Very quick, pulls up and navigates instantly. Easy to navigate, tons of customization options (I recommend Baskerville font), and for just a couple bucks tons of notes and commentaries. Has the online ESV and several other translations offline. Just discovered the very nice notes system which sorts notes by chapter: very quick and easy way to take notes. Simple and lightweight, with no silly "social" features beyond basic sharing. Lightweight and looks great.

Recent updates have indeed changed many things, and the developer (Paul) has worked his tail off to make a great looking app that is also easy to navigate. I truly believe he has done this with the most recent update, and HolyBible continues to improve regularly. He updates it very often.

Absolutely, hands down, the best Bible app out. Of the 4 currently on my phone, this is my "daily driver", and always remains so regardless of how many I try out & delete. In app purchases are well worth the content too. Thank you sir.

One request though, could you move the concordance back to the verse tap menu. I see the advantage of the way it works now, with the whole chapter available, but when you hit the "X" after looking at one word, to select another word, the list of verses jumps back to a predetermined spot, and you often have to scroll the list to find the desired verse. If it would just go back to the verse I was just at, I wouldn't want it moved back really. Just something to look at.

I liked the icons, but I don't have to figure out or remember what the words do. Some other nice tweaks too, but this one is a home run for me.
And STILL the best Bible app available.

I have been using HolyBible for several years and it is my favorite Bible app. I have another more commercial version that I occasionally use. What I like about HolyBible is the simplicity of the interface. I can quickly get between books. I usually read with Latin and ESV versions open. This allows insight into the words. Greek is more difficult to read, but the ability to open 1, 2, 3, or 4 translations open at the same time is greatly appreciated. I just got the study tools and they are most helpful. I highly recommend HolyBible for the iPad.

I use HolyBible daily, it is straightforward and has everything I need from reading plans to searches to multiple translations. I like how it will automatically scroll, so you don't have to be constantly scrolling. There also are some study helps you can buy, but I haven't bought those.
A note on the Chronological reading plan though: it's not perfect. The entry for October 11 says you should read Matthew 8 and Luke 7, however you have already read Matthew 8. I looked and couldn't find Matthew 9, so I suppose that Matt. 9 was accidentally replaced with Matt. 8.
And Mark 6 is missing. I think it's supposed to be on October 11 with Matthew 14 and Luke 9.

This is my primary devotional tool. I can choose several Bible translations, even the Greek and Hebrew. I can go to a concordance and find the history of a word. I can easily move between the Bible and commentaries and Internet searches. Adam Clarke’s commentary is my favorite. I love the feature about pressing on a word and being able to get its definition. I can tap on a verse and choose a highlight color. Wherever I finish reading, I can close HolyBible . When I open it up, it takes me back to where I finished.

This has always been great to have the Bible at my fingertips at all times. I’m keeping track of notes to accessing notes from commentaries. The only thing I would probably add for sometime in the future is possibly hot links on keywords with explanations from your notes. At that point all you would do would be to move your finger over that hotlink and it would bring up a blurb with your explanation from your notes.

Not knocking any other app, but there are very few that are just basic! I have two bible apps one that has all the gadgets and gizmos, and another(current). I like HolyBible because it's straight to the point it lets you put some notes in, highlight, Jesus words in red, and pick any version you want. Sometimes basic is good; easy to understand, not very confusing for the non-tech users(or learning). This does a good job with that because it's updated regularly, and doesn't have ideas to changes every update.

HolyBible has been my primary tool for His Word for over three years. It has everything needed.... the in app purchases are very reasonable for what you gain access to. From commentaries to devotionals and without all of the overtly suggested plans that make other apps distracting...there is access to those types of plans and suggestions in HolyBible but only when you search the menu ..
It allows me to my Sword at all times.
A real reason to justify paying the cost of today’s cell phone bills!

This is one of, if not the best bible app so far. Thank you. However, since a recent update, HolyBible has a problem. The search feature does not show the characters typed in the search bar. Meaning, I can select search, to search for a particular passage and everything I type does not show. I can click find and it will find what I typed. It just will not show.

Edit: Search issue fixed! The most recent update seems to have corrected the issue. Upgrading my rating to five stars!

I’ve had HolyBible for a few years now, and just wanted to say how truly great it is. HolyBible just recently added the ESV translation after it being only available online for a number of years. I’ve truly learned a lot from studying HolyBible and all it has to offer. If you are a Bible student, this is one of the finest study tools you can purchase on HolyBible Store. I’d recommend HolyBible to anyone interested in learning the Word of God. The in app purchases are totally worth the money as well.

