my thumb. She read it first out loud in Hebrew and translated it, and it was identical to what I typed! I have a suggestion though... Is there a way to create a saveable list of commonly or frequently used, cusomized phrases for fast translation? Even maybe a way to access past history of translations? Also, this may be too big of an idea, but any way to incorporate pronounciation of the translated text into the originally typed text? That would make this a truly phenominal app that I would be all too happy to purchase.

Very good start. Already more languages are being added. The grammatical usage may be a little off sometimes, but rarely does anyone speak perfect grammar, so who's really going to notice the wrong part of speech? OmniTranslator works well for me, in several languages that I have tried.
You just choose the source and target languages, type in your sentence, and it translates for you. The other translators on OmniTranslator Store, translate one language at a time, and sound out the translation, but they only stock standard questions that are predetermined. While OmniTranslator does not pronounce the sentence, it translates many different languages all in the same app, and you type in the sentence. Being able to ask specific questions and get a specific answer makes OmniTranslator the clear winner.
Oh yeah! And it is free.

Couple OmniTranslator With the free Dragon dictation app available in OmniTranslator Store and use the copy feature, and all you have to do is dictate your sentence (no typing) and copy it to the translator and hit play. You can also reverse it, switch it into English from the other language. Dragon has like a dozen or more source input languages too. Works great and it's free! There is a limit to how long the sentences can be, like three short lines, but it's very clear and understandable. I don't think it's designed to translate a book or anything but it's perfect for traveling or short texting etc I know English and German and tried all kinds of different ways to make it mess up and it worked perfect almost every time. I don't know why people are giving this bad reviews? I'm guessing because of slow or old equipment. I have an iPhone and even turned off the wifi and it still worked seamlessly with only two bars and I live in the middle of nowhere. five stars from me

Quite funny that those leaving bad reviews aren't even spelling English words correctly on the review. If you can't correctly spell the words then how is the computer going to understand? It never says it will pronounce the words out loud to you or translate it only with the English alphabet, so why are you giving it a bad review for not having a feature it DOESN'T advertise. Also how in the world is this FREE app going to store every single bit of translation in many languages on your iPhone for use without an Internet connection? Think about it.... I can't make phone calls or send emails while in the subway station. Should I give the iPhone a bad rating for that? It's obvious the fault of the developers. On wait? It has nothing to do with them because that technology doesn't exist. Oh and I also found that this application doesn't fly and sing songs in bird language so for that I should probably give it one star... oh but wait.... Let's use common sense. Also there will never be a free translator that is 100% correct. Think about it ... Ok I'm finished. I'm tired of having to stand up for decent apps because little kids want to be obnoxious. Some people actually do use these apps for more than games.
