Yahoo Plus Allows COLLUSION

RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER RESPONSE: I did write to that email address and demonstrated through evidence that there was a very high chance of collusion. Yahoo vetoed the 2nd trade - which was lopsided but not overly so compared to many non-collusive trades - and wouldn’t provide a word of explanation as to why. If it’s not for collusion, then half the trades made would then be subject to veto. The first trade these 2 colluding teams made involved 8 players and the team that got the windfall is now in a virtual tie for 1st. And Yahoo just allows that. It’s a joke. This is a $250 buy in league too, was gonna do $500 or maybe $1000 next yr. Yahoo provides not a word to inform as to any explanation or the criteria used to assess trades. Have been using Yahoo Fantasy Sports for 20+yrs but this is my last.

In a $250 baseball fantasy league and 2 owners - one of whole was in dead last both times - made lopsided trades that favored one. That owner went from 8th to first. The second trade - which was imbalanced but not much more than a typical lopsided trade - was vetoed by Yahoo. Yet they’re not disqualifying both teams even though one team already reaped the benefits of the first trade - an 8 player one - and they’re almost certainly gonna do shenanigans again. Was considering $500 or even $1000 leagues next year but never gonna do Yahoo pro again.

Fixing Something That Wasn’t Broken

Yahoo should have just stayed with the old design. The layout is worse than before and there is no longer smooth navigation through YahooSports . If you click on a game and then go back to the list of all of the games for that night, there is an annoying glitch that moves the page so you end up clicking the wrong thing and you have to wait for the ad to pop up to be sure to avoid the mistake again. The ad that pops up at the top of the screen pushes everything down, but it pops up delayed, causing the whole screen to move down. The box scores are lacking some stats, like turnovers in basketball for example while the old version included them. It also doesn’t show if a baseball game went into extra innings before you click on it. It also doesn’t show if it is the top or bottom of the inning. Soccer games are not included with the tv information, which is a bummer. When you click on a team’s schedule, YahooSports doesn’t separate preseason/spring training games from regular season games. There are many little things that add up, making this version a lot worse than before. Looks like I’ll be moving to espn. YahooSports simply isn’t enjoyable to use anymore.

15 year customer about to delete

I’ve used this for about 15 years (when it was Sportacular) to stay up to date, but mostly to make weekly football picks. Absolutely love YahooSports and the news that’s written in it. What I CAN’T STAND IS THE VIDEO AUTOPLAY. If I wanna watch a damned video with the news or analysis - I will. Highlights I can find anywhere - I read the news for the analysis. Key word there. READ.

Regardless of the setting it is put on, videos (or rather the ads that precede them) ALWAYS auto play. Even if I put it on “Only on Wi-Fi” it STILL does it. Even if I’m off wifi. It’s not very promising that a publicly traded company can’t get its major glitches together (this has persisted through multiple updates and complaints to the developers.

With the share of the market Bleacher/Report is ever-increasingly eating up, I imagine you guys at Yahoo! cannot spare the customers (lets face it, Yahoo! became a second rate search engine when Google’s engine was refined in about 2002.

Favorite sports app out there

The layout is easy and quick, has enough articles to keep me entertained, and the BIGGEST plus is that it's the only sports app I've found that shows what station a game is being played. That actually is the biggest separator between other apps.

I'm giving it a 4 because stats is a little lacking, not sure how easy it is to bolster that, but it bothers me. Also, I loved when it had trending games. It was removed a while, but it still REALLY bothers me they got rid of it. I used to open YahooSports and see a big college football game was coming up, then an NBA game, then college football. Cool. 3 big games coming on, and what channel they were on, close YahooSports and be happy. Now I have to manually check ALL the games across all the sports. I can see if they never had it, but they did and removed it >:-<

Absolutely political way too woke

This isn’t a sports app. It’s an extreme leftist leaning political app that uses the disguise as sports. Proof is they turned off their comments on articles because too many people wee calling them out on their nonsense. Sports score updates as well as in time game stats are very late as well. I think they wait for other sports companies to post their in game stats and then use them. Don’t waste your time. I’ve had YahooSports for years and it keeps getting worse. I’m deleting it. Also, look at then negative comments on here. The developer response responds when people complain about content. All of the comments about them being too political are ignored. If that’s not proof about their liberal agenda, I don’t know what is
Update:
I tried giving them another chance, but they’ve gotten worse. Their articles are so grossly politically slanted. Just stick to sports and leave politics out of it. I’m deleting again

Still buggy

I’ve been using YahooSports for a few years, but there is a bug that goes from a version to a version and doesn’t get fixed.

YahooSports automatically adds Major League Soccer and International Friendlies to my favorite sports. I remove them, but the next time I open YahooSports , the two sports are there. I tried everything: removing all my favorite sports and adding them back, turning the phone on and off, but every time YahooSports adds the two sports. I even tried switching to a different sport app but I’m used to the Yahoo app and it has decent features otherwise so I keep coming back...to the same bug.