I really do love this bible app, I have it on both my iPhone and iPad. I even bought the extra study tools, my only reservation and literally the only reason not 5 stars is the search feature is rough. It doesn’t just search for the actual words I’m looking for but smaller words within larger words that I’m not searching for. To me that isn’t helpful and I’ve found myself using other sources to search, when HolyBible has the capability to have a better search option. Love HolyBible , not the search feature.

I have been using HolyBible as my go to Bible app for many years now. It has all the features that I want and need. I really enjoy the daily reading plans that allow one to read through the whole Bible in a year in several different ways. I recently was having a slight problem with it and when I emailed the developer, I received a personal response within a few minutes that solved my problem! This is a great app and developer!

Cons:
SLOW. I have a 2017 iPad I got two weeks ago, and it takes a solid 3 seconds to pull down the menu or chapter scroll... It can’t be my device.. I guess that’s the downside to so much customizability?

Accessing my highlights is a little weird. I don’t use the “bookmarks” I use the highlights, because most often I am reading by the verses not chapters, and I don’t think I can get it to bookmark verses. Personally, I’d love to have a button always viewable to access either my highlights, or better yet, verse bookmarks. That would make them 1 click away rather than 5 or 6. Maybe a symbol by the verse to indicate that it is the bookmarked verse?

Overall... It’s the best bible app in my opinion.

This developer has been doing excellent work optimising and polishing this one app for the past decade.
The features are amazing, the options are numerous and the developer attention consistent. I have tried other bible apps over the years but I still return to this one. Highly recommended.

The best Bible app in the Apple Store by far! Everything about it is amazing and I love how customizable HolyBible is. Very satisfactory. My only complaint is the lack of Bible Versions. I really wished HolyBible had the Easy to Read version due to being able to emphasize specific points easier with other versions of the Bible. I find the ERV is one of the best versions to use when coming across a confusing verse in the KJV.
Nonetheless, this Bible is all has been my favorite for 4 years now. Thank you very much!

I love this bible app however I am a voiceover user Who is blind and over The past three or four updates to HolyBible HolyBible has become 100 percent unusable because voiceover is no longer able to access HolyBible at all. If it is any at all possible i would really appreciate a fix to correct the lack of voiceover support because it is the only way for a blind individual to access and use HolyBible .

Crashed. Had to delete and re-download. Now I can't get my study aids back because HolyBible keeps telling me it can't connect to the server. Hope this gets resolved since I paid for them.

Update: I still can’t download my study aids. I just looked to see when the last update was and it was updated 9 months ago. This is disappointing to see. I’m sure that is why I’m not able to get my study aids back and HolyBible crashes. It needs to be updated to be compatible with the new operating systems. This is sad. I guess I will be searching for other alternatives. Not sure if I can find one as good as this😕

I’m using an IPhone 10 running its latest updates. HolyBible is updated. In the chronological reading plan. When I select bible reading >calendar then select the current date the scripture list displayed to read are out of synch with the scriptures listed above calendar. The scripture list to select for reading are the next days books & chapters. Consistently when I select a book & then chapter my displayed text does not change. April 17, 2020. This began in March 2020.

This was one of the first Bible apps I downloaded for my first iPhone when HolyBible Store was brand new back in 2008. Imagine my surprise TEN years later that it’s still supported AND has added a ton of features. The YouVersion app may be the most popular and social, but this Bible app is the most functional. From a minister of over a decade, HolyBible helps in Bible reading and study so much. You won’t be sorry that you paid for HolyBible!

I loved HolyBible so much, and was getting started with some of the more in-depth paid features after purchasing HolyBible after more than a year of use.
Then they updated it.
They changed the interfaces, got rid of my favorite dark theme, and wasted space with a larger navigation bar at the top of the screen… This would be all great and fine if I were using an iPad or something larger Space is at a premium on my iPhone. I will give them that HolyBible seems to be a little more responsive… But I like the old app better

I have used this for years. It is basic but for 99¢ you can get inline Strongs concordance and many more bible helps. in John 3:16 tap on the verse HolyBible take you to a screen there tape the word LOVE and it takes you to the greek word, from there tP another link and you can see every verse where the word is used in the bible. word studies I can complete in minutes rather than hours. all this can be done off line miles from any data connection. Many translations of the bible