Update 2020: In addition to the bugs they wouldn’t fix, YahooSports constantly fails to load data. It became so annoying that I finally decided to get rid of it. I’m using ESPN app now.

Fav sports app. Make Apple Watch app!

The Yahoo Sports app has always been my favorite sports app to use due to its clean and simple design, ease of use and navigate. I use it exclusively for NBA, as that’s the only sport I follow or care about. They have been great about updating and adding features as needed over the years.

I hope they can make an Apple Watch app for scores, so I don’t need to keep using two apps for both devices. And if they do make a Watch app, I would suggest having the ability to just show scores for one league :) (instead of all leagues or just one team)

They need to get the playoffs schedules right

My gripe with YahooSports is during the NBA playoffs, the schedule has been (a) slow to update, neglecting to remove series from the schedule if they end before seven games, and (b) incomplete, not showing upcoming series when possible. The NBA's official app, for instance, shows that the Jazz will be playing a TBD opponent at 9 on Tuesday. These are both small things, but they're enough that I'm not going to choose to use YahooSports if I want to look ahead to what games are coming up.

What I do love about YahooSports are the box scores. You get full box scores and it doesn't require awkward scrolling left and right to see players' full lines. If they could get the schedule right, I'd be happy to use this as my one stop shop.

Intrusive Ads

I’ve used YahooSports for years and I liked it very much but recently it seems like the ads have become ultra sensitive to touch. When I’m scrolling through the news feed It will almost always open up the ad content which requires you wait for the ad to load then hit the teeny tiny back button to get back to the news feed. Oddly the stories themselves aren’t as sensitive to accidental touches. Hmm…If I was a more cynical person I would guess that the developers made them more sensitive so they would get more as revenue from ads opening up from the accidental touches. I really did like YahooSports but am going to search for a replacement. This is highly irritating and seems more than a little shady.

Seriously?

I love being able to watch live NFL games in market, but tonight when I clicked on a link YahooSports gave me about a story I was interested in I discovered YahooSports won’t show me pictures or videos inside of the story unless I let it track what I’m doing when I’m using other apps. This is pathetic. I’ll use YahooSports to watch nfl games when I’m away from the house but obviously yahoo doesn’t care to be a reliable sports news source unless they can have all of my data from everything I use on my phone. Get F’ed, I’ll rely on other apps for my sports news, regardless of whether or not yahoo broke it. No other sports app goes this far to flex their Big Brother muscles.

Add a “history” news section and fix sign in

OMG. I can’t take it anymore. I’m posting so maybe this will get heard and fixed. First off almost every time I get a notification of an article and I go to click it, I get either a completely blank screen or the title but no article. I can see the “back” arrow displayed but once I give up waiting for the article to load I CANT FIND IT AGAIN. Give us some sort of news search option or a “history” section so we can see articles that failed to load. Second thing is I just tried commenting on an article for the first time in a long time. It asked me to confirm my mobile device. I did and then it sent me back to a prior article. I got back to the article I wanted to comment on. Had to redo the sign in process and it repeated the same thing that happened the first time. Garbage.

More Politics and Terrible App

YahooSports continues to get worse with every update. It’s getting harder to find the news stories I want to read and despite getting alerts for stories, when I go to find them, I can’t.

The other thing is that I’m realizing that Yahoo is getting extremely political and it’s definitely leaning to the left. Now, before all the Liberals chastise me, I am a moderate and don’t align with either party. I am also a Veteran and mindful of how little either major party truly cares about the people they “serve”. Having said that, I used to follow sports because they kept politics out of it. Now, it seems that I can’t get away from politics. As a result, I have deleted YahooSports. As a Veteran, I have a right to disagree with how YahooSports is being used to pursue a political agenda and I will refuse to download it unless major changes are made.

Please fix the videos Automatically playing!

I loved YahooSports. I’ve used it for many, many years. Still do, but you have to do something about the videos in the articles. The videos at the top of Every. Single. Article. I have auto-play switched off in YahooSports settings, yet every single time I open an article, the video plays! If you pause the video and are scrolling through the article and switch to another app, then return to Yahoo Sports and your article, the video starts playing again! So now I have to scroll to the top and stop the video again. I lose my place on the article and get so annoyed I close YahooSports and read it somewhere else online. Fix this please.

Freaking awesomeness!!

Yahoo Sports app is awesome!!! Now with all the games streaming live FOR FREE, it’s definitely going to make other sports live streaming services think twice about having people pay for what Yahoo Sports is doing.

Working overseas puts a limitation on what you can see from back in the states. But with YahooSports, it helps everyone who is doing their part to serve our country (both civilian and military) to feel Ike they have a piece of home with them now that they’re able to see the games live wherever we/they are at. Good job Yahoo!!!

Need to fix. Used to be good

Takes forever for scores and schedules to load. So annoying! YahooSports used to be great. Now I always have issues getting scores/schedules. All my other apps work fine. I have a brand new phone with great service provider - it’s gotta be YahooSports .
*update* after this review the developer contacted me about the issues. It’s not fixed- but the fact that they read reviews and try to improve has me feeling good about yahoo sports again. I’ll keep checking back to see for improvements. But good on them for at least reading feedback from the people using YahooSports . :)

This app is wonderful!

It gives me updates faster than other apps, and it’s not clogged with ads.

The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because after the latest update, the notifications are having problems. They keep getting cut off (like the team name might not completely show). I have bigger/bolder text on my phone, but even with that, the notifications never seemed to be an issue at all. Which might not be a huge problem, but I use the notifications for score updates and such, since I can’t always have YahooSports open or watch/listen to the game.

Struggling

Up until recently, this was a 5 star app. Lately though, it crashes, freezes, or scores just don’t update more often than not. I’ve tried the options suggested by the developer in some of the other reviews such as making sure I had the most up to date version and even uninstalled and reinstalled, but that did not work.

An example would be when I look a MLB score, the entire MLB scoreboard tells me the Cubs/Brewers are in the top of the 6th, but when I tap the game to get the stats, I am suddenly back to the 5th inning. I figured Yahoo would figure it out, but everyone who works there must be on vacation. If the performance isn’t fixed soon I may need to look at a different app altogether.

Bugs or poor design?

Generally I like the southwest works pretty well, but I just noticed that at least in the NCAA basketball, it does not show my favorite teams unless they happen to be in the top 25, and even then sometimes not. No matter what conference you select, your favorite teams should show up at the top of the list, as they do in baseball and other sports. Or is this an oversight? When Illinois was in the top 10 their schedule showed up on the days they were playing. Now that they are out of the top 10, their games don’t show up, even if I select AP top 25 as the scores I want to see, and Illinois IS in the top 25. WTH??

Stop sending adds as “notifications”.

Until recently YahooSports was perfect. I use it often and rely on it for scores, news and relevant info. It was one of the first apps I downloaded when I purchased my first iPhone years ago. I don’t know if some policy changed with iOS 12 but I receive adds now masked as “notifications”. Stop this BS. Stop. It. Stop trying to ruin everything in the world with additional income streams. If you can’t afford to run YahooSports , cut something irrelevant or unused. I do not want adds as “notifications”. I DO want relevant notifications on my favorite sports and teams. Learn the difference.

Fastest app for scores and stats

I love YahooSports because it is the fastest app to get scores and stats. This may not be what yahoo wants to hear but I don’t care about any other content, I just want quick scores and stats, and that’s what YahooSports provides. Other apps are always pushing their content, trying to get you stuck in YahooSports . YahooSports has good layout to get you, again, score and stats. That’s what it offers and it does it well. I open it many times throughout the day

Widget changes/updates to make it better

I’d like to see a change/update on the widget that actually says the day of the week. ESPN widget has the day and date of my team’s upcoming games and it’s easier to know what day it actually falls on and I don’t have to look at the calendar to see what day of the week games fall on when looking ahead. Listing the tv channels games are on would also be VERY helpful, as ESPN does that and lets me know the channel/network the game is being broadcast. Would also like to see the over/under line from the widget as well. I’ve been using Yahoo sports app for a few weeks and like it, and seeing those changes/updates would get me to delete ESPN from my phone and use Yahoo entirely.

Yahoo please.

What happened to YahooSports?? It used to be my go-to app for my NBA scores and news, but now half of the articles aren't even legible. They just look like a cluster of links without a readable format to them. I mean does anyone actually proof-read the articles before they're put into YahooSports ? I'll see an article that is actually interesting only to find that I have to sift lines of links/sources to find where the article actually starts. I'm not saying that all of the news reports are like this, just a good majority of them. I used to think YahooSports was coded better than ESPN's and BR's, but now it seems like it's right on par with them. Hopefully these issues can be resolved and be a thing of the past.

Very surprised...

I had extremely low expectations of The Yahoo sports app delivering me the NFL playoffs on my phone, but YahooSports came through. Watched both Saturday clashes streamed on my phone and caught everything perfectly. Even pulled the game in on my radio to compare how far behind it was from the live action, and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was less than ten seconds off. As someone who has NFL Sunday ticket from Direct T.V. (which doesn’t provide any playoff games), I give a big tip of the hat to Yahoo for coming through...

Amazing!

This is the only App I found that allows you to watch NFL games for free. Yes, you are limited to a selection of games (5-6 per week)(which in-itself is still amazing granted it’s FREE), and the games are 30-45 seconds behind live, but still, allowing you to watch games for free totally separates YahooSports from competition. As for news and alerts, Yahoo appears to be covering all the new material pretty quickly, so that’s a big plus as well. Overall, YahooSports is a great find; I would highly recommend.

By

Suggestion!

It would be extremely helpful if you made custom groupings for the scores I want to view. For example, when viewing scores from college basketball, I would love to be able to select Custom instead of, say, “Top 25” or “Big 12” so I could view Top 25 and Big 12 games on the same tab. Implementing this would be incredibly helpful for college sports fans that care about their teams, conferences, as well as the relevant, Top 25 matchups. Thanks for your consideration. This is a top notch sports app.
